Hakai 0 Posted April 27, 2021 #21 Share Posted April 27, 2021 Hakai sheathed her sword, disappointment written on her face. Randal had defeated the creature before it had a chance to kill Ivory, and Hakai herself looked kind of dumb for missing like that. She frowned, hand resting on the pommel of her weapon. "Yeah, this was the eastern one, now we go fight the western one, if you want. Or we could stop here, although I don't really see the point." She commented, glancing over at Randal. Shed steal the next kill from him, she was determined not to be outdone by someone so below her. "I didnt realize this quest was so low level. I guess you have to get it done at some point though or its just a waste, right?" She kicked at one of the hoofprints on the ground, flattening it back out absentmindedly. She motioned the correct way. "It's this way you moron." She muttered quietly, starting to lead the way before the NPC decided that she couldnt do anything by herself and made his way in front of her. People seemed determined to get on her last nerve today. 2/
Randal 0 Posted April 28, 2021 Author #22 Share Posted April 28, 2021 (edited) Randal held mixed emotions about the stability of the party that he had gathered, although he liked them both, it would appear that they could not stand to be around each other, or rather Hakai would very much rather not hang out with Ivory. “Yeap come on then, let’s follow Hakai, I would like to see this quest through to the end and she seems to know where she’s going, also the NPC hasn’t prompted anything for awhile now, it’s safe to assume that we are going in the right direction…probably.” Randal spoke towards Ivory but with the intention of the whole party being able to hear him. As they trekked their way through the forest, a small clearing in the mist opened up ahead. Before them lay a series of stone pillars and crumbling ruins that seemed to have been a Tower of sorts. It was tiny compared to the gargantuan trees that stood tall by its side, but it appears to have been built for a creature to sleep it. The size of the gateway was superimposed with the image of the minotaur they fought, and Randal quickly figured that the Minotaur must have stayed within these ruins. This begged an interesting question which he posed to the group. “What do you think the lore behind these minotaurs are? Larbrook just says that it is an honour to kill them but do you think they have some sort of story?” 3/5 Edited April 28, 2021 by Randal
Ivory Lotus 0 Posted April 28, 2021 #23 Share Posted April 28, 2021 "Hmmmm." Ivory vocalized thoughtfully at the question that Randal had posed. It was possible that these were just throw away bosses with no real story but that wasn't as fun as the alternative. She placed a finger in her lip on her lips, thinking. "What if they are brothers and warriors from an ancient civilization of minotaur people, who sacrificed themselves in order to save their people, but as a result are cursed to wander this labyrinth fighting players for all eternity!" She exclaimed, presenting her idea with visible excitement despite the fact that there was nothing to back up her wild claim. That didnt matter to her, it was way more fun to be creative and wild than stick to realism. She could even picture the drama of the story. She smiled as they continued down the path, heading into the western part of the maze. Maybe some day the brothers would break free of the curse that forced them to fight, and they could all live in peace. 4/
Hakai 0 Posted April 28, 2021 #24 Share Posted April 28, 2021 (edited) It was unfortunate that the minotaur didn't respawn while they were in the labyrinth and she could kill it herself this time. She would just have to make do with murdering the second minotaur. She would make it last too. Ivory came up with some random fantastical story about the origin of the monsters they were hunting. She didnt really care either way, it was a video game, this wasn't real life. Hakai supposed that meant that as long as the background of the minotaur's wasn't explained explicitly their background could be literally whatever you wanted it to be. They continued on, further into the western part of the maze, Hakai unsheathing her sword. It wasnt long before they stumbled across the second minotaur. Or, it would be more realistic to say that it stumbled into them. seeming much more cautious than the first minotaur, this one waited for them to make the first move. That was a mistake, Hakai felt like she had something to prove so she was off like a flash. Make it last, dont let me down. Let me feel it again... A single slash of her blade later and it was over, the minotaur's body shattering into crystals. She was so angry she thought she might start smashing her fist into stone wall. Why couldn't it let her vent on it, the stupid thing was dead already! She shuddered angrily, her muscles tensing before her whole body relaxed and she seemed to get a grip. "These bosses don't last nearly long enough. This crap is boring." 5/5 ID# 191077 BD: 9 (Focus Crit! +2 DMG) | 25x16 = 400 DMG Action used: Iai (x16 Focus, -13 EN) + Concentration Randal: HP 480/480 | Energy 66/66 | Damage 18 (+2 SA) | MIT 20 | ACC 3 | EVA 4 | LD 6 | H: 0 Ivory Lotus: | Health: 465/465 | EN: 60/60 | Mitigation: 68 | 2 ACC | 1 Prosperity | H: 0 Hakai: HP: 680/680 | EN: 100/102 | MIT: 78 | DMG: 23 | ACC: 1 | EVA: 3 | Bleed: 2 | Paralyze: 1 | H: 0 <<Govarron, the Western Hoya Minotaur>> HP: -250/150(-400) | DMG: 45 | EVA: 1 Edited April 28, 2021 by Hakai
Randal 0 Posted April 28, 2021 Author #25 Share Posted April 28, 2021 When Gavorron was felled by Hakai the moment it came out, Randal knew for sure that this quest was easy in comparison to some of the others that he had done. He was well aware that Hakai was already much stronger than him so if he could kill the other minotaur in one hit, it was not unusual that she was able to as well. Upon literally eviscerating the minotaur, another three amulets fell from the disappearing corpse. “You three are mighty heroes in Faune, I will be sure to take these pendants and prove your strength to all who pass to hear my tale of your unimahinable battle with the beastly minotaurs!” Larbrook was incredibly chatty from the sheer ecstasy that was present on his face. “Here, pendants that we give to the important in life, and you three have brought peace to the minotaurs and to us Faune who live near the Forest of Wavering Mists. Thank you again.” Larbrook regales the heroes with a great deal of respect while handing them a different set of amulets. To Randal, Ivory seemed to be visibly charmed by the flattery of Larbrook while Hakai continued to be annoyed, probably because the battle was so easy it did not match the things that Larbrook said. Randal too felt this way but it was just a quest, so he let it go and appeared pleased like Ivory. Together, they all returned to the main NPC village and Larbrook once again thanks them for their efforts and the courage which they showed. With that, a Quest Completion appeared. Randal turned to his dissolving party and asked. “What are you guys going to be up to now?”.
