- History

Minho Lee was born on June 23, 2000, in a small hospital in the province of Jeonju, South Korea. He was the middle child of 3 siblings, with an older and younger sister. His father was an executive of a worldwide company, and constantly had to travel around the world. As a result, the family at home usually consisted of Minho, his two sisters, and their mother. Maybe it was because of this environment of being surround by females, but Minho grew up to be a timid child, one that would rather sit in the shadow than stand in the spotlight. He made few friends, and generally spent most of his time inside his room, on the internet or online games.

In around his late elementary school years, he got more and more into the Japanase otaku culture, almost to the point of obsession. By the end of middle school, he was able to speak Japanese quite well, albeit with a Korean accent, and ran an anime/gaming blog named Crossroad Winds, which was pretty popular in Korea. He also gained popularity, not only as Strum, the admin of Crossroad Winds, but also as Strum, the 12th nationally ranked player of Starcraft, and 26th ranked internationally. Although he was given several offers of becoming a professional Starcraft player, he declined them all as he felt more passion toward his otaku hobby than his gaming one.

Halfway through his first year of highschool, Minho’s mother suddenly fell sick with an illness. When took to the hospital, she was diagnosed with end-stage chronic liver cancer, and was told that she had but one or two months to live. After a month of suffering and struggling with cancer, she quietly passed away in her sleep. As her husband had been too busy to look after their children, she had been a constant pillar of support for Minho and his sisters. The unconditional love of a mother cannot be truly replaced, but the sixteen year old Minho and his older sister, Mina, who was 19 at the time, did their best to console the youngest sister, Minju, who was only 12. Due to the constant absence of their father, the siblings became quite close, and supported each other to make up for their lack of parental support. After his monther’s demise, Minho matured greatly and firmly decided on getting into Tokyo University.

It was this dream of his that motivated him to study hard throughout highschool, and was rewarded for his hard work with the realization of his dream. His father, regretting his inability to stay with his children and be the pillar of support that they had been missing since their mother’s death, decided that it was the least he could do to fully support the decisions that his children had made and worked hard to accomplish on their own, and paid to buy him an apartment in Japan. After heartwrenching goodbyes with his siblings, Minho boarded the plane to Japan and began his life in this new world.

In his undergraduate junior year, Minho recieved a peculiar PM on his Crossroad Winds blog. An anonymous user asked him if he wanted to beta test a game called Sword Art Online. He would have just simply ignored the message as spam, but something in the message caught his eye. VRMMORPG? “A mass multiplayer online rpg that uses the newly developed full dive system...†Overcome by his curiosity, he decided to see where the url took him to. Little did he know how much his life would change from his simple decision to do so...

» Virtues:

- Kind. Toward children only. Perhaps it comes from raising his younger sister, but he has a soft spot for children. He tends to spoil the children he meets, and is generally well loved for this attitude as well.

- Patient. Something that comes with the ability to deal with children. His indifference also comes into factor here, as Minho can generally persevere through most situations without showing an outburst of emotions, even if he finds it uncomfortable or distasteful.

- Calculating. A double-edged sword, this side of Minho's personality was developed as he tried to adapt to society after spending 14 years of his life as a social outcast and sharpened through his majoring in psychology. He has the tendency to read people's thoughts and emotions before deciding how to deal with a situation. However, this does make him rather oblivious to emotions he is inexperienced in (i.e. love).

» Flaws:

- Timid. Being on the spotlight is something that Minho has hated, even feared, from childhood. His worst nightmare as a child was to be thrown onto a stage and forced into a spotlight, with thousands of eyes watching him. Just thinking about it gives him the shivers.

- Indifferent. Minho rarely feels more than pity for the general populace. Most of the emotions that he would feel toward others are overwhelmed by his desire to stay far, far away from them and their problems.

- Withdrawn. A direct result of his timidity and indifference, Minho's general image is one of a cool, withdrawn lone wolf who doesn't interact with others. One that he himself thinks isn't too off.
