Hidden 1 Posted October 17, 2020 Author #21 Share Posted October 17, 2020 The last of the boss's meatshields fell, leaving it exposed to the two players. The real fight had now begun. They had proven their worth to fight the creature, and now would bring it to a swift end. With only one enemy, she was finally within the circumstance that he build would really shine. The only thing left to fate was the activation of her holy enhancement. The landing of a critical increased her damage heaven-fold and healed her. Her build was centered on the idea that she would land a critical hit often. Leaping from the shadows, she left a raking blow to the opponents side, bringing its health down a good bit. It shouldn't be too long before the pair brought down the oversized wolf. The question is, would the wolf put up its own fight? Freyd 0 Posted October 17, 2020 #22 Share Posted October 17, 2020 Hidden had no choice but to reveal herself for this part of the battle. Blood Bane's additional stamina and health ensured that the beast wouldn't fall prey to the same tactics as its pack. She'd given the massive wolf a suitably good nip. Taking advantage of the mob's momentary distraction, Freyd ran across the clearing to catch it on the opposite flank, leaving a hefty gash. Their dance was on now, Hidden on the one side and Freyd on the other. Blood Bane played the monkey in the middle. Freyd chose to deliberately divide his attention, watching his 'ally' as much as his foe, learning what he could from both. He looked as much the predator as their prey, what with his reddish eyes glimmering from beneath his cowl. Hidden's agility was the key. He had to give her the opportunity to use it, but Blood Bane was overly focused on her for the moment. Maybe it was time to let her tank for a bit while he played the assassin? Hidden 1 Posted October 17, 2020 Author #23 Share Posted October 17, 2020 With the way Freyd had set them up, the wolf was trapped in between the two of them. It was a fantastic set up, save for the fact that she was the main target if she kept on attacking. However, perhaps that wasn't entirely a bad thing. She still had the option to vanish and take away her presence from the battlefield. Essentially, they would switch the hate target and health wouldn't even be a problem. She darted forward, pointing her weapon straight at the target's body. Her blade pierced her opponent and she used what body weight she had to push it in deeper. Of course, Blood Bane had planned for this. Taking advantage of the moment that she was unable to dodge, it dug its teeth into her arm. Pulling back, she would quickly move away, her battlehealing slowly healing the damage that had been done. She turned back to find the creature was licking its lips. "It heals based off of attacks." She noted. The howl it had done earlier most likely boosted its attack as well. A very self-sufficient monster. Buffs, healing, and damage. Freyd 0 Posted October 17, 2020 #24 Share Posted October 17, 2020 Freyd nodded to acknowledge his understanding. "Then I guess it's time to turn the tables on it." Dodging a quick snipe from the beast's jaws, Freyd pivoted the tarnished silver blade in his hand and slapped the flat of the blade against Blood Bane's head. Wheeling instantly around in the other direction, he smashed the dazed wolf directly between its eyes with the swords hilt, driving it with enough force to smash Blood Bane's head into the ground, forcing it to bite down on its own tongue in the process. The beast yelped as its took the blow, and backed away slowly, unable to focus on anything but the ringing in its ears. "Can't heal if it can't bite," Freyd said, smirking, gesturing an invitation to Hidden. "Let's finish it. Ladies first?" Hefting his blade back into a proper high guard, he moved to follow and strike the wolf from the opposite side. Hidden 1 Posted October 18, 2020 Author #25 Share Posted October 18, 2020 She watched as Freyd took advantage of the information he was given and the situation itself. Understanding quickly that the boss wouldn't be able heal if it wasn't mobile and acting on it was a good move. It was a shame that she didn't have that kind of versatility with her dagger. "Ladies first? Since when were you such the gentlemen." She turned her gaze away from Freyd as she quit with their banter. "I suppose if he isn't going to bite then now is the time to bite back." Nothing better than attacking a helpless opponent. She stepped forward, placing her foot atop of the large beast. "Not so much a badass now are you?" She raised her dagger into the air, holy light blazing in all its glory. She brought the dagger down, plunging it into the creature's body. As she drew away, one may have noticed the red shards indicating a wound from the opponent seemed to seep into her weapon from the vampiric enhancement. She turned to Freyd. "You should be able to finish it from her, no?" She asked him, lifting her feet from the broken and bruised canine. As she did, it began to stir, ready to attack again. She now sat once again at full health. Spoiler ID Battle Craft Loot MOB Character Link Purpose Time 173407 10 6 3 4 Hidden Eternal Cyclone v. Freyd 0 Posted October 18, 2020 #26 Share Posted October 18, 2020 It seemed that Blood Bane wasn't the only creature to heal when it attacked. Freyd files that information away for future consideration, should it ever become relevant. The alpha warg had barely lifted its head when Samael's Pride fell, separating it from the beast's shoulders. A spray of grey crystals spilled to either side of the blade, washing over the glade like a burst water balloon, and vanishing just as quickly. Freyd was just about to turn away when he noticed another of the familiar tokens left behind after the creature's death. This one was dull grey limestone with a chalky finish. Like the others, it bore the mark of the Sundered Spire. The red tower emblem in this one looked to be some form of inset ruby, whereas the black sword had a charcoal-like appearance. "Damn." Freyd spat. "I'd hoped I was wrong. Their reach continues to spread." Flipping it over, he found something new and equally concerning. Carved into the back of the stone was an additional symbol unadorned and without colour. It was a small but densely detailed flower - a night lily - and confirmation that his fears were likely correct. Hidden 1 Posted October 20, 2020 Author #27 Share Posted October 20, 2020 "Damn. I'd hoped I was wrong. Their reach continues to spread." Hidden frowned. "How is some wolf part of your NPC terrorist group?" She supposed there had been a dragon, but she figured it was supposed to be their Kraken. Or maybe more of a mascot. "And look at that, if the NPC's are mad at you for trying to undermine their organization, you just made another enemy." Currently, she wasn't too worried about the growing threat. They had demolished the most radical force created by the Sundered Spire. She would become worried when they started adding players to their ranks. She wondered if they would even take up a player into their ranks. She stepped forward, holding out her hand. "The token. Mind if I take it?" Her motive was based on the idea that it could be used to disguise someone as a member. It could come in handy in the future and she was willing to bet the boy in front of her had a crap ton of them. Freyd 0 Posted October 21, 2020 #28 Share Posted October 21, 2020 Freyd's left eyebrow raised itself independently. "Didn't you just say that it could bring more enemies. I'm okay with that, but weren't you boasting earlier that you were Aincrad's most notorious and wanted player?" He seemed to ponder her possible motives for a moment, chewing on his lips as he considered her request, then flipped it to her casually through the air. "If you feel like it will be of benefit, you're more than welcome to have it. If you intend to dig, I would appreciate learning of your findings. Most people don't quite seem to have clued into the true potential and risk behind this threat. If there's one thing I'm sure that you appreciate, Hidden, it's the value of threats, and how best to prioritize them." Their immediate enemies slain, Freyd stood and made ready to leave. He paused, his gaze directed at the ground. "Raidou thinks you're okay," he said, without revealing any further meaning. "I'm inclined to agree." Freyd fingers stabbed at the air for a few silent seconds. A pop-up appeared before Hidden, offering her a friend request. He wouldn't judge if she declined it. Aincrad was full of her type, each having their own 'reasons'. He wasn't going to waste his time prying. Maybe someday they'd be able to talk about it. For now, she clearly wanted her distance and he wasn't going to player the game on her terms.
Hidden 1 Posted October 21, 2020 Author #29 Share Posted October 21, 2020 Freyd's confusion was rather visible. "The token itself isn't what is gonna bring attention. If these things remember you killing them all, that makes you a target. Of course, since I was here I am no better off." He mentioned how she had told him she was the most wanted player. "Most wanted player or not, a few more enemies at my back is nothing. Besides, this world will see soon that I was framed. At that moment, the so called 'protectors' of this world will crumble from their own corruption." As it came clear it was time for them to part ways, she looked into the distance. Freyd was an odd character, but at least at this moment he was no enemy. Being a member of Firm Anima, she supposed he was one of the people she was supposed to look out for. "Raidou thinks you're okay," Her eyes widened at the mention of him, and she immediately began to scan for any hidden intent. "I'm inclined to agree." She shook her head. "I can take care of myself. No matter what happens, you Raidou types are the ones that get pushed into the snow and need help up." She made that retort almost jokingly. She would believe it to be true if she hadn't witnessed the man's fury before. Her held emotions in like she kept secrets. She watched as a friend request appeared in front of her. Of course, she declined. "I don't accept friend requests." Only three friends remained on her friends list. They had been lucky enough for her to break her own rule. Freyd was going to be no exception to her rule. Roleplay Completed Both players receive 5200 Col 15 T3 Materials Freyd receives: 6 SP Bane of Blood: Vial of blood received from <"Blood Bane".
