Through the chasms of blackened walls, the maze to which the shrines of light dwelled. The pinnacle of a feminine form, a statue adorned with wings and a singular two handed sword clasped within its clutches. Inverted like a cross, the statue leans upon it. It was as if it was in a deep slumber, and Morrighan was no stranger to these apparatus. Yet her escapades had let her elsewhere today. Within the heat, a creature proved to be retching sharp outcries into the looming skies. As if a portrayal of its ire to any that would cross into its domain. Despite this, the woman saunters beyond the gates and seeks out the precipice. There was something she sought, and after all she wouldn't be in on this entirely alone. As fate would have it, more would be along after not too long. Toward one of the large blackened towers the woman moves, aiming for the object to which she sought

Into the familiar fires and brimstone that graced the outside of the creatures looming towers. Massive complexes of blackened stone that lingered so high that they pierced the clouds. Roars bellowed from beyond purview providing no simple comfort and elude to the boss's presence. "She's here." Raidou remarks with his screen closing out, looking to the rest of his respective party. Freyd's O&I operatives as well as Shiina, hoping to glean a bit more about their mysterious benefactor or hinderance. That front still remained a concealed hand, but Raidou found that Shiina had some sort of deeper connection with the woman, so he aimed to see if it could be used to isolate and perhaps dig a bit deeper. Of all the encounters, it seemed that they still understood so little. She did not fight, she didn't seem to do much. Yet she meandered to every location virtually unscathed, despite this.

Stealth: 230019 | LD: 4 + 6 = 10, Success!

Blinding just outside of view, the chill on the wind portraying her presence even in a visual absence. The girl scans the information plastered on the wanderer's screen, eagerly seeking her quarry. Her target, some strange white haired woman to which Setsuna couldn't help but taste the irony. The sheer amount of time she's spent shadowing white haired women could be easily add up to a full time job. Apparently this one was very, odd. The debriefing explained that this was an attempt at a conversation and was an information gathering mission, yet it seemed this woman had a habit of vanishing or giving the prior groups the slip. Which for most Setsuna could understand, but Raidou? That was quite a feat. Another roar overhead causes her to look to the sky. They were going to have to deal with the shadow on the horizon before they would even have the opportunity, or any conversation they hoped to hold would be cut short.

Stealth: 230021 | LD: 5 + 6 = 11, Success!

Looking to Setsuna who showed that stoic precision as she always wore. It was almost surgical how driven and calm that she always appeared. For as long as Kasumi has worked with her, and known her she's been this very frigid and plain faced girl. That fact only really changed when she smelled blood, where a lack became a sudden surge of outrage. But she was effective and respected authority to a fault, which allowed their captain to hold her back even when she had that look in her eyes. Like a rabid dog on a leash. Kasumi's attentions shift and scan the outside of one of the many towers. Recalling the black scaled dragon they'd faced here a number of times before, she'd surely had respawned by now and would work as interference. Setsuna was convinced that this woman wouldn't escape, yet Kasumi knew better. She'd slipped out right under their very nose far too often.

On Raidou's right, she scours the produced 3D image and takes note of the small blue dot trailing slowly toward a solid pillar on the overview. "Why here?" Simmone comments leaning back and folding her arms, as Raidou gestures the direction and clarifies the map vs. the world they were standing. This was one hell of a place for a single player to be wandering around on their own, and that thought makes her look to Raidou. It was just like him once, wasn't it? The fact sticks in her mind, and the irony of Raidou trying to prevent it was palpable. "Knowing her, she's going to be right under the things nose when we finally find her." Simmone affirms based on past events, given every time they catch her she's always within feet of something to provide her an easy exit. An enigma to which they never had a good enough opportunity to actually ask any questions, and even when they were allowed a few the answers were extremely cryptic.

Popping her lips, Shiina sits on a rock and kicks her feet back and forth as the nerds keep studying the map as if it would bite them if they looked away. "We fighting the dragon again?" Shiina quips shoving her weasel back in its space in her armor, seemingly sticking on something inside. The map screen closes and the group starts to move, causing Shiina to hop to her feet. She wobbles for a moment before scampering to keep the pace. The girl had to move at least twice as much given the fact she was so much shorter. The fact was she remembered the meeting, they were trying to understand that which could not be understood using science or logic. It seemed as though Raidou and Simmone had decided to pound their skulls against a brick wall, to figure out the answers to the universe instead of just accepting what was. I mean, yeah Shiina could totally chit chat with the woman, but this wasn't going to end at all like they expected it to. It never does.

Keeping shoulder to shoulder with Raidou, Simmone spots the woman finally and nudges the nomad with her right arm. The white hair just briefly caught in a glimpse, slipping into a darkened doorway. "She went up." Simmone remarks in a murmur, pointing a long pale white finger toward the tower. As they wander up, Shiina blinds past and starts to scamper up the blackened stone steps. The roar above signifies the creatures proximity. It sounded close, far too close to be a coincidence. This causes Simmone to look back to Raidou, who repays with a simple nod. "That's actually exactly what we've come to expect. Again, she's right in harms way digging around." Simmone quips under her breath as she starts to climb the massive spiraling staircase to the towers peak. Shiina standing there rocking back and forth, her arms crossed behind her back. The white haired woman not but 5 ft from her, wearing an equal smile.

The rocking stops and Shiina looks toward Nisahime, offering a chipper smile. "Told ya." She quips as she scans their expressions. The piercing roar above confirms exactly the groups suspicions and solidifies Shiina's estimation. Like an alarm clock, that bastard was right on queue. Predictable, for those that didn't believe in coincidence. Suddenly the clouds part and reveal the massive black complex that was the Shadow Dragon Matriarch. A wide wingspan that blankets out the sunlight before it dives. Slamming against the top of the tower, with enough force that threatens to shake it to its very core. "LOOK GUYS, DRAGON!" Shiina barks out as her voice gains amplitude, casting a giant red ring upon the floor.

"ROUND 1 FIGHT!" she chirps followed by a snicker.

Energy from her voice as an anthem begins, causing weapons of their party to surge with power. They all start to take on multifaceted hues, those same sword art lights without any skill triggers.

Maintain Stealth | 230028, LD: 16 + 6 = 22, Success!

A sudden surge of pink light shows a streak of Kasumi slamming her foot into the things devilish grin. Barred teeth shatter out of its skull and sprinkle the ground, and with it a slew of shiny black scales. The thing twists in anguish before its head immediately pivots back toward her, a sickly looking purple color flaring in a crest upon its head. Its eyes start to burn in a vibrant red, filled with malice and outrage. Those teeth follow a jaw which jerks toward Kasumi, who blinks out of view as they slam where her frame once remained. The crashing wave appears a few feet from her party, sliding her feet and raising her hands into a combat ready stance. She knew they weren't going to get a free pass from this monster, and as a result chose to strike first. A sharp flap of wings sends fire out from the creature in burning embers, the battle had begun.

As soon as its focus locked to Kasumi, Setsuna seems to form up out of white smoke. A cool mist coalesces and within a split second it was like ghost gaining shape. Her right hand hovered the handle of her katana, and as clamps down she tears through the creatures throat with a vorpal tear. It is as if space folds, and within nothing more then a blink of an eye Setsuna was on the opposite side. The slow sheathe of her weapon from the crouched position she found herself in, like a gentle grinding. Setsuna twists with that same sharp glare that could mirror the matriarch in its darkened evil.

The katana clicks shut and with it, a massive wound rips open from the creatures throat. Revealing the red wireframe beneath its hide, as if the armor had provided nothing. Out of anger the creature aims a counter attack, a heavy tail sweeps toward Setsuna. Through her body it would seem to strike, yet what shows is her frame stirring toward the path like a cloud. A mirage.

Left hand rips toward her right hip, clasping the handle of an awaiting estoc. Long slender fingers wrap around the cross guard and find themselves into the rings as her grip loosens and she draws the point up with a quick whip. Simmone provides it a gentle sweep and it seems to fuel the thing with a purple surge. The ticking of her stamina bar eludes to the power provided, and once it builds down the entire length of her weapon. The woman shifts and points it limply toward her target. Shifting her weight forward sees the system fire off, and this causes her to catapult forward. The violet line is left like a trail, denoting her path.

The weapon drags along the creatures cheek, sheering clean along its teeth and catching it by surprise. It rips open its jaw and sends a pump of black liquid that begins to ooze out of its mouth. The teeth begin to become stained, and are slightly exposed with the newly formed wound.

It would seem right on queue, the players had helped themselves into the encounter. As expected they were quick to rush into combat, the white haired woman staring them down moments before the dragon had taken to its respective perch. After all, this was the creatures chosen nest and they had all foolishly rushed into it. It would also appear that they were already giving it hell to pay for its existence. "Clever." the woman goads with the Dragon between her and the rest of their respective party. A flash of silver on her eyes mirrors the purple surge that was blinking above the creatures eyes. She had tasks to complete and she didn't have time to meander or answer the multitude of questions they would surely ask. This coupled with the fact that any answer provided would hardly be acceptable anyway, and it was purely a waste of time and effort.

Locking eyes with the woman with the expectation being confirmed with an earth piercing roar. Nisahime reciprocated it with an equal piercing stare as the clouds above tore open and the beast slams into the top of the tower. The blackened scales and piercing red eyes provide the exact lack of comfort that Raidou had come to deal with. Yet his attentions hold fast on that woman, as the rest of his party begins to shred the creature. Simmone scampering by on his left, Raidou is forced to pivot and block an incoming attack. His weapon grinds with a scatter of small sparks, as the creatures teeth lock drag against the blade. A shift of his weight and the creature is rebuked, to which he provides a turn and shoves the point into its eye causing it to rush away from the simulated pain. It recoils and lifts its head, the irritation causing it to rush upward and spray purple flames down upon the tower. It was clearly furious and wanted to be left well enough alone. Or perhaps it was a ruthless killing machine. The fact was, they were not here for it. It was nothing more then a barrier.

Rushing in moments after the flames batter them all, Kasumi drives her heel into the creatures skull. It causes the thing to land as its dazed and for a moment it even loses vision. The spinning axe kick leaves a trail of pink that lingers after the blow connects, sending a sharp pile of scales raining down from above. As the dragon descends the girl springs onto it and off, using it to vault and change her momentum. She only travels a few feet before she disappears as quickly as she came. Another flash of pink, sees these harmless little flower petals floating gently toward the ground. Seconds later she would appear next to the rest of her party, still a little fried from the prior attack and yet she stood adamant. Shoulder to shoulder with her companions, her friends and her family. They'd look on to hear the heavy crash of the dragon making its landing as its dome rung.

As soon as the Shadow Dragon Matriarch hits the ground, its wings are shredded. A single minute line draws across its wingspan as they begin to fold, this tiny cyan line and at the end of it Setsuna appears in a puff of white mist. Hand to her face, the girl spins into the air and clambers to the ground. Setsuna's feet dig in and keep her balance, as her momentum carries her some distance. Sliding back, it wears a nice groove through the soot and dust, as she whips her hand back and rotates her weapon toward its sheathe. Finding the hole she slides it close, and the moment the weapon is fully shut that cool blue line vanishes, as if foreshadowing what came next. As if the thinnest cut, the wings quickly spread apart like cut paper and bits of data rain off of them like stardust. Setsuna grinds to a stop, turns with that sharp glare with intent focus. Her target stood, and her ire grew. But not for long.

Running past Setsuna, Simmone aims to make due on the merciless overload and distraction of constant attacks. That insistent and unceasing pressure allows Simmone to close the gap, her heeled boots clapping upon the stonework of this misshapen and shattered tower. A single flame snuffed out as she moves past, her weapon flicking back to center as she pivots to avoid a raking claw. Continuing the twirl, she rotates three quarters of the way and dumps three nasty stabs into the creature's upper arm. They don't appear like much, as Simmone slowly comes to a stop. But its followed by her ripping her right hand up and snapping in a sharp click. As if on command, those wounds start to pour out black liquid as if a cancer eating the beast from within. It coughs and shutters, as that blackened ooze is hacked out. The deepest poison to which the black lotus loved to dish out, it had taken hold and the sharp decline in the creatures health affirmed it.

The woman would just seem to stand there, watching in her resolute silence. As if this were a movie or some sort of play, eagerly anticipating the next moment yet her blank expression minus the smile would not elude to much. It was a curious thing, these players and their drastic attempts to thwart or interrupt her at every turn. Despite them being told not to, despite the fact they were warned the cost of digging away at questions best left unsolved. Another flash of silver affirms her intentions and it was as if the beast reciprocated that intention. But really this was a trial and tribulation, one to push them all to their very limits. Else they breed into stagnation, forget to which they were born and end up being squandered to the wind. It was the very same to which others had suffered for the sake of success, and these lot were no different. "Oh boy, I do believe she's getting angry." The woman gests as she whistles and wiggles her fingers. "Think the clock is ticking boys and girls, better start moving faster..."

  • Bring Down The House: If the Matriarch is still in <<Preparation>>, players can deal 750 DMG to it to knock it out of the sky. Doing so will prevent it from using <<Hellfire>> and deal an additional 250 unmitigatable DMG to it.

More insistent goading, and more aggression from the beast which did not aid it. It was clear that Raidou would need to focus the creature down if he ever wanted to have any hope at actually getting a fair line of questioning. His blade drops off to his right side, as he reaches into his robe pocket. Out he plucks a singular stone, to which he palms in his left hand. Lifting the flat of his blade against it, the wanderer rips it across and causes it to ignite. The flames distort and turn a deep shade of crimson, blazing and ready to make due on his aggression. Without warning the nomad folds down, kneeling low before he lunges. The ground breaks, and the space between them vanishes with a cloud of dust. The sheer movement alone causes a boom, as his robe flails actively in a flutter. From below, Raidou slinks that blade as the sword art triggers at point blank. The system assisted movement with that ridiculously weighty blade of his slams into the boss's neck with such ferocity that one can hear something snap inside, and behind the blow within a few seconds is a trail of flame that licks the hide into a scorching and festering mess.

Shiina sits idly by, allowing the music she deployed to put in the heavy lifting but it starts to fade. "Guess that's my queue" The girl remarks toward Nisahime before she hops back up and dusts off her butt, reaching into her pocket and dropping out another prismatic stone. The glimmering crystalline blue device hits the stone beneath her and with it Shiina begins to vocalize, her voice seeming to carry with far more weight then it should. With that sudden surge of vocal prowess, that chore like anthem a green sigil begins to trail itself out beneath her very feet. It expands outward, joining its brother as it spins clockwise until the sizes match. It then seems to halt in place, locking down the effects as the hollow whispers chant the lyrics slightly behind when the primary line occurs. As she does, players will find that their speed is amplified and their stasis are shorter. Shiina had done what she needed to, now she could enjoy the show.

The creature in the mist, a name with a dark connotation and yet it couldn't be more fitting a title. Setsuna stirs as the flames of the tower push her further and further into a deep vitriol. Far too little does she find an opponent that can challenge her, and somewhere deep down she relished the moment where they could actually make her feel anything. The blade on her back is shifted off to her left side, and she turns the scabbard slightly using her left hand. The girls eyes light up in a sharp cyan blue. Lifting her left thumb, fog begins to ooze out of the opening like a stream and collecting itself beneath her.

Her right moves to hover the tsuka, her offhand clasping tight the saya. Her posture lowers as the fog builds. Setsuna grits her teeth and can taste copper, as that cold affirms her intentions. What follows is nothing more then a murmur beneath the loud warzone:

<<Mortal Draw: Erasure>>

The system reels and activates, her stamina bar plummets as if an ill omen. The fog around her becomes a massive wall of sleet, and in an instant the field becomes this faint and distant place. Sound seems to stop, vision is cut down to near nothing. The faint breathing, as the beast panicks against the sudden disappearance of all of its senses. A creeping sense of dread, of absence, of....

Nothing

A sound plays, the gentle click of a katana shut.

Its followed by the gut wrenching screech in horrified agony, as the Dragon's neck explodes into jagged shards of ice. Its wing crumples to the ground, frozen solid it shatters like glass. Its front leg is nothing more then a post, dessected and ruined beyond compare. It had learned a valuable lesson. The one that most could never learn a second time.
