Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted September 25 #1 Share Posted September 25 Floor 6. The jungle. Kiluia was standing on his veranda and stretching his arms. Steaming cup of coffee was seen on the wooden rail as he stared out in the forest view. Today was the day he would find himself searching for a jungle cat familiar for his new friend. He leaned over the railing and yawned a bit as he had told her to meet him at his house. He was sporting his usual look of a sleeveless shirt but this time he had shorts on. It was that or a pair of pants that would make him sweat. The temperature was pretty spot on and the rain clouds would also swallow them up if they weren't careful. Good thing today wasn't supposed to be rainy. Behind him, the penguin was sleeping on the ground. She had rolled off her little bed and had found herself sprawled out on the tiled floor. He turned and stared at the creature and perked a brow. Pingu could sleep through a hurricane if it hit. A sigh was given as he looked back out the view and waited for Ty to come along. His house wasn't that far from the teleporter and if she had gotten lost, she had his contact information. He wouldn't worry too much. Food was already prepared for her for when she would arrive at the appropriate time. He wanted to feed the woman first prior to their outing. He grabbed his coffee and took a sip of it as he thought about what he was doing. He was helping out new players to fill a hole in his soul and heart. Maybe he could make a difference now after learning to protect himself and to just keep on moving forward. Yeah. That would be the way for him to move. Typhoonflame 0 Posted September 26 #2 Share Posted September 26 Ty popped out of the teleporter, looking around. She'd taken Kil's advice and decided to wear a white short-sleeved shirt with "Love" in fancy letters on it and some plain, yet short black pants. Not quite shorts, but three-quarters pants. She glanced around, taking in the sights. It was certainly much more humid here and she found herself shielding her eyes against a flash of the sun through the tall jungle trees' foliage. This was certainly a better climate for her, she decided with a smile. She loved heat, even though she could already feel sweat coating her brow. This was still better than freezing in the cold near her shop. Maybe she should consider relocating...In any case, she had to get to Kil's house before he thought she'd gotten lost. Picking up her pace, she walked in the direction of his house, stopping now and again to look at the flora and fauna of the area. Upon noticing Kil at his house, she raised a hand and waved. "Hey! I made it!" Spoiler Typhoonflame| Lv. 7 | HP: 140/140 | EN: 32/32 | DMG: 8 | ACC: 1 | PAR: 2 SP: 5 EXP: 3449 EXP Skills: Rapier Skill: PASSIVE, Rank 5 Effect: At Rank 1, gain +3 DMG. Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted September 30 Author #3 Share Posted September 30 His coffee had gotten cooler as he looked down at Ty. A tilt of his head was given as he waved to her with a slight smile upon his features. A little rose tinge rose upon his face as she seemed to dress freely. It was a good thing that this quest wasn't hard at all, but he would enjoy the mean time with her. "Come on up! I got some brunch ready for us." He offered a bigger smile. It may not be pasta for now, but it would be tasty croissant sandwich with ham and cheese. It was made from fresh boar that he managed to cure, and the cheese was made fresh two days ago. He had managed to cool it down to make it actually taste like the American cheese. He had left out several other foods and toppings for her to select. Pingu waddled around and walked to the door to open it for Ty. She peered her head out and a beaked smile with her eyes stared at her. Pingu was happy that someone managed to come over as it had been quite some time. Kil kept the house clean at all times. It was a large house that had several rooms, many of them untouched for reasons unknown to others save for him. "Would you like some wine or orange juice? I have a lot to offer here." He smiled as she entered his house. He wanted to ensure she would have a great time doing this and not become static like some adventurers that did once they found out that this was harder with every quest. Typhoonflame 0 Posted October 1 #4 Share Posted October 1 "Yay, food!" Ty shouted, bouncing over with a laugh. A slight limp remained in her step, but the rest of her disability was pretty much removed in this game, so she was practically properly running towards Kil. She dipped her head to Pingu jokingly, patting her head. "Thank you, m'lady, you're very kind! How are you doing, little buddy, huh? Kil treating you well? Does he need an earful?" she teased. The penguin had grown on her, she had to admit, and it felt good to have friends she could trust here. The offering of food made Ty grin. "Damn, Kil, that's a lot! And you made all of this? Once again, you're a genius!" She took two croissants and tasted one. Her eyes glowed. "Delicious! And I'm usually not a fan of ham! If you've got juice, that'd be great. I don't drink this early." she said, somewhat sheepishly.
Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted October 2 Author #5 Share Posted October 2 Hearing her talk about what she liked and didn't like was a good note as he would listen to her infectious voice of happiness. He let out a slight laugh as he poured her a glass of fresh orange juice. There were things in this world that they could collect to trigger that taste of citrus. They had an actual orange he could use. "I'll remember that ham part. I just wanted to make sure you had enough food in you when we decided to go leaving and finding the traveler and then head our way to find that familiar." It was a good thing he had researched the info broker to see where the woman would be next to find out when they could start this quest. Pingu was already doing her thing by taking food in her arms. She wasn't afraid to eat. No no. She was always quite generous with her own portion. His eyes locked upon her; a smile was seen. He was wearing a black muscle shirt with his vest tied around his waist. Despite it being hot, he was most comfortable here in the house with its controlled temperature. "So, did you think of any names for your pet? I'm sure you'll love it when your eyes land on the creature." He would place a muffin in his hand and take a bite out of it. He leaned back on the kitchen counter while watching her. He would take a sip of apple juice he prepared earlier and set it down when he had downed half of it.
Typhoonflame 0 Posted October 5 #6 Share Posted October 5 Ty watched Pingu eat with amusement. She was pretty sure most of the food the penguin was gobbling down was poisonous or bad for actual penguins, but in this world, it had to work differently. She always had to remind herself of this fact when thinking about most things that happened to her here, since the logic was just so different and it sort of annoyed her. "I don't know, I guess I'll decide when I see it! Would be kinda cool to name it after my cats, though it would also make me sad. So we'll see how I feel." Ty shrugged at Kil's question. She finished her food quickly, having always been a fast eater, which many teased her for. "And don't worry about the ham thing, I don't hate it, I just prefer cheese. If you really want to avoid a food item with me, avoid beans. I'll eat literally anything else." She laughed. "What about you? Also, who's the traveler?" she asked, popping the last bite into her mouth.
Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted October 8 Author #7 Share Posted October 8 His soft gaze landed on her as he finished his brunch and started putting away excess food back into the inventory. She was looking at Pingu and he would watch the penguin as well this time as the not starved penguin began to horde her share. He immediately started placing dishes into the sink and would start washing them quickly to get them cleaned up before going over the details of her quest. "The traveler is a random NPC who gives us food to start the quest. To lure it in..." He spoke while working on the dishes and setting them in place on the dish rack. Voice continued to announce the quest but in a softer way now. "Once active, we can go on the prowl for your cat. Just gotta locate her on this floor somewhere. Shes usually at the inn or at the entrance of the place where to enter the floor itself. So, we can check those two places. The broker just told her that today would be the day she would be traveling to this floor." With the dishes done, he wiped his hands clean and looked over at her as she finished off her meal. He wasn't in any rush as this wouldn't take too long. He would pray for her luck in trying to catch the one she wanted. "Pingu will be staying here. Don't want her to scare the thing away since she is too rambunctious to control." The penguin looked at him with a sneer on her face. She would sneak out one way or another. However, Kil knew the ways to prevent this from happening by locking down the place while she was busy eating her food. She wouldn't have much option but to stay and keep guard of the house. Memories flooded at the initial time when he found Pingu with a faceless blue haired wonder. He slightly shook his head to cast away the memory heading to grab his gear. Typhoonflame 0 Posted October 9 #8 Share Posted October 9 Ty listened to Kil's explanation, leaning back as he washed the dishes. "Random NPC that gives us food? But we already have food, no? So are we going to get more food? Don't get me wrong, I'm not against getting more meals, just seems...excessive." She laughed. "But fair enough, I suppose. The game has its rules, we gotta follow them." It did somewhat disappoint her that Pingu would be staying behind, but knew well enough how mischievous the penguin could get, so perhaps it really would be best if she stayed behind. This, she just nodded to Kil. This left her wondering about two things. First, how she'd survive the walk to the areas where the NPC was, and secondly, and more importantly, what her new pet would be like, if she managed to get it. Cats were temperamental creatures, so she definitely wasn't expecting an obedient creature, just someone to keep her company and protect her as she would protect them. Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted October 10 Author #9 Share Posted October 10 He laughed a bit before closing up the entrance and letting them feel the sunlight. Pingu tried but failed trying to slip out. She wasn't able to open these doors with her fins and sunk to the ground with large tears filling her eyes. She knew she was a hassle, but she wanted to be included. He looked at Ty and spoke to her. "It's more like special bait? We just need to lure them out, but it is what it is." He shrugged before walking down the steps and hoping down to the ground. He looked up at her from the bottom. He offered her a smile and made a movement with his head. The two would take their time walking out toward the forest. The gnarled roots were seen well as the canopy of the jungle seemed to form overhead. The humidity rose quickly as they had stepped out of safe zone that prevented some humidity. He changed his outfit to another tank top but with a hood over his head. Shorts were replaced with a pair of cloth pants that would help him fend off the bugs from eating him. He pointed at the traveler who was making her way toward them. "And there she is. She's going to give us what we need but you need to initiate the conversation instead of me. I'm not looking for another familiar. Had Pingu for too long." He looked with a soft smile upon his face.
Typhoonflame 0 Posted October 13 #10 Share Posted October 13 Ty almost felt bad for Pingu, seeing the big tears in her eyes...but she knew it was necessary. The penguin would likely be in more trouble and danger if she were to come along. With an apologetic smile to Pingu, Ty turned and followed Kil down the stairs. "I see, so it's just bait then? That makes more sense." She followed Kil towards the forest, making sure to keep an eye on their surroundings in case she had to come back later on her own. She winced as the humidity suddenly increased, but kept a brave face and trekked on. Ty nodded as they finally found the NPC. "Got it...I'll get to it." She quickly approached the NPC. "Um, hi! I'm Typhoonflame and I heard you had some information regarding familiars in this area? I'd like to get one, if possible." she said, dipping her head to the woman, Even though she was an NPC, Ty never failed to show anyone in this game some respect. The NPCs were in this world before the players, after all.
Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted October 13 Author #11 Share Posted October 13 The traveling gypsy stared at her quietly for a moment with a butterfly in hand. With the approaching girl, she held the butterfly outward and let it fly off to the jungle behind her. A smile washed upon her face upon the new traveling person and looked at her companion. She knew of him remembering of his initial quest. My how he had grown, she thought to herself. With the fleeting memory leaving, she listened contently over to the new player and reached into her bag. "Treat them with respect and they'll do the same. Each has their own personality and own way of relaying their love for their master." The gypsy smiled offering her bait. It would serve her well. "May the gods bless you with luck and a long life." His eyes watched over the woman hand over items needed to Ty. Her respectfulness to the NPC would be notated as he also respected them. They all had unique personalities, and he could only think that they may also be just either a program or based off of someone. He wouldn't risk it and would still save any fleeing NPC from danger. With that moment, he would wave to the traveling gypsy and a smile crossed both their faces. "You ready to do what you need to do? The humidity is a challenge, but I'll keep you safe here against the enemies if any show up." It wasn't a flex, more of a statement that he would do what he had to do to keep his guildmate safe. His eyes stared at her for a moment with a gleam of excitement.
Typhoonflame 0 Posted October 15 #12 Share Posted October 15 Ty was mesmerized by the butterfly for a moment, watching as it flew away. It was amazing how friendly the woman seemed towards it, as if there was some unseen bond between them. She accepted the items from the NPC and nodded. "Of course, I will show them nothing but the utmost respect, ma'am." She dipped her head to her once more, as if trying to prove she was trustworthy. She finally had something to go on, a lead to a better life here. Turning to Kil, she grinned, hoping she looked confident. "Yeah, I think so. My rapier and I are ready too." she added firmly. She'd only fought a few monsters so far, but she knew that she would have to do more than that now, if she meant to keep getting stronger. And that was exactly what she had to do to prove herself useful to her future guild.
Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted October 17 Author #13 Share Posted October 17 His wispy white hair blew slightly from the soft wind that winded through the jungle forest. With their departure, they left the woman behind who had wished them luck. She would have to be there in case they needed to return any extra bait or anything else. Eyes of red washed upon the area as they duo stepped in deeper into the darkened way. The canopy swallowed the light and caused a strange temperature drop, but not enough to drop the humidity. Cooler but still damp. "I'm not sure how far we have to travel but it wouldn't be this close to the entrance. At least I don't think..." He thought for a moment as they continued their way along the roots of the trees. The sounds of wildlife were heard throughout with no real perception as to where they were coming from. They would just have to rely on their senses and luck to get through this. Eyes would glance over at Ty and he would start a conversation with her. "Wanna know something silly? I used my real name as my avatar...I didn't think I'd have to live my life here being called the same thing in reality." Funny part was that she was the second person who knew his name was what he used in reality. He hadn't revealed that secret to anyone. Not even their guild leader. He thought about it before looking at her. "What's your name?" If he was going to stay here for a long time, he would just figure that he would get to know someone.
Typhoonflame 0 Posted October 19 #14 Share Posted October 19 Ty had expected this to take a good while, as finding and catching cats was no easy feat, even with treats and bait involved. She knew that from real-life experiences, but she had to wonder, in the back of her mind, whether the game's mechanics would change how this hunt would go. It was entirely possible. She frowned at Kil's statement, shrugging. "It's probably deeper in, I don't imagine cats would live so close to where humans reside, right?" she wondered aloud. She laughed quietly when he admitted to using his real name as his avatar, trying hard not to disturb any of the more dangerous wildlife here by accident. "I see, that's not that unusual. I've heard rumors that quite a few people do the same thing, but don't admit it. I've been using this username for years, so much so that it's become my online name and almost synonymous with myself. I even call myself Ty sometimes." She chuckled. "I also don't really care if my real name gets revealed, I just used this as a force of habit and because I find it weird when NPCs refer to me by my real name. It's Tara, by the way." She grinned, offering him a hand as a joke. "You can call me whatever you prefer, I don't mind."
Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted October 24 Author #15 Share Posted October 24 The deeper they went; the more light became absorbed by the canopy. It wasn't unusual but still it was enough for them to continue progress with the vision. The obscurity of it all was not impeded by their vision yet. It would only start to go down if they stayed out a later time than imposed. He wouldn't allow them to get too lost since he had already explored most of the terrain anyway. Red hues would lock onto her as he heard her actual name. "Tara..." With his accent in tow, it sounded very stiff as he spoke it aloud. He would have to practice this. He would offer her a smile and gaze upon her lightly while speaking. "A very pretty name." Their little moment was interrupted by rustling. Perhaps his imagination? The wind? He would motion for Ty to check and search the area. He couldn't participate in her own personal quest since he already had Pingu and wasn't replacing her. "Perhaps we wandered in far enough?" With a little luck on her side, he would hope she would be able to find the familiar of her dreams. Or at least, to her standards. He offered her a reassuring smile as he stood there hoping to give her confidence.
Typhoonflame 0 Posted October 24 #16 Share Posted October 24 Ty glanced around as the canopy slowly dimmed the path. She was beginning to worry as she really couldn't function well in the darkness. "Hope we can get back in time..." Her musings were interrupted by Kil trying to pronounce her name. He actually did a pretty good job and she found herself looking at the ground when he said it was pretty. "Heh, thanks, my parents chose well, I guess." The rustling nearby interrupted their conversation and Ty was suddenly on alert, scanning the nearby bushes...However, the rustling stopped soon and Ty sighed. "Seems like whatever it was is gone, eh? Better luck next time, me." She chuckled. After taking one last look around the area, she decided to continue on. There weeree bound to be more creatures nearby, they just had to find them. She just hoped it would happen before it got dark, because she didn't want to trek back home through the night, especially not in a game where anyone could kill you. Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted October 24 Author #17 Share Posted October 24 Whatever had been there, had vanished off of their radar. It was fine. He knew the mechanics of the quest; it would get easier with time spent on it but also relied on luck. He wished he had given her some of his dessert to increase her stat blocks. He sighed softly admitting it. "I forgot to give you some desserts at my shop. They would have at least given you an increase on this part." Unlucky. He pressed his fingers against his nose and pinched the bridge. He took a deep breath and looked at the better side. "At least, we can get to know each other more, Tara." The roots became larger and tall enough for them to just walk under and around. Gaze returned over to her, and he spoke. "Let's see... Let's break the ice a bit more." He said placing both arms behind his back. "If you could have traveled anywhere in the world, where would you have decided to go? And why didn't you do it? For example, I wanted to go to Argentina to see the futbol team but never had a chance because my father never went in that direction." He mused a bit thinking what if he had just gone by himself.
Typhoonflame 0 Posted October 26 #18 Share Posted October 26 Ty just shrugged as the creature vanished. There was nothing she could do about it now. She'd just have to try again. "It's all good, don't worry about it. Maybe the first encounter is bound to be a failure, or it has a really high DC. I don't mind." She patted him on the shoulder sympathetically as he apologized. "I never expected this to be easy at all, in fact, I thought we'd get attacked by monsters or something, So if you ask me, this is going great!" Kil posed an interesting question. Where would she have wanted to go? She furrowed her brow in thought, a hand on her chin as she walked. "Hmmm, I don't know. I used to want to go to Paris when I was a kid, but then I heard it was dirty, so I stopped wanting to. I think it'd be Japan, though. So many cool anime cafes and interesting history to study and witness for myself! The shrines are also amazing, Japan's view on religion with their kami has always fascinated me! Of course, it started with Japanese media, hence why I'm playing a game like this." She chuckled. "
Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted October 26 Author #19 Share Posted October 26 (edited) His face was lost in thought as they continued to traverse the strange terrain once more. It was an interesting thing when she said Japan and he would look over at her. "When we get out of here, I can show you around." He would be all too happy inside if they actually met in real life. He hadn't had a normal friend in quite a while. Not since she left him. Red hues kept going to searching the grid of the landscape in hopes of looking for something. He figured he would also try to locate some items. He sifted through some brush, but nothing came to fruition for him as the hunt continued for her familiar. He brushed his hair back and looked back with a smile crossed his face. "We have cat cafes and various other places you may like." He stretched slightly and stood up walking once more trying to figure out whether or not he would maybe find a chest today. Both hands turned were behind his back and he looked at her walking backward. Spoiler ID: 236720 Roll: 9 +3 fail. No materials Edited October 26 by Kiluia Seiko
Typhoonflame 0 Posted November 1 #20 Share Posted November 1 (edited) Ty chuckled when Kil said he'd show her around Japan. She'd forgotten he was from there. It was kind of hard to keep track of where everyone was from since, in the game world, it didn't really matter. Still, it was a nice offer. "Sure, if I had the money to pay for such a trip." Not to mention, it was hard for her to travel alone, and she wasn't going to impose him by bringing someone else along. "Cat cafes have become a thing in Europe too, however rare they may be." she said, grinning. "Never been to one, though, so I'd be happy to come see one. Asia as a whole is very mysterious to us Europeans, wouldn't you say? It's weird, it's not like we're that different at all." She shook her head in amusement. Sure, there were some cultural differences, but all in all, they weren't that glaring. Edited Friday at 11:57 AM by Typhoonflame
