The last time he had been to Floor 5 went quite well. So why not go up to Floor 6? That had been Euled's thought process when debating to move up floors. With his shiny new gear, his totally super cool coat given to him by a totally super cool player, what could go wrong, right?

And so, he found himself settling down in the nearby town of Krycim, sitting down with a thud on a wooden stool at the nearby tavern. His stomach wasn't rumbling, so foregoing eating for now would be his choice.

I guess I should rest for now. It's getting late, after all.

Eventually, he found his way to the local inn and put a small sum of col on the counter for payment. The room that he had been given was pretty plain looking, no complaints on his side. Eventually, sleep began to overtake him, and his eyes fluttered shut.

The dawn of a new day had arrived. His eyes fluttered open in a similar fashion as before, the bright sun blasting his eyelids and forcing them awake.

Ugh...So bright.

Immediately, he got up and went to shut his curtains, his longsword nestled by his bed. It was still early morning, so he decided to peruse the stores around Krycim. There were a few blacksmiths littered around, a few general stores, a few inns. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary as he walked around, the pathways leading him to new places, his longsword sheathed on his back.

I've got the strangest feeling...

It was one of those days where he couldn't shake off a gut feeling that something would happen out of the ordinary, something unusual, something strange. Whether that was good or bad, he didn't know. In any case, he decided to keep walking.

I'll just beat up anything that's a threat.

A little bit more walking ensued. Eventually, Euled found himself back in the town square of Krycim. It wasn't nearly as densely populated as the Town of Beginnings, but it still held its worth. He could spot a few players walking in and out of shops and NPCs giving out quests like candy. Euled pondered accepting a quest too, but he doubt they would give him anything worth while. Not anything that would give him lots of EXP, at least.

I guess I've done a full circle of the town. What now?

His thoughts were answered by a person completely shrouded in pitch black robes walking up to him. From what he could make out, the cloaked person was male. It wasn't a player, so...just what the hell was it? The NPC got into talking range and started conversing with Euled. He had never seen a person like this in his entire life. The way he spoke to him with familiarly threw him off.

"Huh? Who are you?"

Eventually, the cloaked figure began to explain his intentions. Apparently he'd been watching Euled this whole time, his trials and tribulations, and wanted to spar him in a friendly duel. A duel to test Euled's combat ability. For some reason, no NPC or player had paid attention to him or even glanced his way to take notice of this cloaked guy who stuck out of place like a sore thumb. He was full of mystery and uncertainty, something Euled didn't like.

This guy's been following me this whole time??

"How have you been following me??"

His question was met with a slight smile and a simple "I have my ways." It was a little creepy, but Euled brushed it off. It wasn't like he could change it now, after all. The guy was shady, and for some reason, he had the exact same voice as Euled, but he decided to accept, anyway. What could go wrong?

"Sure...I guess.

The cloaked man seemed to smile, walking off somewhere and gesturing back to Euled to follow him.

This is getting more shady by the minute..

Still, they were in a safe zone, so it's not like he could die or anything. Reluctantly, Euled followed him, the comforting presence of his sword still on his back. He led him into a corner of the town he didn't know about, navigating through the shifting cobble paths and houses strewn about Krycim. He glanced around the place furtively, on edge.

"Don't be so cautious."

"How could I not be...?"

He doubt he would try to kill him or anything, so he continued. The scenery barely changed, as they neared the exit of Krycim. Euled didn't even know there was an exit here: he had chalked it up to missing a few nooks and crannies during his stroll around the town. They were leaving a safe zone.

Continuing their trek, the scenery shifted. It was a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Krycim, a small lake of water that flowed upstream into a creek. Various rocks of different shapes and sizes accompanied a few dark-green trees. Euled didn't know how to describe the atmosphere. He didn't even remember how he could've gotten here from Krycim. There wasn't a single player nor a single NPC in sight. He wondered how nobody in Krycim had discovered this area sooner than he had seen it.

A forest preceded the lake, trees twisting to form a path through branches and mist alike to the little creek they were positioned at. For some reason, Euled swore that something was off, all throughout the walk he had with the cloaked figure. The water brought him a sense of calm, looking at it.

"This is nice and all..but why are we here exactly?"

Suddenly, without warning, his question was answered by a shift of movement right behind him.

...Huh?

A sword swung in the trajectory of Euled's arm. He felt the blade sink into his skin, though nothing critical.

"Urk..!"

Instinctively, he leapt away, taking a look at his assailant now that the black cloak shrouding them was thrown off from the attack.

Wh-what the hell? Is that...me?

The same chestnut coloured hair, the same green eyes, the same fur coat draped around his arms and even the same blade in his hands. What he was fighting looked like a copy of himself. He unsheathed his blade, a mixture of caution and confusion.

"Who the hell are you?! You're a monster too?!"

"What, can't handle something as small as this? I thought you were gonna be the hero of the frontlines. If you can't beat me, you've got no chance of survival."

"Shut up!"

First Nemo, now this guy?? My luck's really running short, huh?

Looking behind him, the forest made it too hard to navigate through to a safe zone. It seemed this encounter would leave only one of them standing.

If there was one silver lining to this, it was that this copy monster of him didn't look out of the ordinary. He had the same weapon, the same armour. Euled would know the ins and outs of his tactics and weapons, but then again, so would he. It seemed that this would come down to either luck or skill.

"Why're you even attacking me for no reason?!"
"..."

No response?

Speaking to the copy yielded no result, so Euled decided to let their blades do the talking. The copy stood there, waiting for an attack, and he gladly obliged.

I've gotta win...

Spending all his energy now wouldn't be a wise choice. He let out a yell and leapt into battle, bringing his blade to his shoulder and striking down on the Gemini three times, taking away half of its HP.

"Sharp Nail!"

"..."

...No reaction.

Even though his attack had put a gigantic chunk in his HP bar, the copy remained silent, stoic, expressionless. He barely even reacted to the attack, not flinching at all. The downtime from the sword skill made Euled rooted in place for a split second, but a split second was all he needed. Blocking or weaving away would fail, as he felt his sword run a big gash line across his chest, wounding him critically. Even though the cardinal system had toned down the pain from the injuries anyone could receive, it still stung.

"Ghk!"

Instantly, he ran back, creating distance between him and pulling out his menu, eyes scanning furtively for a healing potion. Eventually, he landed on it, the vial of red liquid crystalising in his open palm from thin air. He gulped it down, throwing away the empty vial and wiping his mouth. This battle would be drawn out: both their attacks could do devastating damage to the other party, the only question was if he could land his hits or not.

I should've gotten an ACC boosting accessory or something back in that town...

For some reason, he felt the strangest sense of deja vu.

He could feel life flowing back into his veins as he gulped down the potion, his health bar increasing by a big increment, going from an amber yellow colour to a healthy light green. From what Euled could tell, his mirror man couldn't use potions or skills.

I've just gotta hit him hard again, and it's over.

Brandishing his new sword again, he would go in for another attack. Euled's energy was almost one third down, so his sword didn't glow this time. Instead, all he did was swing his sword down in a simple motion. The strong metal would impact into the coat in a menial fashion; it barely left a dent. The Gemini was unaffected; his attack not whittling away at his HP bar at all. The only way he could do damage was with skills, it seemed. This fight would be long, but not everlasting. One of them would gas out eventually.

After his attack connected to no effect, Euled tried to draw his sword back. It's not like he pierced through anything, so it was easy to do so. His copy would lunge at him in a similar fashion to before, the tip of his sword pointed dangerously at his chest where all his vital organs were.

I won't fall for the same thing twice!

He raised his sword up for the metal to brush against the other sword, letting sparks fly and nullifying the attack. However, things were not going to go as he planned. The attack connected, but the copy could definitely hit harder than him. Their swords clanged together as Euled desperately pushed back with his handle, eventually making the blades repel eachother. The Gemini acted first, using this moment of opportunity to weave down low and slice through Euled's kneecaps. There wasn't any blood, but it still hurt.

Reeling from the pain, he would grunt through it and swip his sword in a reverse grip, aiming to stun him using the pommel of his blade. While his copy was in the attack motion, he ducked outside of Euled's attack, making him slam his sword hilt into nothing, uselessly. He looked quite stupid, almost tripping over from excessive force put into the attack. It made his blood boil. Even though the Gemini had no reaction thus far, he could've sworn he saw the faint markings of a smirk appear on his face. It was like he was trying to provoke him, the intentions behind this assault still unclear. Was he just toying with him?

I'll wipe that smirk off!

Again, he would rush in with a yell, clenching his sword upward in a horizontal motion. A green tinge would make the sword alight, using it to try to land 2 consecutive hits.

The reinvigorated assault caused by Euled would prove to be useless. Shuffling out of the way, the metal on his blade slashed uselessly into thin-air, giving him just a split second of end-lag before returning back to a neutral swordplay stance. His breathing became coarse and uneven; this fight had been drawn out for far too long. Maybe they were equal in strength, or maybe the copied version of Euled was toying with him. Either way, he wouldn't lose. It seemed to be an even match-up, slightly leaning towards the original Euled in a bout of attrition.

"Seriously, this guy is a pain..."

Almost in-cue with his words, the Gemini leapt forth at him, sweeping his one handed blade in wide arcs at Euled. They were sloppy, but damn, they looked like they hurt. "Maybe this guy was getting tired as well," Euled thought.

Not so tough now, are you...?
