Senno (千能)
Real name: Chinatsu Sano (知夏 佐能)
Age: 17 -> 19
Gender: Female
Height: 5'11"

Background:

Raised in a loving single parent household. Her mother had died serving Japan in the military when a young recruit misfired during explosives training which left Chinatsu to her father. Chinatsu watched as her mom went on to be forgotten. As far as Chinatsu was concerned she may as well never existed, her father was the real hero. Chinatsu holds a bitter grudge against her late mother and developed the belief that those who leave behind nothing are worthless. That bitterness stuck with her until she got into RPGs. There she could escape her world and become a hero. When news of SAO surfaced Chinatsu got hooked on the idea. She followed the development process throughout highschool. Through some forums on SAO she actually met Enti. He was heading into college and was a pursuing game dev himself. He was the one who introduced Chinatsu to fencing where she discovered a passion for sabre and took it up during highschool. Her dad worked longer hours to get Chinatsu fencing lessons, thus requiring Chinatsu to fend for herself most hours of the day. She grew up fast because of said independence and got her hands on a NerveGear. Both Chinatsu and Enti applied for the beta but only Enti got through because of his background. Chinatsu forgot about SAO for a while and tried out some other VR games In the meantime. Most of them were just proof of concepts made in a day or two, an hour of gameplay at the longest. They were rushed projects from data miners trying to play around with the headset.

This was short-lived when the full release of SAO was dropped a month later. Enti had been on Chinatsu’s case as there were limited copies so she snatched one up quickly. She laid down, put on the headset, and entered her prison. Chinatsu was familiar with the movement of VR so it wasn’t too terrible of a transition. She met up with Enti and he showed her some of the early grinding spots. Chinatsu had some reading she had to get to so after a long night of exploring she decided to call it. Unfortunately, this is where she discovered the logout button was missing. Enti put in a bug report and they waited a bit until they were suddenly teleported. The news was brought, everyone was transformed into their real bodies, and people scattered. Enti and Chinatsu stuck together for the first few weeks until the stigma around Beta Testers formed. Enti was killed by a sleep PK and Chinatsu was left alone. After this, she became terrified of going out and it took over a year for her to finally start fighting monsters again. Chinatsu, now months later, is beginning to conquer her timidness.

Virtues

  1. Every action is deliberate, no muscle moves an inch without careful consideration. Even her gate screams “efficient” with tight, controlled movements. Precision is incredibly important to her, often overthinking her moves well before she does them.

  2. Chinatsu may be self-absorbed but she is in no means selfish. She understands the importance of collaboration and is willing to put herself on the line for her team. She respects commitment and opts to work with others if they have something to provide.

  3. Chinatsu is rarely dishonest. Refusing to sugarcoat things also gives more weight to her praises. She is a bad liar given she doesn’t exercise that mental muscle.

Flaws

  1. Chinatsu is harsh in her speech, always opting for a direct and honest approach over a considerate one. She comes across as inconsiderate despite what her intentions may be. It doesn’t help that she has a big case of RBF.

  2. She is extremely competitive taking any opportunity to pit herself against her peers. Especially with those stronger than herself. She takes a similar approach to fencing where you learn more from losing than winning. Unfortunately, that's a dangerous mentality where a loss could mean death.

  3. Chinatsu is full of sass. Her sarcasm is one of her few variations in the way she talks. It’s also tricky to tell when she is being sarcastic as her monotone voice blurs together with her direct speech.
