[[F1-SP]] New Beginnings

Clear blue skies lit up the morning in the <<Town Of Beginnings>> as a young lvl 1 knight took a deep breath just before she stepped foot out of the gate unto the <<Plains>> Alyson had felt like she'd been in a coma for the past few months while lord knows what happened outside of the game. By the time she reconnected to the game, her ping was stable and the team had just cleared the 27th floor, with the 28th being unlocked. Alyson let out a sigh. She had alot of catching up to do if she ever planned on making it to the Frontlines as people where calling it to help clear this game. Still, everything began with the first step and she knew she couldn't be in too much of a rush.

Alyson had done a bit of snooping around in the town of beginnings, some people where stuck there too paralyzed to do anything and wanting someone else to come and say them, a few others where finally deciding to take their first steps much as Alyson was. The first floors were pretty well mapped out at this point and she knew there was an "optional" tutorial quest for those who wanted it. The rewards seemed fine at least, but they didn't necessarily spark her interest all that much. Plus after all this time, Alyson honestly just wanted to fight something and vent out all her stiffness from the months she'd spent disconnected. So Alyson Stepped out, The title of the <<Plains>> officially crossing her HUD as she was no longer in the safe area. She had taken the first step and had done something a lot of the other people would never do. And it's moment was one she was sure she was going to remember for at least a little bit.

After letting herself enjoy the moment for a brief time she finally began her hunt. Boars were this game's Slime's so to speak and so she figured she'd start with hunting some of those and get a feel for how the game would go. It honestly didn't take her very long until she found a pair of boars just chewing on the grass, they looks up at her, their weirdly menacing red cursor floating above their head as they seemed to gauge her and see if she was going to attack. Alyson took a deep breath. This was real. This would be her reality for awhile and the fight she was about to have could end up killing her. Granted that was unlikely. She had been granted a pretty good starting set of armor and she doubted these things could even chip away at her HP at all, let alone contend with the regen on it. Still. The thought that this fight could turn sinister crossed her mind. However she steeled herself. She was ready.

Taking a deep breath and focusing all of her attention on the boars in front of her, Alyson took an aggressive stance poising her sword to strike. Much to her surprise the blade began to glow a bight yellow almost white color and made what sounded like a rail gun powering up. She could feel the energy building inside of her blade. She refocused her energy on the strike she was attempting to unleash on the boar.

Alyson could feel the energy in her blade build up to a point and she lunged forwards releasing the energy. Dashing as she did so she cut through the first boar leaving a major gash along it's side. It wasn't enough to kill it but she had certainly damaged it quite well. As she flipped around she noticed the "Critical Hit!" tag briefly pop up above the monster, which made her smile. It was her first attack in the game she had landed a critical. Honestly she wasn't sure if that was a guaranteed thing, it would be a nice way to boost player confidence but she doubted something as hardcore and intense with the goal of realism as SAO would do something like that. She'd simply gotten lucky, and maybe this meant fortune smiled on her account. Still, she didn't have time to bask in the joy much. She'd honestly only taken a quarter of the boar's health and she knew she was in a long drown out fight. 

The first boar whipped around trying to hit her with it's tusk as she dashed passed it. All it got was the air as she moved past, so Alyson turned her attention to the second boar that was currently charging her. It wasn't particularly fast or anything and with an easy side step she managed to avoid the attack. She took a deep breath and smiled. She could do this. She could win this fight.

Alyson took a breath while she had definitely damaged the boar, and left a sizeable mark on the boar judging by the red gash going through the side of it with particles flowing out, she still had a long way to go in this fight. Alyson steeled herself once again and charged at the boar she had already damaged, hoping to focus the first one down before she did put any effort into the second one. She let the energy in her blade build once more until it shown the bright yellowish white color it had again, and then released it.

Alyson stepped forwards bringing her sword down on the boar cutting another piece out of it and bringing it's health down further. However this unlike her last move didn't take her out of the way of the boar's charge. Nor did it stop it and the Boar slammed into her stomach knocking her back a little bit. She noticed a little "Critical hit!" in the left hand corner of her hud telling her that she'd likely taken one, but still her health only went down by one point. The second Boar then let out... a roar? Whatever it was that boars make before charging her. She'd thankfully been given time to recover and was once again able to side step it before focusing on her. Thankfully these Boars had a pretty basic attack pattern and so far weren't using any sort of coordination. If that changed maybe she could be in a bit of trouble but for now it was seemingly manageable.

Spinning back around Alyson noticed her health bar tick back up ever so slight and a smile appeared on her face. This should be relatively easy as long as she kept on getting good hits on the Boars and they didn't consistently pile on double hits she shouldn't really have any issues taking care of them. With that in mind Alyson ran towards the first boar one more time looking to get more damage on it. She knew this fight was going to be drawn out but for the moment she still had plenty of energy to spare and so she didn't mind fully sprinting at the boar. Later she might wait for them to come to her as she's built up Aggro and doesn't quite feel like running towards the mob, but for the moment she was having the time of her life in her fantasy scape running through the fields and fighting boars and she was going to let herself enjoy this moment because she was certain that later on things would get much harder and much scarier. Once again she charged up her weapon and released it.

In her bliss Alyson released the blade a little too early and she could best describe it as her sword.. fizzling. No energy was released at all and it not only took the wind out of her sails but also distracted her enough that the boar was easily able to slam right into her once again. Thankfully it didn't hit a critical hit on her not that it mattered anyways as she watched the health she had just regenerated drop back down a single point. Still the boar on the side let out it's signature grunt before charging her after she'd already been hit, giving her enough time to sidestep. Not the most ideal outcome of the scenario but still she could have had worse results.

Letting out a deep breath Alyson did the math in her had. Each boar had 12 health. She had dealt 4 damage so far, that means that collectively there was still 20 health remaining between the two of them, the same as Aly's as she watched her health tick up, but that wasn't the point. Not accounting for Criticals as she had no idea how rare they were in the current field of things. She did 1 damage on a swing. That meant she still had 20 more hits she still had to land before this fight would be over. She was beginning to realize just how much work this was going to be and just how much she probably should have bought a sword for this encounter. Not that she could really change that now anyways, and even running was theoretically an option she wasn't about to back done from the game's weakest mobs. Especially if she wanted to fulfill her role as a tank. Maybe, Maybe someone would come help her with the mobs and do the damage that she needed, but she didn't need them too. She was going to see this through and take down these boars.

While she was lost in her thoughts and trying to motivate herself to carry on the rest of the fight however, the boars were continuing on with the battle, Aly just barely managed to get a slash off on the first boar as it rammed into her again another "Critical hit!" popping up on the side of her HUD, "Jesus is this some kind of Vorpal Boar or something like that, what the-" was all she managed to get out as "Critical hit!" popped up on her HUD again. It was so nice of them, it was really non intrusive and just off the side, noticeable enough that you definitely saw you just got critical hit AGAIN but it was small enough that while noticeable it didn't block your vision and didn't stay for very long so you had time to process your UNYIELDING RAGE AT GETTING CRIT. AGAIN.

Alyson spun around on her heels after taking the hit from the second boar, letting out a heavy pant as though she was actually in danger and not just sitting at 18 HP out of her 20 Total and wouldn't regen up to 19 in a second. "Alright you fuckers. I don't care if i have to spend the rest of my life in SAO. I don't care if it takes me 10 years to kill you assholes. But I'm doing it. I'm killing both of you if it's the last god damn thing I do." Aly said as she narrowed her face, and got a more serious look in her eyes. She was going to destroy these insignificant pigs. She was going to hunt them until the ends of the earth. There would be no more pigs left in SAO by the time she was done with them.

Letting out a cry of sheer gamer rage at her presumed and accurate unlucky string of events, Aly charged forwards brandishing her sword and doing her best to try and take down the mob before her. Every fiber of her being focused solely on killing this god forsaken creature before her and a fury to match that of the nine hells carrying the weight of her sword. The Golden White light of her blade gleaming as she charged at the Lvl 1 beginner mob.

Her sword slashed into the mobs health once again, dropping it's health bar only ever so slightly down at the very least it was now a nice yellow color as Aly had brought it down to half. She only had to go through the whole process of what she had just done all over again to kill of these things. Still she was at least a little bit more on alert now as the next boar charged at her, it had seemingly gotten the message to stop squealing before each of its attacks but thankfully for this one, that didn't matter. Aly was on alert and fueled by anger as she side stepped the mob.

Collecting herself for but a brief moment, Aly took the time to realize her HP had reached 19... and then it ticked up 20. She was back at full HP and all physical ramifications of the double crit had disappeared. Apparently however, the hate system applied to players as well because that was all Aly was feeling as she charged in once more readying her blade and attacking the first boar again. She'd gotten it down to halfway already, it would hopefully only take a few more swings until she was able to focus her sole attention on the other boar.

Much to her surprise however, the Boar seemed ready for her attack and managed to dodge out of the way. Were these creatures actually Intelligent enough to wait out her attack and dodge it. The AI for this game seemed pretty advised if that was the case, and these were starter mobs at that. She could only imagine what kind of mobs would lie ahead of head on the higher floors. The first boar then charged with a counter attack. She was ready though and dodged, the attack side stepping the first boar a smile almost appeared on her face until she felt the feeling of getting rammed in the back once again. She almost, almost was starting to respect these boars, until she saw it again. That sweat little "ding" in the left hand corner of her vision with the clearly displayed "Critical hit!" popping up once more. It didn't actually matter. It wasn't even doing any more damage than a normal attack. She knew that already, and even still it's sweat little ding pissed her off to no end. After she got done with these boars, she was going for Akihiko Kayaba next, or whatever asshole was in charge of sound design. She was going to strap them down and force them to listen to that little "ding" over and over and over again, each time she'd give them a paper cut just to be nuisance. She wanted them to feel what they were doing to her in every fiber of their being. This was beyond these damn Vorpal class boars and it was about the developers directly sending a message to Alyson "Fuck you in particular." And she wanted to shove it right back in their face.

Aly took a deep breath as she steeled herself after having taking she knew this was going to be a wet noddle fight. She'd invested nothing in her offensive stats and preferred to simply be a tank out of the gate. What she didn't expect however was to acquiring a seething hatred for boars and boar kind. Still, she knew she had a long way left to go in this battle. 18 more hits. This was going to be a battle of attrition. She was used to those, there had honestly been RPGs that were even more forgiving when it came to diving into take stats right away. Granted not many, this start was brutal, but this game also had her life and death on the line. She didn't really feel like she could afford not to play into her ideal archetype immediately. She didn't want to live on the edge as some people were going to, especially when the early levels were often the most dangerous. She wondered how many people had died already to these very specific boars she knew would take hours and hours of careful coordination for them to be able to widdle her health down. She had a safety net most beginners didn't and she needed to remain calm and collected in order to have to mentality last longer than the computer. She took a deep breath and calmed herself a bit. This time she waited for the first boar to charge her, readying her blade as it got closer and closer.

The boar seemingly anticipating her attack dodged as she let it loose, It tried to go for a counter attack at the same time but she was ready for it and managed to move out of the way. The second boar was however, back to its old shenanigans. It let out a squeal moments after the first boar had tried to attack Aly, and then rushed her. Giving her plenty of time to dodge the attack. She honestly wasn't sure if the boar was trying to sike her out by playing dumb and then landing critical blows, if that was the case she was fine with it as it was the least effective strategy against her the boars needed to work together for consistent damage if they wanted to take her down, Or whether the boar was really just that dumb and had just managed to score a few lucky hits. There existed the third most likely option the Aly was a complete beginner at the game and was making way too many mistakes that left her vunerable to the attacks but that wasn't something she was considering at the moment.

It was round 8 of the wet noddle fight for for the first time in a few rounds, Aly wasn't regaining HP after a hit and was completely full. Though she wasn't sure how long it was going to stay that way. this did give her a thought though that she might end up healing more damage throughout the fight then she deals to the boars. All it would take would be a total of 25 hits and she'd have accomplished that. Of course she didn't know how much damage in total she'd tanked as it didn't quite show her that when the damage number popped up. Maybe it was something she'd find out in the post battle summary screen. Either way there was only one way to know. Aly charged up her blade once more and poised herself to dash at the first boar who had looped back around as was looking to charge at her once more.

Aly brought her sword down on the boar, and though it had successfully dodged her attacks a few times now, she for some reason wasn't prepared for it this time as well. Her sword only connected with the immortal object that was ground, the purple notification popping up and telling her so. What was different this time was that the counter-attack from the first boar slammed into her moments after knocking her back a bit. The infuriating sound of the "critical hit!" popping up in her left side view almost made her blood boil, but she was set on keeping her cool especially as the other boar charged from the side. She side stepped it and glared at the boars. This had to end.

In her head she knew she wasn't fighting a pair of floor bosses. She had done her research and these mobs were just outside of the gate. It wouldn't make any feasible sense for these guys to be any kind of boss or rare mob. And Still with their crit rates, It felt like they were critical hitting every other attack, even considering the fact that there's 2 of them that would still make it around 25%.  While so far Aly was sitting at a 1 of 8.  Slightly above 12 percent. If all of her math checked out and assuming that these were the actual rates, These boars were doubling her critical hit rate. Normally Aly would think that this is hardly fair if not for the fact she hadn't got as much armor as she'd chosen. Surely these boars had killed players before And Aly was sitting here in front of them with but a scratch on her as far as health was concerned. After all their efforts and struggles and their broken abilities to critical hit. They were worse off then she was, and that was why Aly loved the tank and fighter archetype so much. Honestly if she'd have had some form of DPS player with her. She'd have been able to tank 4 or 5 of these boars no problem. Now aggro them all would be a current issue but that was one she figured she could solve later. The plan for now was still the same as ever. Take out the the crit-heavy, mud-rolling, annoying as hell boars in front of her. She readied her blade and let the golden energy release forwards

She managed to slice a part of the boar, chipping away at it's health once again. She was almost about to celebrate her progress when she heard it. That god awful ding that will forever be burned into her psyche. The cute white text of 'Critical hit!' interrupted that happiness and brought more anger. Aly spun around on the boar that had just slammed her in the back and shouted "ENOUGH ALREADY!" She wanted nothing more than to kick that boar into the stratosphere. but knew she should focus any and all damage she could get onto the other boar.

As much as she wanted to destroy the big in front of her and honestly at any given point damage was damage. It at the very least didn't seem like these boars had any kind of regen themselves, it still made the most since for Aly to focus on the one she had already chipped down below half of it's hp. She took a deep breath. 16 hits. 16 more hits was all that she needed in order to be done with this, and then after that she could invest in a better gearset to help her advance more quickly through-out the levels. With that in mind the snow colored hair girl lowered her blade at the boar she had already chipped. It seemed to be standing by attacking in turn with the other boar so as not to completely overwhelm her, but it's stamping food as it kicked up some grass was an decent feature of the game. Releasing her stored breath Aly let her blade charge up, calming her emotions and focusing solely on the long hall of the fight, and then when she felt the blade was nearly ready she charged at the boar.

Feeling the weight and energy in her blade she let it carry her forwards the golden light leaving a trail behind as she dashed through the boar, chipping it's health down ever so slight further. Spinning on her heels she was more than ready for the boars counter attack, deflecting the boar to the side with the flat end of her blade as the other boar came flying through the air looking to capitalize on her weapon being pre-occupied. But with her wits about her Aly was easily able to duck under the boar as it flew over her. She took that moment to catch her breath and refocus her attention back on the already wounded boar. 15 more.

This was good. Aly was making progress. She just had to keep on the path she was currently on. Though the last round had showed her a bit more dedication from the boars to attack in unison and coordination. Thankfully she had managed to dodge it but it was an indication of a bad thing. She wasn't too worried as she figured her armor not only had but would continue to carry her through this fight but she would definitely need keep her wits about her if she didn't want something to go wrong. Spinning towards the most wounded foe once again it appeared to be catching its breath as it turned to her once again, stamping its feet it let out a squeal much like boar #2 had been doing and began charging her.

This was expect. Aly tried to bring her blade down on the boar as it came rushing at her. The boar locked tusks with the blade and pushed against her, the weight of the boar carrying it's moment through the sword and despite the block her health bar drained a little bit, what was more important was that the action locked her up and the other boar came into her side and slammed into her, causing her to tumble and roll off to the side. Aly rolled for a moment before finally correcting her moments and sliding to a halt on her knee. Wiping some of the dirt off of her face, Aly could only say that she was more than impressed by these boars and their tactics. They seemed to have find their footing and were starting to work as a team to ensure their survival. It was a admirable at least, but even still all of their efforts had only brought Aly's health down by a tenth and she still had healing potions on her hip incase she needed them. Not that she thought she was going to, but it still something worth considering. The round had concluded and ally still had 15 more to go. Had she gone over her head with just the level 1 boars? for now she really couldn't say, sure she'd eventually win against them and she knew this was going to be a slog fest but she's beginning to wonder how much of a mistake it was to not invest in some weaponry at least before she left town. There was probably some players that had managed to one shot these boars and here she was having the fight of the century with them. Aly at least hoped that this might be the worst of her troubles in SAO as far as slog fests went, though even that she was doubtful for. This game seemed to allow you to spec as heavily as you wanted into defense, offense be damned. And while Aly might have praised that in other systems and delved as far as she could into it for shits and giggles, she really couldn't play like this in the future. After this fight at the very least she knew that she had to head in town to upgrade her weapons and hopefully after she killed these boars she might have enough XP to level and invest a few stat points into something that allowed her to do more damage.

Wiping the dirt off of her face with the back side of her hand Aly used her sword to push herself off of the ground. Repeating the mantra in her head '15 more... 15 more.... 15 more...' This was all she had to do. She didn't even really need to worry about taking hits from the boars. In fact she was probably worried about that too much, she just needed to get her hits off that was what mattered most. To that end Aly focused in on her blade once again letting the air flow out of her lunges focusing on the grey oversized rat that was marking up  the ground in front of her looking to charge once more. It's yellow health bar taunting her with how it low it was, though she knew that it would still be a little bit before she could make it shatter into the blue particles she had seen when certain things get destroyed. Taking up her sword stance, Aly's blade began to glow it's golden light as she charged up her own attack.

Letting the boar charge her first was Ally's mistake. She wanted to wait until the boar got close enough for her to unleash all of the stored energy within the blade, she was still learning how this system worked after all. Her issue was, that she held the attack for too long this time. It was a sweet spot for the attack and not simply a charge up for the attack, a mistake she wouldn't soon forget as the wasted energy left vulnerable as she lunged forwards, and the boar slammed into her gut sending her rolling backwards. That damned "Critical hit!!" chiming off in the left hand corner of her vision. She was so mad at the hit she'd just taken she forgot about the boar and only barely managed to step out of the way of a similarly powerful hit, though its grazing still dealing that same amount of damage as the full critical hit had done.  Aly let out a sigh as she watched her health drop to the lowest it's been in the entire fight. She had to get her act together, this simply wasn't acceptable at this point.

Giving herself a moment, Aly watched as her health ticked back up to 18... at least for the moment that was the case. Her energy on the other hand was slowly becoming an issue and as this fight dragged further and further it was becoming more and more likely that she was going to need to probably wait a out a few attacks with she regenerated her attacked. The girl let out an audible sigh. That was something she wanted to avoid if at all possible, but she doubted she'd have much choice. It wasn't her concern for right now however, her more pressing issue was taking down this first boar. If she could take down one of them, then she could take a nap while fighting the other boar and honestly be fine health wise. She wouldn't gain any but she also wouldn't lose any, that was simply the way MMORPGs worked. If you had high enough stats then the little guys couldn't go anything to you. Currently, Aly was in a battle to see who the littler guy is... and she was losing. It wasn't bad enough to start panicking. She knew that if she could get a crit or two into her side it would greatly help out her situation, especially as she was becoming more and more sure that these monsters didn't have any kind of in combat regeneration of their own. So after calming her emotions to not let the sound of her getting critical hit once again annoy the living hell out of her, she lowered her blade towards the boar and once again began a strike.

Going with her previous philosophy. Aly trusted in her armor and watched as the grey boar charged her head on, Without even bothering to avoid the attack she plunged her sword straight into it, finally bringing it's health into the red, as the boar its self also crashed into her dropping her health back down to the 17 it had been at just a second ago. She gritted her, as to her surprised the second boar also crashed into her from behind. This was what happened when she abandoned her own skillful defense and just let her armor do all of the work. She was focused solely on hitting the creature in front of her and nothing else mattered. With that said, her health was once again the lowest it had been yet. She wasn't quite worried yet but it would definitely be something to keep an eye one as she kept going forwards. For now, she just needed to kill that damn boar that was finally, after all her effort, in the red.

Taking a step back to get away from both of the boars Aly readied herself for the next attack. It was finally in the red. If she could get the same caliber hit as she had when she first began this first she could kill it off right here and right now. Not that she expected to get that lucky again but still as a minimum she needed three more hits. She was making progress. Headway at least, it was tangible and she could feel it. The thought was reassuring to Aly as she prepped, mentally speaking, for her next round against the boars. They were both standing right next to each other and so this would be difficult she'd likely be tanking both hits again just to get another solid hit off on the boar that was now covered in slashes and gashes with the giant one still down it's own right flank. Steeling herself Aly Readied her blade, let it glow that familiar golden color and charged, looking for a lunge attack against the boar.

Aly lunged forwards letting the now Golden blade carry her weight forwards, as she struck at... air. The boar had jumped to the left side to avoid her swing and immediately began it's counter attack. Aly waiting patiently as it charged at her, and merely stepped back avoiding the tusks swinging upwards in an attempt to hit her. She still had not been paying any mind to the other boar at all however and only barely managed to turn in to to try and get her blade in front of her attempting to deflect the attack, which she thought she had been successful in but much to her dismay while she managed to turn it's head, it lowered it at the same time. Clipping her shin and dropping her health back down. Another bad round for the wannabe knight, but she wasn't dismayed. Despite how it might seem to someone who couldn't see health bars she was still technically winning this fight. They hadn't even managed to get down a quarter of her health and she was so so close to killing the first boar that she could taste it, and from the rest of the fight would be a cake walk.

Calm relaxing emotions was the key to victory. Breathing in, hold for a few seconds, breath out. Shye had to maintain a level head if she was going to succeed in her trial. Aly watched her health bar tick up back to 17. She was definitely taking more hits now that she was putting a little more faith in her armor to carry her through this fight, however that didn't mean she was succeeding on the offensive front any more than she had been previously. She'd gotten closer for sure, but it still felt like her attacks almost had a mind of their one at times and whether she hit or not was simply up to the roll of a dice. Not that that was actually the case mind you, she knew that a game like SAO would be more skill based than anything else, but it at times it was what it felt like, where she'd learn how something felt just to have it be awkward for her the next time she tried it. It was a part of the learning process for sure but the frustration still wormed it's way under her skin at time. Regardless she had a fight to finish. Watching the Red Health boar circle around, Aly didn't waste any time charging towards it letting her blade light up gold as she planned her strike and the boar rushed towards her hoping for a similar result.

Aly plunged her sword forwards into the boar, leaving a slash along the side of it's face as it plunged its self into her, knocking her back a good few feet and causing her to need to catch her breath for a moment, thankfully she recovered in time as the second boar wheeled around and charged at her and she managed to deflect the attack towards the side of. The "Critical hit!" faded from the side of her screen that she'd been so kindly gifted by the first boar's attack. Still despite the critical hit, Aly felt a since of relief in fact of the Crit-heavy boars onslaught of scratches. She'd landed yet another hit. The boar's health had dropped that much lower and she was that much closer to finishing this fight and being able to head back into town and buy herself a sword with which she felt she could slaughter these creatures. Still, she hadn't quite realized the full extent of how long this fight was going to take, and the thought crossed her mind that the first tutorial mission, a gathering mission that had no combat, likely would have completed faster than this and given her close to enough experience to level if not just enough with the rewards from gathering, and thens he could have set about her mission of getting kills for drops. Still hindsight was 20/20 and the only thing she needed to do right was shave the last 2 hp off of this boar and bring this fight to a 1 vs 1.
