Morrigan 0 Posted November 18 #1 Share Posted November 18 (edited) The Basics Once there was nothing more than silence, but now hope finds a way to be heard... Username: Morrígan Real name: Morrigan McTellum Age: 30 > 32 (June 7, 1991) Gender: Female Height: 154cm (5ft) Complexion: Pale Defining Features: Freckles, small piercings on helix portion of left ear. Eye Colour: Blue Hair Colour: Ginger Country of Origin: Canada Profession: TBD / TBD History Hide contents The Real World Morrigan was raised within a wealthy household, one which saw her often times left in the care of others while her parents attended various forms of events, designed towards the celebration of their successes in life. Although it provided her with an assortment of goods and experiences, Morrigan found herself ostracized from her parents, and in turn from those around her. Her wealth known to all who encountered her - a fact that her parents ensured was known to the world, excused only by their belief that it would make things easier for her - Morrigan was instead treated differently at every avenue of her life. From an early age, she was set aside, kept from the common games and play times lest she hurt herself, or be considered unclean by her parents due to the activities in question. As she entered her schooling years, She found herself excluded due to her difference in behaviour - where she had been taught the essence of speaking properly and formally, the importance of curtsying and standing straight, others had been taught the rougher behaviours of the lower castes of society - behaviours which not only confused Morrigan, but hindered her ability to communicate naturally with those she was expected to engage with. While none dared speak against her, bully her, or otherwise harm her, Morrigan found herself alone in a world filled with people so different from herself. By the time she had reached the age of adulthood, Morrigan had found recluse and comfort in the online world - varying between social media platforms, online chatting programs, and online games in an attempt to find some sort of connection. Whether pure luck, or some sort of intervention she had never seen, she had been saved from the darker aspects of the online worlds - although she did encounter and engage with aspects that her parents likely despised and preferred she'd never encountered to begin with. The experiences, however, had left Morrigan feeling more human, in a way, and she found herself craving more from the online community than what she had previous found. Although she had entered adulthood many years prior, Morrigan found herself still contained within the abode of her parents' watchful eyes, their carefully controlled environment - a secondary home on a large land that they owned - providing for her everything they thought she needed. Against every attempt to break away, Morrigan had simply found herself locked within their controlling embrace, provided with opportunities that many others may have scrambled for - and yet finding herself unfulfilled in each and every aspect of them. Although she wasn't coddled, she knew that she was protected from the world in many means, and she desired nothing more than to break free of her parents' grasp, to become one with herself, and find her own way in life. Entry & Exploration She had come across Sword Art Online through pure chance, seeing an advertisement for the game on a website that she had, until recently, been forbidden from engaging. Sword Art Online gave Morrigan a chance at something that no other experience had provided - a chance to go beyond simply texting someone, or messaging them on a platform. Although she'd experienced voice and video chats, as well as the various aspects of basic online multiplayer games, she had yet to find anything that provided a true replacement for what she had been missing out on. What Sword Art Online offered to most - the ability to escape reality and become an adventurer in a medieval like world - was simply an additional benefit to Morrigan. She saw Aincrad, the world promised, as something more akin to a replacement for the letdown that her years in the real world had already provided. A chance to leave behind her persona of reality, and instead become something else. A chance to perhaps, in a way, connect with someone in a more real fashion than text provided. During her first hours in Aincrad, Morrigan found herself falling in love with the world in various ways. The beautiful expanses which stretched out to the horizons beyond reminded her of her ancestral homelands - homelands that she had visited only a few times in her life, and yet had fallen in love with wholly. The few people she encountered treated her as one of them, a fact that endeared Morrigan almost instantly to the world. Although she was treated as royalty in the real world, even on her social media accounts and the few games she had played - each tailored to her through careful consideration by people who had looked out for her time and again - Aincrad took away all of that, leaving her as a simple no-one; a faceless individual who could be anything they wanted to be, with no one to direct their path from behind shadows and carefully pointed words. Morrigan craved more of the experience, and quickly found herself wishing that she would never leave the world that had already given her more than her parents had ever provided - an answer to her unspoken wish to be anyone but who she was... The Announcement & Aftermath The announcement and confirmation of their circumstances left the ten thousand players in a panic - a mass of emotions rolling over each and every single one who had been gathered and informed. While others rushed to and fro, screaming and crying at their misfortune, Morrigan found herself emotionless at the announcement. Although she knew the repercussions of being locked within a virtual world - her education had been one of technologically inclined medical learning - she found herself uncaring of anything other than the fact that her silent wish had, somehow, been answered. As others fled from the central courtyard where they had learnt their fates, Morrigan had found herself standing still, staring at the space where the figure had proclaimed their future. A dread had passed through her then, as she'd realised that her wish had come true, to a degree, but she was once again under the thumb and shadow of another dictating her fate. Controlling her life, making her path for her. She'd screamed then, not in fear or fury, but in frustration at the fact that even this - a blessing in disguise for her - could be so soiled and torn asunder by such a simple fact. She had, in that moment, decided that she wouldn't stand for it - she would do everything in her power to tear down the world of Aincrad, to exact revenge upon their keeper, if for no reason other than to disrupt the path her tried to create for them. Present Day Morrigan had made little progress in the world of Aincrad, even as the days had blurred away into the past. A lack of skill with games, hindered by her limited experience, as well as her general formal measure of associating with others, had left her behind while others had soared on ahead. Although she'd been treated kindly, she'd never been welcomed warmly - a fact that she blamed as much on her obvious lack of understanding of the systems and game itself, as to her formal measure of communicating and acting. She'd tried, time and again, to break the habits, and yet she found they persisted most annoyingly - habits formed for decades that couldn't simply be tossed aside at a whim. Although she found herself struggling, barely bringing in enough to carry her from day to day, Morrigan had made a promise to herself not to give up. Not to surrender to the path that had been given to them, not to once again fall under the control of another. Driven by her determination as much by her desire for an odd sense of revenge, Morrigan had spent much of her days pressing onwards - often times alone, sometimes accompanied by those who had no choice but to accept her presence, if only for a time. Always courteous, she never spoke ill of those who treated her at arms length, instead accepting their cold welcome with a smile that was clearly well practiced and words that were versed time eternal, waiting for the moment when she would find her step along the path she had chosen... Virtues Flaws Hide contents Assertiveness. Although many would consider her behaviours aggravating or insulting in some circles, none would say that Morrigan is anything but confident in her actions, statements and behaviours. Once she has chosen a path, or made a statement, she stands by it - unwilling to bend or break without good cause. Taught to stand behind her statements, Morrigan speaks and actions without hesitation once she has chosen her path, holding back nothing and unafraid of insulting those before her if she believes it to be the right decision. Authenticity. Though it may have taken time for her to find herself, Morrigan has long since chosen to be herself. Balanced between the formal behaviours that she was raised upon, and the desire to be accepted, she has always held to her beliefs. No matter the outcome, she has long since sworn that she would never give up on her own beliefs, her own desires - no matter the cost to herself and others. Confidence. As much ingrained in her by her parents' teaching, and the lessons she endured as a child, Morrigan contains a natural confidence in her that radiates like an aura. Though she does not always make the right decisions, she stands without regret when she takes action, knowing that she did the right thing in the moment. Her confidence is obvious in her engagement with others, her tone and image showing no hesitation or restriction in her words or actions. Honour. Raised with the beliefs and ideals of her parents' heritage and the royal similar behaviours associated with their social circle, Morrigan was taught to always act with honour. Whether it be treating others ethically and with kindness, considering the fairness of her actions towards those affected, or always speaking with honesty in her heart, Morrigan strives to uphold the ideals she grew up with. Although considered idealistic by many, her beliefs of honour have carved her own path throughout her life, and gotten her to where she was today - and Morrigan knows that she would not trade that for anything. Hide contents Argumentative. In contrast to her desire to be accepted and engage with others, Morrigan is prone to argumentative behaviour. When she faces situations where she believes her ideals to be right, she will often fight with others who disagree with her - politely, but aggressively. Often times before she has driven others away due to her argumentative behaviour, stomping upon any attempt to communication through her simple belief of being correct. Manipulative. A trait taught to her through her education and parentage, Morrigan long ago learnt how to manipulate others. While she may be far from a master of manipulation, her skills have always helped her control others to act in a measure of her own desires, even if they eventually realise what occurred. Although she swears to use the skill only for good, many have been left angered once they learn of what she did - enough so as to never speak to her again. Pretentious. Though she may have despised the way that her parents treated those of lesser status than themselves, Morrigan has been known to look down upon others in numerous cases. While she has never outwardly shown or spoken disdain in a manner that could be considered discriminatory, she has clearly shown a level of discontent at those she associated with - especially unwillingly. Try as she may, her patronage as much as her own beliefs are clear when she sneers at those considered lowly in her mind. Prideful. As much as Morrigan may desire to leave behind her heritage and status, she maintains a high level of pride in who and what she is. Obvious through her interactions with others, Morrigan is clearly proud of her upbringing, her family, and her formality. Although she tries to keep it hidden within, many have commented on her behaviours - comments which sting her to her core, harming her self-esteem in ways she can never voice.
