[F26-PP] Through Hell and High Water (Slime Conundrum)

Using the last bit of juice the woman had on tap, her cleaver flares and sparks in small puffs of blue flame. Even her armiger was struggling with her failing strength. It was all she really had left to give. That flame trails up her arms and catches on her shoulders, as if she was burning up all she had left to give. Her arm twists and she releases the handle, sending the cleaver whirling through the air like a giant throwing star. Each rotation screams out in audible *rff rrff* until it slams into the target. Her hand rips out in front of her and space seems to fold between its location and her, drawing this thin blue lines to the point of impact. Celeste's hands tighten down and those flames explode out from her as she screams "FUCKING DIE ALREADY!". She vanishes beneath the sudden cataclysm and with it so does her target. The swirling fire paints her as a faint silhouette in the blast, and once it clears the smoke trails off her shoulders. Tapped out once again, she falls to one knee and uses her left hand to brace herself.

Gelatinous Form: Every time the boss’ health reaches 0, two more Kings will spawn, using the next lowest HP available. If a Slime King with the lowest amount of max HP possible dies, he will not spawn any more.

Standard Recovery +4 EN, 227980 | Recovery CD: 12 (+8 EN), Concentration CD {3/5}, Howl Refreshed

Celeste detonating like a hand grenade completely erases one entity and plasters its carcass on every available surface, which lasts for all about 10 seconds until it starts to congeal up into smaller entities. It seems whatever effect had been amplifying the Slime King up to this point was still holding fast. It was clear they had to control themselves and fight this uphill battle, yet none of his party could actually last for a battle that long. Memories of his own resurface, that test of endurance that was Forgotten Time King. Raidou rushes in and attempts to draw their attention, providing a simple swing toward the only target to which he didn't have its attention. It reacts at a breakneck speed, one that it clearly should not own. A curious reaction that causes Raidou to redirect and block the counter attack. Something was clearly off. Its patterns, its strength and its durability.

*Optimal turn order change

Well they were managing, which despite there issues it seemed as though their resolve was to continue. Morrighan approved but not audibly. Since they now understood the gravity of the landmine they had stepped on, she was now free to continue her own reason for being down here. Despite the interruption that she was trying to deter. To the pile on her right, she begins to rake her foot through it once again and each piece she shuffles is grabbed by the wind and sucked away. Her hair still aloft and flapping around angrily. Eventually she'd spot her inquiry, such was the way of impartial guidance. It was hardly a direct science or a direct answer but more of a vague direction and retelling of a possibility. It was clear that this spot was clearly not the source of her investment, and with that ideal it was likely that all this interference was offering no aid to her efforts.

Standard Recovery +4 EN, Hyperactive +3 EN, Hyperactive Fades

The smoke still billowing off her shoulders, the woman refused to give in or back down. After all that was the whole point of Freyd's lesson a long time ago. Pushing off the ground with a heavy shove, she manages back to her feet and manages to get another sword art to lit up. A clench of her teeth as the weapon ripped her around with her fervor and she dumps that massive steel right through the target closest to her. The thing is bisected as that heavy section of metal carves right through its lime green body like butter, only finding any real resistance once it collides with the floor beneath it. As it does another explosion of power as the energy of the fates trapped within it explode out from it. The armiger taking this translucent and glass like appearance. It appeared to be tinted blue, as she struggled to keep the thing formed. She was clearly running completely out, and her weapon vanishes.

The group seemed to be holding out, and the amount of the slime king that was left was starting to dwindle. It wasn't exactly the most ideal situation sure, but the group despite having to fight up the metaphorical hill was actually making ground. The gale held fast against the ceiling, upside down as his own skill effects hold him there. As if gravity held no effect on him, and the weapon in his clutches continued to build in potency. Like a fire it continued to grow brighter and glow brighter with every passing second. The question was, how long it would take to fully charge this time. It was difficult getting a major handle on the handle of this polearm. Some times it was ready quickly, and the following explosion wasn't completely ridiculous. And other times he gets the sense he could level a damn small town with one release of what was trapped inside it. His only silent prayer is it wasn't too crazy, because the last thing he wanted was to blow up everything in the room.

Celeste had managed to cut one down, and collapse but given the new distance and the flames Simmone couldn't rush to her aid. However she could reach Kasumi who appeared to be having nearly just as hard of a time. Ushering to the girls side, she kneels down and pulls the clumped up hair from the girls face. "I've got you dear. Your not in this alone." The woman offers some words of encouragement, as she presses her hand into the girls back and offers her left. Helping Kasumi to her feet, she snaps her fingers and gives the girl a bit of her reserves to help her keep amble. "We have this, don't lose faith." Eyes advance to Raidou who was in the middle of a mess. "We cannot give up. He wont." Releasing Kasumi's hand, Simmone rips the rapier down to her left side and starts to rush toward the sounds of combat.

Accepting Simmone's aid, Kasumi manages to her feet as her lungs burned. Her vision a bit weak and blurry, Simmone rakes a porcelain finger across her forehead and shifts her bangs out of her mouth. "Thanks..." She manages out as her breathing starts to stabilize a bit, yet that burning in chest doesn't quite disappear entirely. Kasumi follows Simmone's attention and sees her charge into the fray, and as she does Kasumi's eyes advance to her own stamina bar. Waiting eagerly for the moment she would have enough on tap to do something, anything. It slowly climbs, tick by tick and with it building anticipation. As soon as it reaches a specific point, all of the skills on Kasumi's HUD light up denoting their availability. This causes the girl to rip her hands back, and disappear from view. The gap closes nearly instantly, as she appears on the kings flank and like a whirlwind attacks fly out one after another. A singular flash of pink followed each one as she pops in and out of existence quite readily, repositioning with zero issue and burning the last of the candle she had.

The attentions seemed to be becoming a bit varied and wild, and the wanderer couldn't have them swirling around so randomly. Otherwise it would play poorly and there is a fair chance of these things targeting someone who couldn't quite take the hit like he could. A sudden charge of electricity rips down Ebon Vanguard, to the point of the blade and back. A slide of his feet and a pivot to expose his back to his target. But this a trigger for his art, and as it charges in a vibrant red it sweeps over his head and ends up on the other side of him as he slams it into the floor. This causes the static to discharge in forks of energy that jump between his targets and cut through their frames, drawing their attention which was exactly the motive. This causes a string of attacks to blind into him, and with a determined blade he bounces the attacks one after another as if they were in slow motion.

*Optimal Order Change

What a curious turn of events, it would start to appear that they were actually turning the tide despite any influence. Perhaps she'd underestimated just how strong their resolves truly were, that willpower really proved itself to be an uncountable variable to which even she could not fully fathom. But that shouldn't surprise her given her own history that was still piecing itself back together. But it seemed as though their attentions were still exactly where she needed them to be. On the slime king and not hers. Across the room she saunters to another of the nearby piles, and starts to rake through the thing with her hands. Each piece she casts behind her, and it is sucked into the vortex created by Gaius. This flings it off to some random space but clearly out of the way. Nope it wasn't here either, clearly something was trying to prevent her from finding what she was looking for.

Looking down, Gaius shifts his weight and allows a sharp gust of wind to rush along the floor. A curious thing to which he'd never done before but wondered if it could be used at this distance. It seems to rush and sends a number of nearby debris flying and it wraps around Kasumi for a brief instant. Despite the fact that it was causing her outfit to do some strange things, at least it would provide her some relief at the end of it. With that the grip on his polearm tightens down, and the weapon surges again with all manner of renewed vigor. The thing was clearly on overdrive in a bright star like light, as if he was holding an actual star in his hands. It would seem despite how much was stored in it up to this point, it was still taking every ounce of energy he'd offer it. "This is going to be good, hope your ready for the biggest fucking you've ever experienced!" Gaius barks across the room toward the slime who ignored him completely.

Kasumi seemed to be handling herself fine, and Gaius seemed to offer her some boon despite his distance. Simmone's eyes advance to Celeste who was still completely tapped, but was routed due to the slime king between them. Her only chance of reaching the girl at all would be moving through the target. Her weapon flares in purple, signaling the activation of a sword art as Simmone makes her intentions reality. With a blinding leap, that thin line of light draws through the air. It buys an impact which sees her connect and pierce all the way to the weapons hilt. Her hope is destroying the thing and continuing on, and as she rips the weapon free she snaps her fingers. The metallic sound of cuffs slamming shut, and damage bounces to other targets as she binds their HP together for an instant before the damage completes. Its taken, and she visibly sees their HP bars reduce however they seem to have much more then she believed they did.

Standard Recovery +4 EN

That gust of wind from Gaius gives her bar just the smallest of surges, allowing her to keep on her feet. However she does need to adjust and prevent the cold from scratching areas where it shouldn't and maintain her modesty. A twist sees her holding pieces down as her hair flails around angrily. It doesn't last for too long, and eventually she is free to adjust her outfit and fix her hair. Raking a clawed hand through her side burn like strands she looks to Gaius who offers a smile and a sharp thumbs up before jerking his attention back to their foe. Kasumi shares the change in focus, and with it her hands begin to burn bright once again, she was back in the fray and had just a bit more to give. Although this would be nightmarish in isolation, they were clearly not in this mess alone.

Standard Recovery +4 EN

Celeste's tank was completely spent, and based on her positioning she only manages to catch a glimpse of Simmone rushing to her aid. But its faint and fuzzy, as her vision kept blurring and going dark. On the verge of falling unconscious she manages to fight her troubled breathing and slaps her face once, enough to give her a single tick of missing HP. With that burn and tingle, she fights the coming tide and starts to push herself up to her feet. Sputtering back into existence the cobalt blue flames start to kindle. Her legs a bit limp yet keep her upright, wiggling a bit in a way that would convey how troublesome it was. The woman uses her cleaver like a crutch, but was at least standing. "This isn't over..." She chokes out in troubled breath, proving ever still her refusal to back down or give up. She'd wear that coming disaster with pride, and go down swinging.

Raidou pays his opposition a rapid redirect, and turns the blade. Slamming it into the appendage made blade sees it shatter and spray across every nearby surface. The weight of Ebon Vanguard proving its use, as the manifested weapon explodes and is removed. He follows up with a quick elbow, and a new one for him: A roundhouse, flaring in a stark blue? He's eyes dart to Kasumi who wears a mixed expression: almost shocked but elated, Adjusting the lenses on his brow he blocks an incoming blow with a shower of sparks that preludes the thunderous boom as sound catches up. A pivot of his sword arm and he lets it glance past over his shoulder and steps around, as a jaded spear moves for his abdomen. A flick of the wrist and Raidou sweeps his left arm over the top and around the bottom of the made polearm, turning with his target and using it to block another attack. Where past meets present...

Coming up with a singular black feather, she hold it aloft. Her inquiry having finally offered her that which what she sought. The smallest of items, and insignificant to most but to her they were very important. A flash of white light sees it vanish away, and she tilts and stands up. Tapping her knees, she checks the pulse of the current group and questions further involvement. After all, they'd lasted this long. Silently each participant measured and analyzed, and she stop on each. Like a gardener those seeds were bearing fruit, and as the proprietor she couldn't help but pay that same coy smile. A reflection of borrowed and an exchange, she knew how to pay an adequate and clever form of encouragement. "Look at that, would you look at that." She goads, pushing the hair off her collarbone and behind her right shoulder. To which individual she was regarding would remain an enigma.

With a sharp form of determination a little alien for her, she can hear voices of the past assault her ears. They brought with them the pangs of pain, as a form of bittersweet encouragement. Her weapon surges in purple and she can feel a singular hand clasp around her left wrist, as the sounds of chains play without a source. Without warning, this strange black tether starts to creep across the floor from nearby hostiles to a point underneath her feet. In almost shock Simmone's eyes immediately seek out Nisa, as if silently pleading for an explanation yet is paid only a single smile.

The sound of a familiar voice murmurs in her ear and those dark lines trail along the floor and at first she tries to back away. Embrace it Mockingbird, taste the power I've given the blonde one. It creeps into her own shadow and the dark energy jumps up in strange coils and seems to adhere itself to the blade in a vortex. Eyes flash yellow and shift back to purple, and Simmone instinctually rushes down her foe. Upon impact, these singular tethers of cyan link her to her opponents. Her own shadow seems to manifest at her back, sporting a female frame and a long black scythe which follows and finishes the blow.

The strangest events and actions, Raidou breaking his silent creed. He was using Mugen Tenshin again, Simmone seemed to harness some strange power. Celeste was somehow preventing passing out. Somehow this felt so odd, as if possibility was changing for each of them. Dropping her distraction, her sights set to an exposed foe and slam hard into the creatures back with ruthless tenacity. Following up Simmone's strike she rockets around and pays each of the bosses who would strike at the black haired woman to buy her some time. A kick here and a punch there, blinks of pink between each. Kasumi fell back into what she knew best, pushing herself well beyond her own limits but through practiced muscle memory. It was as if the system couldn't keep her down, and attacks came out despite any stasis. Standard Recovery +4 EN, 227984 | Recovery No Need

Brionac starts to vibrate violently in Gaius's hands, portraying the trapped energy inside trying to escape. "Here it fucking comes! You all better get the fuck out of there." the dragoon barks out as his party members scatter to every corner of the room and press their backs against the wall. Winding his arm back, the air around him being vaporized and screaming out in agony with each small movement. "This weapon of mine, and the power I have is completely beyond anything you can fucking imagine!" He barks at the slime king trying to egg its attention. "Look at me bitch!" the vocal outburst causing the king to pivot to look up. "Good boy, now kiss your ass goodbye! Stardriver!"

His body shifts as the sleeve on his right arm burns off completely, and like a baseball pitch that javelin exits his grasp. As soon as it is released a subsonic pulse sends a shockwave that shatters the place where Gaius was standing, and space seems to bend as the weapon draws a perfect green line straight through his target. The sound takes a moment, beat by the sheer velocity that thing exerts. The point where it struck detonates sending everything within its radius into the ceiling as the section of the sewer explodes out from the street above, causing stone and droplets of slime to drip down like rain

A solid thud of Gaius, a good portion of his clothes on his right side scorched off and would need repairs showing off his tanned skin.  Flashing a thumbs up toward his face, he'd look toward his party and pop a wide smile and you could swear you'd see a glint. "Got him."

Pushing her feet forward she detaches from the wall and looks up, the entire ceiling of their encounter was gone. It exposes the midday sky and a number of NPC's look down in complete shock, trying to avoid the newly formed crater. Her energy was still not to a level where she should be able to move and yet she seemed to be managing through sheer force of will. As if on autopilot, her eyes glossed over and blank. Bits of stone continue to clatter down and slam into nearly every piece imaginable, even finding puddles to splash into and spray more green gunk around. Her back to the wall, her cleaver still being used as a form of crutch. A singular entity tries to rush her down, and instinct seems to set it ablaze. Some sort of defensive measure still holding strong. The woman wasn't even mentally present and yet her defenses were still somehow up and ready to bite back.

Turning his weapon around as debris continues to rain down, it finds an awaiting sheathe. His eyes scan about the room, and it seemed that the woman they sought was no longer within their eyesight. "She's gone, again." Raidou comments to the team, as Gaius peered down the hole from above. Looking around the area as he starts to get covered in slime, he starts to comb trying to discern exactly why she was here. Given that it seemed nearly impossible to catch her by surprise or keep up with her in general, perhaps they could figure out the motive. During the conflict he did catch her shuffling through these piles, and raking through them he ponders. Was it a consumable? Perhaps she was after the kings core? Yet she left so abruptly that couldn't entirely be it. But if the quest completion wasn't her goal then, this woman was a mystery to which he was coming up empty on her decisions.
