SuzuNa 0 Posted June 24, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2021 (edited) Profile Username SuzuNa Real name Suzuki Natsume Age 25 Gender Female Height 168cm Background Natsume spent her entire childhood acutely aware of her family's financial problems, in that there was no finance to really speak of. Her father was in a risky business, constantly gambling everything he had on the latest startup, always certain it would be the next big hit. She'd grown up quickly. As a little girl she withdrew from the world, lest it ask her to pay for her joys. She didn't make friends. She didn't ask for activities. When she grew up, she started working on the side, juggling the incompatible hours of school and sleep and work. And when not even that was enough, she dropped school. Cut back hours of sleep. Working herself to the ground to support her family. She hadn't even finished junior high school. She wasn't sure when it happened. Somewhere along the way, her father's business had turned around. It wasn't quite jackpot, but it was enough for her parents to celebrate and bring a new child into the world, apparently. Natsume hadn't even realized her mother was expecting until they were presenting the baby, cooing about the great life they'd give him (the great life they never gave her). And she watched that great life unfold before her eyes. Watched as her parents spoiled this kid senseless, always at his beck and call with whatever extravagances he wanted. The latest phone model? Of course, darling! What, you don't like this color? We'll get a different one! And if they even remembered her presence, they were kind enough to occasionally toss her the scraps that he didn't want. She didn't need to anymore, but Natsume found herself continuing work, finding every excuse to stay out of that suffocating house. Businesses were always happy to have someone work holidays. The kid, Akihiko, had barely turned 7 when he started talking about it. Sword Art Online. He'd lucked out! Of all the people trying to get in, he'd gotten it! Of course, him, lucky star wonder that he was! It was all Natsume would hear about when she dared crawl back home for bed. She'd woken up too sick to go to work that day and with everyone out of the house—Akihiko at school, her father at work, and her mother at some social gathering—well, she couldn't help it. It was just a dumb prank. Scarcely that, even. More a tantrum thrown by an exhausted, fever-ridden mind. She put on that fancy schmancy VR headset her parents had bought him and logged in, curious about all the hubbub. Her username was simple. Suzu from Suzuki and Na from Natsume. SuzuNa. And after a few minutes of awe at the detail the game afforded... she went to log out. Maybe she just didn't understand the appeal, as someone who'd never played games. But the game didn't let her log out. And so began the life of a girl who'd never played a game, being stuck inside a video game. Lovely. Virtues Independent Life taught her early that she had to look out for herself because nobody else could or would. It was just a given she'd have to take care of things herself; to the point she'd rather silently struggle and suffer than reach out and ask for help. Though she's working hard to open up again and rely on the people around her, it's always nice to know she doesn't need them. She's perfectly capable of running the show solo. Diligent Even when she no longer needs to be, Natsume's a hard worker. Nothing is impossible as long as she has the time to figure out a plan and grind away at it. And grind away she does, working at even the smallest details for the longest of times. Once she starts something, she makes sure to get it done. Resourceful She's always had to make things work, even when she's a couple tools short. It's no different in this game. Sure, she doesn't like being suddenly thrown into things blindly, but she won't let it paralyze her. A solution is a solution, no matter how shoddily patched together it is. Flaws Evasive Emotions? Heart-to-hearts? What are those?! Those all sound very uncomfortable and, quite frankly, something she just can't handle. She'll gladly be the stone-faced shoulder for you to cry on, but don't you dare go prodding at her feelings. She has those tightly packed deep inside, far out of sight, for a reason. There's just too much in there to handle. Workaholic It's her favorite way of avoiding her problems: being productive! There's always something she needs to be doing, because if she stops, then she might start thinking and feeling and oh no that's no good. She's both a morning bird and a night owl because there aren't enough hours in the day to waste time on getting plenty of sleep when she could be working on something instead. Altruistic You ever heard the phrase: "Don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm?" Well, gather some sticks kiddos, because Natsume's ready to burn. She's quick to help others, even at her own expense. It's a lovely mix of habit, the intense feeling of obligation, and a desperate need for love and validation. It's actually why she had no weapons at the beginning of her journey. Somebody broke theirs and she figured she could just... learn to just punch, or something, if need be. That person had been so distraught to be weaponless that it only felt right to give hers. (She's yet to learn how to just punch, or something. Whoops.)
