[BR-F28] Paving the Way to Floor 29 [Team 1: Yuki]

Yuki would quickly find herself overwhelmed with the situation. Mist would roll in and the group would quickly lose each other despite how much attention she was paying attention to her group. The paladin sighed and did her best to use her searching powers but it only helped her to see the furry mass that would soon snatch her away.

The paladin struggled to free her spear arm. "くそ。。。” The paladin would curse under her breath. "Night! Ariel! Anyone?! I could use a hand here! One that isn't furred and clawed!" The pinkette would yell out hoping that anyone would come to her rescue but she wasn't sure if they could hear her calls for help. She knew Night would be calm though and help her somehow.

The fuzzy bear was beginning to feel like no pushover but the frontlines still had seen more perilous. The Shadow had given her nightmares for weeks and she was sure that even still there were frontliners who had seen worse. All that to say that her confidence in the others was very high.

The changes that the lone bear was taking seemed to make it more and more a being of the undead.  Heck, maybe they were right in the meeting that they would be facing something not alive.  Though, that didn't really help them in this run of things.  Callisto was rotting as it went and it seemed that the boss' arena was starting to warp and change with it.  The earth around them seemed to shift as dark red vines would seem to enwrap themselves around them.  They seemed to have quite a bit of razor bit to them, as if they had a form of thorns or such.  Though, as everyone moved, it did not seem that they were being hurt when they tried to attack the mist covered monster, even more so as it pulled Yuki and two of the other parties players.

Hirru tried to push Fate's Armament to where Yuki was pulled into.tothinkfatecanbecommandedsuch  The ring on his finger was burning even more now, and for some reason, it felt like it was growing into the rest of his fingers.  If it worked, it would be like Yuki's own shield would glow too, and they would be able to see it.  If not.. they had more problems to tend to.learnyourlessonwellchildofluck  He would have to deal with whatever the vines and a possible heavy healing into Yuki's heavily armored arse.

CALLISTOHPBAR_R7.pngThe beast’s growl rolled like thunder, its thick fur bristled beneath the swirling tendrils of mist. Gore, and something altogether unworldly oozed from cuts in the bear’s hide. If the wounds caused any pain, or if the creature noticed them at all, it gave no indication. Instead, it continued to grapple with the captured Players, its yellowed teeth glinting in the faint light. Paws the size of dinner plates swatted at the ensnared humans, razor-sharp nails skipping along veins that could be easily cut and drained. 

Shifting its enormous weight forward, Callisto moved on the first of its victims. The pink-haired paladin called out for help, and the bear met her cry with one of its own - low, guttural, and only inches from her face. Warm breath that stank of sulfur washed over Zajcica’s face, and globs of spit hung from the boss’ parted jaws. It gave no other warning before it went for her throat, only to be swatted back by the appearance of another barrier.

Furious vines retracted back into the ground, like wounded snakes slithering back into the deepest parts of their den. However, they would not depart that simply, not without claiming a prize. Gripping tightly at the scattered remains of whatever long gone adventurer it could find. Corpses still adorned in their battered armor dragged through the dirt haphazardly, without care for the delicate nature of death or the legacy this warrior may have had. The remains were pulled into the jagged tooth-like maw that was the splintered earth, which, in return, belched out a cloud of putrid spores. They hovered in the air like swarming gnats before descending upon Callisto. Where the fungus seemed to land on the bear's dark and matted fur, wounds inflicted by the players seemed to close ever so slightly.

Lair action Descriptions:
Blooming Decay | LD 1-5 | Callisto will regenerate 1% of his maximum hitpoints at the start of his next turn, when this occurs this effect ends. This buff can be removed before Callisto's turn if Burn is applied/refreshed by your party.
Nature's Fury | LD 6-10 | At the start of Callisto's next turn, all players are inflicted with bleed 2. If this would refresh an existing bleed, the entire damage is dealt before refreshing. This effect is removed when your party uses their post actions to make a culminative LD (Nimble + Evasion Modifier) roll of 30 to free themselves from their binds and assist their team.
Stride the Spirit Realm | LD 11-15 | While Callisto has this buff, his evasion is set to 10 and the first successful attack does not deal damage. After the first successful attack, this buff is removed (i.e., successive attacks will deal damage and his evasion is reset to its normal amount). In addition, while under the effects of Stride the Spirit Realm, all activated Accuracy bonuses (Rally, Concentration, etc.) provide double the normal accuracy modifier during player's attacks.
Addled Memory | LD 16-20 | Harrowing sounds of old drown out deeper thoughts, your party can no longer use items until the start of Callisto's next turn. The paladin would finally struggle free, something she may have had trouble with if not for Hirru's barrier. Thanks to that help she was able to wait out the grapple and land a little clumsily on the ground. She would cough out the damp fur and disgusting smell of Callisto's breath from her lungs, not that it helped too much with the current environment but still. "Don't worry, holding on is my specialty." The paladin will yell out to Hirru. "Thanks for the help though, I'm free now! A few more rounds of attacks and he'll be finished. Keep up the pressure!"

Yuki's lance would glow pink as it charged into the bear's skin without hesitation. The satisfying critical effect that appeared before her got her smile really beaming. Her damage meant hardly anything in the grand scheme of things. She was sure that Mina or Ariel had done more damage with a single attack than all of her collective attacks combined. However, the fat steel ass that she was would see them fighting forever at this point and that was the major strategy her build implied - Being a wall that cannot be breached.

the best way to track down a tank would be to get in close. in the dark, that's what night was doing -- sword in hand swiping at callisto as it got too close for comfort, and then came yuki's voice, to help her navigate in the dark.

"yuki?! where are you?"

there had to have been that snarl, the attempted bite from the bear itself, and yet no deepening of color from her health bar ever came at the corner of her screen. hirru's barrier was working. night moved in, then, guessing at where her paladin friend was going to be -- not that callisto would mind. it already had its sights turned onto the other parties. when she found yuki, it was all night could do to help her up.

"just like the twenty-fifth all over again," she remarked, directing her attention back to the bear in the abyss. "it'll be fine. we only have to hold out a little more."

Violet watched as the vines finally seemed to retract away from them, the lashing tendrils inflicting bleed onto most of their team - save for herself and Hirru. The furry mantle on her shoulders had absorbed the bloody mess, dissipating it before the effect could even take hold.

The others weren't as lucky, though.

"Stay strong everyone! Just two and a quarter left, and then this guy's down for the count!" she shouted, hurling ember forward once more. Their hard work wasn't in vain, they just had a little bit more to work through. Just a little more! "Hirru, just try to keep us all topped off, alright? We have to stay healthy during this last part!" Her energy hadn't waned too much, thankfully. Violet reached forward, her hand easily closing over the handle of Ember as it returned to her. All they had to do was make sure that they lasted just a bit longer, and then this would be a celebratory tale told over a fire.

And over a tasty meal, to boot!

Vines sprouting from the murky depths, wrapping around the entire party. Then, she felt the barbs dig into her own flesh as the tendrils dug in wherever her armor showed a hint of weakness. Knives on every inch of her skin, dragging themselves slowly and deliberately. Fake blood dripped from artificial gashes in her skin, mingling with the foul water. But all she felt was a familiar buzz.

If Cardinal wanted me to take this seriously, it should have programmed my wounds to hurt.

Acanthus reached down for the vines constricting her left leg, and with a single, savage pull, ripped them off her body. Her health bar dropped with a violent shake. No need to preserve health; she need only concerned herself with mobility. The remaining vines tightened around her midsection and neck, causing her vision to blur momentarily. But they moved with her—and that was all that mattered.

Back in melee with the boss, Acanthus hacked. Her chest heaved with the effort, and she thought her heart might burst, but her pain indicators gave her something new to focus on. Slash after slash, Acanthus fought with an almost manic fervor. Press, up, left, swipe down—then she pivoted around the bear as it whirled, focused on the other fighters. Ignoring the persistent buzz and darkening water, she moved again to the boss’ flank, preparing Wilting Higanbana.

Ariel moved swiftly through the chaos, the sickly mist clinging to her skin as the roars of Callisto echoed across the decayed battlefield. The beast was massive, its relentless attacks scattering the players like leaves in a storm, but Ariel’s focus remained razor-sharp. The cursed blade in her hands burned with Nihilim’s fire, the shadowy flames flickering and twisting as if feeding on her will.

She darted toward the boss as Yuki’s pink spear briefly stunned the creature, her eyes locked on the massive wound in its shoulder. The ichor seeping from its hide reeked of decay, but Ariel pressed forward, her boots splashing through the foul muck beneath her.

The vines that had assaulted the party moments ago retreated, and Callisto’s wounds seemed to heal in the wake of the putrid spores, but Ariel didn’t falter. “A minor setback...” she muttered, her voice drowned out by the cacophony of battle.

Channeling every ounce of her dwindling energy, Ariel lunged forward with an explosive burst of speed. Her katana flashed in a wide arc, the cursed flames roaring to life as they connected with Callisto’s flank. The impact sent a plume of dark fire crackling across the beast’s fur, the searing energy leaving behind jagged blackened scars.

Landing deftly a few paces away, she steadied herself, her breathing heavy. Her MP bar flashed in her peripheral vision—nearly depleted now, but still enough to keep going. She adjusted her grip on the hilt, the dark flames licking hungrily along the blade.

Just a little longer...” she murmured under her breath, her gaze locked onto the corrupted beast.

The vines dug into them all, as they knew that they would.  The sting would be felt and the bleed would be seen through everyone, except two.  The golden fur that wrapped around the shoulders of Mina and Hirru were there to shoulder the burden put upon them.  They would not yield to any barbs nor thorns that would wish to take from them their life's water.  Though that did not mean that the others would be in woe either.  Yuki was quick to process a heal for them all, but there was still much to take care of.

"We're breaking through its waste and filth!  Ariel!  Take these and keep yourself going for as long as possible!"

Hirru would shout out as he would try to pass by the Chaos Sister; a hand out to them to share a form of light:  three glowing rings.  Each would rotate around the targets left arm for some time, before being absorbed whenever they perform any energy consuming action.  He would take care of his team for however long he could.  He just hoped that the others were doing well.  He could have sworn someone had.. been spirited away.

 The husks of impossibly tall trees, enshrouded in rot and decay, seemed to curl inwards, as if peering down to spectate the climax of this epic battle. The sickening sounds of creaking, splitting wood accompanied the cacophony of blades crashing and the thrumming of heavy footfalls from the massive beast they sought to fell. 

It was not Callisto that was the first to fall, as the entity had sworn to itself.

Many more would follow in the player’s footsteps, the crushing wight of Callisto atop of them being the last they would feel as the last breath of desperate air left their lungs. 

Pushing itself onto its hind legs, the massive embodiment of the corruption of the wood would let out a piercing wail, unlike any a typical bear would make. While no discernable words left its toothy maw, there was malice behind its roar.

It mocked their comrade as the player’s body faded into nothing but shattered data before their very eyes.

After the boss’ rolls, a player was meant to die. Their health hit 0, and by the rules established and understood by our community for years, that would typically be the end of a character’s life. However, a request was brought up by another member of the player in question’s party if we would allow them to take the full brunt of the boss’ attack, sparing the player originally meant to die, and sacrificing themselves instead. 

Their arguments proved that it would make sense narratively, both within the raid thread and their own story. So after a couple of days of discussion with the players in question and the rest of staff, we have decided to approve their request. 

There will be a formal update that makes this mechanic available to all players in future raid parties soon.

Their attempt to soothe failed, at the hands of these warriors who disturbed their grove. They would feel the wrath of corrupted nature of this wood. Bursting forth once more, the prickled vines flailed about wildly. They lashed out like serpents, swinging with terrifying force at the players who dared to invade. Each vine moved with an eerie sentience, anticipating their every step, forcing them to dodge and parry as if engaged in battle with living weapons. Thorns that burst forth from the bark as sharp as blades, able to cut deep past the thickest of armor. The ground quaked under the weight of the relentless assault as if the grove itself sought to consume all intruders.

Lair action Descriptions:
Blooming Decay | LD 1-5 | Callisto will regenerate 1% of his maximum hitpoints at the start of his next turn, when this occurs this effect ends. This buff can be removed before Callisto's turn if Burn is applied/refreshed by your party.
Nature's Fury | LD 6-10 | At the start of Callisto's next turn, all players are inflicted with bleed 2. If this would refresh an existing bleed, the entire damage is dealt before refreshing. Stride the Spirit Realm | LD 11-15 | While Callisto has this buff, his evasion is set to 10 and the first successful attack does not deal damage. A whisper, a promiseA Vow.

Life was fleeting, ever so delicate.

From a very, very young age, Violet had been taught that. Living in and out of a clinic her entire life, that was a fact that came easily to her. Humans were fragile, fickle creatures. Sometimes they can be powerful, strong enough to lift up a car to spare their child, enough to hold back the grasping, gnashing teeth of a beast trying to kill them. Sometimes, though, they were as fragile as spun glass. A blade ghosting across one's throat, a terrible fall, skin grinding against pavement.

A single Bullet to the heart

Yes, Life was fleeting.

"If you're hungry, I can treat you to dinner with some friends if you'd like?" words so chipper, soft and happy. Spoken with excitement and hope for a future that might never come. The cheerful banter that her friends had made during the pre-raid preparations, making fun of the bosses that they'd fought in the past, of the bosses that were to come. After all, none of them could fathom that they'd lose one of their own. The chorus of her teammates agreeing, and offering up suggestions of their own.

The banter that spoke of happier times, of happier moments. The jokes that she'd shared with the pre-raid farming teams, mostly at the expense of themselves or the enemies that they were fighting. It was so happy.

Violet knew that humans were fragile... and yet, why did..?

"No one dies today, ...or we'll have words."

It was too good to be true, wasn't it?

Why did this hurt so much?

Her team had been spared, Callisto's Gnashing teeth and crushing claws ghosting past Yuki, as it struggled to focus in on her. Team 3 was fine, Koga taking a meaty blow from Callisto, who had turned to them with a bellow. but everyone else was spared, nobody else on their team taking a hit. Team 4 was fine, Jomei easily moving out of the grasp of the boss as it swung wildly at them all.

Poor Wulfrin hadn't even seemed to react the moment the boss had let out its wail, the entirety of their group getting blasted with madness and pain. But, as Callisto had moved in for the kill... it seemed that one, particular person had reacted. Had been the only to react in time. Nobody else was fast enough, and he probably knew it.

The desperate, but calculated movements of Freyd reaching for Wulfrin, the red-cloaked player still stunned in disbelief at what appeared to be his ending. The last chapter in his life. Violet knew that she would never make it, a desperate cry burgeoning in her throat as she reached for a dead man walking. A dead man that had just learned how to live again.

"Like Roman concrete -- we're built to heal in the wake of adversity. The fractures that rack us aren't our weakness, they're a formula to make us stronger." Elora's words echoed in her mind, as her heart began to break anew. "He appeared when he was needed, driving home a point of understanding that neither of us could convey on our own"

Yes, she would never be able to understand it. At times she had been glad to be born with a heart, one that was lively and beat to the rythm of those around her. A tempo that made her feel alive. But now, in this very instant, as she screamed in pain, as it shattered like freshly spun sugar-glass...

oh how she wished that she couldn't feel a thing.

A gentle, genuine smile as they shared stories over a fishing trip, opening up about shared pain. Laughter as they watched their familiars acting up, their usual antics eliciting the expected response. A grieving shadow brought into the light, a moment of joy spent in the shards of a mending psyche.

You liar.

Sharing a piping hot plate of stew, talking about each other's lives in earnest, laughing at silly jokes. The promise of going fishing in the desert, to try and catch one of the fabled fish that could be found in the desert sea, the land where Terra Firma spawned. Guiding a set of newer players through a quest, luring out the aforementioned sand shark with reckless abandon - and oh god had it been so much fun. Tears spilled down her cheeks as she wailed. Once again, this world had taken someone precious to her.

"FREYD NOOOOO!!!"

Without a moment's hesitation, she sprang forward, completely ignoring the rest of her team as she sprinted towards the boss. Tears still spilling down her cheeks as the grief was snapped up, swallowed whole by the visceral feeling of Rage that overcame it. Leaving nothing but someone who craved, no, DEMANDED blood as payment. Ember seemed to glow white hot, what looked like tears of molten silver dripping from its edge.

Almost like it knew that its maker had been slain, and was grieving right alongside its wielder.

With a sound akin to a dying animal, Violet snapped the bladed fan shut, before slamming its serrated edges into Callisto with reckless abandon. It wasn't going to win, not if she had anything to say about it. Her eyes were wild with rage, but the bright ember that flickered within had been snuffed out like a candle. A pool of darkened crimson, much like a pool of drying blood.

"YOU PIECE OF SHIT, I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!!"

a shriek ear-piercing cut through the dark. it was enough for night to flinch, wincing, a hand held up to her ear. was that mina? her health hadn't sunk lower than expected. what had happened? then she heard a rally cry from a voice deeper than the one she just heard. mac?

it took time for her to realize that one of their own had fallen. faster still was her sword arm, plunging her blade into callisto's supposed hide, because in the darkness it was hard to tell who else was around, and harder still to believe that a player was dead. if that were the case, she'd see his absence with her own two eyes. just a moment ago night had been telling yuki all they needed was a little more time to tide over the raid towards their victory. it had only been moments since then.

only a solemn understanding of what had to be done paralleled that emerging sense of regret -- freyd signed up as a tank. he knew the risks, and night would make sure she herself wasn't going to be delivered to the same end.

She always knew that this could happen. The moment that she heard Mina's voice echo from behind her with the the name of a cherished friend, Yuki's pink hair would have been akin to a whip with the speed she turned to witness the ongoing death of one of those people. For a moment, she froze. Time stood still to her.

Cold washed over her and suddenly she was back on floor 4 with a really under-geared Freyd. He bowed in front of her with sincerity and spoke: "Thanks Yuki, for offering to help me.  I have a long way to go, but I plan to work hard to get better.  You've opened my eyes to what is possible, and that's more valuable than any item.  I'm extremely grateful." The Paladin stood in awe as reality faded back to rear it's ugly head.

'I inspired him to be here. I brought him to this battlefield... What do I do? I-I can't do anything...' Tears welled in the girl's eyes. 'Freyd! I'm sorry! This time... I'm the one who's useless...'

Sadness quickly turned to anger though. The spear user, raised her weapon and led the charge. "Quick! Take the aggro away from Freyd's team! If we allow Callisto to rampage now it's going to be a blood bath!" She would try to get her team organized without upsetting them. Freyd would want her to protect everyone she can... even if she'd failed at that.

“Got you!” Acanthus bounded in, unleashing Wilting Higanbana one more time. As she finished the combo, a strange, anxious—and horribly familiar—feeling washed over her. Acanthus blinked, and she was nine again.

“Dad… What’s wrong?”

Acanthus blinked, back in the moment. She fell back, regrouping with the team she had been neglecting, and began to assess the situation. Something had spurred the frontliners forward. Macrodon was shouting directions and oaths like a general on the frontlines of Armageddon. Vague figures, distorted in the deathly fog, charged with a reckless disregard. Mina was a scarlet blur, her weapon leaving molten silver tears on the mire.

Then, Freyd; silent as death, he rushed past without so much as disturbing the water. The cowl over his head hid his features, but his open stance and focused charge invoked a fierce spirit of vengeance. Vengeance for what, exactly?

Acanthus shivered as the Whisper passed by. His blade radiated a mist that froze the waters, cracking and separating as he ran forward. Wait, freezing? No, not Freyd. It was Wulfrin. From underneath the cowl, Acanthus caught his eyes glowing with unnatural intensity. In the reflection of Icingdeath’s glow, they flashed blue (mischievous yet careworn). For a brief second, Wulfrin was the mirror image of his mentor.

Freyd must be elsewhere in the shadows then. He was a titan of the frontlines, and she knew that to be more than tall tales of inspiration. Acanthus had seen his capabilities first hand during the sharkbait training program.  If he could take on Terra Firma single-handedly without so much as a scratch, then it would take more than one hit to kill him.

What do you think of when time stands still?  When the world just seems to slow down to the point where even your thoughts don't seem to respond just right.  There is something there, but it just doesn't seem to fit just quite right.  It's almost like there is something that is pushing between the thoughts and what should be.  Was this what the others call 'lag'?  Though, that could not quite be what was truly happening.  It was almost as if there was a cra/ck that could not be seen.  In-between that crack, was only a split second, before it was gone.

Ringing from the roar once more.  Hirru could only shield his head once more, like before.  Though, there was something differ/ent about it.   It wasn't directed at them.  He'd heard it happen a few times before to the other teams.  So why was different?  Why was it so deafening?!  Why w//as it.. that he could hear something cracking.

Shattering..

The next thing he could hear was screaming.  So much screaming.  First it was Mina, then it was a voice farther away.  M/a\c?  What is everyone shouting about?  What is going on with everyone?  Hirru lowered his shield to be met with..

There was something missing.  Someone missing even.  He thought it was only a something off.  That someone got sp//irited awa\\y or were teleported away.  That sound from earlier.  It couldn't have been.

The words pass his lips, but they are nothing more than a whisper.  The beast was still there, taunting them.  The vines were back, ready to bleed his team once more.  There was no time to grieve.  There was no time to think.  All there was time for, was to let go of what was in his hand. 

A single seed.

Falling from his hand, the seed would implant itself into the rotting and horrid ground.  The vines would give way to the blessing, as the hunter would step forward a bit.  There would be a slight rumble before nature would take form.  A tree of decent size would quickly grow from where the seed sprouted.  A large trunk being enraptured by the red vines that protruded from the group too.  It too would quickly die from the poison and corruption there, but it would keep them safe for the time beings.  It's leaves falling upon them all to shelter them from the future blows again them.

"..I..will not stand for this.."

Another one lost to him, before he could even tell him what he meant to him.  How he pulled the hunter out of many a rough mindset and brought him into being more himself.  That he didn't have to force himself to become something new, when the way he was was good enough.  His role to play was more than just fighting or healing.  He was more than that.

The moment Mina’s anguished cry pierced the dark, Ariel paused, her blade hovering mid-swing. For a heartbeat, the battlefield's chaos dulled, muffled by the oppressive weight of that singular voice. She didn’t turn. Didn’t flinch. She didn’t need to see what had transpired. The finality in the sound told her everything.

Another one falls.

Her grip on Nihilim’s Wrath tightened, the blackened steel responding with an eerie glow, shadow flames licking hungrily at the mist-choked air. This wasn’t unexpected. Freyd was capable—had been capable. She had recognized that much about him in their few interactions. He wasn’t supposed to be the one to go down, and yet…

A sigh escaped her lips, audible only to herself amidst the cacophony. It wasn’t born of grief or despair; she had no room for such indulgences, they still had a job to do. It was frustration—at the inefficiency of this group, at the predictability of their weakness, and perhaps, just faintly, at the loss of a capable ally.

Her gaze snapped back to the lumbering mass of Callisto, its grotesque form towering, mocking. The roiling corruption that oozed from its wounds seemed to pulse in time with the despair of those around her, feeding on it. The boss reveled in their chaos.

Fools... all of us. Ariel muttered under her breath.

With precise, practiced steps, she surged forward, bypassing the writhing vines that lashed out blindly. The faint flicker of her health bar’s movement as one grazed her shoulder went unnoticed. She had no time for distractions.

Her Katana ignited in full as Ariel leapt, the cursed weapon thrumming in the blonde's hands like a predator scenting blood. With one fluid motion, she drove it deep into Callisto’s flank. Black flames erupted in an instant, consuming flesh and fur alike, their heatless inferno crawling unnaturally across its body.

Ariel didn’t linger to admire her work. She pivoted, wrenching the blade free in a spray of corrupted ichor. The shadow flames clung to Callisto, spreading rapidly, leaving its left side charred and exposed, blackened bone visible beneath.

A series of growls and snarls, impossibly violent from a creature that should've long been dead followed the emergence of that figure from beyond Cardinal's grasp. Vengeance followed in its every step, the beast slack-jawed, impetuous, rampaging across the night-clad bowl. Once, then twice, it became obvious a certain sort of impatience, frenzy had enveloped its prerogative. Callisto's swings, however wide and impactful, only grazed air, its form flickering, blades of color dragged off its hide for a second longer than it had existed within the area. Hues shifted in aberration, and the world fixed Callisto in place as though to reconsolidate its errors from the past. None of it worked. Only one fortunate brandish of its claws snapped to its destination sooner than expected had caught on a mark.

Left to pace hysterically at the center of the bowl, its once cruel barks started to fade into labored releases. Slowed, it almost looked as though the corpse was trapped, desperate, but nonetheless defiant.

A frenzy of mangled vines continued to rip and tear into the players. With intent to maim, crush, kill - all of Callisto's rage seeped into nature itself like a venomous poison. An extension of the deformed bear itself, the grove's champion now had extra reach to occupy the intruders. Sharpened barbs climb upon ankles and slink themselves through slips in armor with ease. An earthen smell and a puncture of the skin confirms they were about to be dragged to the ground, a wench to remove these wretched invaders from the strength to stand. The gentle ticks of bars as the near insignificant damage would foreshadow something much greater to come. Rooted by the very roots they had trampled upon, bundled and ready to be delivered to the overseer's waiting maw. Those players would have but a moment or two to see themselves free, else the teeth upon their skin would begin to chew.

Lair action Descriptions:
Blooming Decay | LD 1-5 | Callisto will regenerate 1% of his maximum hitpoints at the start of his next turn, when this occurs this effect ends. This buff can be removed before Callisto's turn if Burn is applied/refreshed by your party.
Nature's Fury | LD 6-10 | At the start of Callisto's next turn, all players are inflicted with bleed 2. If this would refresh an existing bleed, the entire damage is dealt before refreshing. This effect is removed when your party uses their post actions to make a culminative LD (Nimble + Evasion Modifier) roll of 30 to free themselves from their binds and assist their team.
Stride the Spirit Realm | LD 11-15 | While Callisto has this buff, his evasion is set to 10 and the first successful attack does not deal damage (Status effects will still apply). After the first successful attack, this buff is removed (i.e., successive attacks will deal damage and his evasion is reset to its normal amount). In addition, while under the effects of Stride the Spirit Realm, all activated Accuracy bonuses (Rally, Concentration, etc.) provide double the normal accuracy modifier during player's attacks.
Addled Memory | LD 16-20 | Harrowing sounds of old drown out deeper thoughts, your party can no longer use items until the start of Callisto's next turn. This effect is removed when your party uses their post action to make a culminative LD (Searching + Detect + Trinket + Food) roll of 30 to shake themselves out of this stupor.
