[PP-PT-F01] [ASSIST] Debt Collecting...Again <<The First Few Lessons>>

Oats' legs were spread slightly apart, ready, as she eyed Boarlet #3, just in case it made a move. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Astra landing a blow. "Nice one, Astra!" she called out without taking her eyes off the boarlet. She wouldn't dare to look away. Her real-life training had taught her never to give enemies an opportunity. They faced each other for a good while, like two gunslingers in a wild west showdown. The boarlet's huffs grew angrier as it saw another one of its kind injured by Astra. It howled and began its charge. Oats waited for the right moment to time her jump. Now. She leaped into the air and swung her sword for a downward strike.

Argh! The boarlet anticipated Oats' move and dodged sideways. Her sword found nothing but empty grass below. Her side was now wide open to the boarlet. How did this happen?? She slipped and failed her training. If her drill sergeant were here now, he’d be yelling at her. Probably riddling her with a hundred paintballs. Okay, a hundred might be an exaggeration, but you get the point. This isn't good.

Boarlet #3 was supposed to be scattered in bright blue gem shards by now. It only had 1 HP left. It wasn't supposed to stay alive this long.

"Okay. Focus," she whispered to herself.

"I think they're doing pretty well so far," Wulfrin said to himself as he continued to swat away boarlets that desperately tried to attack him. "Remember you each only need three each. The tranquilizers can help if you have an opening as they will immediately knock them unconscious."

Pesky things stood no chance at that though. The downside was they were out pacing his battle healing, so at some point Wulfrin would likely have to clear the field. Not an ideal scenario, as it would actually slow them down, but at the very least it would allow him the chance to recover. Wulfrin had brought up the tranquilizers for a good reason, Oats and Astra did not have the capability to kill their targets in one blow. The mental calculations Wulfrin was running after observing the equivalent of a critical hit from Oats and a standard attack from Astra was all the evidence he needed. It was possible they would be done rather soon, but in the moment, the odds weren't looking great.

"Once my HP hits 10 or less," Wulfrin called out. "I'll be wiping the field so I can recover."

Siren clapped enthusiastically as Astra's attack landed, her face lighting up with pride. "I knew you could do it, sugar!" She cheered, her voice ringing with encouragement. Turning to Oats, who's attack attempt had missed, she called out, "Don't worry honey. You'll get 'em next time! I know it!" Her unwavering support was like a warm hug, keeping morale high despite the chaos around them.

Now it was her turn. Siren adjusted her grip on her rapier, her movements as fluid and poised as ever. She darted toward her target, blade once again shimmering in the sunlight as she aimed for a decisive strike. This boarlet proved quicker than she anticipated, skidding sideways just in time to avoid her attack. Being mid-strike, she was caught off guard and slipped, landing hard on her back with a soft grunt.

Before Siren could fully recover, the boarlet seized the opportunity, wheeling around and charging at her with wild abandon. Siren's instincts kicked in, her hands shooting out just as the creature’s tusks came within reach. With a determined grip, she grabbed onto the tusks and let out a small laugh, adrenaline coursing through her veins. "Oh, no you don't!" She exclaimed as the boarlet thrashed in an attempt to shake her off. Instead of panicking, Siren pulled herself up and straddled the creature's back like a seasoned rodeo rider. "Alright, darlin', if you wanted to dance, you just had to ask!" She quipped at the boar, her voice laced with playful confidence. 

The scene was chaotic, totally comical, as the boarlet bucked and twisted, trying to dislodge her. Siren turned to her companions and with a bright, almost mischievous smile. "I'm good! This is nothing!" She called out, waving one hand in mock triumph like a performer reveling in the spotlight, the good old days.

[Astra 0]

The encouragement from Oats and Siren helped invigorate Astra has he faced off with his first boarlet. He could see out of the corner of his eye that Siren had gone to strike the boar with her rapier, but unfortunately had ended up missing. Next thing he knew, Siren was straddling the boarlet and riding it as if it was a (smaller) mechanical bull at a rodeo. Astra couldn't help but let out a chuckle at the sight of his companion on top of the boarlet. "Keep it up Siren! You've got this!" 

He had hoped his words of encouragement would do the same for his friends as theirs did for him. Focusing back on the boarlet in front of him, Astra furrowed his brow and readjusted his feet in the grass. His stance was open, but still guarded, with his sword down at his side. The boarlet in front of him squealed and reared itself on its hind legs, as if it was letting out a battle cry for itself and its comrades. This piece of ham didn't shake Astra one bit, it was time to strike it again and get closer to finishing this. After that he had two more boars left to kill before they were done. 

Astra ran towards the posturing boarlet, and the boarlet ran at him in return. As it got closer to Astra leapt into the air and began to twist his body, swinging his sword around with him. His body twirled in the air as his sword arced down in a diagonal slash. Just like that he was able to damage the boarlet once more, leaving behind one of those damaging marks. The boarlet let out a squeal and skidded some ways away from Astra. On the ground once more, Astra could see that his opponent was close to death, where it would combust into a spray of glowing shards before leaving Aincrad forever. 

"Alright, almost there. Time to end this."

[Wulfrin 0]

Wulfrin was doing his best "tank" impression, though his lack of hate generating skills was making it a bit difficult. He wished he could At least soften up the boars but his kit made that basically impossible. Even bare knuckle punching them would deal more damage to them once you factored in all his skills, so he was stuck occasionally flicking his wrist to cause another puff of pollenated pheromones to fill the air. At least it was keeping the boars off the newbies and by now he had the full attention of the boars still on the field. They needed to wrap this up quickly though. This quest was already taking longer than Wulfrin had expected, and there was still one more section to come after.

"Doing great team!" Wulfrin encouraged. "Siren! If you get your last one, focus on denting the bars of the other boars so Astra can one shot them!"

Siren's last attempt had ended in a comical disaster that looked more like rodeo antics than combat finesse. Clinging to the boarlet's tusks as it charged wildly, she did her best to steady herself. Alright, alright, I've got this. She thought, although the boarlet beneath her had other plans.

Her voice rang out over the chaos as she spotted Astra landing a successful hit on his own boar. "I'm so proud of you Astra! I knew you had it in you darlin'!" She shouted with enthusiasm, her southern lilt adding a musical quality to her praise. Her pride was genuine, even as she struggled to keep her grip on the bucking creature beneath her.

It was around that time when Wulfrin, ever the practical strategist, yelled out for Siren to take out her own boar and then help Astra take out his. Siren nodded, determination setting her jaw as she adjusted her grip on her rapier. "You got it! I'll do my damndest, honey." She called out, though her situation was less than ideal. The boar thrashed violently, nearly unseating her. Summoning all her focus, she raised her sword to strike. But the boarlet had other plans. With a sharp buck, it launched her into the air, sending her tumbling unceremoniously to the ground. She hit the dirt hard, rolling a few times before coming to a stop, her rapier clattering beside her.

"Fucking, ow." She groaned, lying on her back for a moment to catch her breath. The world spun slightly, but the squealing of the boarlets brought her back to her senses. She sat up, brushing dust and debris from her armor. Her ponytail had come loose, strands of pink hair falling around her face, "Well, that could've gone worse." She muttered, spitting out some dirt.

Even though the boarlets weren't striking back at the swordsman just yet, the exhilaration of the battle still sent a rush of blood to Astra's head. The boarlet stood in front of him, squealing wildly, covered in slashes and matted fur. One more good slash or strike was all that was needed to finish this thing off, and then Astra could turn his attention to the other boars so he could collect those tusks. His feet were planted firmly in the grass, ready to switch and move at a moments notice to deliver the final blow. No matter how small and miniscule this mob seemed to be, Astra's focus was solely on him and this boar. 

Time to end this! 

Astra pushed off of his back foot and rushed towards the boarlet in front of him. He gripped his sword with both of his hands, pulling his arms back to deliver a powerful blow to the mob. As he got closer to his enemy, he pushed off of his foot one more and dashed at the enemy, thrusting his sword forward right into its form. His sword plunged into the boarlet, and hung there for a moment. There was a confident and resolute look in the swordsman's sky blue eyes. With that, the boarlet erupted and shattered into small fragments of light, as it disappeared into the binary ether. Finally, Astra was able to take one of these things down and get that much closer to completing his quest. Maybe these first steps were possible all along. 

"Alright, one down! Let's keep this up."

At this point Wulfrin was doing little more than occasionally waving a flower in the air attempting to keep the boars' attention focused solely on him. His only goal was to ensure these players did not fall to the mobs that had claimed so many player lives in the early days of the game, they even scared him at one point. The attractant produced by the Nepent Ovule was a suitable substitute for his lack of hate drawing skills. He was no tank, in fact quite the opposite. Sure he could take a few hits, but he didn't have the mitigation to be drawing any unnecessary hate.

"Perhaps I should take cloth armor," Wulfrin mumbled to himself as he continued to be an unmovable wall for the remaining boars. "Then I could max out my evasion stat and really have some fun playing DPS and Tanking as an EVA build. Though as it stands I don't really have equipment for that right now. Maybe Freyd has a few suggestions. I'll have to ask once the raid is over."

Wulfrin's attention snapped back to the combat before him as Siren was toppled from her mount.

"Keep it up y'all!" He encouraged. "Just a few left!"

Astra watched as Siren was thrown from the back of the boar, hitting the ground with a thud. "You okay Siren?" She seemed like she took the fall well, but there was still concern in his voice. Thankfully Wulfrin was doing a great job at holding most of the boars' attention, leaving room for the others to make their attacks. 

Turning his attention to the already weakened boar nearby, Astra planned out his next strike. From the looks of the damage the boarlet had sustained, one good hit could take it out and provide him with more of the tusks he needed. With his sword readied and poised, he started his movements towards his new target. The boarlet had noticed the player by now, and began to push from its hooves with a strong momentum. 

Astra swung his blade in an upwards motion, hoping to slash the boarlet and ended once and for all. However, right as he swung his sword, the charging boarlet narrowly dodged the blade, ending up behind the rookie swordsman. "Dammit!" Astra turned on his heels to face the boarlet once more. These things were pretty nimble for boars. They were pretty fierce, too. There's a reason why some newer players in Aincrad weren't able to make it past them. Nonetheless, this boar couldn't run forever. Astra let out a small huff of air, and planned his next attack.
