[PP-23] Shaking Off the Rust, for New Time's Sake <<Slime Conundrum>>

If you could get past the nauseating smell and the extreme amount of goo, the Slime King was actually kind of cool. Star stared up at the creature. It loomed down before them, pulled into combat by Shiina. It had to have been ten feet tall. It wore a crown of bones atop a cowl of slime, and unlike the other mobs they had faced in the sewers, it wielded a weapon. A few quick steps and Star found himself clashing with the King's greatsword. He found an opening in its abdomen, and all of Wulfrin's hard work was put to waste. A layer of slime coated his sword as he pulled it out of the creature, who shrieked wildly in agony. It quieted down as paralysis took over, and its head and limbs went limp against its upright figure. The opportunity for further attacks against it appeared by chance, and came at no cost. They were lucky.

Gelatinous Form: Every time the boss’ health reaches 0, two more Kings will spawn, using the next lowest HP available. If a Slime King with the lowest amount of max HP possible dies, he will not spawn any more.

"I don't think your paralytic venom worked Star," Wulfrin said as he watched The Slime King raise its blade to retaliate. "Watch out!"

Wulfrin intercepted the king's greatsword with his own much smaller blade. The recoil sent the Slime King onto its back foot, or was it back pseudopod? It didn't exactly have legs let alone feet. Semantics aside, there was an opening and Wulfrin took full advantage. A carefully placed strike against the arm holding the greatsword caused its aim to become ever so slightly off course. Wulfrin eyed the HP bar of his current foe. At the moment there had been very little movement even with solid hits from him and Star. Solaris wasn't going to be doing much either, as Wulfrin remembered something about status effects not being as effective on this thing.

"We're gunna need to unload on this thing!" Wulfrin shouted as he prepared for another attack. "This thing is a walking Damage sponge!"

Shiina set the tune for the dance to follow, kicking things off with a literal swish of her legs that tipped the thing's tub over and spilled forth a fight.  Eruda, bless the passionate flame of her heart, seemed to be struggling against the gelatinous fiends.

"Maybe the bucket was full of fire retardant, or something?  Don't worry, Firestarter, you'll have your moment!"

Star and Wulfrin closed with flanking strikes, and to good effect as each man's blade bit deep into Mega-Jell-O the Magnificent, causing him some significantly disturbing wobbles.  

"Oh, good.  An opening!"  Literally.  Freyd dove into the mob and through it, not entirely sure how fists and kicks were going to fare against something so large, and notoriously stinky.  Lunging forward for a strike where the others had already sliced open its mass, what everyone expected to be some Earth-shattering kaboom was little more than a 'boop' as Freyd's fist sunk into the king's butt all the way up to his elbow.

"Shit.  I think I'm stuck."

Without warning as combat begins, a string of violent outbursts from awaiting weapons begin to carve in vocal outcries through the air. Each drawing faceted sweeps which linger long after the blades are removed, arms strike upon their foes in every manner to which they could. The Slime King reels, and yet still holds fast as its body takes its prior shape. Raidou was the last to draw his weapon, waiting for the attacks to pull through. A sharp tear would show a flare of a sickly maroon stuck to the length of his mirror like blade, blackened as the thick red miasma begins to drip from his shoulders. A finger to the bridge of his nose, presses the glasses against his brow. This casts a reflection of the king on those lenses, concealing his eyes from view. Even still, the faint red glow pierces that obscurity as the thickened red mist dances across the floor. Visible hatred, and as the creatures eyes mull over into a pale white it was clear it was trapped within that signature poison.

Shiina cannot help but blink twice, watching Freyd get his arm stuck in the craziest place. Wulfrin and Morningstar seemed to get in and get out with no issue, and the girl kept an eye on the battle as well as the party roster to the left of her vision. Everyone was in tip top form, although they were draining out pretty nasty too. "Freyd, When I said kick his ass I didn't mean shove your arm in his butt. At least buy him dinner FIRST!" The girl squealed out as she'd saunter over and clap that booty making it wiggle and spit the guy out. It was clear given her tone it was one of her usual jests, and once the deadlock was over a ring of illuminated glyphs fire out from beneath her. Drawing themselves on the floor like some sort of ritual circle, this one in a bright yellow it seems to spin and lock in place with the prior. The music changes tone, and within it the faint phantom chorus repeats the voice on the track.

Standard Recovery +4 EN , Full Energy no rec proc needed

Listening to Shiina, couldn't help but smile. Hearing Freyd and the others, seeing their attacks hit making the large slime's health twiddle away. There was a lot going on and it almost felt like her head was spinning. Glaring at the flames that she wasn't able to ignite like she use to. The wedding, it was so close, the placement the people that were going to be there to witness. Swiftly moving past her to get to Raidou as red mist began to fill the interior. What the hell was wrong with her today. Never once had she been this detracted by such a simple thing... Closing her eyes listening to everything going on around them. It was loud and a lot of swishing due to the slime laying beneath their feet.

Eruda starts to focus on the flames around, the heat under her feet. The sound of metal slicing through water base. Taking a deep breath, there was nothing that she couldn't do if she just believed. Her team needed her help, that is exactly what she was going to do. Eyes open, blue iconic flames can be seen within her eyes, that heat burned within her. Clearing her head, there was a time and place, this was not it. Gripping that sword, watching the movements of each slide of the creature. It was time to set this King ablaze.

His paralysis lasted mere seconds before the king shrugged it off and returned to a state of animosity. Star clicked his tongue. He should have expected immunity, but was too caught up in the fight to think about it. He'd slipped up. The Slime King thrashed at him, and came close to hitting him a number of times. He was positioned too close for comfort, having thought the creature would be stunned a while longer. He weaved around the mob and circled back behind his frontline, where he waited for his next opportunity to strike.

It came far quicker than he had expected. His party took turns creeping in and out of its range, attacking whenever the chance arose. He followed suit, and with a strong slash, cracked its mitigation a step further. He watched as the numbers by the king's sizeable health bar dropped. Slowly but surely, they were making a dent in it.

Wulfrin focused on his enemy trying to predict its movements. Once he had found an opening he lunged forward attempting to slow the Slime King's attacks. Unfortunately, his jelly highness seemed to have expected Wulfrin's attack. With unnatural body movements only possible with a hyper malleable form, The Slime King morphed around Wulfrin's blade causing it and its wielder to pass through the boss harmlessly. On the other side, Wulfrin slipped on a puddle of the green gelatin. He stumbled for a minute before righting himself.

"Damn," Wulfrin said as he readied another attack. "Slippery bastard aren't you."

One day he'd be able to reliably hit boss mobs like this, but unfortunately today was not the day. His face would say it all. He was determined to fell their foe. He leveled his blade at the slime king. I will bring you down. If for no other reason than to prove I can play in the big leagues. I will wield Icingdeath soon.

Rippling waves set into motion by none other than the Queen of Crayon herself somehow freed Freyd from his unenviable predicament.  Screeching filled the air as Samael's Pride's bindings instantly yielded, giving voice to the void within.  The sword art practically propelled itself, dragging him along for the ride as his fist flung forward, devouring a path as it carved its way through the thing's flank.

"Thanks, toots."  An offering of gratitude, notably including relief that he hadn't just made the boss fart his fingers out.  That would have just been... eww.

Poor Eruda seemed to be struggling today, possibly distracted by the sheer number of sideways glances she kept giving her future husband.  "Just think of this thing as a huge campfire fuel puck," he suggested, hoping to spark a little inspiration.

"This part is always a bit of a slog, but worth it when he finally goes down.  Wulf and Star, I made you an opening.  Have fun with it."

Rending deep into his foe, Raidou pivots and blocks a blow from an arm made manifest into a large double headed axe. The gelatinous monarch swipes aggressively time and time again, finding purchase on nothing more then a repositioned blade. The nomad pivots and sheers that steel through clean, causing the top half to flop to the ground and reform into an entirely separate entity. Such was the way of the slime king, a battle of attrition and endurance. "Perfect." The man remarks turning the flat of his blade and adjusting his glasses with his left hand.

The slime king writhes and rebuilds its upper half, lapping up awaiting soup and converting it to a brand spanking new torso. Arms elongate and transition from jelly blobs into these large pair of sharpened rods. Attacks come out and force Raidou back on the defensive, as it becomes an exchange of whirling blades against a practiced defense.

A twist of her wrist and a pump of the volume sees her focus again her energy upon the whisper, offering him a solid supercharge. "Wonder how long this is goin take." The girl chirps between the lyrics, keeping the tone working with every verse. The circle of symbols beneath her feet continue to spin and fill the chamber with greenish light, working away at the composure of their foes with the oddest of potency. There was soup and then there was this thing, like a never-ending Walgreens can of lacquered paint thinner that got everywhere and made the place stink in the most intoxicating syrup.

With a flop a singular stone falls from some space in her armor, and Shiina simply presses the flat of her foot on top of it and slides it out into the awaiting ring. Trying to keep ahead of the duration, it bolsters the rhythm in a newly formed chaos of mismatched music that eerily matched up in ways that it shouldn't. Straight up the 'gile theme goes with anything'. The proverbial soup slides over the thing and slurps it up, causing the muffled sound to reverberate inside as it floated in there like fruit in jello.

Eruda's sword tries to ignite, but it seemed to be having trouble. "Dam it..." Eruda watches as the others and just laying into these things. Eruda couldn't seem to get that kindle to light... Watching as her future husband blocks the blows like a champ... There was something missing... there had to be. Eruda closes her eyes. Eruda has never had this much trouble with anything she had done. Distractions or not, she was always on top of things like this. Taking a deep breath, trying to get her head in the game. She could feel that energy within her it was just stuck and she had not a clue why.

What was different from before... Was it that she didn't feel the need to fight anymore? That she didn't believe it was necessary anymore, it that why her flame wouldn't light. Preposterous... Her friends needed her, her family needed her, she had to snap out of it... Eruda started to focus on the words -try or die trying-, it was something that she had lived by so long in this game, why stop now...

The Slime King had made a friend. How lovely. Morningstar rushed in once more. His focus remained on the King itself, ignoring the Abomination that spawned next to it, and slashing at the former's waist. It landed, but didn't seem to do even a single point of damage. He pulled back, confused, only to realize that his sword had gotten stuck.

 Again.

"Dammit, dude," he muttered, pulling with all of his strength.

The sword didn't budge, and so Morningstar was forced to dodge and weave the up close swings of the King and his pal. It wasn't a very fun game they were playing. It almost made him want to abandon his sword. If it hadn't been so expensive, maybe he would have. Alas, he wasn't full of scales and shards anymore, and he didn't have a replacement up his sleeve either. For now, he would continue to pull on the hilt.

Wulfrin flanked around the prime example of mitosis before him, following Morningstar in to attack in a pincer formation. This would ultimately prove to be a terrible move, as when his blade moved towards the Slime King, everything came crashing down... literally. The Slime King morphed its body to avoid the strike from behind, not shocking considered it was very fast at reactions. The abomination? Well it now had a sword with no swordsman wielding it lodged in its gelatinous form.

"Crap baskets," Wulfrin said seconds before his expediated meeting with the slime covered stone floor with a comical *thud*. "Some one please kill this thing."

Wulfrin groaned as he pulled himself back to his feet. The party was losing ground and fast. Quickly he darted back to his place with the rest of the group narrowly dodging some retaliatory strikes from the two Jell-O monsters.

"You guys got this right?" Wulfrin said to his companions. "I'm not so sure I'm going to be much help in this one."

"Hang in there, everyone.  Slog, remember?  It's true tactic is to wear you down."  Watching the others flagging, Freyd wondered how fists were supposed to fare better than blades against a gauntlet of Jell-O monsters, but cast aside his doubts.  They needed to rally and punch through this thing, knowing that the boss had not yet even split yet.  Maybe we save that news for when it happens?  The rest of the crew were already getting weary.

Charging his most potent sword art, Freyd focused on Wulfrin's beleaguered weapon, unleashing the power of his attack into driving the weapon through the slime to slice it in half.  It worked!  Kinda.  Enough to loose the weapon and knock off half the mob's health, at least.  Grabbing and tossing the freed blade back to his protege, he finished his spin by kicking the battered, semi-solid slime into its liege, splattering the two against the wall.

"Okay.  So not my best, but it worked, alright?  But I'm improvising.  Keep at it, people.  We've got this!"

A flash in the swordsman's eye would prove his focus, and with it a film of red begins to ooze from him in a thickened crimson mist. The king would rush to him in an horrifying frenzy and attacks come out in a parade of 4 arms in an unending assault. Yet the ringing of metal, the showers of sparks and the flutter of a dark red robe are the only response. Blow after blow connect with the Ebon Vanguard, with each a crash like thunder that would echo off the walls. The creature slows, its sudden vigor spent and winded. A light tap of the glasses on his nose, Raidou would hold his ground and rotate his blade. "Is that all?" The man remarks in a goad that was not typical of him. His head lowers, his back leg sliding out before a single sharp backhand as his body pivots. The black star rings true, with a boom with such gravity that the walls would shake. Ass over teakettle, the slime king tumbles across the chamber at such velocity it nearly breaks the sound barrier. It connects with the back wall with such a force that it explodes into a tsunami of green.

As it would form up around the party, creating other entities in desperate attempt to give itself some advantage. All it would find is an array of players far too strong to be concerned.

Shiina would continue her musical domination of the slime king's little sewer domain, causing the entire place to riddle with a harsh whisper and vibrant composition. Another gesture of her hands down to the floor, as if clutching some invisible trunk lid and lifting up with a heavy heave. With it, the team would see their weapons again alight with color like over fueled lanterns. The hues of their own arts yet dialed up to 11, as the songstress tapped some unseen power or pushed their own far beyond the normal scope. "I feel fine though." Shiina remarks as her little digital ticker held strong, showing that she'd somehow skirted beyond exhaustion. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact she was entirely bat shit. Or this was all just a magnificent game. However the point stood, and she'd play the part of emotional and physical support for as long as she could muster.

Watching the crowd, another Abomination comes oozing out from the king. Eruda was having issues today and yes she didn't know why but that was her own problem, she would hate to be rubbing her notion off on the others. Turning to Wulfrin and Morningstar, "Don't give up, we still have a long way to go." Glancing toward the creatures that were slowly forming around them, blue flames begin to burn at her feet before an outburst of energy strikes the foes where they stood. They look to her in almost pure rage, the king seemed to keep his focus on Raidou, good. "I know we don't know each other, but what I've seen here is honest skill. I believe in you all, keep up the pressure. I will keep them off you," taking a deep breath, remembering those words that both the white-haired woman and Raidou has told her time and time again. You can do anything if you just try... Eyes follow to the creatures, "Come and get it..." as she holds up her shield, readjusting her feet. This is were she shined.

Strength in Numbers: If any other Slime monsters are alive, every second attack, the <<Slime Abomination>> will instead heal every Slime for its DMG.
Unison: If another Slime monster falls, <<Slime Abomination>> will gain +10 DMG for the rest of the battle.

With assistance from his party, his sword came loose. It slid out of the gooey monstrosity covered in a thick layer of slime. Twice in one day was more than he could stand for. He spun to the side, clipping the Slime King once on the arm and then again on the torso. They clashed blades briefly, interrupted by a second abomination. Its arrival was more of an inconvenience than anything. The combination of the slime's lack of brain cells and Raidou and Eruda's incredible hate values made it impossible for them to catch Star while he moved around them. Eruda called to Star and Wulfrin, seemingly as an attempt to keep them motivated. He didn't want to speak for the other redcoat, but the blonde was good to go. He gave the girl a nod and a grin as he snapped back into the fight, slashing the King across the back.

His sword back in hand, Wulfrin charged back into the fray. The mobs were getting out of hand, and thus required him to provide the party just a little bit of breathing room. His blade shined a vibrant crimson as he brought it to bare against the slime monsters before them. Each one recoiling as his blade made a solid impact scattering parts of their goopy masses across the stones. The remaining masses simply quivered and ceased their onslaught long enough for the rest of the party to gather their thoughts.

"Stunned them," Wulfrin said between pants of breath. "Hopefully it can give us an opening to reclaim some ground."

Wulfrin quickly recentered himself with the rest of his group. They had been making good progress up until now, the Slime King acting as a near impassible object. It was taking hit after hit and spawning more and more mooks trying to draw attention off itself.
