Clarex 0 Posted February 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2022 (edited) Profile: Username: Clarex Real name: Claire Xenophyra Age: 23 Gender: Female Height: 5’ 6” Background: Claire was born to a pair of wealthy parents who both worked in the tech industry. Technology, machines, computers, games, all of it surrounded Claire at an early age and sucked her into a digital life. She would say that she remembered more of her upbringing from YouTube videos and games than her busy parents. Thankfully, Claire never needed to worry about little things like bills, food, etc. She grew up spoiled, but her father made an extra effort to teach Claire the manners and virtues of a responsible citizen. To Claire's dismay, this meant her having to work for an allowance, to go to public school, take the bus, buy her own clothes, cook her own meals, etc.. She always viewed her father as strict and unloving although the contrary could be said. Her mother, on the other hand, often snuck Claire a little extra money, a little extra surprise, and granted her a bit of leniency for her mistakes as a youth. In her teenage years, Claire predictably rebelled. She went through a gothic phase and hung with an unsavory crowd, careful not to reveal her family's wealth. Her father protested this behavior and even her mother warned against her actions. Claire continued and mingled with the groups to the point of dating a young man from a bad part of town. It was during this relationship that Claire became incredibly humbled. She thought he was kind, but he quickly became controlling, manipulative, and abusive. One major event unfortunately hospitalized the girl and unleashed her father's wraith upon the boyfriend's family. Never before had Claire seen her father so distraught from worry nor her mother so aggressive. Sobered by the consequences of her decisions and the actions of those she associated with, Claire changed her heart. Claire finished high school at a different campus with distinction and remained studious. She built a circle of friends who struggled with their own hardships and often provided her advice based off her experiences. These friends stayed in contact through video games and social media as Claire went to college. In college, her parents trusted her with her own loft apartment. With her declared major in computer science and a minor is psychology, Claire wanted to find a way to use games to help people deal with trauma or social handicaps. This was how she came into her NerveGear and one of 10,000 copies of Sword Art Online. Her parents, supportive of her studies, acquired one through their connections and mailed it to Claire as an early birthday gift. Little did she know that her excitement would quickly remind her of the entrapment from so many years ago. Kayaba controlled her life now, and Claire was stuck as one of his many puppets. Virtues Compassionate Through the experiences in her life, Claire understands trauma, pain, sadness, and fear. She knows how dark the world can be and how to seek out the light. With her past, she wishes to lift up those around her to avoid the darkest depths that always wait below. Claire is quick to lend her help to those who ask or for those who need. Free Spirited Being born in a wealthy family has unshackled Claire from the constraints of finances. She is used to doing what she wants when she wants. This leads to a strong passion for life and adventure. Her feet carry her onward almost recklessly, but the energy she puts into her adventures shines brightly in her actions. Driven Claire is a very determined girl. Once she sets her mind on something, she commits wholly. This is double edged blade can easily cut through the obstacles in her way, but too much of a good thing can backfire. Flaws Emotionally Vulnerable Claire has experienced some traumatic events in her life. She is apprehensive of others that she trusts and expects betrayal. While she often tries to use her experiences as a pillar of support for others, it lingers as a painful scar on her mind. Nights of crying, thoughts of paranoia, and erratic reactions to extreme anger are an unfortunate norm for her. Self-Defeating Her intentions, while often positive, tend to stir up negative memories. While trying to help others based off her experiences, she often sees her own weakness and begins to blame herself for those shortcomings. Having rich and successful parents also places a large burden on her. Claire often tries to seek the approval of authority figures and when they aren't doting, she feels inadequate. These thoughts of negativity tend to limit her potential to believe in herself. I mean, look at her username- a typo of her first and last name in the wrong field! Shy After High School, Claire became much more reserved. She trusted her circle of friends that she gained and kept through games, but spent little time getting to know new people. The age disparity and the general personality types of those she studied with catered to introversion. So, with a side serving of trust issues thanks to her ex boyfriend, Claire carries herself in public with caution.
