[OP-F1] The Journey begins (Complete)

"Don't give up! We can do this! Just focus."

Amtrum's words rung in Garou's head as time seemed to slow down. A calmness settled over his fury as he felt as one with his mind, body, and soul (even if his SAO body was merely a reflection of his real physique). The cool phase became swamped by violent rage as the boy roared, digging his fingers into the weak wolf's virtual skin. He tossed it in front of him and slapped it in the face with the blunt side of his longsword, causing it to disperse into the typical blue shards. Garou snorted angrily as he looked at Amtrum and tilted his head to the last wolf.

One left. They had turned the fight around with his leadership. He could do this. He could win this game.

"Alright flank it. I'll strike first and you finish it!"

He shifted away from Garou so that the wolf was between them. He brought the sword back and then lunged forward, the blade ripping through the wolf's hind quarters. A deep red gash of data opening on it. It's hit points dropping to the Red zone. All that was left was for Garou to finish it off once and for all!

Garou brought down his sword, but the anger in his body turned to pain. He fell to his knees as his whole body shook. W-What? Please, God! Don't tell me that my parents are unplugging me! Garou's sword struck the ground bluntly as he grasped his head and reached up in terror. The incredibly weak wolf bit his wrist in its death throes, bring his HP down to an ungodly number.

ONE.

HP: 1

He saw his partner's HP drop to one and his heart skipped a beat. His jaw clenched as he watched the kid miss. He was tempting death and if he died here it was going to be his fault. He couldn't let the kid die. He should have insisted they fight boars for a few levels. He was stupid.

"Get out of here kid!"

He brought his sword back charging it up for a sword skill. His eyes narrowing before lunging forward. His blade connecting with the wolf's head, slicing through it and causing it to explode in blue. The last of the wolves were down and they were both still alive. Slumping forward and digging his blade into the ground, using it to support his weight he let out a long and deep exhale.

"Jesus that was too close."

The pseudo-pain Garou felt died away as he lay crippled, looking up at his partner. He gasped fresh joy as he saw his HP rise to 2/14, the natural healing factor of SAO kicking in. He smiled as he panted, trying to catch his breath. Garou slowly rose to his feet as his body shivered like it he was at the North Pole in his boxers. The boy hobbled over towards Amtrum as his health raised another point. The wind continued to blow from before, allowing Garou's in game muscles to began relaxing. It didn't matter if it was the wind or his slowly rising health that made him feel better; all that did matter was that the two players were alive.

As he reached 4 HP, Garou sat down roughly in front of Amtrum. He gave the man a weak but sure grin. "Now you see... why I... gah, want one..." The purple-haired swordsman was still out of breath from the fight.

Maybe it was the stress from nearly dying. Maybe it was just a way to break the tension, but laughter bubbled forth from Amtrum's lips at the kid's comment. Still talking about wanting a wolf. After all that, he was surprised the kid wanted to keep going with how close he had just come to buying the farm.

"Well fair enough kid. I still think I'd rather get strong enough to just take down any monster that comes my way though. If you come to rely on an NPC you might be in trouble if it dies. But I can see the value of it. And I wish you luck with it."

It wasn't a horrible idea. Just not one he was interested in pursuing as well.

The boy stretched his limbs as he beamed as his HP.

HP: 7/14

Garou yawned and chuckled some himself. "Well, I don't think it would really get in the way. It doesn't hurt to bring an extra knife to a gun fight, if you catch my drift." The boy hopped to his feet and finally sheathed his longsword. "I think that's enough testing fate for the day. What now?"

"I think I should probably try and find my friends. Make sure they are not doing anything stupid or reckless. But I'll tell you what. Why don't you add me as a friend. It doesn't hurt to know some people that can watch your back in a bind. And at least I know you won't go running and crying in a pinch."

He said with a grin. Slapping the kid on the shoulder. He held himself together pretty good out there. He was a little impressed with him. If he could learn to think there may be hope for him yet.

"Honestly, you kind of remind me of some of my buds. So you might even get along with them if you get to meet them sometime."

He said pulling up his menu and sending him a friend request.

Garou smiled at the man as he turned his body towards the Starting City. "Sounds like it would be swell," the boy responded warmly. "It'd be great to all get together and tear up a tavern or something. Except I'd have to fight the ladies off of you." Garou slugged Amtrum lightly in the arm before pressing a finger to the 'Accept' command on the Friend Request menu.

He was happy to have made a friend, but Garou started to remember something that caused him to frown. The other players could be dying at this given moment. It hurt his heart, but he know he needed rest; the lad was only human. Garou began walking back to the city as his mesmerizing purple hair blew around in the wind. "See you around Amtrum." The boy walked off as he waved back to the man, a proud stride carrying him back to shelter.

"Yeah, sure thing man. Just don't die. And I'll let you have some of my sloppy seconds."

He teased back with a grin. First friend in the game. He hoped that the kid didn't die. He wasn't the brightest bulb, but he had spirit. And that was a positive quality. He would head away from Garou and the city. Maybe his friends were outside the walls? It would be a Leon thing to do. He wanted to check around a little more first before looking in the city. Maybe he'd get lucky.

/end thread.
