Picking up a piece of chalk, Katoka stared at the item in her hand as the party entered the maze. She had heard rumors of the gargantuan structure, but had never stepped foot into it herself. She drew various shapes on the walls as they walked, making sure to slightly pay attention to the direction they were walking. As the group seemed to get closer to their destination, the blonde began to notice an increasing number of spiderwebs. "Hey uh, guys? What is this boss again?"

It didn't take long before it came into view, a monstrosity of a spider resting on a geometrically beautiful web. Kat wasn't afraid of spiders or bugs, but this thing made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. She watched as Freyd and Mac rushed in, both managing to get tangled in one way or another with the spider's silk. Taking a moment to collect herself, the samurai rushed in next, drawing her blade and skipping over each strand of web as she went.

Feeling pretty proud of herself for missing all the rope like strands, Kat smiled just before she caught her toe on a particularly large cluster of webs. She managed to course correct herself, turning her momentum into a spin just as the Maze Weaver dropped down near her. Bringing her blade around with her she struck the leg of the large spider with the glowing blue light of her sword art, sending the sound of the strike echoing off the stone walls around them.

"Batter up!" she called before ducking under the arachnid and attempting to get out of it's way.

'go all out' was a viable strategy. night could work with that.

she lagged behind the group on purpose. mostly about the fact that the twenty-fifth itself was full of creepy crawlies that night wasn't keen on encountering... even if their next mark was going to be one of them. her blade had been at the ready within the time mac cut through the air and sailed down onto the arachnid, and her steps themselves had been full of hesitation, between kat diving in afterwards, and the fact that there was a giant spider ahead to contend with.

maybe she shouldn't have attended after all. with a snarl, she chased katoka's route through the webs, weaving past silk and charging through what obstacles had been left behind. the light of her sword wasn't the most helpful – it told her more about the spider than she ever wanted to know. with a cut and a dash away, night had her gaze turned behind her as she retreated. getting stuck in webs? no thanks. that didn't sound like fun.

A swift exchange of heavy blows would dwindle down the arachnid’s health as every fighter got their shot at the big weaver. Despite the others’ distaste for the spider-theme, they got strong hits on the Maze Weaver, dealing a good chunk of damage and getting closer to victory. Macradon would ready his sword and went in for another attack, trying to get some more damage in albeit not that much, as his last hit with Charge and all still only did a small sliver compared to the rest. With another cleave at the ready, Macradon leaped through the air, but somehow got super extra tangled in all the silky web “Fuck!” he exclaimed as he tried to free himself but was unfortunately stuck dangling from the cave ceiling like captured spider prey. He tried his best to wiggle himself out of the mess, but it didn’t seem like it was making a difference to his situation.

As the others went to town on the frenzied arachnid, Freyd was holding his own contest with the webbing he'd stumbled over at the outset.  First it clung to his leg.  Then the adhesive filament bound itself to his fingertips as he struggled to remove it.  Within seconds, he'd managed to bind himself up in it from head to toe, wondering how he'd quite managed it.

"Oh, for... I couldn't have done this if I actually tried," he cursed, only somehow making it worse.  "Uh.  Be right there, gang.  You're doing great!  Keep at...*ptoo-ey*... at it.  I'll be right there.  Any second now..."  

FUCK!

A tiny four-footed figure moved into his line of sight and started lapping at loose strands, somehow immune to their binding properties.  But eyes, pupils slotted properly if the head bearing them wasn't also turned ninety degrees, looked at him with mischievous incredulity before starting to play.  Pouncing and batting at him, Persi was having a ball.

"Dangit, Persi. This is not yarn.  Now get me outta here!"

Had they not been in a battle against an enormous spider, Kat would have laughed at both Freyd and Mac getting tangled in the various webs that surrounded them. She would have time to poke fun at them later. Positioning herself a good distance from her prey, the samurai took a deep breath and steadied her nerves. Deep inside she felt the flicker of something that hungered once again, the embers flaring to life in search of fuel to feed it.

Adjusting the grip on her katana, Kat leapt into action, stepping and twirling between strands of silk in almost dance like fashion. Her blade began to glow, letting of a whine as she readied her attack. Electicity began to spark around her, tendrils of what looked like black energy snapping like whips from her body. The spider seemed as though it didn't know what to do, standing almost motionless until the blonde got close enough to swing her weapon. Lifting one of it's giant legs just in time caused her to almost loose her balance, thankfully her attack managed to connect. The arachnid shaking violently as it was electrocuted from inside its carapace.

Once the boss regained its composure it seemed to glow slightly, its looking as though it had been buffed to a fine sheen. "Hey uhh, I didn't just buff the boss did I?"

hadn't even noticed half of the group getting twisted up in white chains. night knew that if she'd taken her eyes off the monster for a single second, she would've lost sight of it, and then she'd have to play the game of 'does it still exist? well i can't see it so surely not, right?' even though she knew it was still alive and kicking. what time she did spare was on making sure she wouldn't trip on the webs thrown at their feet, so she continued her rush down, lunging only at the boss with a leap once she was certain her environment was clear, striking directly at its torso, the only place on the boss where its legs weren't.

she bounced away, thankfully onto clear ground, before staying a distance away from the walls. was it frenzied, now? it seemed to move way slower than she remembered.

The living pinata that was Macradon dangled from the ceiling with his legs tangled in web. He struggled for a bit before cutting himself loose and began his descent. A quick glance would instantly give him the battle overview he needed and within no time at all the knight resumed his mission. His combat instincts were waking up again, his spatial awareness kicked in, he was fully locked in on the arachnid as he got into a stance mid fall and executed a sword art. His blade was engulfed in orange light that went brighter and brighter until a white light illuminated the webbed arena.

His momentum as well as the sword art assistance made Macradon a living projectile, in an instant he was back down, besides his party members, as his blade cleaved deep into the Maze Weaver like a hot knife through butter, fully ignoring most of its defences despite its sudden recent hardening. His blade slid through like nothing, deleting the digital space it travelled through leaving only a visual blur behind it.

Cracks below the arachnid erupted as Macradon landed with his blade, shattering through its health bar with a huge sudden dip, depleting it of any hope of surviving the last barrage of his teammates. While still recovering from the rough landing Macradon roared out “We’ve got it where we want it! Let’s finish this!”

"Finish it?!"  Freyd cackled a little too unnervingly, but mostly meant to mock his own sheer bad fortune.  "I'm still looking forward to starting it."  Persi was no help, lapping at the strands still holding him tight, playfully nipping at frayed bits of webbing in a way a cat might bat at bare bits of string on a ball.  Not helpful.  At all.  

Grumbling to himself, Freyd rolled himself unceremoniously to the edge of the corridor, where the high maze walls met cold, broken flagstone floor.  It was that latter part that inspired a solution.  The pincers on the weavers claws were sharp enough to pierce even stone, and had transformed the surface of the walls into pock-marked and pitted caricatures of their peers.  Debris from its wanderings had fallen loose and remained on the ground.  At least one had to have a decently sharp edge to suffice, right?

By the time Freyd regained his footing, ready to properly enter melee, the fight was all but done, though he was pleased to see how well his companions had managed to corral and defeat the dangerous creature.  Pride bruised, but intact, he'd wait to see whether they were still up to return and fight Ugzeke once more, or call it a day.

"Sorry, everyone.  Got a little tied up, but looks like you all had this well in hand.  Looks like our time may be running short.  Do we still want to try to race back to Kalanaes, or shall we call it here?"

Watching Macrodon deal a devastating blow to the arachnid caused Katoka to grin. She was beginning to wonder if it was going to just be the ladies on the party that put the work in this time around. The samurai raced through the battlefield, now that she was used to the habits of their foe and the placement of its webs she had improved her reaction speed greatly. Seeing Freyd having so much trouble the blonde raced passed him, making sure he could see her.

"Come on now shadow boy, put your back into it!" she called playfully as her blade gave off a bright light. Turning her attention back to the matter at hand, Kat crouched down into a slide underneath the great spider, dealing a massive pinpoint blow to it's underside. Had the boss been a real creature a shower of ichor would have rained down upon her, but luckily that was not the case. Instead the thing shattered into thousands of shards of light, leaving the group to stand in a web filled room by themselves.
