Quote PROFILE Username: fauxkiller (Nickname: Faux) Real Name: Teki, Rufu Age: 20-22 Gender: Male Height: 5’9” Profession: n/a ★ BACKGROUND Rufu always had trouble in school. While his teachers would enjoy his quick wit and seemingly mature personality for his age, it would always eventually lead to the boy believing he was above the rules. He would dismiss his classmates and speak over adults. Rufu’s parents were very young when they had him, and truly weren’t ready for the responsibility. They were both movie producers and have their own company to manage, more interested in developing their reach in the entertainment industry than raising him. However, when they realized that Rufu was much unlike other children, they decided it was time to pull him from school. Although not their original intention in having him, they suddenly had big plans to make him a star. He was pulled from school at age 6. Rufu was a household name in his country by the age of 8 years old. They made him the star of a “reality” television series in which the self-proclaimed “child genius” would travel the world, learning about new cultures and teaching them about those that he had already experienced; especially that of his home country. It was a charming, feel-good show that received incredible publicity around the world. But, behind the scenes, Rufu was struggling. After the first season took off, like many other child stars, he was tossed and turned and thrown around for any profit gain the company could squeeze out of him. Soon, Rufu was being given scripts and very little of what actually came from his mind– his thoughts, in which the show was originally about– would matter. The show lasted for 5 years; or, until Rufu turned 13. At which point, the show was already beginning to drop in ratings and viewership; and, his parents decided that it was no longer an endeavor worth continuing. To Rufu, when the show was canceled, it felt like his parents almost immediately stopped caring about what he did. They would occasionally throw job offers to make some kind of corny appearance somewhere, telling him that since he’s incapable of receiving an education, he needs to at least make money to feed himself. He never understood why they couldn’t feed him, themselves. It was always maids, nannies, and family friends. Then, it would have to be himself. When he turned 18, he entered an intense legal battle with his parent’s publishing company that produced his show, who claimed they were entitled to a massive portion of this money. This was not a monetary battle for Rufu, but an emotional one in which outside of court he would try to understand why his parents were encouraging their lawyers to say the awful things they were saying. This leads to a huge familial riff forming between them. In a shocking revelation, after 2 years of appointed court dates, Rufu says that he will give his parents not only the portion they requested, but almost the entire fortune. Rufu would then spend the following years in his retreat cabin in the mountains; a decent property he purchased with the last bits of his fortune. He would continue to read frequently, spending his time as a video-game playing, book-hoarding hobbit. Much of these years was spent wondering if who he was had always been determined by his parents. He began to wonder what it would mean to travel the world as an adult on his own now, rather than as a child for the sake of making a company money. Perhaps, he begins to regret his life. It wouldn’t be until the announcement of SAO that Rufu would be inspired again. There it was (Aincrad), a new world to explore. A new beginning to dissect and uncover. He was determined to gain a spot, and prove to himself that his desire to understand the world isn’t inspired by fame or wealth, but by an unflinching curiosity. TL;DR - Rufu was a difficult child star with questionable parents. After making a fortune due to them forcing him into the spotlight, he gave much of it away and decided to live in solitude for several years. The announcement of SAO greatly inspired Rufu with a new world to explore once again, this time on his own. ________________________________________________________________________________ Virtues Spoiler Transparency: Those who manage to get past his initial abrasiveness will eventually come to admire his sense of honesty. Ultimately, Faux is somebody who always seeks knowledge. For this reason, he feels lies and deception are the ultimate betrayal of order. He believes those who lie actively grate against his governing motivator; that is, “to pursue the unknown.” Faux is fiercely loyal to those who are honest with him, and/or those who are willing to trust him despite his negative traits. Confidence: Faux knows he is smarter than the average bear in the real world, thus he feels very little pressure to impress or to act outside of his true nature. Faux is very comfortable in his own skin and rarely feels too intimidated or embarrassed by the world to act how he wants. This confidence, some would say, comes from his stardom at a young age, but it could be argued that this was what made his career in the first place. Unassuming Listener: Having traveled around the world and seen many-a-culture in his lifetime, Faux is rarely one to make quick assumptions or to judge someone solely on appearances. Faux is excellent at listening so that he can best understand whoever it is he is speaking with; and by use of this skill, he is great at analyzing adversaries. For many years as a child, none of the adults around him really cared what he had to say, so a part of him never wants to impart that feeling on others. Faux is quick to remind someone of something they said if they start to backtrack or alter their words. Flaws Spoiler Stiff Introvert: Faux is not an outwardly expressive person by nature, as stated before, thus typically relies on more robotic forms of friendliness in public situations (think customer service). This seems to appease most friendly people he meets, but also he tends to only have fleeting, harmless interactions with strangers. Faux is content exploring the natural ecological areas of the game on his own until he's ready to spend the rare weekend in a tavern. In passing conversation, he speaks in brief and matter-of-fact statements that can sometimes be perceived as sarcastic or straight up jerk-ish. When he is more engaged, Faux is usually still very straight-forward, but he is also very honest, sometimes to the point of making conversation tense (although his companions are typically people who appreciate this honesty). In argument, this mode of seeking the most sensical truth can frustrate his opposite. Anger Management: There is a heat simmering in Faux’s core at all times. Some days, he doesn’t feel it; but others, he struggles to dull that burn. Nowadays, his outbursts are far less common. This is due in part to his newfound obsession for video games, and to his adopting a particular apathy for himself– he embraces healthy and unhealthy levels of disregard for his life and by extension, the world around him, and this for better or for worse allows him to simply “go with the flow.” Sometimes this can simply come across as introversion; but, other times, seem menacingly nihilistic. Flirt: Although Faux can be quite sharp and intimidating, he is oddly prone to infatuation with particular strangers. Maybe because he is such an insular person, when strangers catch his attention for any particular reason he can become deeply intrigued. He is not good at hiding his affection, as he doesn't feel it often. So this can make him appear quite giggly and silly around the target. He doesn't realize how ominous this infatuation can be coming from a man of his disposition. This mode for Faux is quite rare. ________________________________________________________________________________ SKILLS WEAPON SKILLS Sabers (Rapier) Skill [ PASSIVE ] [ T2 - Journeyman ] Effect: +3 DMG [T2: +1] Spoiler [TOTAL CURRENT SP: 7/15] [SPENT SP: 8/15] HISTORY [+5 SP] Starter SP!
