Sorun 0 Posted September 18 Author #21 Share Posted September 18 The figure would lead on, Sorun would follow behind. When he reached the safe zone limit, he began to rethink his confidence in this moment. Viper was standing guard, but she stopped Sorun for a quick moment. "If you're serious about becoming a warrior of your potential, go to Senimoh. The men there can help you get sorted out." She suggested. Sorun's map updated, but for now he had someone to follow. He nodded. "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." It felt like a while, just walking on an on, and it's like the environment was slowly shifting or transitioning into something else. Before long, He found himself in a strange forest with a pond. Sorun could only hope that he hadn't bitten off more than he could chew. "You pride yourself on being a fighter at heart, don't you?" The figure asked. "And yet, you got your ass handed to you by that Viper girl. Effortlessly." He remarked. Sorun's eyes widened as he stopped suddenly. "You were there?" Sorun asked. The figure chuckled. "I was always there. I watched your every move." He revealed. "For someone wanting to take a stand, when are you going to do something real for once?" He questioned. Sorun 0 Posted September 18 Author #22 Share Posted September 18 (edited) Sorun didn't know how to answer this question. This guy had been watching his every move? Um, stalker much? "What...?" Sorun blinked. "Look, not everyone can become a legend by facing the worst things imaginable on day one." He shot back. "I gotta start small, stick to my weight class, however it can be phrased, whatever. I gotta work my way up from the bottom, but those boars just don't seem to be enough for me." The figure chuckled. "Is that so?" He asked. "Heh..." The figure gripped his cloak and tossed it aside with enough force to yeet a person. Sorun was shocked to see a copy of himself, the name tag revealing itself as <<The Gemini>>. The Gemini laughed. "Well then if you want to rise up against someone your own size, now's your chance!" The Gemini lunged at Sorun with his axe, and damaged him while he was struggling to get into combat position. Sorun was flabbergasted, but he had to ready himself. "You should see the look on your face...priceless." The Gemini mocked. Sorun 0 Posted September 18 Author #23 Share Posted September 18 (edited) Sorun wasn't sure how else to respond, other than how his blood was now boiling over this doppelganger's incessant mockery and string-pulling. He locked axes with The Gemini, and attempted to apply enough force to knock him down. This failed, but the effort was definitely there. Both combatants disengaged from their lock. After a short clashing and deflecting of each others' weapons, Sorun attempted to use his axe to pull at The Gemini's, in an attempt to disarm his opponent. Instead, Sorun got tugged at back, and he ended up getting flung a fair distance. While he still had his weapon, he wasn't prepared for the leaping strike The Gemini was now executing. Damaged again, but pretty hard this time. Didn't stop Sorun from wanting to take this monster down. The coming retaliation would be its undoing. "You're going to regret that..." Sorun decided. "How do you expect to do that?" The Gemini questioned. "You couldn't save anyone, you couldn't hold all that you've lost...so what makes you think you won't deal with more loss again this time?" Very poor choice of words. "...You should've watched your mouth." Sorun spoke. "I'm going to enjoy taking you down..." The Gemini shook his head. "Ah, yes, the one time someone ever royally pissed you off. That's what you're feeling, aren't you? You were angered for someone else's sake that time though, not this time." He remarked, as though he somehow knew Sorun's life inside and out. Sorun stomped down the first step of his advance down into the shallow pond. The rippling of the water was only but a first step. "Aw, what, did I strike a nerve?" The Gemini questioned, his smirk unfading. Sorun started chuckling as he advanced further, his pace quicker with each step. "I think I've had enough of you." Sorun shoved into the Gemini with considerable force, knocking him back before leading with a barrage of strikes. While each hit was deflected, Sorun's assault was not yet finished. With a more hefty blow, The Gemini was knocked further back. By now, the smirk had finally faded as the battle began to go in Sorun's favor. Sorun roared out as he lashed out ferociously against his foe. Each hit left a large red mark representing a deep gash on the Gemini, the last hit of the attack sending him flying and breaking his weapon. With his weapon broken, and his HP reduced, there was nothing more the Gemini could do against Sorun. "Damn...I underestimated you." He said weakly. Sorun approached the Gemini, his axe in hand. The look in Sorun's eyes revealed he was not in the mood for sparing. The Gemini grit his teeth, and braced for impact. Sorun's axe cut off the Gemini's left arm entirely, cleaved into his chest, and tore his right leg, before burying itself within his head. "Tell me, Aidan..." The Gemini began, nearly rasping as he barely clung to his life. "When do you think a Ripple becomes a Tidal Wave? When will a Spark become...a Lightning Bolt..." The Gemini then shattered. Sorun 0 Posted September 18 Author #24 Share Posted September 18 (edited) Those were his final words? A puzzle? Did this have to do with the four items? No, it couldn't have. And whatever that doppelganger was, it's dead now. Sorun knew that a ripple was harmless, but a tidal wave was devastating. A spark might spook someone, but it's hardly anything...a lightning bolt, however, had immense power and was five times hotter than the sun's surface. ...So what did that creature mean by what he said there? Sorun walked over to the pond, and saw his reflection within it. He was glad to see himself, rather than a monster like the Gemini. The waters of the pond were still rippling from the battle. "How could a ripple even become a tidal wave?" He thought aloud. He shook his head, and began to walk away. Perhaps it was a question for another time, like the significance of the items he was tasked to find by the very creature he killed on this day. Maybe later, he might learn the answer. When does a Ripple become a Tidal Wave? When does a Spark become a Lightning Bolt? When does a Man become a Monster? Summary: Word count: 6,078 Exp.
