Background:

Mirei was born to a middle-class family. His life growing up was pretty normal by conventional standards. He was well-learned in class but there was a big problem: Depression. After years he would learn that he was struggling with gender dysphoria. At the age of 18, on his birthday he would undergo transitional surgery and go by female pronouns from then on. Her family wasn’t the most understanding but her depression slowly faded.

Now, fully transitioned for around five years, Mirei has become a cosplay model with a boyfriend who live streams for a side job. Her boyfriend who had ordered the NerveGear and one of the copies of Sword Art Online had planned to play it for his community. He had to work during its release, however, and had asked Mirei to ensure that everything worked well for his stream later in the day. Unluckily for her, she wouldn’t be logging out.

Virtues

1. Sensitive - Mirei is very capable of understanding people’s feelings. She tends to be heavily empathetic for people who are struggling. Though being sensitive isn’t always a good thing.

2. Semi-Experienced - While not a constant gamer, Mirei tends to spend time playing games with her boyfriend so she’s not completely new to these kinds of games. Full-dive technology is something she’s not used to but she still understands gaming terms and the like. A helpful skill considering how it's affecting her current livelihood.

3. Determination - Mirei, having gone through horrible bouts of depression, spent the first few years of her time in SAO in a slump. However, after being trapped for two years and learning they were only a fourth of the way through the floors, she has new-founded determination. It has to be because of people like her who did nothing to help.

Flaws

1. Sensitive - Despite being empathetic, Mirei has an infectious reaction to bad emotions. Anger or sadness puts her in terrible moods when surrounded by them. This can make it hard for her to stay calm if others are panicking, for example.

2. Insecure - Mirei has a bit of trouble with being comfortable with her appearance sometimes, simply because of her past. She’s been discriminated against because of her status as a transwoman and a model. However, since she’s in SAO where almost no one knows her, it might not be as prevalent 

3. Reserved - Mirei tends to be a quiet person around strangers, but doesn’t forget her manners. She often has trouble opening up to strangers which makes it hard for her to find parties. Nevertheless she can still open up, it just might take time.
