[PP - F01] Two Beans, One Lesson <<The First Few Lessons>>

Recommended Posts

Bliss stepped out of the inn, stretching her arms to shake off the morning stiffness and letting out a small yawn. Today’s the day, she thought, a little burst of excitement brightening her mood. Cobean and I are finally doing a quest together. She grinned to herself, happy to be making new friends in this strange new world. She had thought about inviting Adelyte too, but worried it might feel like she was intruding on Adelyte’s day.

Hey, Cobean! We’re still on to meet in the Town of Beginnings later, right? I’ve got a quick errand to run at the orphanage, but I’ll be at that cute little café nearby right after. Hopefully I’ll see you then! <3

With a satisfied nod, Bliss made her way to the orphanage, swinging a small bag of supplies that Kiluia had asked her to drop off. The visit was quick, but the smiling kids and warm "thank yous" filled her with a sense of purpose. Once done, she set off toward the café with a spring in her step.

At the café, Bliss found a cozy table by the window and placed an order for her favorites, a creamy hot chocolate and a gooey grilled cheese. She leaned back in her chair, twirling a lock of her hair as she waited for Cobean to arrive, her thoughts drifting between their upcoming quest and the comfort of her new friends.

It wasn’t long before she began imagining all the ways the day might go, maybe they'd run into some interesting creatures, or find hidden treasure. Either way, she was just glad to have company. His company.

With a stretch and a yawn, Cobean was excited to get some questing done for once in his time here. He'd start from the bottom and make his way into being a hero people could tell tales about. Those stories, all their struggles all their reminders of their own humanity, Cobean was well aware of his own limits...not that it would stop him from looking to them as psuedo-role models in this particular case. He always liked playing a Valiant Hero in RPGs, so, maybe he could find a way to be one here as well? Helping people out in their time of need, seeing the smiles and relief of those who he would help...yes, he would spread joy and happiness one day...but enough daydreaming for now, he had to get going! He was going to meet up with Bliss, the beautiful blonde he'd met at a beach party(Why did those memories keep such vivid imagery running through his mind? What was even going on in there? If only he knew why his train of thought kept veering to them...maybe he'll figure it out soon enough and be able to proceed with no further muddling of the mind), and the two would be taking this quest together.

Cobean received a message from Bliss, it was about the meetup the two players had agreed upon. While Bliss mentioned she would be there, she noted how she had a quick errand to run beforehand. Cobean was beaming with anticipation regardless.

Absolutely. See you then!

Content with the short and sweet reply, he sent the message and began making his way over. He would, however, bump into someone along the way. "Agh, sorry about that..." He apologized to the figure he'd accidentally ran into. The figure was wearing a pristine suit of armor(wait, was it Titanium?), complete with a fluttering indigo cape and a horned helm. This figure looked completely unfazed. "Apology accepted, just make sure to keep all your senses alert when navigating crowded environments." The armored figure spoke. Near him was a masked woman with silver hair and red eyes. Despite the color of her hair, the condition of her hair and her figure suggested that she was in her early twenties. She wore a set of what might have been light armor, assuming the choice of heavier metals didn't make it heavy armor for being what it was. While it was merely limited to some mild plating around the torso and the skirt part of the outfit, as well as some elegantly designed pauldrons, the metal in question still appeared to be titanium. She walked over to get a closer look at Cobean. It would seem that she was taller than him, about four inches taller, to be exact. "So, what's gotten you in such a hurry?" The woman asked.
                         Cobean was willing to answer.
"Ah, I'm meeting up with someone to get going with my first quest. No more sitting around, it's time I began working my way to become a hero for the people!"
The two figures looked to each other. "Ellyria, Just let him be on his way, nothing more. Besides, this starry-eyed child can't possibly be any older than fifteen." The fully armored one remarked, oddly dismissively. The woman, however, seemed to have other thoughts in mind. "Starry-eyed? I daresay he is. Regardless of whatever age or appearance he may be, this is a game, and it will be stats and minds that decide the outcome of our various actions." She said to the armored figure, which may have been a subordinate of hers, now that Cobean though about how the woman carried herself. Ellyria looked to Cobean. "What name do you go by, boy?" She asked. "Ah, Cobean. My username is Cobean..." He answered. Ellyria nodded. "So, you believe you have what it takes, Cobean?" She asked. The armored figure looked Cobean up and down. "You sure he's capable just because of the game's nature?" He asked. Ellyria nearly rolled her eyes. "Farix, that has yet to be seen, as he's just starting out. However, I think a little test might do him some good." She remarked. She then looked to Cobean. "Now then, that alley looks nice and empty. I'd like to see your form. Come along now, and it won't be long."
Cobean followed Ellyria. There was this commanding presence within her tone. She definitely had some experience, and Cobean could only hope he wasn't about to be blundering in the dark. The alleyway was fairly lit by the sunlight, visibility was not hindered. "Now then. No challenge necessary, no damage needed, no cursor concerns. Just come at me with your best shot." Ellyria declared. Cobean quickly pulled out his bow, nocked an arrow and drew. He let the arrow fly, and Ellyria deflected the arrow with her sword, using merely a flick of the wrist. Ellyria rushed in with haste and Cobean nearly panicked while readying his next arrow. Once again the shot was deflected with ease, and Cobean would find himself being knocked to the ground. Farix huffed, as though he'd expected this result, while Ellyria helped Cobean back on his feet. Ellyria would get straight to the point. "You have a lot to learn." She began. "For now, a simple tip for your weapon of choice, your best bet is to rely on the element of surprise and to keep your distance, as those will be your only advantages. As soon as a melee fighter gets in close, you're only a few swift strikes from a lethal, crushing defeat." She explained. "Now go on with your quest, but keep the tips in mind, they might just save your life...or someone else's, if that's what you'd prefer."
Cobean thanked Ellyria and left. She was a bit harsh, but she did seem to mean well. Hopefully there would be no further distractions.

Indeed, there would be no further distractions along the way to the Cafe. Perhaps this was a good moment for some comfort food. This place really made some sweet hot chocolate and delicious grilled cheese, just some nice little comforts to ease any worries away...besides, it was a game, so there were no real consequences, no legitimate reason to not treat yourself from time to time. He soon spotted Bliss at a table by a window, and made his way over. "Sorry if I kept you waiting, Bliss." He began with a mild, somewhat sheepish grin. "I kinda bumped into someone along the way here."
He looked to his left and to his right. "I'm feeling like some comfort food right now. I hear this place makes some amazing hot chocolate and grilled cheese, so I think I'll be going for that." He noted as his smile brightened a little.

Cobean had a good feeling about today. He was sure that this quest would go smoothly. Besides, he was going to take the quest with a new friend!

Apologies for the long wait. I should have gotten to this sooner.
