But thankfully, it was too slow and Sotarou dodged out of the way just in time, one of the spikes coming seriously close to gouging his face out. Link to post Share on other sites

This time, Sotarou got out of the way with plenty of time to spare. He was learning its attack patterns... and that was a good thing. Link to post Share on other sites
Sotarou 0 Posted July 24, 2014 Author #24 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Sotarou used the appendage on the ground as a stepping stone, figuratively speaking, and pushed himself up towards the creature's head. He hoped to do more damage up this high... but not so much! His movement was too erratic for him to get a clean cut in an open spot and the blade painlessly glided off of the Stone Elemental's rock-hard face. Turning and using the momentum in the turn as it brought the large spiked arm around to deal a devastating blow! Thankfully, not a crit... but it still hit pretty badly! He started this fight, and by joe, he was going to finish it! Something within him surged... and he felt himself much faster as a result! He felt like nothing could touch him anymore! He dashed forward, blade outreached as he struck for his foe! It hit, but the ability didn't proc... but the thing had been damaged enough that its reaction time was much slower... and Sotarou was actually able to dodge the incoming hit! Sotarou 0 Posted July 24, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Another couple of strikes like that, and Sotarou'd be done with this floor and headed back to the safety of Floor 1... he just had to get at least 3 more attacks in and it'd be all over! With that in mind, he swung again! But missed... the pain he was feeling right now was impairing his ability to strike... even though it increased his movement and dodging speed. And it was going to take every ounce of his power to pull it off... and with the adrenaline flowing heavily through him, his vision unclouded for the briefest of seconds... as he noticed a chink. A small gap... but enough. His Curved Sword swung fast and hard, coming through the point for a very severe critical hit! And it was over! The large Mini-Boss exploded in a shower of shards! And that was it for him this go around... he'd get more materials later... after he'd healed up proper... Link to post Share on other sites
Sotarou 0 Posted July 24, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted July 24, 2014 It took him some time, but he finally made it back to the <> with the small amount of mats... it was just a little bit over the amount needed for the quest to be finished... so it wouldn't be much for him to try crafting too much. But that didn't matter for now... he was just happy to be safe. He had left that area with 3 damage left to him... if he had gotten into a fight right after that Mini Boss, it'd have been all over for him! But thankfully, he was safe. And he was going to turn in his quest and finally get the ability to craft weapons and armor! It was about time!
