[F25-SP] Checking Off the Marks

The keening wails of Samael's Pride pierced the rage and maddening haze that was screaming through Aus' head as the slammed every part of the creature he could still see.  Orange sparks filled the air around him and as he came out of it, he realized why. Freyd had sundered most of its limbs on the nearer side, along with the accompanying row of legs.  Try as it might, the creature struggled and failed to right itself, its strength having been lost with its limbs.  Now it was just a big fat tube of toothy blubber flailing pathetically on the shore and waiting to die.  Wandering over to what he'd unofficially dubbed to be its head, Freyd pulled back and drove his fist clean through from one side to the other, most of its maw falling apart and hoovered up by his weapon and oblivion's touch.

"You okay?"  Sparing a moment to look Aus' way, he found the knight retrieving his sword from a fully severed tentacle, like some sort of gargantuan shish-kebab, left amidst a fishmonger's carnage.

"Yeah."  The grim and dour look was back, albeit undermined slightly by the slicked back slime hairdo he was sporting.

"Nice work."

"It's not quite finished yet."

"Fair.  Care to do the honours?"

"Nah.  I've had my fill.  This one's all you."

  • Dirty Waters | Every fourth turn, the <<Sweetwater Devil>> will dive underwater, making it much harder to see and therefore unattackable. Unless a Player rolls a natural LD 15+ to spot it in time, its next turn it will attack the player with the lowest hate for 300 DMG with 50% Phase.
  • Tail Sweep | On a CD 9+, the <<Sweetwater Devil’s>> attacks will hit the entire party for 225 DMG regardless of MD result, and the player with the highest hate for an additional +25 DMG, applying INCARCERATION to them for the duration of the battle.
  • Tier Lock | For the duration of the fight, all of the participants’ stats that scale with Tier are calculated as though they’re Tier 4. [DMG/MIT/BLEED enhancements etc.] This skill only locks downward. Those at Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 will still have T1, T2, or T3 stats, respectively.

Shrugging without hesitating, the Whisper pulled back his arms and felt the familiar buildup of a sword arts charge.  It wouldn't take much.  This critter was mostly dead already, though he'd appreciated its tenacity.  Well fought, friend.  Maybe we can do this again sometime?

It had no eyes left to see the blow coming.  What few limbs were still functional were too far or badly damaged to retaliate.  The creature was essentially helpless.  Freyd couldn't leave it that way.  It needed a chance to respawn and regain its former, deadly glory.  Aus was still scraping sludge from his helm's visor when a giant glow and cloud of orange motes like a swarm of fledgling fireflies flew forth over the lake at his back.  Turning, he saw the silhouette of a relentlessly advancing Whisper casually strolling his way, hands stuffed into his pockets. For some reason, the casual brutality about the man made him smile.

This had been a good day.
