Lishuu 0 Posted April 19, 2021 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2021 (edited) Let there be Light Lishuu level 4 The second floor was an entirely different world for her. Where on the first, most of the people she saw were united in commerce and an effort to live peacefully, Urbus was less centralized. People still roamed and kept themselves busy, but it felt less like a cultural hub. The traffic here felt sparse, erratic, almost like it was dismissed and forgotten as the Frontliners left it in their wake. For those Players still coming up, it posed the opportunity to learn more about the world of Aincrad at a steady pace, and held greater challenges to be faced. Somehow, she still felt bland about it. She knew a handful of people, including Starla and Koga, and she didn't want to bother either of them so soon after the last debacle. If she wasn't able to take ownership of her weakness, she'd never be able to face it. The more that she thought about that, the more she realized it stifled her ability to be free. More ability to act, greater strength in this world meant less restrictions. And Lish hated restrictions. For a person to grow, she reasoned, they need to be limited by only themselves. They needed to find the upper limit of what they could do and optimize their skills within that scope. That was her model, at least- how it worked in practice, she had yet to hammer out entirely. Given that she was among the very weakest people in this digital hell and the most restrained by her limitations, she couldn't test her hypothesis. That meant in order to experience growth, she needed to push the boundaries she'd placed upon herself over the course of two years. Because of that, the difficulty and the parameters of the entire experiment were constantly changing. One day, when they were all free of this place and in the real world again, she'd use the data for a thesis. She'd publish a study- oh yes, that sounded wonderful. Promptly, Lishuu was broken from the spell cast over thoughts by a woman who appeared to be rushing up to Players and NPCs alike. "Well that's odd," she murmured as the girl looked desperately up at a man, who turned up his nose at her. "And that's rude," she muttered beneath her breath. Maybe the girl would come to her?
