History/Personality

History
Vincent is the only son to Byron Abberline, an Englishman real estate agent. Vincent grew up pretty much with only his father as he and his mother became estranged a year after his birth, which eventually became a divorce. Still, there was no true bad blood when it came to his parents. His father, while strict, was fair and understanding. He made efforts to not work too much to still be in Vincent's life. His mother was more lax, but wasn't a terrible parent. Vincent was sent to normal schools as he asked his father to not waste money on just a quieter classroom. He didn't really make any friends or any enemies. He was just, there. He had a bit of an interest in video games for some time and the next time he went to visit his mother, the VRMMORPG "Sword Art Online" was currently being purchased. Vincent took his chances to stand in an insanely long line to get it. Like the 9,999 other players, once he first logged in and realized he could not logout, he was initially stricken with panic. After quite sometime of just loitering about on the first floor, he grew tired of waiting for the players on the frontlines. He was starting to wonder if they were slacking off and taking their time, since it was still a game almost. Disgusted by that very thought, he set out to go find them all and push them ahead so they could finally win this thing. He was just ready to go home.

Personality
Vincent talks with a slight air of superiority. He doesn't intend to half the time, he's just in the mindset that he can do anything like others can. He doesn't like slackers, actually getting angry at the people who just sit and wait, but have the nerve to talk about the front liners in a bad light. He is approachable most of the time, having no problem talking with others. However, if there's a person he's met before and their last interaction ended badly, he won't be so quick to speak to them. His sarcasm can get him dirty looks, but he isn't there to motivate everyone with kind words. He wants to work with people who are driven to get the job done like him. He respects those of high leadership like Guild Masters as he could never see himself holding pointless meetings all the time.
Virtues:
Strong Willed - Vincent has never been one to simply admit defeat, no matter how outrageous or insignificant his obstacle may be. While he isn’t fearless, he does a masterful job of showing that he isn’t fazed by even the most damning of things. Always moving forward, never retreating.

Generous - Vincent is a hard worker, but he also understands that not everyone can be brave enough or simply driven enough to work as hard as him and the others who are pushing to complete the game. If he ever hears that someone needs anything, he might make it a personal task to go out of his way to help them. He’s not a jerk, but he does wish that more people than what is currently seen could pull their own weight reliably.

Reliable - Vincent doesn’t like feeling useless, so he throws himself into leveling and grinding at every chance he can get. He wants to be up to par with the rest of the frontline players and push them forward even more. The last thing he wants people to tell him, is that he was lacking.

Flaws:
Blunt - Vincent isn’t one to hold his tongue when speaking to others, which can lead to a lot of misunderstandings or squabbles should he be in a party or guild with others. He knows that he can simply be nice, but being nice isn’t what he has to do, he just has to not be a murderer or someone who’s going to purposely sabotage the game for the other players who want to escape. He’s no hero, he’s just Vincent. And that’s how he likes it.

Stubborn - Like most who are very defiant and not ones to quit, Vincent can and will be very combative and otherwise close-minded when it comes to certain things. Coupled with his sarcastic remarks and overall demeanor, he’ll become a person not many people take a liking to. He's also not one to accept terms that he doesn't like so easily.

Secretive - Vincent doesn’t mind engaging in conversations with others, but he doesn’t like others to pry about his life before SAO. It’s not impressive..at least to him and it’s something he secretly wishes he never has to look at ever again. This can lead to others not being very trustworthy of him and he has come to terms with that.
