[PP| FL 16] SoW 3 Fishin for days

Recommended Posts

Two statues down and the next one was calling for them. He had paid for the valued information of what they would need to do in order to get their next victim of the quest. Eyes glanced over his beloved, who was sprawled out over the couch. She was being extra… googly over the ring that he had given her. A light smile was given to her before he realized that the monster was a fish. This wasn’t too bad. He thought as he managed to move some seat pillows aside and sit beside her.

In the background, you could hear the two familiars poking each other and causing cause around the home. He wouldn’t scold them as they provided ambient noise for Asmura so she could do her art work in her room. It as a great day for their little family. Amber orbs looked at her and he spoke to Haine. “Next quest involves fishing and you are the one whose good at that, love.” He mentioned as he watched her eyeballing the ring.

Haine was sprawled on the couch, hand raised in the air as she marveled at the beautiful stone. The proposal was fresh on her mind, only a few days ago. She was in a state of constant bliss, giddy to spend most waking moments beside Kiluia. All that she could, with how hectic her schedule was. They could relish in each other's company for a moment before guild duties called for them. She had yet to visit the guild. When she would, she would tote the gem on her finger and see who else caught on. She liked the element of surprise.

But that day would come later.

For now, it would have to wait. She reached for a pillow and squeezed it, listening to the other speak. It was of their next quest, but her head wasn't so in the game then. She scooted aside to make room for him and curled her bottom lip out in a pout. "Bleeh. Why now?" She moved forward and flopped her head on his shoulder.

He looked over at his love and played with her hair a moment as it was upon his shoulder. He simply showed her what the quest was and spoke. “Its for the statues, love. And I figure why not. I wanna go on a serious quest with you so we can keep up the pace.” He had realized the two had not been pulled to the front lines yet. It would be sooner or later that the duo would be called. A kiss on her head was placed as he slid his hand into hers and squeezed their digits together. “Its not like we have anything better to do til dinner. Asmura’s drawing upstairs and we can just go out.” He looked down at her and traced a heart in her palm.

Eyes never left the ring that was on her wedding finger. The thoughts were surreal as he stared silently at the ring. A smile crossed his face as the noise just simply faded away for a moment. He thought about what was happening to their lives and how it was comforting. “It’ll be okay.”

A gentle scratch on her head felt nice. She laced their fingertips together and squeezed lightly. "I see." She turned to face the man and searched his expression. "But don't push yourself too hard now. I understand that you're tense after Skalaugh." She thought to the mess that was the initial stage. The foe was mighty enough to chip away so much of her health. By a sheer turn of luck, the beast was unable to exemplify its true strength. But if it did? She feared the outcomes. And that was only a taste of what it's like to be a frontliner. Those brave souls risked their life out there, the threat of death a constant variable.

She brushed stray locks of silver from his periphery and tucked them back. "I'll go. But let's keep it steady, yeah? Don't work yourself sick." A soft, reassuring smile painted her lips. "Focus on the good, too." She waved her ring about, her cheesy smile breaking into a toothy grin.

The thought of what happened during that event made his blood rise a little more than expected. Skalaugh was something he wasn’t going to forget easily. After seeing how much damage she had received, they needed all the quests and items to get their hands on to help establish their fight against the clock with this game. A slight sigh was given as he brushed her cheek bone. He already knew his future if she were to leave this world. He was tense. It was written on his face.

He played with her ring sightly before speaking. “Yeah I know but I don’t want it to be like that again. I want to be more prepared than ever.” Despite their performance against that boss and were able to showcase their abilities for other people to see. Firm Anima was a force now as he looked at her amber eyes with his own. “ So its okay. We can do this and relax more if you want?”

The tense look on his face served as confirmation of her suspicions. His expressions contorted with the slightest hint of discomfort at the topic. His words had proven his drive, and she as well had felt the same, shaken up by recent events. Her other half could read her like an open book, and even then, she held these secrets. She was trying to be more transparent with the other after an ugly quarrel or two in the past, and it was a struggle, torn between her optimistic front and the secretive, aloof side of her. She inhaled deeply. "Very well. If you're going to grind, you'll need someone to make it less of a drag, hmm?" She nodded in confirmation, a nod to their endeavors months ago. The two were a solid tagteam out on the field. Remembering them back then, shortly after Kiluia's return, brought forth a sense of nostalgia.

She planted a kiss on his lips and pulled back. "We can leave now, if you'd like. I'll let Asmura know we're leaving." She slid off the couch and padded to the girl's room. She popped her head in, to see that the soft cub was laying beside her. Pastels and paint scattered a sheet on the floor as the raven haired girl worked hard at a masterpiece. The cub booped his nose into a patch of color, sneezing flecks of lavender. The sight was enough to warm her heart. She peeked from the doorway and whistled Mishka over. She left the room, not long after announcing their agenda for the day.

Asmura would have a surprise to look forward to at the end of the day, a trinket Haine had commissioned for pickup this evening.

The two were a solid foundation of a respectable team. This quest was no where near like Skalaugh where it would prove extremely dangerous. This quest wouldn’t be nearly as hard as anything they had encountered since they had been training feverishly. This would be a walk in the park for the time being. He was nervous about the other upcoming event. It was nearing Halloween and the event had already spread like wildfire of good things to come but he also didn’t want to think about what may happen to anyone or how tough it may be for them.

It was then her kiss that snapped him out of his daze as he kissed her back a bit more passionately than he had expected. His face flushed red as he heard her words and he nodded in agreement. He was not going to be caught like a little boy with a blush face. A grin spread across his lips. “Okay. I’ll get the familiars ready.”

She swooped the cub into her arms and and bounded down the stairs with him. The cub turned around to face her, moist snout covered in lavender. She cringed and wiped it off. "Sorry to cut your fun, bud. Duty calls." The cub whimpered in protest and ducked his head onto her chest. She scratched his neck and sighed. Just round the corridor, she noted Pingu fumbling with a scarf. She pointed at the table at a bright checkered fabric and shot a doe-eyed look at Kiluia.

"Ready to roll?" She scrolled through her inventory and pulled out a pastry to munch on. Corners of her eyes crinkled as she smiled. "This is delicious," she hummed and tore a piece from her strudel and offered it to him. "Here, eat up. You need the energy." She swiped through her HUD and searched for her battle garb. She equipped it and swept her hair into a bun.

Strudel in mouth, he linked arms with her. He snatched a few more things like sandwiches to go into their inventory and he spoke after swallowing what she shove into his mouth “So, if we do this, I wanna have a picnic or at least a nice rowboat on the lake.” He grinned as they started their movements out the door. Again the teleport crystal was close to their home on the floor so it wasn’t long til they made it to the 16th floor. This floor was something he did not go to very often. In fact, this was his first time as he looked at the teleport crystal and how interestingly hot it was since it was locate somewhere near a volcano. The water was everywhere but dry at the teleport crystal. The main settlement Zugaikotsushia was their main location and all they had to do was fish off the coast. He had to figure out where the coast was now in relation to where they were.

Eyes panned over and the exit wasn’t that far off. It seemed that the entire area was made of several islands.” Nice place… I’d live here”

The prospect of a picnic on a scenic floor or a rowboat on a lake made her ecstatic. It gave her incentive to power through today's work. At the end of the day, there would be something to look forward to. The woman nodded. "Why not both?" She propped a hand on her hip. "You row. I'll feed you. Picnic on the lake it is!" Teleport crystal crushed, they entered the new floor.

She'd seldom been around these parts. Now that she was, it was a wonder why she didn't visit as often. With all duties aside, the island seemed like a paradise getaway at a first glance. The humidity was getting to her, but it was a fair trade off. She glanced up at the sky, puffy clouds drifting across the expanse. Overhead lied a volcano, overlooking the islands surrounding it. She hoped it would stay dormant. "When we're rolling in gold, let's get a beach house." She linked her arms with his and hugged his forearm. A glowing look in her eyes signalized she was buttering him up to the idea.

It was hard to say no to someone like her when she was already doing her best. Damn. If he wasn’t already wrapped around her finger, her eyes would of sealed the deal that day. He nodded as he had already made the suggestion to make them able to have their picnic. He had read the actual quest guideline of the monster being around an area of a coast but he wasn’t expecting it to be several islands. He was already walking to the pathway out and glanced around the area. It was heavy forest to one side and the other side led directly to the coast. He was unsure why both areas were so… different.

Of course, love.” He grinned. It was a way to relax too. Questing and relaxing were hand in hand now. After he realized that with the who situation of the downward spiral of Skalaugh, he had to take it easy or else things could stress him out into making bad decisions. Who knew it would be that bad and that was just another event.

She let Kiluia lead the way, quest marker secured on his map. Shorter legs quickened pace to match his footsteps. "After all of this, we need to stop by Kasumi's. I have a present for Asmura waiting to be claimed. An enchanted charm bracelet, I hope she'll like it." Haine tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Among the path down the settlement, she noticed the jarring differences among the scenery. One half of the land imbued the essence of a tropical beach, while the other seemed more like a forest scape. If the information on her quest book was accurate, the coast was where they ought to stick. She stepped onto the sand, feeling the loose gravel swish beneath her.

"Ah, go left, maybe?" She scratched her head. "We're getting warm." The familiars were ecstatic to be on the sandy shore. Paws and fins frolicked on the sand, beak and snout shoveling dirt. Mishka rolled onto his back and panted. The heat was not his favorite, but a day at the beach was a fair exchange.

Hearing that she had a present for Asmura at Kasumi’s was good to hear. He simply was happy with how their little family had grown to this point. They had their guild family and then they had their own personal one. He was happy with the thought as he walked with her headed to the left. “I didn’t know you had something commissioned for her. What did you end up getting?” He inquired as the two familiars moved forward in front of them toward the left area anyway. The sound of waves crashing in the far distance. It seemed that this town could be a good fishing port one day.

Eyes looked over at his beloved before smiling a bit. He was happy that she was getting into the idea of Asmura too. He always knew that it was going to be a good choice for himself but it was her he was slightly worried over.  Their bodies managed to go left without much hesitation against the large forest to the right anyway.

"I commissioned a bracelet with colorful charms on it. I wanted to give her something nice." A soft smile graced Haine's lips. Without a doubt, she had been spoiling Asmura. The woman had to keep herself in check. Sometimes she could go overboard with the love, the last thing she wanted was to scare off the other. But the bracelet? She ought to appreciate it.

The group approached the edge of the shore side, among a broken ocean dock. She squinted ahead to see a massive ripple in the waves. It could only signify one thing. She exchanged a knowing look with the silver haired man and manifested her fishing pole. She plopped onto the dock, prepping her fishing pole. Line ready, she casted it into the body of water. Moments of idleness passed, until unceremoniously, a massive strength gave way ahead. She squeaked, her body jerking forward from the sudden tug. "Kil, hold me back!" She called over her shoulder and strained with the lure. After much effort, a massive, titanic-sized creature was plucked from the sea.

The enormous fish came out of the water. This thing was larger than he had anticipated and he blinked. He would have a one hell of a day to cook this thing if he could capture it. A grin spread across his face as she hooked the fish. He jumped into the air with his fist glowing.  Amber eyes would lock onto the spot of where he felt comfortable and his fist landed into the gills of the creature. He looked over at the creature as it got pushed away. However, it did not going into according to plan. The monster began to struggle, and the tail slapped him backward. There was a moment that the fish became down. (allmight -14)

The fish came down and struggled more striking Haine but also caught itself on her Assault spear. It managed to strike them but also injure itself at the same time. He fell down and landed on both feet but he looked at his damp chest.” Damn…”

Haine admired him in his element from afar. With his art activated, Kiluia harnessed a herculean strength. She silently blessed the warm weather gods for him in his short sleeved shirt, his biceps on display. Throughout all the time they'd been together, she still had those moments of ogling. It had only took the gigantic fish careening her way to snap her out of her trance. The bluenette shrieked, stumbling back on her hind. Her spear had been pointed out in defense, skewering the creature. It thrashed its way off the pole, spraying her with water. She shielded her face with her other arm and withdrew the glaive.

The wooden planks beneath them shook as the fish fell forward. She seized the opportunity to charge her weapon and strike. She vaulted off blade and landed with the sharp end embedding onto its flesh. In due time, the thing materialized into nothingness.

That was the most anticlimactic ending for a monster ever. He felt like this monster could have been a lot more serious had they been under leveled. He looked over at her and smiled slightly. He had always oogled her pretty much when he had a chance. Of course, those were the hormones of a young man. His eyes lingered once more before he scooped up the item they needed. Just a couple more and they would be done with this quest. Amber eyes met hers and he leaned in to kiss her cheek. “ Well we can eat here on the beach or head into town for a dinner. Either way, I’m okay with being with you.”

He began to scout or an opening on the beach if she decided to choose to stay. The familiars were already burying each other at this point in time. A grin crossed his face as he would do that one day to everyone and make shapes like he did at the beach when he was a kid.

The fish flopped over, deadweight on the deck. Before it was gone, she seized a shiny scale off its back. She held it up in the air, the sun's rays reflecting off the shiny token. She approached her love and placed the scale in his palm. "A souvenir for you." She leaned onto her tip toes and planted a kiss on his jaw. The prospect of a date left the woman giddy. She accepted the chaste kiss and pulled back. "I really like it here, the weather's beautiful. Let's have a picnic by the pier and swim later. Like that one time, remember?" She bopped his nose and trailed off on the boardwalk. Old wood creaked beneath her soles.

In the distance, Pingu and Mishka play wrestled. The bird, with her jarringly huge toy sword in comparison to her little frame, swung wildly at the bear. He taunted her, booping her soft belly and circling around her. He booped her forward from behind, watching her topple like a domino. He padded over to chew her wing.

The water was hotter than normal due to the fat that they were located near a volcano area. It was more a hot springs but there was aquatic life that seemed to go there. Amber eyes read the mood and he took off his gear where he simply started to soak in some sun. He lounged beside her while the familiars were enjoying themselves. It wasn’t cold weather but it was good weather for them so they didn’t have to suffer within the heat.

He slipped around her waist watching her. He was bare chest leaning against her and breathing quietly. Perhaps they should consider buying a smaller home for something near here so they could vacation any time they could? He thought about what about Asmura would like if that were to happen. Living by the seaside was always a good thing especially romance. A light grin popped his head as he looked at her. “Whats on your mind?”

She led the other up to a body of water, a hot springs nestled in the heart of the outskirts. The water was warm, however the soothing kind, like a cozy comforter. She equipped lighter clothing to wade in the waves. She paused a moment in his embrace, turning around to face him. Arms slinked around his shoulders. "Hmm, just thinking about the future. It's exciting." She pulled away, seizing his hand to lead him into the water. "I think Asmura would love the beach. We should take here sometime." She smiled softly. "She needs to have a little fun, too. Find a balance between the quests and, y'know, being a kid?"

She advanced into the warm waves, letting them crash against her skin. She sighed in content. The familiars approached the little pool, sniffing to see what it was all about. The vapors off the top taught them numerous times to check before diving into uncharted territory. Tentative fins and paws checked before they dived in to be among their owners.
