[BR-F27] Paving the Way to Floor 28 [Team NIGHT]

Recommended Posts

Wushen.png.e062d5bf203067e6506d60a456bff7f2.png

The eyes of the mighty Wushen darkened as lids scaly lids cascaded over them. The voices of the divided chaos, that fueled his power generation after generation, had ceased. Its neck twisted and writhed with excruciating pain as its scales tightened and compressed, causing the dragon’s size to decrease every so slightly. The focus points on its body, each one that represented a different element of the land, seemed to pulse at a slower rate. Even the elemental visages of Wushen himself that sprouted from either side flickered, the images almost seemed to try and hold themselves together and not give into becoming nothing but a dissolving mist.

This could not be happening. Not now, when he was so close to achieving his goal.

And it was the fault of this gathering of warriors that plagued this floor. HIS floor of the towering castle of Aincrad.

He would not stand for it, and he would not go down without a fight.

Releasing all of his pent of frustrations and rage, Wushen’s screeching roar caused the entire cavern to shake and rumble. Various crystal structures cracking and falling to the ground, the players just barely managing to avoid being hit by the splintering rain of colored crystals.

Using what power it had left, another wave of ice walls rose in place, though these much thinner.. their structure already showing signs of melting. And as three heads of the creature had fallen, another three rose in their place.

This sinister arboreal creature embodies an eerie and twisted fusion of woodOvergrowth.png and malevolence. Its monstrous form exudes an unsettling presence, with gnarled, jagged branches forming its scales, giving it a fearsome and foreboding appearance. Its contorted silhouette seems to whisper tales of ancient malevolence, foretelling ominous deeds to come.

The very presence of Overgrowth disrupts the harmony of the natural world, as it twists and corrupts the once life-giving force of wood into a sinister and destructive power, instilling fear and trepidation in all who dare to face its malefic gaze.

[Cannot be Targeted with Attacks]

Petty:

  • Using [Delay] sword arts (Does not stack) will reduce the next BD 9-10 effect that a head will produce to BD:10 only, making a BD: 9 a normal attack.
  • In addition, a player using a Mass Healing Crystal without any hatred generation skills/enhancements gain +2 Hatred.
  • BD 9-10, Applies Keen 3 and Focus to Wushen, Brimstone, Caustic, Novalite, Serration, Overgrowth

Beyond Care:

  • Each round at the start of the bosses turn before its post action, the highest hate from each group decays by -1. In the event of a draw then this ability targets the player that has any hatred generation skills/enhancements. If none is present it will be the last player to generate hatred outside of attacking.
  • In addition, every successful attack made against the player with the highest hate by Wushen directly reduces their hatred by -2

Larger than Life:

  • DoT’s last half as long.
  • Wushen is immune to disables. However, when a Disable is applied, DoT effects applied in the same round will last their full duration. This also breaks Wushen's concealment on his HP Bars
  • Enhancement effects that match the element of a head are ineffective. Please see the head in question to see what enhancements it matches.

Multi-Faceted:
During Phase 2, A number of different heads will cycle to each available party. One of the following heads will become targetable by a team: Brimstone, Caustic, Novalite, Serration, Overgrowth. If this head is felled, but any other remain standing it will become Flailing. These heads utilize Wushen's hatred values. The total HP of Wushen are shared with Heads, destroying one of the heads deals its full maximum to Wushen when felled.

Cauterize:
After a head enters the Flailing state where it cannot be targeted except by healing effects, it remains at 0 HP. Using the First Aid skill or a healing item directly targeting (No Mass Heals/Field Medic target a specific creature) it will close off the wound and stop it from attacking temporarily. Using these effects on a Flailing head does not restore the bosses HP.

Cordoned Room:
During Phase 2, The entire chamber will be closed off in sections using ice isolating the parties from interacting with heads not within their reach. This barrier can be conversed through but cannot be passed. Once a party's head (
Brimstone, Caustic, Novalite, Serration, Overgrowth) has been felled, players can as a post action begin to work to lower the barrier. Burning holes through the ice walls in some way by obtaining a combined LD total of 10 will melt them. Only LD bonuses from the following apply:

  • Nimble Addon
  • Searching Skill
  • Detect Addon
  • Reveal Addon
  • Scouting Familiar Skill

This action must be done to continue to attack the body by each party once the head has been destroyed.

Total Destruction:

  • When all spawned heads are felled, the boss will attempt to regenerate them as a post action.
  • In addition, Cordoned Room will be re-activated

Guidelines
- Players will have until 11:59 PM EDT on SEPTEMBER 15th to make their posts.

Cold walls froze again, their glass-like surfaces already slick. They were clear, almost perfectly see through like wet glass. Just on the other side, Koga could see the other parties, each dealing with their own head of Wushen. Looking up at the great dragon himself, only one more HP bar floated about his head. Almost there, the final push.

Koga could feel the fatigue wearing on him though. He hardly needed to look at his HP bar to know he only had a couple of good strikes left in him, but he did so anyways, getting an exact number. Two attacks. That's all he had. He'd have to make them count.

No flourish or war cry, just a grunt of exertion as the swordsman rushed the new head, it's wooden scales inviting Koga to try and strike. A swift flash of steel, and a hollow thud as Tsuki no Hikari bit into the wood and sank, almost binding itself in the head's armor. No good there, Koga backed away, weary.

The sound of shattering ice was barely met with any action. A confused glance would pass over the individuals. Was she not being loud enough? Were they frozen in fear? It didn't matter much as the moment of opportunity passed. A chilled wind would assault her as the ice began to reform between them a Wushen. Biting her tongue, the Lily would instead opt for a sigh. It seemed as if she would have to do this herself.

Flipping that dagger in her hand, a white gleam would brighten the area around her. Shadows would dance on the ground around her before the woman suddenly vanishes... just to appear moments later above the dragon's head. A single stroke sends a black slash through the air, striking the head down. A thud would be heard and the ground would shudder as it bounced from the ground. Landing cleanly, violet eyes scanned her teammates to see if they would take advantage of the dazed creature.

here, at the very damn least, did night finally manage to strike. because it wasn't intangible -- how did her party even get the previous two heads, anyway? -- and given her time striking at wood elementals on the twenty-seventh, from the dungeon with hirru to the labyrinth, night was _certain_ she would have home field advantage.

jack's executioner only agreed in tandem with incited bloodshed.

blight seemed ineffective, with the way that often dark sludge that poured out of her sword swayed to a different hue. from red, the liquid spilled but seeped into the gash, tinged in a myriad of colours before fading into a murky grey. night dropped into a tumble as she recovered from wushen's usual combo of 'ice wall, uppercut someone, spawn head' routine, picking herself up quick if only to take note of the damage they'd done to wushen's minion.

its health was in the red. they were nearly there; just not enough yet.

Just one more push

He thought. Things went out of hand this time when it comes to their team's flow of battle. Good thing Koga still had enough to go on. There was no feeling of fatigue or aching bones. None of that exists in the game as a way to keep players safe from torture... maybe.

Crozeph fell face down on the ground, he wanted to gather what little energy he had to unleash one more attack but he also wanted it to go further. Dirt on his face, palms not sweaty, maybe arms are heavy... Yuki's spaghetti.

wait...

It was the thought of her, the meaning of why he does this. He needed to contribute, they needed to get out. The sound of the wind chiming inside the garden of their manor. the faint clinking of Yuki's utensils as she prepares their meal, his was always special. Yuki would always add a little extra for him.

He wanted that again, and that want seems to have a good effect on him.

Crozeph gained 4 EN

Wushen centered its gaze on him as his defiance mounted. Alkor could feel the blood pumping in his veins, the adrenaline flowing like fire. Indignation coalesced with fury, together with determination to keep him on his feet. He faced down the primordial entity like a man who had come toe to toe with his own maker. It was too late to run, even if he wanted to.

But the glare intensified, and the creature balked at his existence. The very fear-turned-strength that brought him to this point twisted inside his gut, wrenching it. Alkor reached down suddenly and grabbed at his stomach, a wave of nausea rising suddenly like the tides.

He fought the urge to fall to a knee, stayed on both feet, but could not spur himself forward. Gritting his teeth, the bulwark of team NIGHT locked eyes with the boss.

And summarily voided the contents of his stomach, flipping the beast the bird, sword still in hand.

Oh my, oh my god Zandra thougth to herself as her axe had cleaved a deep cut in the dragons flesh. This, this was what real combat was about. This was what she really, really liked, using the big black axe, delivering heavy damage and pain to her enemy. As she looked at the beast, she could see panic in his eyes, and with that, Zandras sinister smile grew wider. She felt her heart beating tens times faster then normal, she was feeling such excitement, this was fun. She took a steady grip of her dark axe again, preparing to deliver another wound to Wushen. But halfway to delivering the blow, suddenly another of his heads pulled her attention away from the main boss. And that short moment of hesitation was enough, enough for Zandra to miss her blow, deling not even a single point of damage to it, progressing the fight nothing. A red blush off embarrassment appeared under her crimson eyes. What the heck was this? She failed to even hit her target!

Wushen.png.e062d5bf203067e6506d60a456bff7f2.png

To have come so far, yet feel as if they had gained nothing was the essence of futility. Wushen loomed overhead, immenent, impending in its quest to return All to Nothing. Those who fought against fate did so for naught, and would soon join the baleful chorus of those who had given in. This sudden wave of defiance… mattered little.
The Elemental Warlord balked at their best efforts, now fully intent on bringing its wrath to bear… though, perhaps with less fervor than before. To feel the freedom that came with the disunity of the people and be so close to victory and have it suddenly taken away was gutting, even for a force of nature.

Wushen's roar did not come again. Instead, it was replaced with a heavy sigh. It was the feeling of exhaustion, of depression, of angst that came when everything that was going so well suddenly started not to.

It was a feeling that the beast was all too eager to impart on these creatures, that it wished to share with them, and even afflict. Perhaps if they tasted futility again, it would motivate them to die.

Wushen offered to them the most bitter of fruits.

Despair.

night caught a glimpse of alkor's falter, and ultimately decided on consistency above all else. wushen's heave was nothing more than its dying breath in the long run, with the rate they'd been pummeling down each minor obstacle that had stood in their way. despite how annoying the ice walls were, by the time they got to strike the dragon overlord once more, she was sure they would've whittled away at its health, too.

with a single swipe, she cut down their temporary bane. wasn't certain if it was poison, or disgust that had gotten to her bulwark, but night decided to place a hand on his shoulder. "hang back for a moment if you need it," was what she said, pulling alkor to a distance safer, closer to the ice wall than they were before. then, she placed a hand upon the barrier's cold confines once more, the irritant, and knew their duties had to end soon, before they ran out of stamina to continue on.

Even in the chaos of a boss fight, there was a lull as people took a much needed breath. Or in Alkor's case, a good vomit. Anything to keep from keeling over and letting Wushen pound them into dust. The swordsman watched for a moment, his chest heaving to pull air into his lungs as Zandra went wild, the blood-crazed gleam in her eye a strong enough warning for Koga to not get in her way. The man then took a quick glance at Alkor, tended to by NIGHT. It was the last push. Hang in there a little longer, Alkor. Cro had since paused, he too seeming to try and gather enough strength for the last push.

A flash of white above their heads drew Koga's eyes to the last of their teammates. Hidden, enigmatic and surprising as always. Koga wasn't sure what she'd just done, but the wyrm was sprawled across ground now, and the man knew an opportunity when he saw one.

The katana in hi had began to burn with bright blue flames. Mustering his strength, the black-clad swordsman gripped the hilt, and with one swipe, the walls of ice around them were consumed. "Time to cut loose guys!" End it.

He swayed as the others raced into action around him, holding a hand over his mouth to stifle any further vomiting. To say that his equilibrium had suddenly been thrown off would have been an understatement- Alkor felt like he had been afflicted with a sudden and terrible case of vertigo, seemingly induced by the boss' malefic aura coupled with some kind of stunning attack.

Two could play at that game. Still channeling his rage and determination, the virulent, hazy red aura surged around him as Alkor drew on his violent and wild tendencies to further enhance his next strike. The darkness of the blade rose up again, as though his very soul called out and willed it forth. Oathkeeper was a weapon of both light and dark, a tool meant to bring balance. That Alkor could only find midnight in its presence was telling for him.

"Guess I should really be thanking you," he muttered, less to the Dragon than for his own amusement, "thanks to you, I was able to learn something about myself. As a token of my appreciation, you'll be the first to taste retribution."

Not the last, though.

Alkor raised his blade, drinking in the darkness, and sent the weapon slamming into the boss' hide. Dark flames surged outward, exploding on impact.

Back in business

No time to waste, no time to die, and die another day. Crozeph lunged forward, straight from being face down on the ground and then up to running towards Wushen. "I love the smell of stew in the morning!" he yelled.

A rage fit of survival or annoyance, a little bit of both, maybe more about the annoyance. He wanted to end the battle, getting it dragged on because of his energy losing is really bad for his mental health.

Ereshkigal's sharp edge grated at the scales of the dragon, eager to sink in but it seems now is still not the time.

The big lizard didnt seemed to be dowj for count just yet. Zandra had dealt a powerful blow to one of the heads, but last hit turned into a total failure. A miss. So, what was she gonna do now? Was she gonna try to  deliver another blow against it, because he couldnt have much health left by now. They had all been chopping of at its health bar, and it seems every time they killed one of the heads, he lost even more health. They actually should get him down from this round of attacks. Thou just in case, she could hand out some energy to someone of her party members. But who should she give to. She took a glance at the energy bar list to see which one has the lowest, herself she almost was at full so she was in no need of more energy, if she could just give it all of them. It looked like Koga was the one that was in most need of energy, so a few, quick step to him and a quick touch shining both Koga and herself for a bit, and Koga’s energy got refilled by a little. Maybe it wasnt much, but at least it was something.

As the battle raged on, one couldn't help but notice that the large dragon was growing slowly. His attacks seemed more sluggish and it finally seemed to be noticing the various amounts of weapons that were striking it. The end was nearing. Brandishing her dagger, she would prepare to make a strike but found a large tail crushing down on her. A couple of acrobatically enhanced dodges would steer her clear of the brunt of force but serve her with the impact of the blow and the rubble that ensued from it.

Picking herself up after regaining balance, the violet-eyed woman would find her team breaking through the barrier and taking advantage of the moment of weakness that Wushen was displaying. It seemed that the team wasn't completely hopeless after all.

"I think this should do it." She whispered to herself. The frontlines were a thing of her past after this moment, for now at least. The rush and thrill it used to provide had dulled. It was time for some much-needed rest. Even if rest meant being terrorized by Shiina and her pet hamster.

The flash of purple light would indicate a strike, the slash piercing through Wushen's hide.

Sprays of color ebbed and flowed like streams of river, like cries of a watchful mountain. Like candle light and that of the stars. Despite troubled breath and burning lungs. Desire pressed on.

Hope pressed on.

The same troubling peel of voices extrude the chamber in a reverberating spiel. The vary meeting of a roundtable having conquered its deep seeded corruption. A select few phrases echoed on past the myraid that seemed more focused.

"a house divided cannot stand"

"What mistake have you made, Hugh?"
"Mr. Hugh, I would like to ask a question. What can you say to all of this?"
"At some point, Hugh..."

A battle raged on two fronts, one of words and the other of blades. Wushen stirred, as its maw grew bright with a cyan blue permafrost. Determined to see this through, determined for its barrier. To protect it. Its strength falters and like a dying star, that light fades. What is left is an army of gnats, to which he believed beneath him wielding weapons of war.

They all closed upon him, mustering the last of their remaining strength to see this ended. Cuts and tears, that left their marks upon his scaled hide. As that bar drew closer and closer to its end. Eventually, it could not hold itself and like a mountain it fell. Each and every player would rush away from the beast or be crushed underneath its weight, as a living skyscraper fell from the heavens.

Ground shook, and tore asunder. Pieces of it broke up and upheaved in an uneven cacophony of fissures. When the dust finally clears, a crawled creeping of a illuminant starlike shine.

*Pop*

And just as quickly it began. Wushen was gone.

Epilogue

All around the cavern, the crystals gleamed. Blue, green, white, red, and yellow, a kaleidoscope of color. Only now, the hues seemed softer. Rather than clashing against each other, a violent battle for attention, they blended into a harmonious blanket of color. In the center of space, a scroll lay amid the still settling dust. As the first curious Player approached it, a feminine voice suddenly filled the air.

“If you’re reading this, then Wushen has been freed. I suppose it is too much to hope that you’ve succeeded in ending its life, as we were barely able to contain it. I also fear that I’m unable to ask such a feat from you, as I contributed to Wushen’s creation. We all did. As we gave in to greed, envy, and wrath, we allowed hatred to threaten our once peaceful existence. The negativity began to corrupt the Elementals that roamed the land. Just as humanity teetered on the edge of war, the Elementals joined together to form an enemy unlike any we had ever seen - Wushen, the Elemental Warlord.

Presented with this shared enemy, the leaders of the now-fractured civilization met to discuss our options. In doing so, we found ourselves also airing our personal grievances, and coming to understandings that we hadn’t been able to before. We began to mend broken relationships, and almost immediately, noticed Wushen’s strength weakening. Armed with this knowledge, we hastened our diplomatic efforts until the Warlord was small enough to trap. Using elemental magic uncovered within ancient texts, we created a golem to keep Wushen contained. To protect the people from its devastation.

This world is not perfect. The Elementals remain more hostile than they once were. Wushen, though imprisoned, remains a threat. Our people are still divided - all the compromising in the world could not unite us completely - but we’ve done our best to work together. The words of power, meant to unlock Wushen’s cage, were split among the leaders of our newly formed territories. Though we are separated, each will specialize in one area, allowing our cooperation to continue. We will work together to protect our people, from Wushen, from themselves, and from the possibility of history repeating itself.

I pray that we’ve succeeded, and that in doing so, allowed a future generation to finally bring about Wushen’s end.

Humbly yours,
Kielle, First President of Ordsea"
