A largely unremarkable smattering of dilapidated structures, at least to those who don't know how it got it start. For the businessman looking for a fresh (and cheap) start, Breath of Life features an ideal selection of meager structures for just such a venture. It's small, quaint, quiet, and a new shop here is all but impossible to overlook. It sees little traffic in the way of NPCs and Players alike, but that's just what Oz likes about it. Far from the prying eyes of those busybodies at Angel's Point, Breath of Life is a perfect locale for both a tavern and whatever secrets it may hold.

Hanging from a post jutting out into the main street, one would find the grungy metal signage which heralds the designation of the hole-in-the-wall tavern; a sickly green in coloration, lettering punched out from its base rather than embossed upon. A lantern with an ornate tin raven affixed atop illuminates the solid oak door which separates the world outside from the one within. Shingles rest upon the roof in an unseemly mosaic as though tossed there haphazardly, threatening to loose from their fixtures and come tumbling down at any moment. Thick, unkempt moss encroaches upon its perimeter, filling the cracks in the cobblestone leading up to the structure. Warm, dim light cascades from its windows, trickling across the aforementioned features in scintillating glimmers of gold.

Inside, one would find themselves greeted with a humble abode, faint candlelight casting gentle luminosity against the various mismatched furniture and wares.  The primary craft of choice here is a beer, which, unbeknownst to the patrons, is crafted using the chaff gleaned from Gaius' crops. While the ale might appear tantalizing to the eye, its taste leaves much to be desired. Though, most have reported that after the first mug or two, the sour flavor begins to grown on you. Harder liquors, those with more oomph and notable effects, take on a more mystical essence, filled with self-luminating liquid which takes on a rainbow of varying hues and opacities. Compared against the ale, these brews appear to hit the mark in terms of quality, being crafted using finer ingredients which Oz collects personally. While he couldn't be bothered to make anything beyond swill for the common rabble, he'd be damned if his spirits didn't boast a uniquely supreme quality.

Though the establishment stands firm as the town's only alehouse, it also serves to facilitate ulterior motives. Taverns are natural rumor mills - hence the name - and the bar serves as a front to Oz's true profession of information brokerage. The small office tucked away in the back houses his various files and collections of information regarding everything he knows about the floating castle Aincrad and its inhabitants. For those who know what questions to ask, and how, Oz is more than willing to deal in more than just shitty beer and exotic spirits.

Shop Rules:
1. Players are encouraged to come take a seat in the Sour Rumor for no other reason than to hang out, grab a beer, and gab. If you have some quick dialogue you would like to hash out between characters, but don't want to make a whole thread to do so, this thread is the spot for you. Players are also permitted to use the Sour Rumor in their own threads if they require a venue for some interaction. The word minimum in shops of 100 words per post still applies within this thread.

2. Please pay in advance for crafts. Payment in Materials is preferred, but not required. If buying from general stock, please designate which IDs you are taking, and please ping the shop owner in the Discord server under the #crafting channel so he can update the stock accordingly. (Handle: _bahr.)

3. Don't trash the place. I will ban you.

Siren walked into the establishment, amazed at the feel of homeliness. She loved the decor and the mismatched furniture reminded her of her college days. She took a seat at the bar. "Hi there sweetheart, I'd like to place an order for some of those fancy lookin' crystals you got there. I'd like 2 of each so I'll wait here and drink a while until they're done." Her voice was smooth and sultry, almost commanding. "While I wait can I get one of your famous beers? Here's my payment for my order in advance." She gave him some col for the beer and materials for the crystals.

Acanthus drifted in from the cold damp of floor thirteen. She hadn’t seen this shop the last time it was here. “Must be new,” she whispered to herself. She pulled up a stool near the bar and pulled her cowl down. She studied the menu with quiet intensity.

“Good evening. I’d like to sample some of your memory-whisking whiskey. I’ve got quite a large order of performance crystals to get out, and I think this could be a big help for me.” After finding the price on the menu, she reaches for a pouch of col. “I’d like five bottles please. I can pay upfront.” She drops the col on the counter. "I see your sign says that you prefer payment in materials." She grimaces slightly. "I apologize, but I'm trying to save them for my own crafting attempts. The next time you're on floor 24, please stop by. I'll set aside a perfect song of your choice as my way of saying thank you."

He'd gone days without a soul entering the tavern, save for that weird kid who wanted the honey mead he didn't even drink. Neither the townsfolk, nor the Players, seemed interested in his little hole-in-the-wall tavern. Then, all at once, people started flooding in.

And they were broads!

The first was a particularly sultry siren - whose named turned out to actually be Siren - who drowned Oz in a heavenly southern accent that carried him places no ale ever could. She selected a few of his in-stock items, ordered a couple more, and Oz's hands started moving to whip the concoctions together faster than his lips. "For one as fine as you, anything. Appreciate the tip, too."

While he was busy, another woman walked in and took a seat. Seemingly more reserved than the first, this one wasn't here to put her sexuality on display. Oz found her cute, but could respect a woman choosing to be a bit more conservative in that way, so decided not to let his eyes linger like they had on Siren. She selected a few bottles of his finest whiskey and paid in cash, so Oz was quick to slide them along the bar-top her way.

"There'll be more where that came from, pumpkin. Come on back when you run out."

Soon thereafter, he finished with the Crystals Siren had ordered, placing them and the two from his stock on the counter in front of her. "And you, I'd die to see more of. Don't be a stranger."

Wasn't until after he put her crafts on the table that he realized he'd been too distracted to get her a beer. "Ah shit, that's right." He hastily grabbed a mug and filled it with the swill, a frothy head culminating at the top which poured ever so subtly over the sides as he plopped the vessel onto the counter. He looked around for a moment, finally settling on a bendy straw to toss into the beverage. "Forgot this. Here's a straw in case you want it for the road."

 Siren let out a slight chuckle at the way the barkeep was treating her. "Well thank you honey. I may have to make this a regular hangout spot. Especially if you keep staring at me like that. Those looks that you're giving me are very addicting." Her voice still smooth but somehow even more sultry as she continued speaking.

She grabbed the crystals and put them away. "Am I that distracting to be around that you forgot my beer?" She smirked at him. "I'll be drinking it here, then I'll head out. I know my username is Siren, but feel free to call me Angel." She leaned in a little closer to him, "But that'll just be our secret." After she finished her beer, she blew him a kiss and walked out the shop. "Don't be a stranger either sugar. If you wanna hang out just send me a message. And I'll definitely be back."

Stepping into the inconspicuous potion shop, Yuki was surprised to see that it was themed like a drink shop. Seeing how people had designed their shops was interesting compared to hers. She wanted to be a cook when she got out of Aincrad, so working in a shop with Japanese themed food was perfect practice for that. Nevertheless, she was here for some buffing potions no matter how they were themed.

"Hello, I just need five damage potions please. Will be helpful for my farming runs." The paladin will say, passing him the necessary amount of materials for payment. "Nice looking shop you have here, I'll keep you in mind if I need any more."
