Real name: Riley Withers
Age: 24 -> 26
Gender: Female
Height: 5'6"
Country of Origin: United States

Background:

The birth of his first daughter was suppose to be an occasion filled with promise and hope; unfortunately, for Mr. Withers, it was also the day that he lost his the love of his life. After the birth of his daughter his wife was provided with the wrong medication and had a severe allergic reaction. Even after lifesaving procedures she was unable to be resuscitated. After finding out that his wife was wrongfully provided a medication she was allergic to Mr. Withers sued the hospital...and won.

As a child Riley was rambunctious, spoiled, and studious. She would pretend that the family dog, Winston, ate her homework and make a big fuss...then the next day turn it in. She also enjoyed playing farming sims and survival sims, but not fighting ones. She hated the violence and overall tense atmosphere. Friends were something she made easily and fast. With her wide smile and bright features people found themselves drawn to the child. There was something about her that people trusted and felt secure. That was one of the many traits that she inherited from her mom.

Mr. Withers used the money to fund his own organization called "A Light in the Dark" to assist families who had legal issues with the medical system. Often, Mr. Withers could be found working in his office late at night with his daughter tucked firmly in his grasp. As she grew he continued to bring her to the office and even permitted a day where staff could bring their family. It was during "Family Day" when Riley met two of the most influence people in her life - Misha and Gwen. They were the daughters of a lawyer who worked with the agency. The three of them would run about the office giggling, playing tag, and hide-and-seek. The trio was inseparable. For years the three stayed connected, all through higher education and life milestones. Riley was even the second maid of honor for Misha at her wedding.

While Misha and Gwen were finding their own paths Riley had already been traveling down hers. She wanted to take over the organization her dad built and cherished. Due to that her higher education revolved around legal and business administration. Still, throughout everything the trio made a point to see each other as often as possible. When the announcement about SAO hit the media the sister's could not be more excited. Riley was not. She was never very fond of fighting games, but she found the appeal when Misha and Gwen said that they were going to get a set of NerveGear to play SAO. The goal was to get a second set so that they can play together.  Desiring to hang out with her friends more often Riley asked for the NerveGear for her twenty-four birthday. Her father, now successful and having more than enough, provided her with the NerveGear with the understanding that she would still continue on her path to inherit the organization.

Virtues

Hardworking: After watching her father work hour after hour, day after day Riley learned that it was important to work as hard as possible; and if one worked hard enough that anything was possible.  Due to watching her father Riley developed a sense of wonderful work ethic and does her best to achieve her hopes and desires. Riley takes pride in her work; which is always diligent and through. Image

Trustworthy: Something about Riley makes people trust her. Random strangers would often end up engaging her in conversations and feel comfortable enough to be open about thoughts and feelings they were experiencing. At first, this drove Riley to stop interacting with people, but she learned it was a "gift" (as her mom would say) and started to embrace it. Now, Riley is what is considered a "people-person."

Friendly: In Riley's book no one is a stranger. She treats everyone as a friend - almost like she has known someone their whole life. She attaches to people easy and has a warm, bubbly personality. Very rarely does she find herself at odds with another players.

Flaws

Perpetually positive: Some people can not stand being around Riley due to her bubbly and warm personality. While it is normal for Riley to be jovial and joking it can also be a way to mask whatever pain she is feeling. She will use humor and laughter to distract herself.

Naïve: Being that Riley never enjoyed fighting games she is a bit unsure of how everything works and what to do. Additionally, during a fight she is unsure and hesitates to engage the enemy. Riley does not enjoy the fighting aspect of SAO, but she will fight to survive.

Directionally impaired: DO. NOT. ASK. RILEY. FOR. DIRECTIONS. PERIOD. When it comes to knowing where to go instinctively Riley fails on all levels. There is no sense of direction and she would get lost in a paper bag. Never the less, Riley tries her hardest to learn where places are and sometimes gets lucky; but that is all it is, luck.

Intuitive: Her father always said that this was another trait that was inherited by her mother. Riley's mother always knew (she said it was a "feeling") when something shifted, for better or for worse. Riley has always been able to pick-up on the little mannerisms that people try and hide or are unconsciously doing. This allows her to navigate situations with ease and also allows others to build a bond with her.

Now, Riley is what is considered a "people-person"

Flaws

Vain: Her whole life Riley had been told that she was "beautiful" - even from a young age. Due to hearing that her looks appeased to people she started to care about how she looked and what she wore. In the real world she would not be caught without name brand items, nails , make-up, and hair done. Even in the game she tried to maintain her nails and appearance.

Spoiled: Being an only child worked out well for Riley. She never wanted for anything but got everything. Her father attempted to fill the hole in his life with work and the hole in Riley's life with things. She enjoys immediate gratification and often feels shorted when she does not get it.

Blunt: There is not beating around the bush when it comes to communicating with Riley. She will tell someone exactly what she is thinking, and often without tact. Some people appreciate the direct nature of her communication while others find her difficult to work with.
