"You move fast, you can dodge out of the way," Koga grumbled, echoing NIGHT's words as he lifted his sword again to face the demoness as she crawled out of the pit her impact had created. Just in time to watch the woman lunge at NIGHT in retaliation. Both the player's shifted out of the way, NIGHT rolling to the side, whilst Koga slid backwards out of reach of any follow up attacks.

"Yeah, yeah, I believe you," the man  said to NIGHT with a frown. "Man, I must be rustier than I thought if that attack of yours threw me off-guard," he sighed, eyes still fixed on Lilith. Might as well chat since the monster-woman didn't seem to pose much of a challenge to the two Frontliners. "Haven't you pulled something like that before? Or was that someone else?" he asked with a glance. Or maybe another game. Probably another game.

"huh? pulled what?" night paused, trying to think. immediately, she was distracted by the tell from lilith, scurrying back onto her feet with a prepared counter, the demoness lunging forth with a flurry of strikes. the player threw herself forward, shoulder leaning into her blade, holding out against the attack as she could in that awkward grip. "bunny out of a hat? ...cat out the bag?"

then she rolled out the way again on instinct, allowing lilith's momentum to push herself into a nearby wall. night struck her blade out against the ground, leveraging its weight to carry her self upwards, before delivering an overhead strike where their foe had stood stunned, scatterbrained. the recoil sent lilith stumbling koga's way – that's when night finally put two and two together. 

"oh, the roll?" she breathed, buying time. "no, i'm pretty sure i've done it before. a game maneuver, sure, don't most action rpgs let you do this kind of thing though? haven't you done it yourself, too?"

"No, no, not that," Koga said as he swung again at the demoness, his blade flashing by and slicing nothing but air before striking the ground at NIGHT's feet. Cracks spider-webbed across it's surface as it cracked, and Lilith, mockingly, smirked at him. "Stop moving around so much," the black-clad swordsman growled at her.

"I mean the spinny, dive thingy. Isn't that a move from an old game. Like a dragoon thing?" Koga carried on, slowly walking around Lilith to be at her backside, putting the demoness between the two players. Maybe if she could only focus on one of them, her exposed rear would be easier for Koga to strike. Or maybe the dice of Fate just hated him, and his writer had the worst luck in the world. Either way, Koga lazily twirled his sword as he found his place on the other side of Lilith. "Hot grey haired lady. Probably came from stuff earlier, but that's the one I remember."

"skill issue," night remarked, immediately taking koga's place in the fight with the flash of her sword. a chime, and the light that cut through lilith threatened to tear the woman's form in half, [/color]save it stitching itself back together through aincrad's means. the player staggered to catch herself from the momentum she'd built, had her strike missed. then night let her weapon return to the void.

"I mean the spinny, dive thingy. Isn't that a move from an old game? Like a dragoon thing?"

they'd circled lilith, then, night's gaze on the freaky weird man she'd come in with. gentle paces gave way to fleeting thoughts.

"a dragoon thing," night repeated. she'd scrunched at the character mention. "huh? hot lady? no, i'm pretty sure i would've remembered if it was a woman. wasn't it a guy instead? in blue spikey armor? named after his butt or something with the innuendos?"

then she considered a little more, her eyes off the creep to lilith instead. "if you mean the fall earlier... no, that's more of what sora did, right? the guy from kingdom hearts. his combat style was always more floaty, anyway."

What else was Koga going to do but frown at NIGHT at the mention of 'skill issue'. She wasn't exactly wrong. But she wasn't exactly right. In either case it irked him, but being such a gracious and well-mannered player, the swordsman let it go as Lilith collapsed into a crumpled corpse on the ground.

"That's it?" Koga couldn't help but question with a raised brow before he turned towards the strange man that seemed to act as Lilith's superior. There was a slight shrug before the swordsman looked towards NIGHT again and continued with their conversation. "Can't say I'm familiar with that one." For a game developer, Koga had been shockingly ignorant about many games, back in the real world. Not that that mattered to much now.

"Look at that. You managed to defeat one of my pawns. She'll come back after a little bit, but would that really be any fun?" the strange man smirked at the two players. "Hey, we're having a conversation here, do you mind?" Koga sniped at the man who frowned. "Fine then." The man snapped his fingers and-

"Jesus fucking Christ!" Koga recoiled from the now resurrected Lilith, his face twisted into a look of disgust aimed at the vampiress' new grotesque form.

"Ohhhhkay, time to go night-night," Koga said to the...thing, before slamming his katana over it's head with a burst of golden light.

"Hows that for skill issue?"

frankly, night was more wrong than right at her commentary to koga from prior -- as soon as lilith picked herself back off the ground through some elaborate yet unexplained sorcery from cardinal's part, so too did she flub a strike as she stumbled backwards, trying to avoid its notice. she was under the presumption that they were having a conversation... and it simply never happened.

"god damn," she muttered, watching koga dodge out of the way of lilith's retaliation, no matter how inaccurate the strike from the latter may have been. night shook herself awake, just as the two stacks of light momentum acted as her promise of a strike later. "yeah, okay. i take it back... so you'd better take back that little night night joke yourself."

the player skirted the edges of combat, trying to pin lilith between them -- surely, that way, they'd get a chance to string a set of attacks without missing, right? in her paces over, night hollered to koga, "you know, for a game development major, you sure don't remember a lot! what have you played, even?"

Oh, how Koga felt the urge to make a friendly jab at NIGHT for missing her attack, especially when she had just done the same exact thing only moments earlier. Sweet, sweet vengeance could have been his. Sadly for the swordsman, he was currently dealing with the fact that Lilith was trying to swipe at him with her long finger-claws, and man did that look like a back time.

Falling back, and lifting his sword into a high guard, Koga barely heard NIGHT's dual apology and quip. "Alright, alright!" the man grumbled, "I take it back, now could you hit this thing, please! Bitch is creepin' me out." Seriously, stop staring like that Lilith, the red glowing eyes were making Koga uncomfortable.

From behind his guard, Koga felt moderately safer in continuing the conversation he'd been having with NIGHT, in any case. "I mean do you want the whole list?" the man said with a raised brow. "We might be here for a while. A few platformers, puzzlers. Mostly RPGs and shooters," he summarized. Admittedly, Koga had played painfully few games for someone who wanted to become a game developer, but that was what happened when he grew up without access to the majority of game-playing devices.

"you're kidding," she hollered back, half-hearted. it wasn't so much that koga's exposure had disappointed her that much. rather, between lilith's artful skips despite its monstrous, quadrupedal form, so too was night sort of hoping there would've been some sort of familiarity in the titles they both experienced. but those simply weren't the genres she was exactly into.

one leap while lilith was distracted with koga, the man keeping it actively focused on himself through some means -- with safety precautions, even. she struck the monster in the back, a cut down that bulging spine visible against thin, molted skin, and night landed with a huff, ready to weave around the boss for another attack.

"yeah, i want a list," the player decided, the volume in her voice raised not in dissent. "i used to play indie titles; real niche projects. games that were more cinematic than mechanically heavy -- but that doesn't mean i haven't had a hand on them before. you ever hear of ofk or a space for the unbound?"

An exasperated sigh left Koga's lips as his eyes locked with Lilith's. As unnerving as they were, he wasn't quite ready to just roll over and die yet, and the creepy undead thing definitely had it out for him. "Can't say I've heard of either," Koga called back to NIGHT as he waited for Lilith to attack.

Apparently the creature saw Koga's general nonchalance towards the whole affair as a taunt, because she immediately launched herself at Koga. His his guard already up, it didn't take much for Koga to avoid the blow, only sidestepping and allowing Lilith to collide with his readied blade. That single movement, accompanied by a quick slash across her chest put Koga in the perfect position to attack again. His sword alit itself with pure white flame as he brought the weapon down across Lilith's back, right where NIGHT had struck her moments ago.

There were screams. And fire. And a very pleased smirk from Koga as he watched Lilith's  health bar drop sharply.

"Uh, let's see," he said to NIGHT, formulating a notable list of games he'd played. "Anno: Mutationem, whole Metro series, Haven, Only If." He mostly was trying to think of non-mainstream games he might share in common with her, but frankly was coming up with mostly blanks. "I dunno man, I didn't grow up with a computer and stuff. What did you play?"

"no way."

she'd huffed, watching koga's actually-decent-blade light up once he'd been able to catch lilith in a counter. the man had slid around the monster just to keep her within range. night cleared the leap past koga and onto their target --- this time calling her sword to chime out against it. with another set of sparks, and a douse of bright light that struck the horror down in a pillar, night skipped to the floor with a few hops, watching their enemy stumble and groan.

their conversation -- she didn't forget it. the games, however, she might've. and as her brain churned to pull out the titles from her poor memory, she shuffled around the battleground, just to keep herself on her toes for when lilith would lash out again.

in another time, she would've remarked that anno was a title that seemed to fit koga. for now...

"no, no -- metro's cool, but i haven't played it. no horror games." she quirked a brow at the mention of the third title, however, discarding the last. "haven's a game i haven't heard of in a while. isn't that the one you could play as a couple? how'd that go? ... they never let you customize your characters beyond a gender update, did they...?"
