Acanthus 0 Posted September 29 Author #21 Share Posted September 29 (edited) Acanthus emerged from the shadows, Ajisai pressing firmly into the bandit’s neck. “No sudden movements,” she said calmly. “And I want to see your hands. Slowly.” The man complied with a soft whimper. “If you back away, and you keep walking north, I’ll let you live. You’re lucky I’ll be gone fast enough that you can’t double back in time to sound the alarm. Otherwise, we would not be having the conversation.” “Please. You can’t.” Acanthus was startled by the response. The man nearly sobbed. “This is everything I own. Everything I took from home, everything Uso-Tsuki paid us. I have to save it all to send home. My wife… She thinks I died at sea. The truth is, I couldn’t bear to tell her I left to do what I thought was right. I know that sounds crazy, but you have to hear me out. Uso-Tsuki’s morals can be despicable, but what he wants—” Post Action: Searching for Treasure Chest 234019 | LD 13 + 10. Chest found! Acanthus 0 Posted September 29 Author #22 Share Posted September 29 (edited) Ajisai dug deeper into the man’s neck; his voice died with a whimper. “This chest is mine. Why the game decided to give one stupid little chest an entire backstory is beyond me.” In truth, she was livid. Why couldn’t the chest spawn in the middle of nowhere? What was the point in attaching some useless moral dilemma to it? She returned her attention to the man. “Whether you believe me or not, you never owned this chest. I doubt you even have a wife back home. You didn’t even exist before I landed on this island. So you can either run and give me your life savings, or you can die for it.” You’d like to know what happened, wouldn’t you? Me too. And so would Acanthus. But the truth was, she wasn’t made to handle this violence, and int* ptr = (int*)malloc(sizeof(int)); repressing her memories was only going to get her so far. It was no longer enough to push them to the back of her mind, where she might free them later to accept what she had done. Now, she offered memory after mem printf("Memory Is Insuffficient\n"); ory on the altar of progress, the altar dedicated to escaping the game at any cost. But that altar is hungry. It demands more. The fate X: m=malloc(5); m= NULL; 1: using dangling pointers Y: free(n); n->value=5; 2: using uninitialized pointers Z: char *p; *p = ’a’; 3. lost memory is: of the pleading guard is likely the first of many things she will never remember. At last, she returned to the beach where she left Ben-Goshi. With a silent nod, she hopped into the boat. The sooner they left, the better. Acanthus 0 Posted September 29 Author #23 Share Posted September 29 “I cannot thank you enough,” the Chief stressed again. Acanthus had decided to pay attention this time around. The Chief went on a long-winded monologue about the importance of family, and how he used to regard Uso-Tsuki as a son. All very trite dialogue in Acanthus’ mind. But at least she wasn’t sorting through her inventory instead of listening. “...judging by the plans you have secured, it appears that he wishes to make an attack on the Palace as soon as possible, using his two enforcers to spearhead the assault.” The Chief pleaded with Acanthus, “would you please aid us one more time? Repel his assault, draw Uso-Tsuki out, and allow me to finish him.” Her previous quest was marked as “completed,” granting her rewards. Immediately, the follow-up quest appeared in front of her. It would take her off of her schedule for the day, but she decided that knocking out the quest now would save her the time from coming back. “Sure,” she said, and punched <<Accept>>.
