Reveal hidden contents Yomi has always been a quiet settlement, even as changes rolled through the village by Cardinal’s undecided whims. This year was no different, then, as chaos swept through the floors outside of the underground’s reach. But the whirl did steal rocky terrain away from one young kid as they raced through the dark, almost aimlessly, with bangs almost too long and eyes squinted too small to peer through the night. With one misstep, they fell, tumbling through the air a shooting star of purple and blue and brown. “Oh, there you are!” That voice pierced through the silence, echoing, a chipper noise that called the kid to action. From a vulnerable roll, they stretched their arms outwards, pointing their figure towards the ground they were about to strike. Hands out in a sharp point. There was no hesitation nor fear written on the kid’s expression, were one to look past their messy and scattered bangs. It was almost apathetic, to any stranger that looked towards them for only a glance, but the corners of their lips pulled through at the last second— — and with their dive, they sent a flurry of golden leaves to rise up, weaving through ether where they had once been. “That was a nice one!” Lost in the pile of gold, there was only an indent where the child had fallen into their landing support. A second later, it caved in, the collection underneath it rustling, and a few feet away a familiar face popped out of the spring mess. Their eyes — blue fading to brown — barely made contact with the other figure sitting atop a nearby rock. The second almost looked like a twin to their skilled counterpart; the same shaggy brown hair, the same height too had someone stood them side by side. But what differed were select details, like their skin, the former was a flush yellow to the other’s pasty white. Or their eyes, when you could see past either of their fringes; sparkling cools that mixed in indecision juxtaposed a dull crimson that burned bloodshot red at moments. And striped sweaters both, but the latter was in greens and yellows. His dark shorts to their black pants. Both their boots were equal, the same.  Without words, they both knew to long for the season to come. One toss, and the boy landed to the floor, bent knees in stabilization while an idle hand toyed with a knife with recklessness. He looked to his subordinate, grinning, pushing his hair to one side with his fingers. “Well, don’t you think it’s time we head back? The others must be getting worried about us by now.” The kid almost seemed to be dozing off, after a moment without their response. But when a leaf finally landed on the top of their head, they nodded, adding the gift from above back onto the pile below. “Wonderful! Then let us set off without complaint.” While traditional Halloween festivities have been propped up in every other floor of Aincrad, Yomi appears to hold no differences apart from the sudden influx of lit candles being hung upon every building’s territory. And the other changes might’ve gone amiss too, had players not noticed the two new figures that rest underneath the central blossom of the city, now a fiery autumnal red from its usual rosy pinks. And one seems to be more sleepier than the other, but the peppier one (a boy, everyone guessed) welcomes you to their side either way. Golden Gingko Scatter Due to the mystique effects of the Golden Gingko leaves scattered through the various floors of Aincrad, all threads closed within the event period will gain the following benefits: +15% EXP +30% col +50% materials Furthermore, for each loot-minimum monster slain that has a loot roll of natural CD9+, rewards gained from that loot roll is doubled. Oni's Skeleton Hunt   Reveal hidden contents He’s the first one to greet players the moment he spots them looking his way. “Hey!” He’d often shout to them with a big smile and a wave. “Interested in helping a new friend out?” Should one approach him, the boy would gesture with his empty hand to his companion, most likely dozing off under the shade of the crimson blossom. “Thank you! As you can see, I’m watching over my partner at the moment, and I’m not in the best shape to leave them alone.” “My name’s Oni,” he’d begin, hand on his chest before matching his index to the tip of his knife. Sheepish. “I’m looking for a particular someone, and you might find him on your travels if you’re heading out of town. He’s short, sort of like us. Wears a hoodie of some sort -- it was blue the last time we saw him, but pretty sure he’s got lots more. And… let’s see...” Pointer and thumb gesture to Oni’s own eyes. “Blue pupils; they look hollow and they glow in the dark. And… Oh! They’re also a skeleton, if you can believe that.” The boy chuckles, already expecting players to not believe him when he discloses this intel, but recovers quickly enough before any of them leave. “Would you mind giving him a good few blows? Tell him an old friend sent you. I’ll have you know though, he’s quite the evasive fellow. It might be a good workout if you’re into that. And-- oh, don’t worry about that guy getting bruised.”  “He’s gotten very, very sturdy over the years, after all.” “If it helps,” Oni adds, hands tucked behind his back whenever players appear hesitant about assaulting a random stranger, “I’ll make it worth your time. Some candy afterwards to take the edge off. That sounds nice for the season, doesn’t it?” Players should keep track of their successful tags against that guy when performing the activity. Their total accumulated tags will earn them the following rewards: Tags Rewards 1 Halloween Candy (x3) Tiered Consumables of choice between the following: { DMG/MIT/OH/ACC/EVA/LD } 3 Reroll Tickets (x3) Allows a re-identification attempt on a single enhancement slot from a single piece of gear at a Merchant. 5 Candy Corn (x1) Increase the effectiveness of a single crafted potion consumed in a thread by +1 (Player’s Tier) slot. Cannot be applied to an enhancement that has already benefited from [Candy Corn]. 7 Perfect Unidentified Equipment/Item (x5) of the player’s choice equal to their tier. 10 Demonic Unidentified Equipment/Item (x1) of the player’s choice equal to their tier. See the section below about that guy for more information about tags. Kuni's Collection   Reveal hidden contents Kuni doesn’t talk very much. It seems as though they are resting, most of the time, a tiny pumpkin bucket fitting of Halloween resting on their lap or right by their side. Whenever they rise to their feet in activity, they dart around the village in view of where their partner can see. And during those times, it is clear to onlookers that Kuni is picking up… seeds? Where did these come from? Oni is quick to speak up the moment he catches players staring as Kuni scavenges. “Oh, the seeds? They’re a good snack sometimes. Kuni likes them a lot. We help mom roast them and we hunker down with a good movie and finish a whole bowl.” The boy smiles watching his companion scurry about. “You should try it sometime, with the people you care about.” He then turns to Kuni’s audience with an extended empty hand. “If you find any seeds on your travels, you should hand them over to us -- granted, assuming you don’t have any use for them, of course.”  When Kuni comes running back, the kid deposits his findings into the pumpkin bowl, before fishing into his pockets and pulling out a comically large leather wrap. With one unfurl, they display a variety of goodies, set across the grass. Grabbing the bowl’s handle, they set their seed collection beside them and make a grabbing motion outwards. Oni laughs, and Kuni withdraws his hand afterwards, but the message had then been made clear to the player base. Players should keep track of threads closed during this event period. For each batch of 300 words written, all players present in the thread would find 1 seed each. For players who do not meet the 3-posts-to-1-page requirement, they would find a fraction of the seeds expected, matching their EXP ratio (rounded up). Seeds gathered are untradable between other players. Please keep track of your seeds in your own posts within this thread. If an enhancement is rolled that matches a pre-existing enhancement on the equipment piece at capacity, the player is allowed an additional reroll attempt. (eg. If a player rolls [FALLEN/HOLY] on a perfect sword that has [FALLEN II/???], the player may choose either [HOLY] on their roll or opt for the reroll attempt.) 50 seeds Gungir's Shard (x1) Caches and expends a craftable consumable. The item to be cached must be submitted to a player's evaluation thread. Once confirmed, players may use the item to provide a buff to their characters once per thread. Other players can be affected by this item’s effects (eg. feasts, mass healing crystals), but the item cannot be used in combat. This item is tradable until an item has been evaluated on it. 70 seeds One-time purchase per character. Hammerspace Backpack (x1) Adds +1 to the player's Battle Ready Inventory. In addition to this effect, all Battle Ready Inventory slots extend their item capacity by 2. A player may only benefit from one Dimensional Backpack or Hammerspace Backpack at once, the latter taking precedence over the former. 70 seeds One-time purchase per character. True-Light Lantern (x1) When lit this simple brass lantern burns away shadows and deception, aiding in the connection of blows in the darkness. Negates the effects of low-light. Grants its user's party +1 ACC and +1 LD. A party may only benefit from one True-light Lantern at any given time. 70 seeds One-time purchase per character. DELTA RUNE (x1) Removes an existing enhancement on any piece of equipment and replaces it with [Cursed]. Compatible only with Demonic items. One-time use.   150 seeds One-time purchase per character. * that guy   Reveal hidden contents  ever since the hunt began, players have remained ever vigil for the skeleton in question, and have always managed to spot him -- a little too often, surprisingly enough. the lazy bones has always been sleeping or idling nearby, watching the adventurers on their journey one way or another. some have even reported making conversation with the skeleton, even cracking jokes with him.  (and what was his name again? some type of font or another… or not?)  but the description their hunter had provided didn’t match up completely -- skelly’s eyes in particular -- until one of them takes a quick swing the stranger’s way. that’s when things start to change. true to reports, he’s hard to hit. and he always laments about his day when players try to strike him -- “* man, i came out here to have a good time and honestly i’m feeling so attacked right now.” and the skeleton’s eyes flash a cold winter’s blue as he finds ways to strike back using the environment; all non-damaging, just to throw his assailants off his tracks. “* a guy can’t even hang around now without getting assaulted, huh? how times have changed.” then, he vanishes without a trace, suddenly. often disappearing behind a tree or pillar, without even a sound effect to indicate his abrupt leave. but the ones that do land blows against him find something in their inventory afterwards. * players can encounter that guy at the end of every thread closed during this event period (aka. req. 20 posts made before this encounter). each player will then each receive 3 chances to tag that guy, which means making a natural cd roll 3 times in one post. for every roll that achieves a cd9+, that player scores one tag. * players will receive the following rewards based on how many times they have managed to tag that guy in a singular thread:  tags rewards 1 10 materials, +5% EXP to the party 2 10 materials, +5% EXP to the party,  Perfect Unidentified Equipment/Item (x3) of the player’s choice equal to their tier. 3 10 materials, +5% EXP to the party, Perfect Unidentified Equipment/Item (x3), Demonic Unidentified Equipment/Item (x1) of the player’s choice equal to their tier. * tags are considered individually & per thread.  * the 5% EXP stacks for the whole party. final exp calculation should be (thread exp + 15% + [5 * players who have made a successful tag]%). * remember, you should track your successful tags for a chance at unlock rewards (see "oni's skeleton hunt" section).

Bringing a handful of strange white colored flakes into a wave of blacks and oranges, a place a bustle with masks painted in all manner of horrors. A small child, darting back and forth through the sea of these people feigning creatures, like a needle through fabric. It catches the woman's curiosity, and she stops. Watching on as Kuni pick at the ground like a bird, another boy begins to speak to the silver haired maiden that stuck out like a sore thumb. A large tarp is deployed, one of darkened and thick leather. Presumably out of nowhere, as was customary of the game as a whole. "Kuni and Oni, was it?" she inquiries the pair, to a shared instance of shaking heads. "I have no use for them, but perchance a trade." A vial of liquid, and they eagerly take that deal. As they dump that handful of small pumpkin seeds into a bowl for later baking and chewing, the woman sucks down a vial of golden liquid and finds the nostalgic sense of memory return with a glow of her eyes.

Violet approached Kuni, a soft smile on her face. She loved it when there were younger NPCs, especially around the times where there were holidays that were mainly oriented around children. It made the events all the more cheery and fun, despite the world that they were trapped in. She carefully poured twenty of her pumpkin seeds into the collection basket, before pointing at a small bottle of stars. "is it OK if I have that one? I'm buying it for a friend of mine~" she asked kuni, smiling when he brought her the bottle. "thank you! I'll be back later with lots more of these!" Bottle of stars in hand, she made her way back home, humming to herself.

Freyd's eyes were wide as saucers as they scanned the assortment of goodies laid out in Kuni's displays, pondering the potential that each offered.  

"Got it, got it, got it, need it, got it, need it."  He paused.  "My... oh my.   I... oh." A Cheshire grin spread beneath his cowl.  "I need me some of these."

It took a considerable effort to impress the Whisper to this particular degree.  If he could buy every single item in all the trays, he would, but even his considerable resources could not achieve such a feat.

"Shame," he sighed, forcing himself to be selective and strategic in his choices.  "Perhaps there will be another opportunity to come back later."

Gathering his preferred goodies, he opened a small, dark pouch and poured what seemed to be an endless stream of seeds that spill into a giant mound, running over the edges of her counter.  Even the NPC seemed impressed, looking back and forth between her customer and the bounty he'd collected.  Finally, after several minutes, the stream ebbed.  Blinking, she pushed a small handful back his way as change.

"Thanks!  See you again in a bit."

Another visit to the small pink haired child, the very same that she had met before. "More for you." The maiden doesn't seem even the slightest bit attached to them, despite how much Kuni was. Eagerly, the both of those children lap them up, a magnificent showing. Later they'd grace an oven and then a bowl. Ushered into her grasp, more of those same shavings that were all but useless. But even still Morrighan couldn't dismiss them, a strange attachment to them purely out of happenstance. They disperse the moment they are palmed, fleeting and yet real. It was coincidence she had made her way here again, and it was coincidence again as she left. Not one to mill about, not one to enjoy the pleasantries. Heels clatter as she exits, as quick as she came without a word. After all, the silver haired woman had her own affairs to which to attend, and if she found any more of these seeds then she'd bring them by. Simply to remember and gain something, albeit small in return.

Successful in the mission to assist the quiet child, Blue would pour the seeds into her small pumpkin bucket. "There you go! I really hope it helps you do whatever you wanted to do." The quiet child nodded. "Thank you, i'll let you take what you want for helping me out." The child began to showcase various items. Quickly choosing two of the sparkly drinks, Kuni would smile before continuing to pick up the various seeds around the areas. "thank you for the drinks! I hope they taste good." Putting them in her inventory, she would give a wave to the child and walk off. 

Blue wouldn't be drinking the sparkling drinks provided to her until a little bit later. Drinks like these needed food to compliment it or else it would just be a waste. What would go with it? A cake? Perhaps that was just a bit too much. Maybe use it like milk and cookies? There was endless possibilities.

Wandering into the thoroughfare, a small fortune of these strange little seeds in his pocket. A few minced words and a small haul added in exchange. It appeared as though Kuni & Oni had some attachment to these small objects far greater than just a simple treat. Else they would not part with items of such magnitude. Either that or he was reading too much into like he always did. A complete and utter lack of fixation, simply because the man could not pardon the time between. To some such an affair would be an excellent break, but the wanderer could not afford such pleasantries. There were plans unfolding, there were ghosts in the backdrop, there were a million small details still waiting to be fleshed out and set straight. Let the others enjoy themselves, while he'd work to set things right. The nomad needed to wander, and where that lead. Well, only he knew.

A bitter chill into the festivities, an earnest sense of bewilderment as she scanned the soft mixture of oranges and blacks. Various gourds carved out, this was the first time she was ever seeing something to this, seasonal flare. A ripe fist full of these strange flakes of white that had been collecting in her inventory for quite some time. They directed her here, but for what purpose? She was enthralled by the iconography, the rich shades and costumes. All of it was fresh, but the smell was familiar. The sound as well. Oni lays down a carpet of items, but a single blackened hunk of obsidian speaks to her. A slide of the things back and forth like poker chips, and Setsuna was free to play within the place to her hearts content. A woman, a lethal killer. But At this moment, she seemed like a child in her silence.

Sliding into the place, a few soft footsteps matched with tapping. Her attire could easily considered a costume, as it was a bit beside the standard armor and sword medieval vibe. Joining with the others, a rather flashy and distinguishable bunch. Oni makes a note to address them all, pertaining to the seeds they were carrying. "Oh." Kasumi exclaims with the epiphany, as a smattering of the things had been collecting space and carry weight for quite some time. Gesturing into her pockets and peeling out the fair size handful she'd obtained in her travels. Finally, having a reason to inspect them at all, opening her hand to present them to Oni and by extension Kuni. Swiped in an instant, the mass in exchange for things that littered a tarp. Kasumi cannot help to the excitement Kuni was projecting in her silence, it was a fair trade whatever she was offered in return.

Within arms reach and hearing the same outline, a bit of that thought scratching at the back of his head. Into his right front pocket, using the physical gesture to peel items out from his digital inventory. He had his own pile of these things that were collecting a fair bit of space. "These?" Griswold remarked before the girl like a falcon, Kuni scoops them out of his outstretched palm. Oni chuckles and sweeps his hand over the tarp for Griswold to choose from what was on its surface. Grabbing the first that spoke to him, a strange blackish stone with an inscribed orange rune he couldn't understand. "I'll take this one." Griswold spoke as he plucked it between an index and a thumb. With it entering his hands, the rest of the objects vanished. Transaction complete, just like that. His vision scans immediately to his daughters, unsure how to process the exchange. Maybe this was good? Maybe it wasn't. A shrug as he shoves that object into his pocket, unsure what it meant.

Through the thoroughfare she'd been a few times before, and this time no different. The realm between had led her here, and whatever reason still lingered at the back of stirring thoughts. Her vision sensitive as she sought out the culprit. To Oni, she casts off the same lingering clutter and is paid in turn. But those fragments of cyan were no longer desired, no, and as she collects a few varied little trinkets that spoke to her in a garbled and distorted mess. "That will suffice as always, enjoy your seeds Kuni." The woman smiles, which she hadn't before. There was a sudden shift in her presentation, her aura. It was as if she was an entirely different player, and yet the voice matched, as did the appearance. A few graceful steps from the NPC as she stores those objects somewhere, and for but a single brief instant her hair isn't white but black. As if either truth or a lie was unraveling around her.

Intrigued by the transaction between Kasumi and by extension Griswold, the woman begins to fish out her own. It paled by comparison to the volume the other two had to offer, and as she casts them into Oni's clutches, that blanket begins to fill with items. Collecting what she could, after she picks up the first time, a few more disappear. It would seem the moment an item is claimed, the 'money' was spent. Using every last one until the sheet was laid empty. "Well, not quite the haul I was hoping for." A fair margin of equipment, she gestures for Moro and Maru to carry, given they had no weight restrictions. "But it suffices better than a few tokens that serve me none." Her gaze swaps back to Oni. "A pleasure doing business with you, perhaps in the future we will meet again." The notion that she could form a new route of trade far exceeded the value of what she attained, who knew what else Oni had that could appear on his little tapestry.

The warmth of an arm wrapped in tow with his own, pressed in a bit. "Hmm, well it's been a while. I remember staying out till like 1am one time with a couple other guys. We made out like kings, and then I got hella sick." The memory still haunted him to this day, he was puking whoppers for about 3 days after. Gaius wasn't one for moderation, but that event had done a little to stem it. To this day, he still couldn't stand those little malt ball candies, getting the nausea by the smell alone. Joining Freya in her little exchange, not quite up to the same quantity the girl had mustered. But that came to the fact that he was on familiar babysitting duty a little more often than not. He still had a surprising amount of them regardless, and managed to make it out with a fair number of items before the blanket was completely empty. Half that shit he hands immediately to Simmone's creepy as shit NPC twins.

Floundering as she skittered into the sea of colors, all the decorations were in danger. As those rapid spinning wheels that were her legs continued to buzz back and forth from location to location, one can catch the wake of damage behind her. "Whats dis?!" Shiina extrudes as she drops like a stone on Oni's lap. Oni plays out his spiel, which I won’t repeat because copy paste rule. The NPC recoils as she flops onto the rug, and pops her head into her clothes like a turtle. Eventually she ejects, and a spray of tiny seeds litter the rug. "These things?" she picks one up and shoves the raw pumpkin seed into her mouth. Her face twists from excitement into one of discomfort. Blowing a raspberry as the thing escapes at pretty fair speed, latching itself to Oni's cheek. "Those, yes." almost irritated as he pulls it off. "Gross, You can have them, gimme stuff." The blanket begins to fill, and the girl starts to shovel all the 'souvenirs' into her pockets, with a backpack in the shape of a rabbit. Yes a rabbit.

"I wasn't planning to waste all day here anyway. I got shit to do." Celeste remarks to Lium casting a pile of pumpkin seeds into Oni's hands. The NPC still seemed pretty irritated, trying to get Shiina off of his rug to pester someone else. Celeste steps over the rug rat and grabs a couple items, her fair share for her own hard work. "Freakin' gremlin." The red head sighs escaping the waddling and spinning child like wonder. For the first time in ages, she didn't have to wait for Lium. Right out the front gates, keeping up with the player that was getting the f out of dodge. That pile of crap she got? Crammed into a portable hole dimension that was Aincrad's inventory system. Her shop was a clear reflection on how much she cared about organizing and cataloging her gains. Nope, it's just in a closet that would spill out the moment she opened the door.

A bit nervous, she clung to that red robe, hyper sensitive to every bit of movement around her. Shown to the platform, Ruri did as she was asked. "He isn't going to turn into like an enemy or anything, is he?" Immediately on the defensive. Looking back through a pair of lenses, "You'll be fine, I am right here." A harsh swallow, knowing she was being a bit of a baby. "Whatever, if you're so sure. I expect you to deal with it then." A small scattering of pumpkin seeds fall into Oni's palms, and she picks something out that stuck her fancy. A single little flag, unsure what it did, but she wanted it. The visit was held in the twilight hours before other players would really show. Once it started into a more reasonable time of day, both her and her guide left. For another day of teaching and traveling, slowly making her accustomed to the world that had forgotten her completely.
