The joint buckled and toppled the golem onto its side, crafting a new crater where it fell. It groaned, loudly, like a fog horn let loose in a giant cavern and reverberating off the walls. Freyd had managed to get clear, but expected a counterattack that didn't come. Instead, the stone repaired most of the damage he'd just done. Its head lifted off the ground and glared at him from empty black sockets. If anyone could tell when a void seethed, it was Freyd. The Ancient was mad, and he was going to have to step twice as fast and lightly to keep ahead of it once it regained its footing. "From the right!" he yelled, watch the swarm of shadows at his command congregate near the thing's head. It was just another distraction, but it worked. It was watching the shadows when he struck, propelling its noggin forward with such force that the golem basically just head-butted the ground. Another cavernous moan echoed within its frame, even as one of its massive arms swung slowly up to cradled its aching forehead. Splitting two thick, grey fingers of rough granite, it glared at him again with one socket while concentrating on healing its injuries. Caustic green goo poured from the spiderweb cracks where he'd smashed it. It healed less effectively than last time, or perhaps the damage was just more significant. But the mob also looked really, really pissed. "If this thing keeps healing this much, this quickly, we may have a serious problem." We? Thanks, Montjoy. You ass. I'm just saying: it's not like we shadows have a problem with each other. Freyd smirked while dodging another building-sized fist. The ring of a sword art split the air just as white light flared at the point of contact. It was like watching holy lightning go off and emit some sort of gravitic wave that immediately reversed the stone's trajectory. No expecting its projectile to suddenly reverse course, the titan could only stare in confusion at the great hunk of granite hurtled back to strike it in the torso. It might even have garnered some air time, but the vast cloud of dust produced by the impact obscured everything. Only the immense boom of the mob's fall, again, could easily be confirmed. "Hah!" Freyd yelled, triumphantly, taking uncharacteristic pleasure from the fight. "Take that, you stinking baby mountain!" Rushing forward, he cleared the dust cloud and landed right between the mob's eyes. "Had enough yet?" Freyd had to roll off onto its chest to avoid the massive mitt rising to press itself against the Ancient's forehead. He had to dodge the outcrop that passed as its nose, and a take a flying leap over the baleful maw beneath it, but managed to find the necessary footing. Skidding to a stop upon the centre of its chest, he could see the toll exacted by his attacks. The Ancient was far from pristine to begin with, but its form now looked considerably more battered. Crouching down, while the titan soothed its injured crown, Freyd found what he had hoped. Pressing his hands against the stone, a steady pulse beat slowly and rhythmically below the surface. This fight was about to be over. He just had to decide how he was going to do it. Another wanted to just leave the mob in peace, but he knew that it would never allow it. Unless programmed otherwise, they fought to the bitter end. Pulling its large hand away from its head, the Ancient craned its neck to glare down at him. Time seemed to freeze. Staring into the dark pools where its eyes should be, Freyd knew what was required to end this battle, and especially this foe. Placing a palm atop his staff, and gripping its inky surface with the other, he drove the weapon down. Holy seals receded, and the hungry void within let loose, obliterating everything it touched. Screeching vacuum cried out in the air, replacing absent anguish. The black pool eyes just stared, expecting their imminent demise. Down the sliver went, passing through rock as if it wasn't there, because it no longer was. The void consumed without a care or ability to ever reach a point of satiation. Freyd's eyes were locked on his opponent as it died, seeing himself reflected in the darkness.
