Siren 0 Posted September 9 #1 Share Posted September 9 (edited) Siren found her way to Floor 9, she was had heard about a quest on this floor and really wanted to start clearing quest to power-level herself. She would've had Reese escort her but he was off doing another quest helping someone out. She definitely needed the help since she was still level one. She actually heard about the quest from Oz, so she figured she'd check it out. She knew she was probably in over her head, but she was praying for a more advanced player to show up and maybe help her out. She doubted the frontliners or anyone super powerful would just be walking around but she did hope. She looked around, "Well hell. I could've sworn this quest giver was supposed to be here." She spotted a man with black hair, and... a candle on his head? How peculiar. She approached the man slowly, praying that this was the quest giver she was looking for. * * * * * * * * * Spoiler Character Sheet: Spoiler Siren | Level 1 | HP: 20/20 | EN: 20/20 | DMG: 4 | MIT:18 | EVA:1 Equipment: Spoiler Duelist's Rapier | T1 Perfect Rapier | DMG 3| ID [221552] [Desc.] This elegant rapier is designed for speed and precision, capable of dealing devastating strikes. A river of bubbling lava cut its way through the vast, dead plains of the ninth floor not even a mile off from where he walked. Each step he took towards the destination ahead brought with it the small fear that the soles of his boots would melt right off. Jomei had left his signature green cloak safely within his inventory, hoping the extra layer would take away some of the intensity of this heat. But even in just his usual, sleeveless garb, it wasn't enough to make him feel comfortable. A stray hand would run through his hair, pushing ginger locks out of his face for a moment, before haphazardly falling across half of his face once more, "Enough complaining. Lets see.." A beckoning gesture with his left hand, and his virtual menus came to life within the empty space before his person. Olive orbs scanned the notes he had acquired from his old friend and information broker, regarding an extra skill that could be obtained through a classic quest the floor had to offer. "Yeesh.. those quest conditions seem a bit tough to take on. Maybe I should have asked for help." He pondered on the thought for a moment, his right hand hovering over his friends list. A brief moment later, he dismissed the thought, instilling himself with a bit of blind confidence in being able to get the skill on his own. Plenty of his comrades wouldn't shy away from taking on these bandits themselves, why should he? With a bit more of a pep in his step - partially still worried his boots might fall apart at any moment on the hot stones - he pushed forward to the familiar Yōgan Village. It did not take much time to track down the quest giver, given the information he was given. Even then, didn't take an info broker to find out who to look for to get a quest. As he stepped up to the NPCs side to initiate a conversation, another body did as well. (Surprisingly) The red frames she wore on the bridge of her nose caught his attention first, the fashion very similar to an old best friend of his, Piera. A quick turn of his head to look in her direction, and he could clearly see that it was not his old friend. He opened his mouth to speak, before the realization caught in his throat. "O-Oh sorry lass. Thought you were an old friend of mine." he would say with a warm smile.
Omen 0 Posted September 11 #3 Share Posted September 11 (edited) Omen had heard of a quest that was meant to unlock a skill that increased the user's mitigation for a first time -- such a skill, Omen knew, would be very useful. He had, once upon a time, been a tank, and was looking to play that same role if all went well. But the problem was that he was only Level 1, and couldn't take the Bandit Camp on by himself. He figured that it wasn't too likely he found someone to carry him through it, but he also didn't see what the harm was in waiting and seeing. His armor and weapon were still being made, so why not kill what time he had? He didn't have to wait very long. A woman approached, and behind her, a man. He waited for both to gather together before he approached. "Are you looking to take on the Bandit Camp?" His voice was deep, as broad as he was, and like gravel. But his expression, though neutral, was kind. He spoke to the both of them because he thought the two of them were together. "I'm afraid I can't help with combat -- but I have items to heal you should you be injured, and I would greatly appreciate it if you'd allow me to join your party." *** Stats: Omen: 20/20 HP | 20/10 EN | 4 DMG (Literally nothing else to his name) Player Stats: Spoiler Level: 1 Health: 20 | Energy: 20 DMG: 4 Shift: N/a Skills: Combat Skills: ► Empty Weapon Skills: ► Axe [4/30] - Rank 1 Utility Skills: ► Empty Extra Skills: ► Empty Familiar Skill: ► Empty Armor Skills: ► Empty Modifiers: ► Empty Miscellaneous: ► Empty Inventory: » [Equipped] [Vanity] Rusty Axe Battle Ready: » x5 Rumbling Rum Party Favor: Instant Mass HP Recovery (10%) » x5 Rumbling Rum Party Favor: Instant Mass HP Recovery (10%) » x5 Soothing Spirits: Perfect Healing Potion (+15%) Edited September 11 by Omen
Siren 0 Posted September 27 Author #4 Share Posted September 27 The heat usually didn’t bother her—she was almost always cold. Wearing a little sweater dress with her hair down, she hadn’t thought twice about her outfit until now. Traveling from floor two to here had been a mistake without changing clothes. Figuring it was better late than never, she used the system to swap into a tank top and shorts, then threw her armor over the new ensemble before continuing on. Much better. God this floor sucks. Suddenly, she heard a man’s voice with a thick Irish accent. Is he talking to me? Siren glanced around before spotting him. “I suppose it’s fine,” she said with a grin. “I won’t lie, sugar—I didn’t notice you till you spoke up.” She extended a hand his way. “Name’s Siren. But, same rule for everyone: call me whatever you want, sugar.” Mid-introduction, a massive man approached, and Siren had to quickly recover from the shock. Where did he come from? She flashed a smile. Siren went through her whole introduction with the big burly man this time. “Yes sir, that’s where I’m heading. In fact, I was just about to ask this handsome man here if he’d mind being my escort for the day. I’m not much help in combat with my level being so low, but I’ll do my best.” Siren smiled at both men, accepted the quest from Kirk, and led the way to their destination. * * * Spoiler
Jomei 0 Posted September 27 #5 Share Posted September 27 Jomei wasn't expecting the accent that coated the woman's words as the words left her red tinted lips. It was soft, smooth, and could potentially be used as a deadly weapon to get whatever she wanted. And the way she presented her.. assets, for a moment he felt a bit of déjà vu. Careful with this one, he thought to himself, don't need another Opal. With a kind smile, he met the woman's hand in greeting, gently taking hers in his own partially gloved hand. "Jomei, its a pleasure to meet you Siren." Another approached them with the intention of speaking with the quest giver that stood idly a short distance from where they spoke. They were taller than Jomei by a couple of inches, seemingly older, and with muscles that made Jomei look like a twig. Though the kind expression he wore as he asked Jomei and Siren their intentions with the quest relieved any immediate intimidation they may have felt. Here Jomei was hoping to possibly pick up a partner that he could rely on in combat, back him up when need be.. but from what it seemed, he was going to be on escort duty instead. He'd need to keep all of the bandits off of them, while also being the one to fight them. Great, but should be enough to handle. "Of course. It's been awhile since I've run this quest, but I should be able to cover both of you. I am Jomei, by the way." he introduced himself to the large man, before following Siren off towards their destination. "I'm nearly positive the quest has updated since I last took it.. but we hopefully shouldn't run into too many issues." He swung his menus open to take a quick peek at his stats and skills. "I picked up some skills that should help keep their attention on me and off of you, so that should be a great help. I should have picked up something to boost my Evasion or Damage.. but too late now. I'm really careless when it comes to stocking up on battle consumables. I don't suppose you have anything like that on ha-" Jomei turned over his shoulder to address Omen, but saw he was nowhere to be seen. "Oh, he's gone."
Siren 0 Posted October 11 Author #6 Share Posted October 11 (edited) "Well, Jomei, it is very nice to meet you, sugar," Siren spoke warmly, offering him a bright smile. She turned to greet the big, burly man who had been standing nearby, but in the blink of an eye, he was gone. Frowning, she looked around, her eyes scanning the area. "Well, that totally wasn’t strange," she muttered to herself, half-expecting him to be hiding nearby, but he was nowhere to be found. "Guess that means more experience for us," she added with a playful shrug. As she and Jomei chatted, wondering where the towering man had disappeared to, they were interrupted by a hesitant voice. Kirk, a wiry man with an earnest look, approached them with a sense of urgency. "My sincere apologies, adventurers, but could I bother you to go take care of the bandit leader?" His voice dropped as he explained, "He was demoted for being drunken and lazy, and now he’s furious that I took his place. I can’t offer much in terms of compensation, but I’d be grateful for any help you could give." Siren reached out and patted Kirk on the shoulder, her eyes soft with reassurance. "We got this, sugar. Don’t even fret your pretty little head about it, alright?" She shot him a confident smile before turning to Jomei, her eyes meeting his and sparking with excitement. "What do you say, sugar? Let’s kick some bandit behind." She looped her arm around his with a grin, feeling a familiar rush of anticipation. Edited October 30 by Siren
Jomei 0 Posted October 31 #7 Share Posted October 31 The voice of a man clearly tired and out of options addressed them, the quest giver that was patiently standing around as the three - now two - conversed revealed the details of his plight. The prior foreman of the Yōgan mines had taken up arms, building a band of thugs and ruffians to terrorize the village, most likely out of revenge for his 'forced early retirement.' The ginger simply nodded along, allowing Siren to speak for the two of them. In the meantime, Jomei took care of officially accepting the quest as the prompt appeared before him and creating a party consisting of himself and his pink haired companion. "Alright, sounds like we are good to go-" the arm of the woman hooking around his own took him by surprise. A rather forward approach for a duo who had just met. With a soft clearing of his throat, he rose the arm that Siren had taken to point towards the outskirts of the city. "I-Its been a long time since I've done this quest, but judging by where Kirk is telling us to go, their camp didn't move much." Yōgan Village was not the largest of settlements, and it was not a long walk before the two found themselves passing through the invisible barrier of safety. A casual elbow rested on the pommel of his rapier, keeping a vigilant eye for any unexpected dangers. If what Siren said was true, and she did not have much experience with combat, then the same went for her defenses as well. "So, what made you decide to go out looking for quest partners on this floor?" he asked curiously, "I know there are a bunch of quests that don't require combat, or are a bit simpler for those without many levels under their belt." His shoulders rose and fell with a shrug, "Not that I have a problem taking this one with you, I was hoping to get this one done myself anyway, just curious."
Siren 0 Posted December 4 Author #8 Share Posted December 4 Siren smiled brightly, her confidence radiating despite the light blush dusting her cheeks. "Well darlin', to be honest, I'm aiming to gain some levels fast, and a whole lot of combat experience while I'm at it." She let her fingers trail along the hilt of her rapier. Though she could've chosen an easier, less combat-intensive quest, she wasn't the type to back down from a challenge. In fact, she thrived on them. "I won't lie to you, Jom darlin'. I've got my sights set on joining the frontliners one day." Her scarlet eyes shimmered with excitement, a spark of determination blazing within them. Her grin softened as her expression grew a touch sheepish. "I also don't get out much these days... mostly just stuck at home," she admitted, her blush deepening as she brushed a strand of pink hair from her face. Pulling out her well-loved book, she flipped it open to distract herself. "You haven't done this quest yet?" She asked, genuine surprise lacing her voice. She had assumed someone as strong and experienced as Jomei would've already conquered every quest available thus far. As they approached the bandit camp, the tension in the air thickened. Siren's sharp eyes took in the camp's chaotic scene. The bandits walked erratically with no discernible patrol routes. Siren frowned slightly, tapping her chin. "Well, hell. I was really hoping they'd have a bit more structure," she muttered under her breath. After a moment of contemplation, she tilted her head toward Jomei. "We could try to be sneaky, but I'll admit. I'm not exactly the stealthiest." Her confidence wavered momentarily, but it didn't take long for her resolve to return. Leaning in, she whispered, "Either way, I think we got this darlin'." Just as Siren was about to take a step forward, she collided with something solid. Her head snapped up, and she found herself face to face with one of the bandits. He glared down at her, his voice gruff and accusatory. "What in the hell do you think you're doing here?!" Siren's initial shock quickly gave way to her natural sass. She straightened her back, placed her hands on her hips, and shot him a withering glare. One of those glares you'd get when you know you're about to get scolded by your mother. "What the fuck do you think you're doing bumping into a lady like that? How rude!" She dramatically dusted herself off, her tone dripping with mock indignation. "Where's your decorum, huh? Didn't your mother ever teach you manners? Hell, did no one teach you manners?" Her southern drawl, once sweet with honey, now dripping with vitriol and venom.
Jomei 0 Posted December 7 #9 Share Posted December 7 "Take my advice." the cheery voice dropping, as did his smile. Not of disdain, or loathing.. but warning. "Don't rush. Take your time." A small sigh would ease the tension from his shoulders, and the demeanor he wore. "I'm sure anyone you've told that to has said the same thing. We've just seen so much shit in the raids, and so many making it their dream to join us." Head shook gently side to side, "I just don't want to see anyone dyin' before their time, is all." The smile finally returned to his lips, "I'm positive you'd make a great addition to the team.. I just don't want to see you there until you're damned sure you're ready. And even then, you won't be." "The levels are easy. Keeping sane after watching one of your friends die.. that's the hard part." Hands rose to hook behind his head in a relaxed position, "Ah, but enough tryin' to scare ya straight. If I'm bein' honest, its been a long time since we lost someone. So you'll probably be fine when the time comes." "I've done this before, just some time ago. There was some weird.. update after the boss on floor twenty-five. A lot of Aincrad had changed when we came to. I try not to think too hard on it." he scoffed. "However, looks like they didn't bother to move the camp." Just as he had remembered, back with Lessa during his first few months, but it seemed as if there were at least a dozen or so more bandits than the last time. "Going in quiet might be best.." he whispered, "No skills on my end to help either, but I'm sure if we're careful enou-" If he was quick enough, he could get out of the sight of the bandit Siren had unknowingly walked into. If he was distracted just enough, he could slink off behind a nearby tent. "Oi, there's another one over here!" a bandit shouted to the one Siren berated for being less than chivalrous. "You really have to go and blow my cover like that, mate?" Jomei would say with pleading hands and a charming expression on his face. Quick, experienced hands drew his rapier from his hip faster than the bandit could process. While he did no damage with his swift sword play, he had managed to create enough distance to prepare an actual attack. "I'm assumin' its too late to try and be sneaky here."
