»About: Kurikara is a 19 year old University student and Fencing practitioner. When he was 4 he was in a car accident that caused him to lose his left arm. He tends to be somewhat of a loner due to his perceived ostracism because of his injury, when in reality he is just afraid of being judged for being crippled. Because of his refrain from social activities, aside from fencing practice and tournaments, he has become somewhat of a bookworm/nerd due to spending most of his free time studying and reading various works of literature. However, he truly does wish to have friends, which is why he came to SAO in hopes that he could meet people without them judging him for his injury or social awkwardness.

»Virtues:

Caring: Kurikara is quite protective and kind to the people who are close to him, as rare as that may be. If he comes to to call someone a friend, he would go through great lengths to assure that they are not only safe, but happy.

Patient: Kurikara, after a few years of having somewhat of a temper, has learned to control himself in almost any situation and is willing to put up with almost anything and anyone to achieve his goals.

Respectful: Due to his years of fencing training, Kurikara has learned to be a good sport when it comes to dealing with other people. He doesn't hold grudges against people he has lost to, and he always gives a word of encouragement and a handshake to any opponent he's ever beaten. And he always follows any given rule in a situation. He now applies this behavior to his everyday life and respects the boundaries and wishes of those around him.

»Flaws:

Crippled: Due to his injury, Kurikara has only his right arm at his disposal. He has learned to rely on it rather handily, but he is unable to do many things that others take for granted due to the lack of his arm. Even though the NerveGear has given him his left arm in SAO, he is both too unfamiliar with and refuses to use his left arm in-game.

Stubborn: Kurikara can be very set in his ways about many things, such as not using his left arm in-game. He will not back down from a challenge or foe even if he doesn't believe there's a remote chance of victory or success.

Self-doubt: Kurikara has an almost crippling lack of faith in himself. He always looks back on anything he's done and over analyzes and criticizes himself to the point that he believes he failed entirely. He doesn't believe that he's worthy to succeed in anything he does, and he views any victory as a fluke on his part.

Socially awkward/impaired: Due to his injury Kurikara has never been one to go out of his way to interact with another person out of fear of being judged or ridiculed or looked down upon, and this has left him isolated from those around him. On the rare occasion he does speak to someone, he has trouble knowing what to say or do during the conversation. He tries to keep his interactions as brief as possible and quickly finds a reason to exit the situation.

Blunt: Due to his social impairment, Kurikara can come across as cold. He doesn't know the proper way to tip-toe around sensitive topics in a conversation and speaks his mind in the rare instance he finds himself talking to another person.
