Nymoria 0 Posted July 31 #1 Share Posted July 31 Quest: <<Captured>> Nymoria was feeling optimistic. It was a rare feeling, one which she didn't normally feel; especially recently. She'd awoken, oddly, in a good mood. A true feeling of success and a desire to push outwards into the world once more, following the success she'd had with training Musei. Her mood had only improved as the morning went on, with everything seemingly going wholly and entirely right. She'd found no reasons to complain following her morning routine, and even her breakfast had tasted better than normal, somehow. I think the barista was surprised when I asked if they changed the menu. She signed again to Musei, her amusement at the women's reaction still causing her to giggle with glee. Musei had settled onto her shoulder, content to look over the area as they had passed through and by the various streets. Nymoria had spent some time looking over the available quests and activities for the day, before deciding that she had wanted to test out her new weaponry and skills, more than anything else. The decision had led her to accepting a quest focused on bandits terrorising the third floor's town of Flora; a place that Nymoria had visited a few times before. She had always thought of the town as lovely, in it's own mystical way. The quest information had mentioned a woman by the name of...Issela? Her fingers moved in an odd manner as she spelt out the NPC's name. It was unfamiliar, and to Nymoria it felt odd on her fingers, like a weird taste on her tongue, or an odd scent in her nose. Her eyes passed over the nearby individuals, looking for any NPCs that appeared distraught, or as if they had some desire to speak to a player. She eventually found her mark in what appeared to be an extremely agitated, nervous woman who was glancing at every passerby as if hoping to stop one of them. As soon as Nymoria had locked eyes with the green-hued haired woman, the NPC was moving towards her, her lips moving and the words hitting Nymoria's mind mere seconds later. "Excuse me, excuse me! I was hoping you could help! I've got...I've got a problem! I need your help. Please! It's my son!" Nymoria waited patiently as the woman explained her predicament. She managed to stay aware long enough to hear about how the woman's son had been kidnapped, taken to a nearby keep of some sort, and now the woman was frantic about his safe return. She found her attention lasping, however, when she continued explaining all about the help that Nymoria could be, and how she relied on Nymoria's involvement. Her attention was only wretched back once the notification had appeared in front of her, confirming whether she wanted to accept the quest or not. She pressed the acceptance button even as she signed, smiling at the NPC. Don't worry, I'll get him back. Nymoria 0 Posted July 31 Author #2 Share Posted July 31 She'd managed to disengage from the NPC after some minor reassurances that she would bring the woman's son back. Everything she'd managed to learn about the quest, as little as that may have been, suggested that it was well within her grasp to do. She'd taken the time to ask a few of the lower levelled players she'd worked with before, who had been kind enough to provide her with some of their own details. She still wasn't sure if they'd done so due to feeling obligated, or because they felt sorry for her. Either way, it had given her a head start on the quest, and that was all that mattered to her in the moment. The path leading out of the city itself had been uneventful. There were a few minor creatures and NPCs, most of which Nymoria took the time to skirt around, but otherwise the trail was empty and void of any life. It was a change that Nymoria walked into with happiness and true enthusiasm. She'd come to hate the bustle of the large settlements, preferring instead the open fields, or small hamlets that littered the outer areas of the floors she had visited. Some had their dangers, to be sure, but Nymoria had found the quiet calm of those areas far more desireable than the safety inlaid with the noise and oppressiveness of the larger cities to be far more appealing. You know, I should really look into buying a house out here somewhere. Maybe this floor would have something nicer on the outskirts of the floor itself. What do you think, Musei? She signed towards Musei as she walked, her eyes flitting all around as she took in the forest and fields, as much enjoying the area as keeping an eye out for dangers. The rapier at her hip was a stark reminder that although the area felt welcoming and calming, it was still dangerous.
Nymoria 0 Posted July 31 Author #3 Share Posted July 31 The forest around Nymoria was beautiful. She'd liked the flow of the trees, and the way the winds swept through it ever since she'd found the floor. Even though she'd never truly pressed into it's depths, nor had she strayed too far from the beaten paths that were known to be safe towards lower levelled players, she'd always found the draw of them alluring. Like a mermaid's song calling out to sailors, or so she'd been told. Her eyes ranged across their flowing limbs, watching as leaves seemed to dance against the soft breeze that played at them, enraptured by the way that they seemed to almost glitter against the small amounts of sunlight that shone through the canopies. The more time I spend here, the more I think a house within the woods would be nice. What do you think, Musei? Her fingers flashed even as she continued following the path, her eyes lingering over the various areas that surrounded her. She never felt like the woods were pressing inwards - she'd spoken with some who complained about that; the way in which they felt oppressed or overwhelmed by the trees on all sides. In fact, somehow it felt more freeing in a way, although she couldn't explain why. We could maybe look into buying a cabin, or something. Once I've saved up enough col, that is. It would be expensive to buy something, but I think if we keep going the way we're going...I mean, soon I'll be able to start grinding through those random enemies we come across without worry. Right? The weasel gave another tap on her shoulder in agreement, his nose seemingly sniffing the air in casual interest. They'd developed a simple communication theme between the two of them, where Nymoria didn't need to focus on the small critter in order to understand his responses. It was simple enough - set upon a number of taps - but it worked, for them. In turn, Musei had proven highly capable of monitoring her fingers for her speech, as well as the areas surrounding them. Rarely, she'd had to repeat herself for the weasel's lack of attention.
Nymoria 0 Posted July 31 Author #4 Share Posted July 31 They'd come to a crossroads at one point, and Nymoria had been required to check the small marker on her mini-map in order to determine where they should be going. She'd considered, for the briefest of seconds, taking the opposite path just to see where it led, before remembering why they were out here to begin with. Although she'd never heard of a timed quest, she didn't want to push her luck. It was more than plausible that there was information out there that she didn't have, and testing Cardinal seemed like a horrible idea. Based on this, we should be almost there. This is going a lot easier than I would have expected, Musei. There was a hesitation and emphasis in her signs, a clear display of the nervousness she was feeling about the whole thing. It was rare for quests and events to go so smoothly for her; in fact, she'd become used to snags and hitches appearing just when she thought she was going to finish something without any sort of hindrance or hiccup. We should keep our eyes out- Her sentence was cutoff as she stepped around a corner and felt the ground give way beneath her. She landed, thankfully, on her feet only a few metres down. A quick glance at her health bar confirmed that she was relatively unharmed, although she was now trapped within the ground. Yeah, this seems about right. Go to save someone who's trapped. Get trapped myself. Figures. She sighed aloud as she glanced about her new prison, trying to figure out where to go from here. Her eyes passed over an opening in the rockwall nearby, and she found herself moving closer to inspect it. Although not large by any means, it was clear that she could slide through - if she was careful. Without asking, Musei had leapt through the crevice in order to inspect it, his nose appearing seconds later as he swished his tail in a calm manner. Content with the weasel's inspection, Nymoria began sliding herself into, and through the small crack in the wall. Nymoria 0 Posted July 31 Author #5 Share Posted July 31 She'd slipped through the wall easy enough, finding the opening to be wider than it first appeared. A slight curvature had hidden away the true width, and Nymoria had found herself sliding slightly around it in order to pass through, before stepping onto the ground on the opposite side. A large tunnel, leading in the same direction she'd been heading above ground, lay before her. Small cracks in the ceiling of the tunnel provided more than enough light to see by, without causing it to appear foundationally distressing. Guess we go this way, Musei. Her fingers moved as she stepped forwards, the small weasel jumping up and onto her leg before making his way towards her shoulder for a more comfortable position. Nymoria slowed just enough to allow him the chance to leap upwards, before picking up her pace once more. She wasn't necessarily in a rush, taking time to review the area around her and watching for any signs of danger towards herself, but she kept her speed picked up from the normal walking she would use. She was still uncertain whether the quest had a time sensitive side to it or not, and only knew that she didn't want to push her luck with it. She slowed only when she noticed Musei's nose twitching, his expression one of uncertainty. She flashed a few signs in the area, confirming what she already suspected. Someone's up ahead. He can smell it. Drawing her sabre slowly, she slid up to the edge of the tunnel's curve she had been approaching, siddling up against the wall in an attempt to make her presence less obvious. She doubted that any monsters would acknowledge her presence until she entered their area of awareness, but she also knew that it was better to take care and not draw attention to oneself unncessarily. Maybe it's the missing teenage boy?
Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #6 Share Posted August 1 Her steps carried her around the curve of the tunnel, her eyes glancing about even as she stepped outwards and into the open. When nothing met her gaze, she felt herself sigh slightly, releasing the tension that had been building up inside of herself. She hadn't quite been sure what to expect, but somehow the emptiness of the area made her realise that she'd been fearing the worst, somehow. Shaking her head to clear away the concern that had been building up, as much as the tension of her muscles, she forced a smile on her face. Clearly I'm just way too on edge, Musei. See? There's nothing here. The fingers of her right hand moved as she signed, the sword in her left dropping only slightly as she lowered her guard. The weasel had remained on her shoulder, the nose twitching as it seemed to consider something on the air. Nymoria was about to ask what was wrong when the forms of two humans stepped out and into the light, displacing the shadows as they appeared. How did I miss- Her thoughts were cut off as she was forced backwards, her sabre barely coming up in a defensive block as she saw the right hand man - a large, fat bald man that smiled in an unappealing way - pull a battleaxe backwards and lunge at her, the blades ringing softly against her ears as she deflected the strike meant for her chest. Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #7 Share Posted August 1 Her sabre flashed in response as the battleaxe was driven down to the side, Nymoria taking the opening and rushing into it. The flash of metal vibrated in her hand as it connected first with the axe wielding man, before lashing out sideways and catching the taller, skinnier man in the side of his torso. Both figures froze on the spot as the technical skill locked them in place, giving Nymoria the chance to step backwards and away from them, her breath coming quickly as she realised this was her first true form of combat. Oh. Ohohohoh. This is not good. There's two of them! Well, I guess there could be more. But this isn't good! I'm not strong enough for this! She fought against the panic as it began to rise in her, the blade trembling in her hand noticeable enough that the eyes of the axe man had drawn towards it. The stun effect had worn off mere seconds later, and the two had begun to circle around Nymoria, each looking for an opening in her defences as she tried desperately to keep herself backed against the wall. They moved quickly, and Nymoria found herself launching into action nearly as fast in response to their movements, her own agility and speed surprising her as her feet pushed off and the blade trailed through the air. The axe man had come at her far slower than the companion, whose chose in longsword gave him a slight advantage. Not that it was anywhere near as fast as Nymoria's own sabre, the rapier-styled weapon light and nimble, capable of dancing around their weapons with ease. Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #8 Share Posted August 1 The blade of her sabre danced around the longsword, slashing at the man's chest and driving him backwards. Almost too late she noticed the approach of the battleaxe, the weapon driving around in a wide arc towards her torso. Nymoria swept her own blade around, connecting with the side of the haft and driving it downwards in a desperate plunge. It was enough momentum to drive it away from her, but gave her first opponent the chance to slash at her with the longsword, cutting the back of her leg as she tried to step away. I'm okay! I'm okay! I'm outnumbered...but I'm okay! Oh...oh I need to be careful... She spent the next few seconds dancing around the pair of weapons, half-heartedly returning strikes that never connected as she did nothing more than avoid taking more damage. She knew, from what little experience she had, that prolonged combat would never go in her favour. But she also knew that she was outmatched. Unless something drastic happened in her favour, she would be felled by these two - and the thought of it was driving her chest into a painful spasm. A sudden shift in the longsword's step caught Nymoria's attention, and she saw an opening in the form of his falter. Knowing that it could be a feint as much as an actual positioning that she could use in her favour, she drove forwards with her sabre, slashing with the blade in an attempt to try and overwhelm any thoughts of attack the two may have. It was an entirely desperate maneuver, but Nymoria knew that she was left with nothing but desperate maneuver's now. Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #9 Share Posted August 1 The pair had faltered only slightly at Nymoria's sudden assault against them. It was far from enough to end either one of them, but she found herself being able to drive down the health bars of each one rather significantly. The spinning of her sabre had caught them entirely unprepared, and as she drove point to blade through their defences and around their own weapons, she felt a single moment of satisfaction at her success. That was, until the longsword had been driven into her side and thrown her across the tunnel's small space into the distant wall. She rolled to the side as she felt the battleaxe embed into the ground beside her. Her eyes were wide with fear now, her health bar having been significantly drained, and the small amount of recovery she was receiving far from overcoming the speed at which it was being depleted. I need to find a way out of this, and quick. I can't keep this up for long. She considered the teleportation crystal that had been stored in her pants pocket, kept for safe keeping and events just like this. Although it was tempting to flee to safety, however, she knew that if she ran away now, she would simply have to return later and repeat the whole thing over again. Fine, but if it gets worse...I'm gone. Nodding to herself in agreement, she rolled up and onto her feet, bringing her blade up as she turned to face the pair of bandits. They had her trapped well and good now, her back against the wall as they slowly approached from either side. Nymoria glanced in each direction, looking for any sort of advantage, realising that there was none. There was nothing to do now, except press forwards, and hope that a sudden charge would take them by surprise enough that she could speed through and past their forms. Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #10 Share Posted August 1 Her sudden shift in movement had either surprised them enough to let her past, or they'd underestimated her ability and fluidity. Either way, Nymoria found herself surging past the two and into the open area, spinning even as she rushed past them in an attempt to lay the stun effect onto them once more. Her sabre danced around the forms, barely managing to slash into the sides of each enough to cause them to tense up for the few seconds she needed in order to put even more distance between herself and them. Once more she considered her avenue of escape, wondering if she was pressing her luck by remaining here, considering how dangerous it had already been. These two are obviously a part of the gang that took the NPC's son...maybe if I can just...hang on a bit more, I can figure out a way to tackle the keep and get him out of here. It was as desperate as her desire to focus on bringing these two down, and although she was confident that she was holding her ground, Nymoria knew that it was a very close and dangerous gamble. Still, she wasn't quite ready to give up. Her decision was taken from her, however, as she saw the movement of the axe coming towards her, forcing her to duck underneath it as she was thrown into combat once more. Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #11 Share Posted August 1 With the first bandit taken down, Nymoria turned her sights on the last one. She knew, at least for the moment, that she was still in a bad place. Her saved up energy had been depleted, she was feeling exhausted, and had none of her skills left to use at the current time. The best she could do, for now, was to hold on and hope that she could last long enough to recover her energy to the point where she could bring down the bandit. Pulling up her inventory, Nymoria smashed the button for the health potion, watching as it appeared in her hand. Without waiting she uncorked the item, tipping it back even as she stepped backwards out of the way of the wild swing from the still standing bandit. She knew that she was playing a precarious game - one wrong step, one wrong moment and it would all be over for her. There was nothing she could do now other than to try and tip the scales of fate in her favour, as her mother would often have said. Her eyes searched all over the place even as she retreated slightly, as much trying to keep an eye on the bandit as watching for others to arrive. The last thing she needed now was to be caught between this individual and a collection of fresh friends. I just need to hold on until I can end this...which I can do! So long as he doesn't land his hits, I'm at an advantage...just keep moving then. Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #12 Share Posted August 1 She felt a sliver of fear as the battleaxe once again tore into her side, sending her reeling from the momentum more than the power of the attack itself. She watched as the health bar depleted itself, draining slowly as the battle healing skill tried desperately to keep her going. Drawing another of the health potions from her inventory, she downed the item in a flurry of movement all while trying to back away from the bandit and put more space between her and him. Whether it could sense her fear, or was simply responding to her own movements, Nymoria wasn't sure - yet the man rushed forwards, determined to try and drive his weapon into her again. This is not going the way I hoped. I need to find some more distance, and maybe a bit more...I don't know, something...to make this more likely to go in my favour. Why did I have to attack them both at once? The thoughts were stopped as the battle axe slammed into the wall beside her, causing chunks of stone to fly into the air and spray the tunnel in all directions. Her feet didn't stop, trying to get her separate from the bandit as she dove further and further down the tunnel. Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #13 Share Posted August 1 It didn't seem to matter how much distance she tried to place between herself and the bandit. Each swing of the battleaxe tore a chunk off her health bar, slowly replaced by the health potion and battle healing that were used following the devestating attack of the bandit. Nymoria knew, without a doubt, that she would soon be in trouble if she wasn't able to strike back at the bandit. She considered, for a brief second, taking the moment to at least lash out with a small attack - if only to do something. Wisdom won out, however, as she downed another of the potions in a desperate attempt to remain alive. All I need is one single miss, and then I can go on the offensive. If he can just miss once...that's all I need. The thought was faint, but it gave her the directive she needed in order to prepare. The axe continued to soar through the air towards her, and while her movements had kept it from causing a life-ending strike, she was just barely dancing around the dangers that it presented. She could feel her heart in her chest, beating in response to the adrenaline coursing through her system as she tried to figure out a way out of the situation. Nymoria 0 Posted August 1 Author #14 Share Posted August 1 She saw her chance as the bandit had reared backwards suddenly, his battleaxe raised high above his head so that it's haft bounced off the ceiling of the tunnel with a dull thunking sound. The bandit glanced upwards at the sound and feel, his eyes torn off his target but the shock of having had his weapon collide with the piece above. Nymoria dashed forwards, her sabre slashing out before the bandit could react in full to her sudden movement. She felt as the blade slashed along the side of the man, an odd resistance as it cut through him, before passing and continuing into the open air once more. She moved through and passed right on by, leaving the form standing where it had become frozen in place as she tried once more to put distance between herself and it. She had no illusions about escaping the area, but wanted to at least give herself the time she needed to react once the stun effect had worn off. The thing's health bar had decreased slightly, but Nymoria noticed with a grimace that her own energy stores had once again been depleted. And I'm running out of health potions far faster than I'd like...this isn't going to be fun. Nymoria 0 Posted August 2 Author #15 Share Posted August 2 It didn't matter how much she willed it, Nymoria knew that the stun which held the bandit in place would eventually wear off. Sighing at the realisation, she considered her options. There was very little for her to do now - she could continue trying to hack away at the bandit, and hope that she survived long enough, or she could attempt her chance at fleeing and surviving for another day. Gritting her teeth, Nymoria knew that she was in no position to flee yet - even if there was danger here, she wanted to at least hold out until such time as she could bring the bandit down, little by little. That just means I need to replenish and hold on as best as I can. This isn't going to be fun... Even as she was thinking it, her hand had moved to open her inventory, pulling another of the potions from her quickly dwindling supply. She had no doubts that she would be running out shortly - a fact that she also knew left her in a dire situation. She had no choice, however, other than to keep pressing on in the hopes that the bandit would somehow tire, and give her the opportunity that she needed in order to turn the fight around in her favour. I'm not dead yet, nor am I out of the fight. I just need to...hold on a little bit longer. And hope that they don't land another major hit on me. She could already see the bandit moving, the battle axe coming up and around as it charged outwards in the hopes of overwhelming her once more. Potion in hand, determination at the core of her focus, Nymoria leapt into movement once more, trying to stay just out of reach of the large weapon that hounded her, hoping to tear her into nothing more than a collection of shards that would float to the ground, before disappearing forever. Nymoria 0 Posted August 2 Author #16 Share Posted August 2 Whether the bandit was beginning to tire, or if Nymoria's reinvigorated energy had given her the boost, she wasn't sure. Either way, didn't really matter. She'd managed to dodge the various flurry of blows that the bandit had thrown at her, downing the potion and watching as her health bar had risen ever so slightly in response. It was a sign of her barely holding on - but that barely holding on was far better than she'd been doing moments ago. Her entire body was aching, and yet she found herself more than capable of continuing to move - the hindrances she would've expected from her exhaustion not holding her back in any way whatsoever. This must be the adrenaline boost that everyone talks about. It's...nice, to say the least. I just hope it holds out! She ducked as another wide swing aimed at her head sailed by, the bandit becoming more and more reckless in his attacks as he became frustrated at his lack of success. The sabre in Nymoria's hand felt light and agile as it parried away blow after blow, turning the axe's head downwards or sideways just enough to no longer be a threat to her. All the while she continued moving, her feet carrying her all over the place in a rhythm that the bandit was clearly having trouble keeping up with. If I can just keep him going like this for a few moments longer, I'll be okay...I just need to keep moving, keep out of reach...that's the key. She repeated the mantra in her head, knowing that at some point she would get unlucky. Her eyes flicked around constantly, making sure there was no one else here - eyeing the wall she had come through for the briefest of seconds before dismissing it. There was no way she could fit back through it before the bandit could strike her, and that was a risk she wasn't willing to take currently, anyways. Nymoria 0 Posted August 2 Author #17 Share Posted August 2 The strike caught her in the torso, once again sending her slamming into the wall. She watched as another chunk of her health bar depleted, the green turning to an orangish yellow that caused a small spike of anxiety in Nymoria. She'd finished her last health potion that she had on hand, and she could see that her energy was still far from having recovered. Struggling to her feet, her eyes glanced at the bandit, seeing the blood filled rage in his face. She felt exhausted, far more than she had ever felt before. There was no doubt in her now, if she stayed here the fight would end in only one possible way. I gave it all I had, but it wasn't enough. This time. I'll be back...but for now I need to get out of here. Better to retreat and live another day, than to die here through stubbornness... She wanted to swear and scream, to cry and hit things. She thought she had come so far, she thought she had grown so much from the weak player she had once been. This had been a reminder to her of just how weak she still was, just how far behind everyone else she sat. Turning away from the bandit, she pushed her legs into motion, trying to race down the hallway and put some distance between her and him. She had no idea what might lie ahead, but she knew that it was at least away from the danger she faced right now. Get out, and away. Figure it all out once we've done that. I still have a crystal if I need it. For now, run. Don't think. Just run. The sabre in her hand was a stark reminder of everything going on, even as she pumped her arms and legs in her attempt to put more and more distance between herself and the bandit. Nymoria 0 Posted August 2 Author #18 Share Posted August 2 The axe's blade slammed into the wall next to Nymoria, sending her tumbling even as it missed her form. She could feel her legs give out beneath her, the knees of her pants getting torn slightly as she collided with the ground before rolling to her feet once more. She knew she was too tired to keep running, and the bandit clearly had no issue keeping up with her - a fact that was obvious from the few steps she had managed to make it away from their original place of conflict. Growling to herself, she pulled open her inventory and grabbed another potion that was waiting - her last one, she noted - before swinging back into motion. Her movements were slow and cumbersome, like she was trying to swim through some sort of heavy gel substance. She had no doubts that, unless the bandit was also feeling the strain of the extended combat, she would be at a severe disadvantage. Still, she had no desire to give up yet, and continued looking for an opening - either to escape, or to strike back at the bandit. Her eyes shifted constantly around, glancing at her health bar, energy bar and the surrounding area. Just need...one small...opening...that's it... Even her thoughts somehow felt tired to her, as if all her energy had been exhausted on this one small fight. She felt entirely drained, as if any reserves she had were already being emptied even as she continued her tiresome dance in an attempt to just stay alive. Just...another second...and I can...hit him... Nymoria 0 Posted August 2 Author #19 Share Posted August 2 The bandit stumbled, it's feet seemingly giving out beneath it as it tried to slash outwards in a wide stroke with it's axe again. Nymoria watched as it slammed into the ground, not quite falling on it's face, but stumbling enough that she knew she had the advantage, if only for a brief few seconds as it tried to recover. There was no hesitation in her, and although her body shook with the exhaustion that she had put it through, she moved with a quickness that spoke to her fighting capability, the sabre coming up in a strong swipe as she stepped in closer to the bandit's form. It seemed to realise what was about to occur, the head pulling backwards as it tried to avoid the sword art that was aimed at it's chest. It was a desperate attempt, and Nymoria's blade tore through it's chest and shoulder before leaving the form to shatter into the various shards that made up it's digital collective. The moment it had disappeared, Nymoria had spun on the spot, her eyes glancing over the entire area as she tried to view every possible corner in a desperate attempt to see if any further threats existed. Alone. She almost collapsed onto the floor as soon as she realised it. For the time being, at least, she was alone. No further threats appeared from the walls, nor around any corners. She sighed heavily as she considered the entire fight she had just lived through. It had been, by and far, one of her hardest experiences yet. She was happy that she had come through it so easily, so far. Easily? Really? That was...I'm lucky to be alive... Nymoria 0 Posted August 2 Author #20 Share Posted August 2 She considered her options, her eyes glancing about as she took a few moments to rest. She had no doubts that she was exhausted beyond belief, and that she was still in danger of running into more of the bandits. The information she'd been given suggested there were at least five more, and while Nymoria had managed to hold her own against these two, she wondered how she would fair against even more dangerous, even more deadly groups of them. It would be dangerous, to say the least. I barely came out of this alive, and that was just against two of them. Imagine if I happened to run into all five at once? I wouldn't stand a chance of even running away. Maybe I really should reconsider whether I should complete this quest now, or come back later. She didn't like the idea of running away. Giving up meant that she was weak, unready to face the dangers of the world entirely. But she also knew there was a severe danger in continuing forward, pressing into areas that she had yet to even begin to trial herself against. Her skills were no match for large groups - not yet. Although she had grown stronger, her continued breathing having proven that in the moment, she knew that she was still outmatched by the quest that she had accepted. She wanted nothing more than to simply give up, head back to her inn, wait it out... But then how could I possibly hope to join those who are clearing the higher floors? I may not be the strongest, most capable fighter, but...I can at least do something, right? There must be some sort of assistance I can give...some sort of help. I can't just be entirely useless...but in order to do that, I need to prove myself. I need to complete this...push forward. I just have to be...smart.
