[F15-PP] The tide that keeps rising <<Bane of Blood>>

Recommended Posts

The darkness consumed Life's slender frame, the muttering and pattering of monster feet could be heard not too distantly from his location. Life was continuing his journey to survey the remaining floors he hadn't been to yet, and thus it was his first time on floor fifteen. Dark wood trees towered over him as he walked between their thin trunks, sifting through the fog created by the cold and humid climate. Life knew that this floor was dangerous too him, to the point where wandering into the wrong location could mean permanent death. But he wasn't a stranger to forests, he had spent two years in one and was quite attuned to nature at this point.

He could tell the difference between new and old permanent roots, why they grew and how. The directions of branches and foliage indicating the suns direction, and thus finding the bearings of east and west. He could tell by the uniform shaping of the upper canopies that they was a large structure further ahead obstructing their sunlight, and the thickness of the roots on one side, indicating the presences of water nearby. Following such hints, Life knew he'd eventually end up at a village, and not half an hour later, he was right. A large village suspended int the tree top canopy, the forest below being a dead zone of most plant life due to the scarcity of light.

Life inspected the ropes which cascaded down from the village and tugged at it, not exactly sure what kind of contraption this was supposed to provide. Though to him it seemed his best bet of getting to the top would just be to climb it. With one arm after the other Life grappled at the rope, steadily pulling himself further up each time. It was clear that his athletics skill definitely played a role in how smoothly he was able to pull himself up in the end.

When he arose he could overhear the bickering of multiple townsfolk, their tone was rough and unrefined, as if barbaric in nature. They discussed a new breed of wolf terrorizing nearby trade routes to their village. Life smirked as the quest <<bane of blood>> popped up on his HUD. "I guess I'll have to see what this is about then." He mused. Though, he knew he wouldn't be able to solo quests on this floor. He had straggled so far behind the other players that he couldn't just rely on his own strength anymore, if he wanted to get stronger he'd need to form a party. It was odd to him since he'd never had actively looked for a party member before, aside from the one time he put up something on the bulletin board. "I suppose if I hang around the quest NPC another player looking for the quest would pop up and we'd do it together... but how long would I have to wait.." Life pondered to himself, he'd give it a day to think as he waited.

With everything going on, it seemed like a good time to start doing some quests over again with the idea of getting certain consumables off them. Bane of Blood was a good one that many people on the frontlines could benefit from, even though she didn't benefit from it almost at all. Night was a good example. She relied on that sort of build.

Heading over to accept the quest on the message board it was pinned on, another player was standing there. It looked like they were waiting on someone. The fog of morning was making it difficult to see, even under the canopy of the trees and off the ground. Bane of blood would be an easy quest for her to run solo, so she didn't want to bother someone else with her problems. Maybe they were just waiting on a friend to get up to the floor so they could do it together. Hopefully they were strong if they were going to take it on, Bane of Blood wasn't easy for many people. She was something of an exception being close to level 70 at this point.

"Morning." The paladin says to the man without paying him much attention. She would examine the bulletin board quickly before starting to make her way to the quest giver, not even noticing that the person she just passed was an old friend.
