"Which company?"

"The Red River Reavers," came the reply, perhaps a little too quickly for Freyd's liking.  The tip of his sword dipped, feigning compassion, just as a dagger slipped from the man's sleeve.  The merc's arm barely lifted before Samael's Pride gutted him, shattering his frame into a thousand shards of light.  

Liar.

By the time they spilled to the ground and faded, Freyd was long gone.  He had his reward.  If someone was playing games with him, he'd figure it out eventually.  Too many vague assertions and statements swirled around these events.  Too many pawns were being played by unseen hands.  Enough mysteries surrounded him, and this one seemed to amount to little more than greed.

For him, and for now, it was time to go home.
