Finnick 0 Posted June 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Why can't we have +damage gauntlets?
Zerva 0 Posted June 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2014 I think it's because you attack with a weapon, not your gauntlets. Smartassatry aside I bet it's also so that people don't have perfect +3 damage guantlets and +3 damage weapons to add up to a +6 damage
Finnick 0 Posted June 9, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted June 9, 2014 By the way, I thought perfect was like my weapon, IcE. +1 damage; 10% freeze chance. And I planned on my perfect gauntlets being +1 damage +2 HP.
Zerva 0 Posted June 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Well, there are two ways to go about perfect items from what I gather. Ones that give basic boosts like damage or die rolls, where you get three points to allocate how you want... or unique effects which overwrite those points in exchange for an effect that is unroutine and can't be defined in points. The only real thing I can see is, what will decide that 10% for the ice thing? Like, what numbers from which dice? But yeah, only weapons get damage boosts because you are making the weapon deadlier... armor is more for defensive things, you know?
Finnick 0 Posted June 9, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Atheng! Armor is defensive, right? Then why does it add to loot dice? And ice freezes(stuns) enemy for 2 turns on roll of
Zerva 0 Posted June 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2014 I see. I am sure you could just make that freeze effect for 9 AND 10 and just call it "on critical" ;D and because loot roll has NO effect on combat xD It's a stat that can go on literally anything because it's only use is gathering. Edit: In a way, a loot dice boost is a HANDICAP in exchange for better stuff.
Saix 0 Posted June 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2014 The main reason that you won't see + damage on armor and accessories, is because they aren't actually damaging the opponent. SAO functions as a video game, with the swordskills providing the main bulk of 'damage'. Spiked armor was not tied to any skill, thus it was not used as a viable weapon. Martial Arts Extra Skill had no weapon associated to it, so even if one were to have spiked gauntlets, they would not improve unarmed or armed damage, etc. Defensive abilities on armor are another matter entirely. I do hope that clears up your question.
Finnick 0 Posted June 11, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted June 11, 2014 ok. tHANKS! A lot for telling me why. will you check the crafting evaluation topic please?
Ruri 0 Posted June 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Um... Finnick how do you have 6 enchanted things? o.o
Finnick 0 Posted June 11, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted June 11, 2014 what do you mean? Shark said it was okay, i asked him because of what you said on Skype
Zerva 0 Posted June 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 11, 2014 I think what she means is that in the item evaluation post Saix says that you can only have three enhanced items EQUIPPED at any given time. AKA one weapon and then two slots for armor or accessories... But if you are sure Shark said OKAY I am not able to argue :P
Zerva 0 Posted June 11, 2014 #13 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Well, nobody can dual wield so that's that. xD Though I suppose you DO have a shield slot if you use it.
Ruri 0 Posted June 11, 2014 #14 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Actually you could if you got the skill for it in your bio, you can choose unique skills, potentially that is one of them...
Zerva 0 Posted June 11, 2014 #15 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Let me rephrase that, nobody CURRENTLY can dual wield. :P So it's not even an option yet.
Seldentar 0 Posted June 11, 2014 #16 Share Posted June 11, 2014 As per the crafting item thread, we can only use three items with enhancements at a time. I have different item sets depending on what i am doing. To begin with, there are 3 types of Equipment. Weapons, Armor, and Accessories. A player is able of using 3 pieces of equipment at a time, and can mix and match this equipment as they see fit. Now, with the exception of Dual Blades, a player may only equip one weapon. However, it is up to the player as to whether they wish to equip two pieces of armor (Say a chest plate and shoulder spaulders) or two accessories (A bracer and an amulet). Moving on, lets talk about the two most 'powerful' of the abilities we see in common use. The infamous +/- Battle Dice. This is a very powerful effect, with enormous consequences on the Rp itself. As such, you will never see more than 2 of these stacked on a single ability. And at any time, only 2 are going to be in effect on a player at any given time. Since everything on our little game besides crafting and loot basically hinge on the Battle Dice, having abilities that add or subtract to these rolls is extremely powerful. So, lets say you have two items that give you + battle dice, and you have a total of +3 to your battle dice. Unfortunately, for the time being, only a +2 is going to apply for you. This is to balance the game and keep things from becoming unfair. Both of these are direct quotes from Saix posted on page one of the crafting item evaluation thread. Finnick 0 Posted June 13, 2014 Author #17 Share Posted June 13, 2014 On this, I had a question. Say I had matching Breastplate Helm Gauntlets Gloves Trinket Boots Leggings Could I combine them into one piece of armor?
Shark 0 Posted June 14, 2014 #18 Share Posted June 14, 2014 No. each one is a different piece of equipment.
Shanok 0 Posted June 16, 2014 #19 Share Posted June 16, 2014 On the note of the "Ice" thing, you should just go with stunned or paralysis, as magic effects were only introduced in new Aincrad or something like that I believe.
Seldentar 0 Posted June 16, 2014 #20 Share Posted June 16, 2014 Thats correct, even the descriptions of our sword skills are based off of the New Aincrad skills, before that there was no need for elemental damage types, while in New Aincrad and Alfheim the skills that have elemental effects can overcome physical resistance by being treated as magical attacks.
