Background:

Kieran grew up with a small family in Ireland, they had a good life and decent money, but they weren’t too well off. Kind of unremarkable. Kieran’s grades were good, or would’ve been had he not missed so much school on account of being suspended. You see, Kieran always took to protecting his ilk, and namely his younger sister Andrea. At first he fought other kids simply to get a handle on the fighting, but eventually, as they got older people picked on his sister, and Kieran wouldn’t stand for that. A simple remark in any kind of negative light could set him off. His sister would worry about him because at first, she was the one stuck making sure he was okay after the fights, but as he got better, he would stop relying on her.

Still, seeing her get sad at him fighting made him feel like garbage, so he learned how to cheer her up. After getting suspended, it was very common for Kieran to dote on his sister, taking extra care of her and helping her with her homework. Most commonly though, he would make her tea.

When Kieran was about 12 years old, his father passed away, and while Andi was really too young to remember much, Kieran was stuck with a promise he made to his old man. His dad was a bit of an old fashioned guy, “protect your family” he always said. This promise Kieran made was a bit much for a 12 year old boy. “Protect your sister, no matter what.” You’d be surprised to see what that kind of promise meant to the boy.

The fights he got into got far more intense, and with the emotional stress Kieran felt, his mind blocked his voice. He was almost always silent, and no one really pushed him to heal. So naturally he never fully did. Just fighting and getting suspended. Of course, he even stopped talking to his sister, but starting taking extra care of her even when he wasn’t causing her grief. One day though, after years without a word, a kid was pushing the line in school, and Andi was the focus of it. Quickly, Kieran jumped on a table and drew all of the attention to himself. As the kid’s friends approached, Kieran gave it his all. While his sister might say he fought them all flawlessly, Kieran knows he pretty much lost in a shut out.

After that, the two grew closer, and started playing games together. One day, she told him about the newest game, and they decided to hop right in. After that message from Kayaba, Kieran decided to become the strongest player in order to protect his sister.

Virtues

  1. Protective- Growing up, Kieran loved the idea of being strong and protecting those he cares for. The boy has always had his sister and mother to take care of, so he learned that he can protect anyone he wants as long as he saw them as family. So as long as he sees you as family, or something similar, he will never stop protecting you.
  2. Kind(ish)- So long as you don’t seem like a threat to his sister, Kieran is quite friendly. He will gladly make someone tea if his sister says you’re okay, and will listen to their rambling uninterrupted. The boy is not intentionally mean for any reason, and a lack of words often lead to kinder and more sensible actions.
  3. Dependable- If the boy agrees to do something he absolutely will. In fact, he will absolutely stop at nothing to achieve the goal of whatever he agreed to do. Unless of course, it requires him to put his sister in danger, at which point he will have to find a way around that obstacle to get the job done.

Flaws

  1. Untrusting- Kieran knows just how underhanded people can be, and while he doesn’t care if he himself is screwed over, his sister is another story. Often he can be almost cold to those he meets, and will take every word they say with a grain of salt. In fact, if he hasn’t threatened you at least once, you can bet he will not help you in the slightest.
  2. Protective- Often seen as a good thing, Kieran can take protection a bit over the top. Because of his complete lack of trust in others, the kid is likely to damage relationships with others over a simple misunderstanding, and completely willing to cut ties with someone he cares for in the name of protecting his sister. His primary goal is her safety, and absolutely no price is too high.
  3. Silent- Due to his loss, Kieran shuts people out. Words just seem to pull up the emotions he’s kept hidden since he was a boy. On top of that, he’d prefer if his last words were the promise to his father, unless they’re words to his sister he would likely not give that luxury up.
