Taken off guard, the <> struck Miaki with it's pincers which was followed by a numbing pain. Looking at his health bar in his field-of-vision, Miaki noticed it was a poison effect. "Oh I can tell that Im going to enjoy this..." He said as he watched the spider's movements. It appeared slightly armored with a hardened shell of a sort. Miaki hoped that following video game logic this creature would have a soft underbelly to target. Now to just expose the weak point he told himself as he jumped in to attack.

Battle Result: Missed

The <> seemed to be ready for Miaki's attack as it jumped back and held up its front legs prepared to give a counter attack. Miaki felt the poison course through his veins as he moved around the battle floor.

Backing up after after failing from his first attack Miaki felt the poison give him a stabbing pain which caused him to flinch. In that very instant the <> pressed the advantage and scored another critical hit. Using the spider's momentum of rushing him, Miaki hoped to catch it off guard and strike without having to move much.

His plan failed and all he struck was empty airspace.

Being overly cautious of the next attack after taking to really hard hits, Miaki backed up out of range as soon as hit previous attack missed the spider. The poison effect harming him was over and he had no plans of getting hit like that again just yet. "Damnit! Stay still!" Miaki yelled as he swiped at the creature again.

Hanging from a single thick strand of webbing, the <> spun around and struck Miaki knocking him back just barely missing a hole that lead to the main floor of the tree. Looking at the hole with wide eyes he rolled away then jumped to his feet with his katana ready. Holding his ground he waited for an opening to strike the underbelly.

Almost there Miaki told himself then he would press on and climb this dungeon with a determined goal in mind. He would reach the top. Today. But first he had to dispose of the infestation in front of him. Watching how the spider swayed around, Miaki held his weapon behind him, much like how a baseball player would hold a bat.

As the <> swung back for another hit, Miaki slashed forward with vigor and cut right through the spider's underbelly.

With the <> finally defeated nothing was standing between Miaki and advancing further. He stretched his arms and torso before sheathing his blade. The combat music he once heard faded away and was replaced with the track he heard before. The room which he called the second floor was rather plain like the one before it. Miaki, realizing how large the tree was, didnt waiting around and began jogging towards the next ladder leading up to the next floor. He knew full well that if he took too long he'd either have to leave the dungeon and start over again or rest in some safe zone within. Grasping the side of the ladder he rushed up it like a man on a mission.

Climbing the ladder, Miaki was beginning to wonder if he would reach the top today. He had been grinding through <> for hours on end taking breaks to eat and drink. Every so often one of the larger branches of the tree had a large opening which allowed for one to walk out and get a glimpse of just how high up they were. He only did this a couple times but during his last venture he was faint and nearly slipped off. After that he decided to stay inside where there was a less likely chance of falling. The few times he caught a glimpse of the outside since then he was always higher and higher but could never tell if he was any closer to reaching the top.The light pouring in was turning everything to an orange hue resembling the fall. It also reminded him that it was getting very late.

He was amazed at how long he had been going on his own. His stamina levels were staying steady despite how long he had been fighting. He was growing a little concerned that if he didn't reach the top he'd have to turn back. But if he did that then the dungeon would reset and he'd be back at the drawing board.

'I've got to be near the end. I've been out here all day.' He kept telling himself as he pressed forward.

Miaki had three options before him: retreat, reach the top, or find a safe zone.

The last safe zone he was in was multiple stories down and that was an hour or so ago. When he was there he took time to rest a short while and replenish himself. The room was something players could find in dungeons that was completely safe of monsters and was a non-combat zone so you were also safe from PKers. Miaki hadn't seen a single person though since he left the last town this morning and didn't think he'd be seeing any until he was done and returned back to the fourth floor.

Seeing a large stairwell that looped around to the next floor, Miaki climbed it at a normal walking pace. As he reached the top he saw that the floor he was on was very open in space and lacked any holes that one could fall through. The room was a little dim and the music he once heard was fading out. He reached for his katana <> and drew it slowly.

"Show time."

"Intruder!" The <> cried as it sped out from the the shadows where it first was. The creature move remarkably faster than Miaki expected at first. It's entirety was made of the bark of a tree. A light brown with thin but strong limbs. Simply by looking at you would know that it relied on speed over strength. It wasn't at all walking heavily about the room like the ents described in his books. This on moved with the speed of a gust it seemed like.

With his blade out Miaki held his ground waiting for the <> to get closer before striking. After all he had been fighting through the dungeon all day and he didn't want to exhaust himself before the fight even began.

The <> dashed around getting closer and closer. With only a couple meters between them Miaki covered the last of the distance and slashed forward in a lunging motion hitting the treant.

Coming around with a back fist the treant missed Miaki entirely as the <> sidestepped and evaded the attack. Drawing first blood was always a nice thing to do but it was even better when the enemy missed following the first strike. It gave a person that deceptively good feeling a a leading edge. This was both good and bad for fighters as it could possibly lead to cockiness. Miaki keep his feet moving and his opponent in front of him at all times. Understanding that his stamina was lower than he would've intended from fighting and climbing through <> and the considerable speed of the <>, Miaki didn't want to chase after it and get himself killed. He'd exhaust himself in no time. The treant moved in for another strike and Miaki held his ground, ready to counter.

Battle result: Massive Crit! 8 DMG!

Just before the dungeon boss swung at Miaki he swung at it and attacked when it was most vulnerable. He struck it right in the right arm joint and smiled at seeing a critical hit was dealt.

Swing and a miss! That was the case again for the <> that Miaki was fighting. If things kept up then this battle would be over in no time. This wasn't the time to get overconfident. Miaki still had drained a large amount of his stamina fighting all day. A few lucky hits and the tides could change at a moments notice. But in the mean time he would enjoy a few solid hits he had dealt. Long as things continued the way they were.

Nearly getting hit by the <>'s swing. Miaki could feel the wind of the treant's attack on his face as he narrowly dodged the attack. Reeling his arm back Miaki swung while the two were still in such close proximity.
