[F5-PP] A new me! (The Traveler)

Flipping through the books on the large guild hall table. It had been something that she hadn't done in a while. Been awol from her team and her friends for a long time. These past few days have been a breath of fresh air, and Sam intended to keep it up. The years that she had know Lium had been great but she had been keeping her distance. Mainly because she didn't know if friend status was an option for her with him. Lium had been doing his own thing, letting Sam figure out her shit which was nice, but now she didn't need space, she needed her friends back. Stopping at a page from a notebook full of quests, this was the one. The traveling through the desert part sounded unpleasant but whatever. Quickly gathering her things, opening her HUD and sending a quick message to Lium. Hopefully he wasn't to mad for needing so much space. Walking out of the Firm Anima building, making her way to the warp gate.

Picking up crates and moving them. Thinks have been very busy and the ship was starting to get messy. It was almost like no one knew how to clean up after themselves. Walking down into the under belly of the craft, it was sorta dark, that was nothing new. Finding a barrel labeled food... that was new. "Does nobody know where shit goes around here..." Lium calls out to the other mates that were somewhere on the deck. Picking it up, it was heavier than it should be... It began to move in his hands, "What the hell," dropping the large wooden container now. It crashes to the ground and breaks into shards, in its place was a Nobody trying to collect the apple that were rolling away from him sitting on his ass. With a mouth full saying "You called?" Lium has two fingers at the bridge of his nose rubbing. Right then his HUD chimes, glancing at the message. A smirk peers on the mans face. "Yea guess you have to clean this up..." saying as he starts walking up the stairs. "But wait you broke it..." "AND" Lium replies as he was already on the upper docks climbing down the latter the aid Sam. It was a bit surprising though to here from the girl. He'd take it though.

Arriving at floor 5, it had been a while since she was down here. Sam knew that Lium couldn't come into the towns so she would make this talking quick and meet him outside the gates. Actively looking for the man she was suppose to speak with was a no go... Where the heck was this person. Deciding to start heading for the gates, just about to walk out, "Excuse me miss..." Sam turns swiftly to see a man in robes. "Jeeze you scared the crap out of me..." realizing that she hand one hand on her bow, the man steps a few paces back from her. "No I am sorry, you must be Zamek. I'm here to help you through the storm." The man begins to hack violently for a few moments before breathing heavily. Clearing his throat... "I have some burrowed treasures on the other side of that said storm. I can't provide much if you help. I can assure you though that it is extremely important that I get to this, my life might surely depend on it." It was clear that this man was ill, maybe that content was medicine. It would make the most since to her, "I have every intention to help without cost. It what our guild was made for. Please lead the way. Also there is another man that will be joining us. Don't be alarmed about the tag over his head." They walk out the gate together, Sam was unsure if the old man would even notice the icon over Liums head. They were an NPC but there had been talk that the computer's of Aincrad were acting differently. This would determine just that, if there is even a notion of the man in robes glancing up further that Liums head then it was the slightest amount of proof that the rumors were in fact true.

Seeing the man in a pirate suit always got Sam smiling. How could anyone be so comfortable wearing something like that. Approaching, "Hey loser, how's your ship days been treating you?" Glancing to the old man, he looks up and back slightly away... Interesting...

Leaning against a boulder that liters the sands, a piece of tumble weed held lightly in his mouth. Seeing the small group come into view, smiles but then sees that man in robes look and him an back away behind Sam... Raising a brow... Very odd. Never had a quest NPC do that before. "It's going okay. Mass amount of mess around the docks, its a bit unworldly how much I have to clean up after the mooks." A chime to the HUD as Sam sends him a party invite and a quest suggestion. Accepting both, glancing to the details. "Zamek, is it?" Seeing the man pull his hood down further. Crazy to think about. If the old hoot was scared of him, what else was of importance to take notes about. Was it just him or was there others. Did they have different dialoged from their game script? Curious... very curious...

Leaving the old man be for now, Lium wanted to see how he reacted to being around him. "Lets head out, there is a lot of ground to cover and the sun is already setting."

The others follow suit, the sun began to set, the air starting to become musky, he could hear the man behind him hacking. Moving slower than usual cause it was the pace of Zamek, which was fine, it would just give the opportunity for Lium to have a conversation the Sam.

The group walk for a while toward the destination. It was now dark and the Sandstorm was making it a bit harder to see ahead. Thinking about the epiphany that she had the other day while fighting those shadows in the mist. Glancing back at the old man, he was keeping pace only cause they were walking slower but that was fine. Eyes meet Liums who was staring... chest begins to harden. "I am sorry that I have gave you such a hard time since you found me..." Pausing for a moment, she had always had feeling for Lium, it just wasn't as clear as before. With Kat being in the picture when her arrived, it was hard to keep him close without giving him the wrong idea. To be honest though she though Lium was dead, so those specific feelings sort fell into the abyss for a long while. "I guess it was easier to be mad at you and push you away then it was to..." she didn't want to say it. Kat was still the love of her life, and god knows she fucked that up royally. Pulling her jacket tighter to her frame. Not sure what she really wanted right now but she was sure that she didn't want Lium to hate her for everything that she did to him.

Eyes stay locked on her even when hers leaves his gaze. Taking off his had and letting it vanish into his inventory. It was clearly hard for her to talk to him. What happened... They use to be able to talk and joke with no real effort. Now it was harder than ever. When he escaped that cavern, all he could think about was getting back to Sam, finding his Rose again. Didn't even know if she was still alive only that he couldn't give up trying to find her. When she was finally found, he realized that she was with another of the opposite sex none the less, not realizing how serious it was but knew that he couldn't hold what he felt for her any longer. That might of been a mistake cause now, it seems as though it ruined their friendship which was the one thing that he worried about. The though of finding Samantha was what kept him going in that entrapment. It was what made him not change sides. The best thing now was just to be there for her. Lium didn't want to fuck it up any worse than it was. "I forgive you Sammy, your fine..." he had a million and one things that he wanted to say to her but he kept is thoughts to himself...

Confused at how easy he just gave her his forgiveness... "No, no it's not just fine. I hurt you and just made you feel like shit and all you can say is it's fine???" The tears began to fall, it was cold against her cheeks cause the wind was blowing directly on her face. "We have been friends for dam near half my life and I treated you like you were just another random dude... I treated you like shit..." Sniffle as she walks it front of Lium now, walking backwards now. "Be mad, yell do something, I deserve every ounce of it please... Don't hold it in for my sake..." letting those tears fall only because it was something that needed to be done. She cries when she let Kat's and her relationship fail... This was no different... Suddenly her the back of her foot finds something hard, and she finds herself falling...

Right then Sammy begins to fall back toward the ground, Lium very quickly shifts her feet and catches her, more or let it a way of when you would dip a female while you danced. With the other hand, he lightly wipes the tear from her cheek. Sam's face turns cherry red, could be seen even in the darkness. Gazing into her eyes for only a moment before pulling her up to her feet. Still holding her in a half hug, "I could never be mad at you Sam," thinking very carefully on what he was to say next. "Yes, you tore my heart heart form the roots that held it, but being mad... Never." Kissing her on the forehead lightly before releasing her. After all this time, being mad was a useless feeling unless it was rendered to be aimed toward success, like those people that held him captive. Spending those few years alone in a prison cell, it gave him a lot of time to think. If Lium had even an inkling that confessing his love to her would have hurt her, he would of stayed quiet. "I will be whatever you need me to be Sammy." Lium would continue walking, glancing back to make sure old dude was still behind them, he was...

Sam didn't get it... He was madly in love with her then he just left after I told him no and then he found refuge on a ship of all places... It's like he got a whole new identity... OH AND he became orange and he hasn't got through the steps to turn back. Watching him slowly walk forward, "Do you still love me..." she was so confused on so many different levels. Mixed feeling coming from the man, weird to think that she even cared about this but she needed to know where they stood. Sam needed to know that they were still something, friends or more... she would deal with the more if it came time to that but the friendship was the most important part. Needing to know that she hadn't lost the one person in her entire life that saw her beside Kat for who she really was. "Please, I just... Please..." Maybe it was that she felt lonely, doing all those solo missions with no one to speak to but her own head.

That would make Lium stop only for a brief moment. Head twists slightly to look over his shoulder toward her. Sighing, he did want to talk but this... this was all a lot. It almost seemed like Sam was desperate to get answers that she was not ready to hear. Lat wind smacked harshly against the side of his face before turning back and beginning to walk again. Hear light foot falls behind him, gave him the inclining that they were still following him. Good... Of course he still loved her, why would she suggest anything else. 

Lium says nothing for a while while they trended through the storm, letting Sam soak in that question that she asked. He could only imagine what her mind was doing right now, by not answering her question did she think that he didn't care... After all this time... Was she really that rash in thinking that Lium would think any other way about her. Thinking it was about time for her to get the truth, his side of the story...

"When I first met you, you were brash, hard to work with and demanding, but you knew exactly what you wanted. Playing all those games, your voice, the first I heard when I woke up and the last before heading to bed. It's what made me want to get up every morning. When I heard about SAO, I knew that I just had to get it, I would have bought it for you if you didn't already have it in your wish list. I thought that it would allow me to finally put a face to that angelic voice." He knew that he was speaking a bit loud but he need to make sure that she could hear him over the storm. Pausing for a moment though, allowing it to sink in...

Lium just starting walking away, what did that mean. He didn't answer her question, just started to walk away... Tears drip down her cheeks, it was colder that it should because of the wind harshly smacking again her face. Did he not love her anymore. Did she completely ruin it... Pulling that long sleeved robe tighter against her frame. Sam wanted to know how he really felt and if this told her anything, it was that he didn't want anything to do with her any more. She was in the process of moving on with Kat, this was going to be a lot harder...

And then he started speaking...

Sam's heart sunk to a whole new level... This whole time... This was the first she was hearing any of this from the man... It was sorta hard to hear, cause that meant that she fucked up real bad... Not sure what to say right now, everything that she was thinking just left that brain of hers and she just wanted to listen.

Sniffling from behind him, good it meant that she was listening. "I am sure that you heard what our friends were saying about you, that you were way to bossy, that they didn't want you to be on our team anymore," turning slightly back to see Sam's head nodding to the comment. "Yea, well I told them no man or woman left behind and without you nothing would get done. I knew that and they knew that which is why they stop harassing you about your arrogance." Head shift back to see the path before them, "Truth is, if they didn't agree to keep you in the group I would have left with you." Pushing his hair out from his face, he knew there was a reason he wore a hat.

Letting that sink in for a moment before continuing, "When we all agreed that SAO was going to be a blast, decided to leave and come back to the game we were currently playing after we beat SAO, I put that Nerve Gear on and looked for you right away. Then it got so crowed so fast and it was hard to see anyone that was recognizable through the huge group. I stayed in that beginning city, the others found me as it started to clear but you were still no where to be found." Sam already knew this but she didn't hear it all because there was no time in between her yelling at him...

Listening to his words, she did hear them arguing a lot about her specifically. She wasn't going to change how she did things just because they wanted her too. What she didn't realize though is that they didn't want her in the group. It might of crossed her mind but she really didn't care. They were unmotivated and lazy, wanted to do side quests that didn't matter or wanted to get this thing because it looked cool. It was completely pointless in Sam's mind so she never allowed them to do it. Never allowed them to have fun... Thinking of every game as a thing to just get done. 100% it, doing those tiny side quests at the end when it mattered to most for full completion.

Sam did spend that first year or so wondering the town of beginnings, but she never saw Lium there... Maybe it was because they didn't know what the other looked like or they were just never in the same place at the same time... She knew that Lium said that he looked for her but it never fully clicked until just now. Remembering being so mad at him for not finding her. How lonely she felt, not doing anything for so long because her best friend wasn't there to keep her company. Sam could remember a time that she went forward without him in a game... Weird that everything was becoming more clear, walking and talking about it... Sam kept her mouth shut, feeling like there was more that he wanted to say...

Glancing back to make sure the old man was still following, he was slowly. Eyes lock on Sam, her head was down walking side by side with the old guy. Looking back ahead of them as he continued, "I waited every night out by the fountain to see if you would just randomly appear, but you didn't. After a month, our other people started to get restless and wanted to start prolonging our training sessions through the night so they could get stronger. With regret I agreed and that was the night that everything fell apart." Glancing back for only a moment, the wind harsher than ever. They further they walked, the harder it became to sift through the storm but he kept walking.

"We were out in the middle off the fields, killing boars and that is when we were approached by these players. At first, I though nothing of it but then they stabbed one of our friends. I got grabbed and punched the dude in the face, tried to help the others but I got grabbed again. Got kneed in the stomach, grabbed his leg and made him flip and elbowed the one grappling me in the chest. Next thing I knew everyone was gone... Dead..." Eyes followed to the girl who now had horror painted against those eyes of hers. Lium continued trekking through the storm, letting that sink in for a moment.

"I was working at the Inn right there by the fountain so that I had a place to sleep..." It was so unreal to think that he was right outside that door that whole time. Not once did she think to walk outside at night, there she was thinking that he just gave up looking for her so she was trying her damnedest to just make due. He never walked into that Inn either, that to her meant that he was sleeping outside with the others. He got severally outnumbered, and got snatched up. Sam remembered that from when he told her. All that time, Sam hated him, forgot about him and never gave him the benefit of the doubt. Thought nothing could happen to make that timing not add up. It never occurred to Sam that something could of happened to Lium so instead of missing him, she hated him... it was easier than worrying. Squinting, as sand flew into her eyes at mock speeds. She would need to take a shower after this...

"Go fucking figure, so close yet so far away..." replying to what Sam had said. Turning to Sam now, realizing that there was more foot fall near by then just them. It was very faint, but it was so close, Lium raises a hand up toward his group as to stop for a moment. Liums eyes shift through the storm, slowly to find who else was here. In the small distance ahead of them there was a group of people who seemed to be pulling there weapons out. "Stay here..." saying in a stern voice before walking forward with his hands up. "Can I help you with something, we really don't want any trouble here and I will be more than happy to let you just walk away." He sees one of them walking forward toward him, a sword draw already as he seemed to want a fight. "Fine, if that is how it's going to be, don't say I didn't warn you." Lium pulls up his sleeves with a sigh.

Watching Lium walk forward, it looked like they were just talking, then Lium starts to roll up his sleeves... He gets decked in the side of the head by one of them. Sam sees Lium grab him by the scruff of his neck and punch the dude and throw him away from him. Grabbing another by the back of the neck and forcing it down as his knee comes up and bashes him in the face, tossing him aside too. One tries to grip Lium from behind and Lium elbows him in the stomach before quickly turning with a round house kick to the side of their head. The three on the ground are frantically crawling away, gets up and sprints away, as Lium fakes another punch toward the remaining man, they turn and start booking ass the other way. Sam's hands are covering her mouth, not sure if she was scared or in shock, that or amused but Lium came to join the group again.

"Sorry they didn't want what I offered..." glancing to the old man who was walking back just a bit. "Dude, I stole a ship. I haven't killed no one. You have my word that your safe with me." He stops walking back, begins the laugh before starting to hack up a storm. "Sorry..." the man says when he got a chance to breathe again... "No beef, anyway." Looking to Sam as he pulls his sleeve back down. It was a bit too cold for that. They begin to walk again but this time all of them together, side by side. "I was missing for over 2 years and when I finally escaped and found you, Kat was already in your life. At that time it didn't seem like you wanted me there so I confessed and let you have your space." Pulling Sam into a half hug, it was the least he could do. There was no speaking for a while after that, the man pointed out the direction they needed to head and they started moving faster only a bit though.

"You asked me if I still loved you, yes... That is a stupid question though coming from you," He could feel Sam start to pull away to maybe argue but he kept her close. "What I want doesn't matter Sammy. You were just almost married and when you and Kat broke up it dam near killed you." Hearing sniffles again, he give a small sigh. "I will always be here when you need me but you need to take a break. I refuse to be your rebound..." Kissing the top of her head, they were damn near the same height... "Later down the line if you feel like you still want to be with me then we will try, but you have to mourn your first true love first." Letting that all sink in... they were close to the old mans treasure...

Stay quiet, listening. Nothing that Sam thought was his fault actually wasn't... Now Sam just felt stupid that she spent all that time hating him when she could of just missed him. He was right though, if they went right into it, it would just seem like Lium was a rebound and she really didn't want that. Katoka was her first love and if there was one thing that she learned from that, it was to not strangle the ones your love. It will end catastrophically bad... Missing Katoka was always on her mid right now and she felt bad what she told her about the not being friends part. After all that time with her, and just cold turkey like that... it was a real dick move. Wondering if Kat would ever consider being her friend... They moved too fast and that is what blew everything up. That and not knowing what true love actually was or even how to handle things when they got bad. Trusting the other and supporting their wishes... Kat and her had that problem, the woman wanted to get stronger and feel like she was worth, wanted to help get people in this game back to the real world, Sam was just holding her back. That would be another conversation for another time, for now all Sam could say was, "Okay..."

[Lium 1]

"Okay," repeating back to her. Maybe he finally got through to her... maybe. only time would really tell. There was a cave entrance up ahead, the old man starts to walk forward into that said cave. Getting to his knees and begins to dig with his hands. A small chest is lifted toward to two. Entering the cave, they were no longer getting pelted with tiny tan shards, "Thank you both, as promised..." Opening the chest and lifting up a little tan light. It was almost like a small fire being held in the hand. Lium would take it first and it vanishes in his hands. Lium glows for a moment before Sam does the same. 

The old man starts walking back, he decided that he no longer needed company seeing that the only issue that he would have encountered was gone, he said it would be fine. Sam and Lium decide to sit against a boulder that was near where they stood. They talked for a while before Sam fianly past out, head laying on a leg. Lium would keep watch, staring at the midnight sky, through the storm that seemed like it was dying down ever so slightly, wondering if there was another life out there after death... Would they just be gone if they fell in the game or if they would go to a peaceful place beyond the stars...
