[BR-F27] Paving the Way to Floor 28 [Team Freyd]

Momentarily smooshed between the wall and the massive beast's tail, Freyd expected a lot more pain than he actually felt.  It was a mild relief, but also an opportunity.  The great, big, gangly noodle thing reminded him a lot of that corrupted dragon that had gnawed its way through the underside of the Lake of Reflections.  What was its name again?  Scala-something?  He couldn't recall, and it really didn't matter.  The point was that he'd raced and leapt his way up to the critter's head and gave it a few good smashes for its trouble.  Aggro was proving problematic, and tanking fluctuating between pointless and boring.  Why not go with old reliable and just smack the thing with one of its very own mustache-whiskers?

“Freyd, can ya slap it a little harder?  The thing doesn't even like looking you in the eyes before giving you tail."

Smirking at the Hunter's taunt, Freyd redoubled his speed as he ran up snake, choosing to think of it a ladder instead.  Reaching its apex, he tumbled the length of its snout grabbing onto one its overgrown nose hairs and yanked with his full sword-art-infused body weight.  The whisker pulled taught, snapping him back around so hard that he nearly lost his grip, hanging on just long enough to be spun back around at the perfect angle.

*SLAP*

"WISH GRANTED!"  His bellow echoed in the void of the chasm, even as Freyd's ridiculous form tumbling back down Wushen's inky hide like it was some sort of parcour course.  He could end up in its gullet or taking a swan dive into oblivion, for all he cared.  Freyd was just happy that he'd actually managed to bitch slap a raid boss. 

If nothing else, maybe he'd also bought the rest of his team just a little more time.

Flies to honey.

They swarmed the beast on wings of hope, seeking freedom. It's demise promised a step closer, and yet, its presence promised death. Existing forever in Paradox was the nature of Wushen, herald of a Promised End. But an End to what?

Their struggle would continue if they persisted here. Perhaps they won, and managed to amble forward to another hopeless situation- no. There was nothing to be gained from such an action. Surely, these gnats recognized this?

Judging by their continued efforts, Wushen could only conclude that was not the case. They wanted freedom, despite the depth and gravity of the cost. They wanted to live in spite of the cold, comfortable embrace of Oblivion.

Oh, how deluded they were.

It's eyes had grown a more brilliant golden color, and now focused slits took form perfectly in their center. They had succeeded in rousing the Warlord of Elements from slumber. Only a matter of time need pass now before he offered them the escape that they did not know they craved.

An exit from this place, without the vain struggle.

The most resilient pest continued to buzz a bit louder than the rest, which Wushen regarded by allowing a dark mist to roil out from its open maw, spreading out through the air. It unfurled, creeping, crawling, skittering up and binding itself around Freyd's legs. It sought to ensnare him, to peel him to the floor.

He would be made to recognize the superior being yet.

Violet was pretty sure that the boss was actively giving her a good ol staredown, a bead of sweat dripping down her cheek. Even though the raid formation was pretty tightly knit, and well rounded, she couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated. This was a bossfight after all, even a single misstep could lead to someone getting killed. Out of everyone, if she got hit, she'd be feeling it acutely until her armor kicked in with its special regeneration. Until then, she'd be hurting.

"Bite me you overgrown scaly cuck!" she snapped, before charging forward with a flash of blue and purple. If it was going to try and stare her and Kataoka down, then she was going to do her best to piss it off even more so it couldn't ignore her. "I'm right here, come get me!" lament bit into its virtual flesh, cleaving into it with only a token amount of resistance. With a flashy kick, she launched herself back towards the group, scowling.

"Freyd, Kat!" she called, turning to the players in question. "Switch with each other after you smack this bastard! The aggro scale is already fucked as it is, so one of us is getting hit anyways, and I'd rather it be me than a rookie!"

"Good one!"

He said aloud before looking at everyone stats and figuring the blows that were coming from the larger than life boss.  It's attacks were being mitigated or evaded by Freyd, and the man was easily healing over them on his own.  It wasn't that the man had incredible stats going, as the hunter knew him slightly better.  The man liked to hit things more than take the hit.  His stats and buffs would have been for dealing more damage than preventing.  Even so, he was pretty high level now, so Freyd should have a high end Battle Healing, if anything.  That his mitigation should be high enough to tank a bit, if he was our main tank for this raid.

So why was the boss doing barely nothing to them?

There must be some kind of explanation to it, but there didn't seem to be anything coming as of now.  The boss was doing nothing outside of reacting to them.  It was still only staring out the door, but not doing much to leave.  Was it.. not allowed to leave due to being a boss?  Or, are they actually doing something to keep it there.

"This.. isn't right."

Looking back at the stats, Mina was eating her energy reserves to the point that the hunter wasn't going to keep up with her.  With that, he would throw the Hyperactive trait her way.

"If you're going to be active, might as well be hyperactive."

The boss's health bars flickered away as Katoka's effect on them wore off. She clicked her tongue in frustration, "Not so fast danger noodle."

Her sword began to glow once more, this time she held it low as she ran at the monstrous form of her opponent as it undulated and moved through the air. Once again electricity crackled and gathered around her as she advanced, her body turning into a blur as she leapt once again into the air. She swung Raijin's Corruption, a clap of thunder sounding as the blade connected with the digital flesh of the dragon. The cold metal dug into the mesh, leaving flecks of static and dripping venom and blighted ooze in the wound.

Once again the samurai was falling to the ground and landing in a roll to her feet. She just had to keep this up, she just had to keep adding DoTs and Paralyzing it so they could get a view of it's health to keep track. Katoka was helping, she was doing more than just hitting the bad guy over and over. She felt pride fill her every being, this was what it was to be apart of the frontlines, to have a role and a purpose. She heard Mina's call about her hate as she saw Wushen look in her direction.

"Shit."

She turned to look at them all for a brief moment and flashed a fierce grin, "No need to Switch just yet, we'll save that just in case. Let him come." She adjust he grip on her sword and faced the boss with a look of hard focus in her eyes.

The atmosphere around Elora was changing in a way she couldn't keep up with. Albeit, the dragon remained the same. Wushen bore a disdainful continence as it continued to brush off the efforts of the players attacking it. On the other hand, her comrades became increasingly concerned with combat mechanics she was, admittedly, all that familiar with. Without receiving any sort of further instruction, Elora figured it best to continue wailing on the thing. Even if she wasn't tactically savvy, she did know how to wield a weapon. 

Dashing toward their opponent once again, she swung in a fierce diagonal. The serrated blade of her gnarled spear crisscrossed from the space above her shoulder and into the wriggling form of the beast directly before her. Only a moment could be spared to step back and appreciate her work before her eyes caught sight of Wushen's sudden shift. Settling its gaze on Katoka, the boss had determined its next potential target. Turning to face her friend, she could immediately sense the significance of this moment.

"You've got this, Kat!", she shouted encouragement from afar, "Don't let it take you down!"

The changing of the dragon's aggro was a bit worrisome. It was not that he thought Katoka would be unable to handle herself; Freyd was simply better suited for the role of a tank. Morningstar, his grip firm and strong, slashed upwards. A black aura enveloped the blade as his sword art activated and further damaged Wushen.

The Elemental Warlord was different than before. The look in its eyes had changed; it seemed more cautious, more deadly. More than a dozen ants nipped at it—perhaps it had grown annoyed with them.

As the fighting went on, he was constantly glancing back and forth between his opponent and his party's stats. Their health all remained full but for Freyd, who had lost a mere sliver. So far, things had gone smoothly.

His arms still ached and his mind teetered on the edge; however, he showed no weakness before their opponent. Even on the brink of death, he would feel no pleasure in giving in to Wushen.

Wushen was just draining their energy and hate like it was getting ready to use it back against them.  Having returned to ground, the Whisper was getting bored and frustrated in equal measure.  This all seemed pointless.  All they could do was wait and react, wailing away against a giant bag of hit points barely inclined to recognize their presence.  Part of him wondered whether it was all some sort of illusion and scanned every minute detail, but to no avail.  Instead, he played the part for which he'd volunteered and provided guidance and reassurance to his team.

"@tricolor_mina, stick to TECH-B and keep it delayed.  It will make your energy last longer.  I don’t suppose you have access to meditation?  If so, now would be the time.”  Her rage burned bright, but also consumed her in the process.  Judging by the progress of the boss' health bars, at this rate, most would run out long before the bars emptied.

From one head of green to another, Freyd watched his beloved still struggling to believe how far she'd come.  Where was the girl who used to fear everything?  Probably still sitting beside the him that once did the same, if he was honest with himself.

"@Elora, don’t wear yourself out.  Take a meditation break, or chug a vitality buff if you have one.  We can’t run out of energy.  Hopefully your recovery gear will kick in and keep you going.  If neither is an option, stick with ST-I for now.”

A flash on his left as he tumbled across the battlefield confirmed another newcomer at work.  For a bunch of raid virgins, they were faring remarkably well.  He knew full well that they had to and that the real tests still lay ahead, but their performance to date was superb.

“Nice hit, @Morningstar!  Keep using TECH-A, just like that.  You’re helping out the entire raid every time you do so.”

Freyd's own attack nearly went wide, redirected for contact by the grace of Hope's Covenant.  Silent thanks whispered to the back of his hands, Freyd's focus struggled to keep up with his own eclectic motions.  The boss would likely target another this round, and there was nothing he could do about it.  Warning was given.  Now he had to focus on regaining his status as annoyer-in-chief.  It was a worthy and welcomed task.

Light drawn into darkness cast no shadows in the presence of the Elemental Warlord. Instead, everything traveled back to him, like a river subjugated to flow in reverse. Something had cracked, somewhere in space and time, and the fault lines were shifting rapidly. The room had not shifted, and yet, all of them suddenly had.

Where Wushen once floated in the air above them, their best efforts resulting in lunging attacks and charges that buffeted against his scales like water on rock, now their sense of direction was wrong.

Wushen was not above them, but below. Or was he within? All around? Perception stalled as soft words permeated the room, filling the ears of the Players with nonsensical sentiment.

“You lot don’t contribute either.”

The voice did not belong to anyone present; nor did it seem to come from the Draconic beast. It seemed to rise up and return to nowhere, awash in a sea of nothingness.

“And those nobles sure as hell aren’t getting any of our food. It’ll go to the tradesmen, the farmers, and the soldiers - those who have actually earned it.”

And so blew the black wind. The soft, eerie whispers that wafted through the boss room erupted into ear-shattering screams. Some unseen entity's rage fanned the flames, and the seal that maintained Wushen's ennui shattered.

The dream that sustained the ancient atrocity ended.

He was awake at last.

Where was that aid?

Nowhere.

Where were you after Srona’s fire?

Nowhere.

Hell, maybe you set it all up!

Yesss….

It’s every man for himself now.

Wushen's eyes fixated on them at last, the fools brave- or perhaps stupid- enough to face him directly, in this place where it all began, and where it would finally end.

All of them, beneath contempt- and at last, divided, they would fall.

The screaming twisted into booming thunder as brilliant flashes of silvery light rained down around them, a tempest of blades released from the Titan. Flesh was shorn. Blood splattered. Gaping wounds opened, and the gnashing of teeth resounded as the hunger of a god was visited upon them.

Wushen had only just begun his meal.

With a nod, he reactivated the sword art. As he attacked, he felt something strange wash over him. He lacked the words to explain what Wushen had done to them. His body burned and yet, he fought through the pain. He gritted his teeth, each step more difficult than the last. He felt his sword connect, hissing as it touched flesh and blood.

His gaze rose to the dragon's health bars. Judging by what green remained, they must have been reduced to about sixty percent or so. It was a slow slog that looked grimmer and grimmer the more they trekked forward. His battle healing mitigated the blow slightly but still, he had taken more damage than he would have liked. He could only handle so much more.

And he was not the only one. The flames effected the whole team and Mina in particular had been the focus of Wushen's attack this time around. Morningstar was worried.

Mildly disoriented by whatever sudden shift had just occurred, Freyd's focus was instantly on the voices heard and spoken.  "Those sound like references to Ronbaru and the surrounding territories.  Does anyone know much about them?  I never really got around to spending time on floor 27."  Even a whisper could only be so many places at once.  Like beneath a titanic dragon's foot, for example.

"Yeah, yeah.  We get it.  Discord and disharmony ruin all.  Yada, yada, yada."  Freyd taunted the surrounding entity deliberately, intent to focus its attention back on him and keep it there as long as possible.  Unfortunately, a swat or two might be all he'd manage before the boss became distracted once more.  "Got attention issues, pal?  Maybe a little performance anxiety?  We get it.  You've been locked in here for a while.  Don't feel bad, it happens to-"

Fire.  Lots of fire and pain.  Screams, mostly of surprise.  No one went 'pop' so that was a good thing.  

Well, you wanted to get his attention.  Congratulations.  Wish granted.

"It's about time," Freyd muttered under his breath, relieved that they might have finally unlocked whatever elemental cycle or phase had been looming overhead since they entered the room.  "Watch for phases by element, and that same cycle NIGHT found and showed us at the briefing.  If that golem kept this thing in here, that may also be the key to putting it down.  Watch your energy, but take your opportunities to strike when they come up."

He knew where their energy reserves were.  The boss still had too much health.  This was not going well, but how could it possibly have? Freyd grit his teeth and pressed on.  What choice did they really have?  Retreat?  Rumours would run rampant and interest would wane.  They'd never field this strong a force again if they failed.

"I have no clue what the hell is going on, but I don't like what I'm hearing."

The hunter called out as he was set to begin another dose of energy to Mina before she can really work that out herself.  The others, mainly Morningstar and Elora, were in need of the light too.  There wasn't much else he could really do about it as Mina was constantly burning through her energy, and now she was getting hit!  Looking into what he could do, it was only a second thought before a hailstorm of fire would wash over them.  It was a light amount of damage to Hirru and Freyd, but the rest had much smaller hp pools.  Even more so the smoldering flames that still licked the four DPS.  The damage was evident, and it was starting to look like an actual boss fight.

"It's probably rotational!  The other teams also got hit, but with different things!  Metal shards and some static shock, but I don't remember lightning being an element shown."

In mid thought, the hunter pulled out a mass crystal, but not before Freyd could do it himself.  Hirru sighed, but there was something about it.  As soon as the crystal was crushed, they healed, but the boss seemed more aware of Freyd.  Was there something about the healing energy of the crystal that would attract it's attention?  It couldn't be.  With that, the hunter decided to use a instant healing crystal instead and played it close to Mina's form while he gave her another set of energy.

"Mina!  You said you had First Aid right?  Got Purify?  If you do, then use it on Elora first.  Yourself second.  I don't wanna know what that other thing does, but it needs to be removed fast."

"Wait, what?" Kat was confused as Mina was the brunt of Wushen's attack, "Damn, I was ready and--"

A shockwave of fire splashed into the lot of them. Katoka attempted block the attack with her sword but she was still hit with the brunt of it, her clothes smoking and a DoT appearing next to her health bar. "Shit, wasn't ready for that." She glanced around at the other groups as they were also hit with different elemental based attacks. "What was the monologue from? Freyd said something about Ronbaru?" she clicked her tongue in frustration. She hadn't taken part in those quests so she knew nothing about them.

"Sounds like trouble at home, do we know who he's talking about? Maybe we can shoot a message to someone on the outside to go investigate?" it was a long shot, but it was the only thing she could come up with. For now, she would stick to slapping him around.

Her attack connected with no issue, this time her focus being the dragon's underbelly. Once again she hit and ran, her hopes lying in the hands of someone with a bit more battle knowledge than her to find the chink in the boss's armor. Hopefully it would be before they all were toasted extra crispy.

Elora's eyes darted between the faces of her fellow Frontliners as she attempted to discern the source of the whispers. The voices became more pervasive until, eventually, they seemed to permeate the very air that seeped between them. An acute ear would be able to distinguish the discord of an ensuing argument. But by who? Before she could mull it over further, the rumbling murmurs shifted into a cacophony of screams. Elora's heart nearly leapt out of her chest at the sound. She found no comfort amongst her peers, who were equally startled and confused by the undulating atmosphere. Is this the sort of thing Freyd was talking about -- when the frontlines could hear the screams of the other players as they tried to escape the Storm of Shadows? What if it's happening again? Could players be dying? Has a war broken out on the rest of the floor?, the waves of panic caused Elora's focus to waiver.

There was no chance for respite as a shower of gleaming blades plunged from the sky above, slicing through the bodies of her and her teammates. Elora couldn't conceal a cry of fear in response to the searing sensation of razor cuts and an afflicted burn. For as strong as the rookie player appeared to be, she possessed little exposure to many of the game's harshest attacks. Eyes began to sting with shame, and as the stage around them settled, she prayed that none of her teammates had witnessed her moment of weakness. I need to hit it and hit it hard, she rapidly resolved through trembling limbs, The longer it lives, the more we'll get hurt. You need to contribute more to this battle.

With staggered breaths, she tried to settle herself. Blessedly, Freyd soon activated a healing crystals that managed to sooth the majority of her pains. Flashing him a brief, but half-hearted smirk of relief, she hurled herself back into the fray. Move quickly. Attack. Retreat. , she internally repeated like some sort of manic mantra. Adrenaline-fueled heels found their way to the belly of the beast, where, upon readying her stance, she gauged the serrated blade of her spear deep into the thing's outer shell. A concentrated heft was enough to tear twice the length of her staff across its abdomen.

Finally free from Wushen's leathery flesh, her weapon drew back to be positioned by her side. The drumming in her ears eventually subsided to reveal a premature exhaustion. With the shake of her head, she lifted a hand to steady her spinning senses. You can't be tired already. Straightening her back, she did her best to appear like she could handle whatever came next.

Violet realized in hindsight, that teasing and taunting the boss was probably one of the worst decisions that she and the others could have made. There were loud, angry words echoing into the room, and at the last words spoken, Wushen had let out a vicious roar, blasting the entirety of their group with a burst of flames. If it hadn't been for Hirru and Freyd, she'd be almost down to half-health, and scorched by the painful blow she'd been dealt on top of what had Maimed her entire team. "Shit..! Looks like we're finally getting some action from the big guy!"

Hirru called to her, pointing at Elora and asking her to utilize the purify skill on Elora, prompting to rush forward. "Heard you loud and clear, Hirru-San!" she shouted, her hands glowing with a beautiful white light. "Don't let up, Everyone! We can't lose our momentum, or we're gonna have to fall back!" She clapped one of her hands on Elora's back, a feral smile on her face.

"Keep it together, rookie!" she said, falling back to where Hirru was. "Make sure you watch your statuses, I don't like the look of that Conflagrate effect!" There was a sharp burning sensation, and she let out a cry of pain as part of her health was burned away

A surge of outrage rang the chamber, as the vocal decree of annihilation bled from the commander of the elements. The wave washed over all present as the ground quivered. These tiny specks that speckled the stone beneath its once held prison, sharpening knives on its tough hide and gaining little purchase.

Wushen's eyes flare in disgust, the sky began to darken. The air began to swell, feeling the potent presence of the beast. The cacophony of words continued to bounce off the walls, as even still the shackles to its prison continued to shatter. There were a few noteworthy phrases that stuck out among the overwhelming chattering and discourse:

"I just don’t think they contribute as much"

     “You don’t feel it necessary to defend me"

          "I don't want chaos"

               "I gotta stand for them before anyone else."

                    "This is a trust issue."

Through division they fall, and through their inaction all life would end. The massive maw of Wushen opens and reveals the glowing sun within, as the spheres above its massive stature begin to seek its gullet. Blooming from its side are seeming translucent apparitions sporting Wushen's mantle. A glistening cascade of crystal-clear water begins to trickle from the tightly-knit spaces between Wushen's scales. An enigmatic force takes hold of the water, bending it into unnatural paths and giving birth to a turbulent whirlpool. Within this swirling mass, sparks of yellow energy ignite, playfully dancing and leaping from the core of the vortex. Like a mesmerizing apparition, an illusory image of a dragon emerges, its entire form crafted from flowing, ethereal blue energy. This spectral dragon mimics Wushen's physical shape, adding yet another head to the fearsome creature. As this translucent, secondary head of the mighty Lord makes itself known, the water that spawned it spills onto the cavern floor, creating a long channel between each grouping of players. 

Glowing yellow eyes pulsate with electric energy, filling the air with an electrifying charge that causes the hairs on the back of the players' necks to stand on end. With a deafening roar that reverberates like rolling thunder, the air around the players becomes incredibly cold within an instant. The streams of water stretching out from Wushen begin to lighten, and freeze, before building upwards and creating thick walls of ice the split off the groups from each other.  Slowly, the head retracts, with what could only be assumes to be a smile on its face.. as it prepares the players for a fight unlike they have ever faced.

<<Cordoned Room>> Activated!

Concealed behind an opaque wall of ice that hid Wushen behind its splendor, players would notice to their sides that the other teams were gone behind these barriers. Stuck in isolation, no one to save them but their teams. 

Punching through that barricade, revealed the beast that would deal with their insurrection. Thick roots burst from under Wushen's scales, clinging to the side of the elemental dragon. As if watching a tall tree grow within seconds, an ethereal form extends forth, reaching its apex before twisting and curling into its more, typical serpent-like shape. This sinister arboreal creature embodies an eerie and twisted fusion of wood and malevolence. Its monstrous form exudes an unsettling presence, with gnarled, jagged branches forming its scales, giving it a fearsome and foreboding appearance. Its contorted silhouette seems to whisper tales of ancient malevolence, foretelling ominous deeds to come. 

The very presence of Overgrowth disrupts the harmony of the natural world, as it twists and corrupts the once life-giving force of wood into a sinister and destructive power, instilling fear and trepidation in all who dare to face its malefic gaze.

Petty:

• In addition, a player using a Mass Healing Crystal without any hatred generation skills/enhancements gain +2 Hatred.

Beyond Care:

• Each round at the start of the bosses turn before its post action, the highest hate from each group decays by -1. In the event of a draw then this ability targets the player that has any hatred generation skills/enhancements. If none is present it will be the last player to generate hatred outside of attacking.
• In addition, every successful attack made against the player with the highest hate by Wushen directly reduces their hatred by -2

Larger than Life:

• DoT’s last half as long.
• Wushen is immune to disables. However, when a Disable is applied, DoT effects applied in the same round will last their full duration. This also breaks Wushen's concealment on his HP Bars
• Enhancement effects that match the element of a head are ineffective. Please see the head in question to see what enhancements it matches. 

Gridlock: When reaching 50% of its total HP, further damage is ignored until it transitions to phase 2. Transitioning to phase 2 consumes its post action.

Multi-Faceted:
During Phase 2, A number of different heads will cycle to each available party. One of the following heads will become targetable by a team: Brimstone, Caustic, Novalite, Serration, Overgrowth. If this head is felled, but any other remain standing it will become Flailing. These heads utilize Wushen's hatred values. The total HP of Wushen are shared with Heads, destroying one of the heads deals its full maximum to Wushen when felled.

Cauterize:
After a head enters the Flailing state where it cannot be targeted except by healing effects, it remains at 0 HP. Using the First Aid skill or a healing item directly targeting (No Mass Heals/Field Medic target a specific creature) it will close off the wound and stop it from attacking temporarily. Using these effects on a Flailing head does not restore the bosses HP.

Cordoned Room:
During Phase 2, The entire chamber will be closed off in sections using ice isolating the parties from interacting with heads not within their reach. This barrier can be conversed through but cannot be passed. Once a party's head (Brimstone, Caustic, Novalite, Serration, Overgrowth) has been felled, players can as a post action begin to work to lower the barrier. Burning holes through the ice walls in some way by obtaining a combined LD total of 15 will melt them. Only LD bonuses from the following apply:

• Nimble Addon
• Searching Skill
• Scouting Familiar Skill

This action must be done to continue to attack the body by each party once the head has been destroyed.

Total Destruction:

• When all spawned heads are felled, the boss will attempt to regenerate them as a post action.
• In addition, Cordoned Room will be re-activated

Violet dusted off her clothes, letting out a faint growl as the burn effect triggered once more, scorching away another chunk of her health, putting her dangerously close to being at Half-Health. The boss had erected several massive walls of ice, sealing them off from the other teams, and leaving them Isolated with a giant head that was bearing down on them. Deep green and black scales, and a menacing sneer on its face.

A sneer crossed her own, before she slid her mask over her face, her eye glowing a bright reddish-pink underneath it. "Phase Two time, Everyone!" she shouted, "This one looks like it's got a different gimmick to what the main boss has, Be careful and lets try and kill this thing FAST!" She lept forward, roaring as she stabbed into the giant head, doing her best to try and eat away at enough health so that her team could finish of the head.

Every little thing counted, so they needed to pour everything they had into killing these things.

She pulled back towards the group, patting kataoka on the shoulder as she passed the other woman. "You're up, rookie!" she called, "Go kick its scaly ass, ok?" she drew closer to the back, standing next to Hirru, and keeping an eye out for the rest of the players healths. Even though she was badly injured, she was still able to keep kicking. She'd keep fighting til the boss made it so she had to run away.

The sight of Wushen sprouting three new heads took Katoka by surprise at first, but that was quickly replaced by the panic of being separated from the other groups by walls of ice. She looked around quickly and saw that she was still with her party and let the moment of weakness pass. She adjusted the grip on her sword and turned her focus to the new head that spawned.

By the looks of it the main body was invulnerable for the time being, so she charged forward to hit this green head with her strongest sword art to see how well it took a hit. The samurai leapt up as Mina had finished her strike, hitting her new target along it's neck and dragging her blade up until she hit it's bottom jaw. It wasn't her best hit, but the damage she inflicted was nothing to turn away from. She nodded to Morningstar as she passed, giving him room to hit the creature next.

"Well, let's hope that there aren't too many more surprises left with this guy, I don't want to see what else he can pull out of his hat." the thought of the snake like dragon head wearing a hat crossed Kat's mind for a moment, causing her to hold in a giggle that almost spilled out. She didn't need her party members to think she had cracked in the middle of battle. She looked to Freyd, ready for his next set of instructions should he need to shout them.

Overgrowth.

It appeared suddenly alongside the others and would be the focus of Team Freyd's attacks, for the time being. First came Mina, her strike setting off the assault. Then, Katoka followed up with an attack of her own. Morningstar was technically the third to join in, although he was only a second behind Kat.

He lunged towards the dragon, channeling a sword art. The black glow once again enveloped the Soulcursed Blade, humming ominously as it awaited the taste of its victim's blood.

He felt the edge of it collide with Wushen—Overgrowth, rather. A bit more was all it would take to defeat their adversary, one of many.

From behind him, he could see Elora preparing her attack as well. He was curious: would she be the one to take the green head down? Could she muster up enough damage to finish the job?

His feet touched the ground once more and he returned to his team's side.

She found a fleeting solace in Mina's gesture of encouragement. Unexpectedly, the pink-hair player had offered additional consolation through the means of a purification spell. With a nod of appreciation, Elora allowed herself to savor the brief moment of restitution. It wouldn't last long, however, as the conflicted atmosphere began to change once again. "Could this thing just not scare us for half a second?", she groaned as her stomach churned with a compounded anxiety. "I miss when it was just sitting there -- letting us hit it -- not having multiple --", she gestured with a spinning wrist, "Whatever these things are!"

Clearly, they had at least managed to do some damage to it. If Wushen was like any other videogame boss, then they probably just had two more rounds to go! Two more rounds..., she grimaced at the realization, I don't know if I've got the stamina to keep up with this... "Well, whatever --", she tried to shoo away the worried notion, Just gotta keep wailing away at it 'til I'm out.

A deep inhaled proceeded her next attack. Just like before, she charged forward, slicing and dicing through the scales -- whisps? -- of the wooded mirage. She assumed that was what she was supposed to be hitting. After all, the others seemed to be focused on damaging it. Her attacks, unfortunately, fell just short of sending the specter head back to the shadow realm. Despite the sting of regret, Elora held her head high and prepared for her next move.
