Family Life and Friends

Serenity had a very blessed life. She didn't have any problems and was loved by everyone she met. When she was a young child she would hang out with her father as he worked on his vintage car collection. He had a 1967 Chevy Impala that he restored completely with her help, and a 1938 Volkswagen Beetle that he got for her to restore with his supervision of course. She grew up in a very close knit neighborhood. One day she and her dad were working on her car, when his best friend, her godfather came to visit. She ran inside to get them each a drink, and returned to fixing her car. She was crouched in the car, tending to something near the front seat when she heard a strange sound, followed by a low groan. Curious, she glanced up and saw her father fall to the ground. Her instincts kicked in—she quickly locked the doors as the familiar figure approached, trying to get in. After several unsuccessful attempts, the figure gave up. Heart racing, she grabbed her phone and called the authorities, then her mother. From that day forward she was never the same.

Serenity had become a recluse, only spending time in her precious video games or working on cars. She took spare time after school apprenticing as a mechanic and learning the trade. Eventually, she opened her own shop and named it after her father. She poured her heart and soul into that shop. She actually made so much money that she was able to help her mother out a bit. Then came the day SAO was announced. 

Gaming Experience

Serenity didn't play any online games at all. Now that wasn't because she didn't have any friends... well actually it was. She was scared to open herself up to anyone ever again. So she stuck to singleplayer, offline games. Then she heard about a full dive system with a launch title of Sword Art Online. It was truly the first online title that she was intrigued by, she could potentially just disappear from this world and live in another? Leave all her worries behind? 

Leading up to SAO

Serenity attempted to save money for the NerveGear. It was just out of her budget. She was scrolling on her phone one day and saw someone selling NerveGear and a copy of Sword Art Online. She was initially sketched out by the way the guy was talking, but she took all the precautions. She met him at a public place, even going earlier to make an escape route if anything went south. He charged her like half the price of what they were new. She wondered if it was defective, but she still went home and put it all on.  After calibrating the system, she cried out, "Link, START!"

Even when she’s overwhelmed, she refuses to delegate tasks or ask for help, leading to frequent stress and burnout. This independence can alienate others who might want to assist her but feel pushed away.
3. Stubborn – Once Serenity has made up her mind about something, it’s nearly impossible to convince her otherwise. Her stubbornness often means she sticks to her decisions, even when they are no longer practical or helpful.
