Ares-49789 was born as the third out of eight siblings, this meant that he was both the older brother and the little one, he has two older siblings that are twins, both in their thirties and are children of his father’s first marriage, as for younger siblings, there is a set of triplets with a brother and two sisters who are 10yo and two sisters who are 18 and 14 each, since he was young, he had to take care of his younger siblings, when he was younger it was fine, his older siblings came by to help from time to time, but once one of them moved to japan and the other to the other side of the country, he was designated as his siblings babysitter

His father and mother worked, a lot, that meant that Ares had to take on responsibilities around the house, from groceries to laundry and some cooking, although that was taken care by his younger sister, the one right behind him in age,  who started enjoying cooking and giving him a hand once she was old enough, when he was not in class or taking care of his siblings, he was helping his father, who, as most of his hometown, worked on woodwork making furniture to sell and making repairs in highschools, he didn’t earn much, but for his teenager self, it was a fortune

As for academically, Ares never had that much time for studies and he tended to leave them on a sideline, still, he managed to pass his way through highschool without ever failing a subject, not because he studied a lot, but because he had to help his siblings do so and managed to get a knack for teaching, in middle school he met a lifelong group of friends, they were the weird ones, the ones that got picked out because of their preferences, Ares didn’t know why, but when he started hanging out with them, his brother sense kicked in, they were just… another family, yeah, his family was not that bad, but his siblings never had him on a great light, specially when he had an outburst

Ares had a problem, he was protective and caring, but, tended to anger, that anger became a torrent when the timing of a situation was the worst, it’d take at least three people to stop him from breaking any bones, both his and the target of his anger, this was good in middle school, as after a few of those his group was left alone, but in his house? it ended up with him being severely punished by his parents when his outburst ended and found that he had laid hands on some of his siblings, when the fog of rage came down, Ares took the punishments to himself and with no resistance, he deserved them for making his siblings hurt and he was not someone to fight back against the mountain of a man his father was

With age came the temper his younger self never had, his outbursts were less and far apart from each other, Ares finished highschool and started taking care of the house almost full time, working for his father on the morning and taking care of his siblings on the afternoon, he managed to read a lot from time to time, investigating about history, his favorite story was the iliad, maybe that one was the push he needed to start training, that was in part one of the explanations for his outbursts coming down, when he was tired it was easier to control himself

Ares came to play SAO when his eldest brother sent him a nerve gear from Japan, it seemed like he had played the beta but didn’t quite like it, so he had decided that Ares was a good option to give it away, so he received it in his birthday barely a week before the servers opened, and when they did, he ran to try out the game he could call his own for the first time in his life

Spoiler Protector: Ares has the role of a protector deep engraved in his soul, he will always take the path that will lead him to help those that need it, specially those he holds close, this sense of protection can go so far as to put the others lifes first instead of his own. This doesn't only extend to fighting, but also in day to day life, he will try to make it easier for the people he trusts. Being a protector is something someone is born with, it's something he developed with the years and one of the things he cherishes the most about himself  Social: Ares has the qualities for a people person, he likes to talk with other people and get to meet new ones, still, he is slow to warm up to people, is as if everyone started on a good level of likeness for him, and with much time that level will start going up until he trusts them fully. Being like this has led to many lifetime friendships being stabilised in the past, but it has also caused him problems, as once he meets someone it is quite easy for them to make use of the initial trust. Ares used to make use of his high sociability by making sure none of his siblings were alone if he could help it and, he did manage to get some side jobs by using his connections  Teacher: Ares has taught many things to his siblings, including things he didn’t quite know before starting teaching them, that’s why he can learn things fast and is able to pass that knowledge to others easily.  With this ease to learn skills like cooking or other menial tasks Ares developed into a jack of all trades when it came to take care of his siblings, always knowing what to do, how and being very adaptive. The most important thing he has taught himself and his siblings were both English and Japanese, the second of which was inspired by his eldest brother who lives in Japan to this day

Spoiler Anger: Ares has a problem with his own emotional understanding, he can easily go violent on someone when he finds himself in an stressful situation, this was better when he was back home, but now that he is trapped in a place like Aincrad he has gone back to his old ways. There is a high possibility for Ares to end up highly damaged after an outburst starts, specially because he has no sense of self preservation during these. This anger pairs with his protector mentality, as the one thing he will never do during his attacks is to damage those he protects, this doesn't mean it hasn't happened before, just that the mental weight of doing so will be enough to keep him in his toes for months Distracted: Just like he can focus in the times of need, Ares tends to forget things that don’t really matter, from misplacing an object to the name and face of people he just met, to make it short, he has ADHD. This translates to hating doing monotonous tasks but loving it when the things he has to do have some way of rewarding him, that's what he will spend much time farming, as the game system will trap him easily. Being distracted also means that he will always have an eye on his surroundings when doing mental tasks, this has prevented more than one serious fall in his house or during his jobs Sleepless: Ares can run on caffeine for at least two days without a single nap, that has been tested and successfully at that, but it also means that he has trouble sleeping and when he does, he does it very deeply, so he is not fit to sleep in a place where he’d have to be awake in a matter of seconds. But this will also mean that he is perfect when making sure everyone is safe during the times he has to take the night watch, is not that he prefers it, but he is simply better at it. Being as sleepless as he is will also mean that in situations where there is no imminent danger or something important to do, he might simply start napping, not because he wants but because his body wants to get those 8 hours no matter what
