Background:

An Irish man who recently moved to America, Nick was kind of nervous about starting a new life, expecting to be surprised pleasantly or otherwise. He's heard good and bad things about America, but decided to go after being accepted to a University well known for their computer science department. Nick has always been a fan of computers, ever since he was young, spending most of his days playing games online with friends or learning to program himself. His parents weren't fans when he told them about his dream of being a programmer, saying it was much more of a hobby than a lifestyle, though he disagreed with the modern day reliance on technology. When he was accepted to his university, he saw a chance to prove himself to his parents, even if he was in a completely different country now.

 

When he arrived, he dedicated himself to his studies and keeping a steady lifestyle, with a side job helping out at a resturaunt. While there, he also took in intrerest in cooking, making that his actual hobby, though people thought it wasn't masculine enough. He's never been one for sports though, he's always been a fan of his games, which was piqued even more when a classmate of his brought up a new game called Sword Art Online, a game in which people could immerse themselves directly into their characters, like they were actually in the bodies. Excited to try it for himself, after class he ran right to the local game store and was able to buy, luckily, their last copy, truly this must've been a sign. Nick ran right back home, plugged his nervegear in, and began playing, with little knowledge that he'd just started playing the most dangerous game of his life.

 

Virtues

 

Compassionate:

Noel has never been one to sit back while others suffer or are in trouble, he always tries to step in and help, even at the cost of himself. He would rather take a punch for someone if they were getting beat on, rather than running to get help or find a figure of authority to break it up. Some may see his actions as reckless, but he sees it as being able to help or even save people, though that person is rarely if ever himself.

 

Charitable:

Giving to others is one of Noel's biggest sources of joy, seeing their smiles as they recieve gifts, especially if it's one he made by hand. Noel takes any opportunity to make things for other people, because when he does it gives him a feeling of usefulness. Good people are worth gifts from the heart, so whenever he meets someone of a kind spirit, he will do what he can to show his appreciation.

 

Expression:

Noel is always willing to hear the thoughts of others, even if it's something he personally doesn't agree with. His ears are always open to anyone and everyone, beleiving that even bad people have their reasons for doing what they do, trying to listen and see if he can understand their actions through their eyes. He may not always find success, but he also realizes that some people only need someone to listen for their problems and burdens to be relieved.

 

 

Flaws

 

Naive: 

While he tries to see the good in everyone, that will usually land Noel in trouble, because he doesn't understand that some people are bad and harmful to others just because they feel like it. He is quick to trust others, and that normally lands him in trouble when they start asking him for money and other things, thinking he'll be paid back and that he isn't just being used. When faced with two people arguing, he'll try his hardest to find a middle ground, even if one doesn't actually exist, and that will lead to more anger and burnout.

 

Reckless:

Noel has always wanted to be seen as a hero by others, but sometimes he confuses heroic actions with stupid and reckless actions. He will rish head first into a hoard of monsters if there isn't anyone to tell him to slow down or hold him back. He wants to save others but normally ends up being the one who needs saving, being more like a child than a hero.

 

Overzealous:

There's being great at something and there's being bad, to Noel, there is no in between. Noel is quick to be disheartened when he isn't perfect at something on his first try, mainly because he wants others to be proud of him for his usefullness, though he doesn't understand that good work takes time. He's always wanted to prove himself as useful, even if others already see him that way, he moreso needs to prove it to himself before he truly begins to see it.
