[PP-02] Wax Off, Sass On <<Breaking the Unbreakable>>

Recommended Posts

Bliss had heard rumors about a quest. It was about... punching a rock? Huh. How does one..?? Y'know what. Not gonna worry about it too much. To each their own. She shrugged, clasping her hands together as if she was rallying her courage.

She got dressed, grabbed her gear and headed out for the day, leaving behind the serene beauty of Floor 22 and made her way to the forest mountain-scapes of Floor 2. As she arrived in Urbus, she saw the towering mountain rising into the sky. Jagged cliffs framed it's sides, and it was terrifying. Bliss froze for a moment, staring up at the daunting peak. Her stomach churned, and her palms grew clammy. I'm starting to regret this, why? Why did it have to be a tall mountain? She had always been terrified of them. Sure, she had told herself this was just a game and fall damage didn't exist in safe zones, but her body didn't get the memo. D-Does it?

Despite the growing pit in her stomach, Bliss steeled herself. She pulled her jacket tight and attempted to put on a brave face. You got this. It's just a mountain. Nothing scary about it. But as her eyes traced the steep mountainside all the way to the top, she realized her "brave face" wasn't quite holding up. Her lips were pressed into a thin line, and her eyes darted nervously. Her fingers instinctively reached for her hair, twirling a strand around and around in a familiar habit. The motion brought her a shred of comfort, even as her heart pounded in her chest. She forced herself to take a deep breath. One step at a time, she reminded herself.

It was once another day inside the death game... and once again, Miyukii was out trying to find herself a way out of it. This time though she was on the 2nd floor of the entire game. Stepping off the platform, she looked around, breathing in the light air around here as she sees the mountains surrounding her every step. It was breath taking as she has never seen anything like it in her entire life.

With her white long hair and blue eyes sparkling from the sun, Miyukii spotted a girl with beautiful blonde hair wearing what looks like a tight jacket panicking. The question is why is she panicking and could Miyukii help her with her situation. With no time at all she walked up to the girl and with the most softest calm voice.

"Excuse me, are you alright?"

She was hoping not to startled the girl but there wasn't really any other way to get her attention besides just approaching her.

The split peak of the mountain created a deep valley that housed an ancient looking temple. Walls of grey and brown stone, topped with a pointed roof that bore a resemblance to the scales of a red dragon peeked out over perfectly trimmed trees. The silence of the grounds varied immensely to the rustle and bustle of Urbus' busy streets. Even the air, while it still held a bite, was still and quiet. It was weird not seeing anyone here though.. was she even in the right place?

Not many other tall, easily accessible peaks on the second floor, probably even less with old, Japanese architecture planted on top. Either way, even if this wasn't the right spot, the view was enough to make the trip worth it.

Adelyte had already been exploring the floor when the note from Bliss hit her inbox. The two didn't have much interaction outside of their meeting on the beach - and even then, it wasn't much - but Ad got the sense that Bliss did not have many contacts filling up her friends list just yet. Not that she wasn't a friendly person, Adelyte thought, more so she could only imagine how hard it was to approach new people when you are as shy as her. It was definitely charming though, and drew plenty of attention. Maybe boys didn't like the loud, talkative types.

Nothing she could - or would - do about that.

Where was she.. Anyway, as soon as Adelyte got the message from Bliss with the quest deets, she was off to the races. Having already been pestering  conversing with some of the locals, she had overheard some talk about a popular quest on top of a mountain. Coincidence? She thought not.

As she sat, waiting, feet dangling from the branches of a tree, she gazed out across at the temple. An open book sat in her lap, a pink pencil gently tapped at her sketching of the building on the page. Humming a gentle, merry tune, Adelyte added more detail to her drawing.

Athena's mind buzzed with a mixture of excitement and contemplation as she immersed herself in the thick tome that was the player's handbook. The settlement of Tolbana, with its quaint charm and bustling streets, faded away as her focus tunneled into the pages brimming with knowledge. Each page was a gateway to potential adventure, filled with the whispers of NPCs, the roar of field bosses, and the strategic musings of those who had faced them.

"Hm..." She murmured, her finger tracing the edge of the page as she pondered the strategic insights offered by the manual. The handbook wasn't just a guide—it was a map of possibilities, a treasure trove of secrets and strategies that could turn the tide in the complex world of Aincrad.

Her gaze halted at the title that seemed to leap from the page: "Breaking the Unbreakable." Her eyebrow lifted, a visible manifestation of her intrigue. The quest promised not just a test of skill but a deeper journey into the mastery of martial arts—skills that could transform a weaponless player into a formidable force. "Could this be the key for players who find themselves unequipped?" She mused aloud, her voice barely above a whisper, yet carrying the weight of her realization.

A martial arts master atop a mountain on Floor 2—a challenge not just of skill, but of determination and fortitude. The words resonated with her, echoing the ethos of every true adventurer who sought not just victory, but growth. The thought of mastering martial arts, of honing her body into a weapon of its own, was undeniably appealing.

“Looks like I'll be heading to the Second floor...” Athena decided, her voice firm with resolve. She gently closed the handbook, its cover smooth under her palm, and slid it into her digital inventory—a testament to the seamless blend of reality and virtuality that defined her life in Aincrad.

Approaching the warp crystal, she felt a thrumming anticipation in her veins. The crystal glowed with an ethereal light, reflecting her own eagerness to embark on this new journey. "Teleport, Urbus!" she commanded, her voice clear and confident, as if the words themselves would carve the path ahead.

The warp was instantaneous, a flash of light and sensation that deposited her in Urbus, the heart of the Second Floor. Athena took a moment to orient herself, absorbing the city’s unique ambiance. Perched on a butte and nestled within a lush forest, Urbus was a stronghold, both in its architecture and spirit. The city’s single entrance made it a fortress against threats, and its bustling life offered a stark contrast to the tranquility of the surrounding woods.

Athena's gaze swept over the cityscape, taking in the inns with their inviting facades, the bustling marketplaces alive with bargaining players, and the church's solemn spire reaching skyward. It was a place of convergence—a nexus where adventurers prepared, rested, and sought solace.

Her eyes were drawn to the central ring, a vast expanse of packed dirt that bore the scars of countless duels. It was a space of competition and growth, where warriors tested their mettle and the air thrummed with the energy of challenges issued and accepted. Athena felt a pull toward it, an unspoken promise of trials and triumphs to come.

With a newfound sense of purpose, Athena set her sights on her quest. The journey to the martial arts master would be demanding, but it was precisely the kind of challenge she relished. Each step she took was more than a physical journey—it was a step toward mastering her own potential, a quest to break the unbreakable within herself.

As Athena's foot hovered in mid-air, her intended step toward the mountain halted by an unexpected scene unfolding before her. Her gaze was drawn to a young woman with cascading blonde hair, whose trembling form and labored breaths betrayed a mind ensnared in panic. The sight tugged at Athena's heart, a silent plea for help amidst the bustling city.

But she wasn't the only one who noticed. Another figure, equally striking with her long, silvery white hair, approached the distressed girl with a calm and gentle demeanor. Athena watched as the silver-haired woman moved with purpose, her presence a soothing balm to the chaos of the moment.

"Maybe, I shouldn't approach them just yet..." Athena murmured to herself, her voice a cautious whisper. Her instincts urged her forward, driven by empathy and the desire to help, but she hesitated, mindful of the fragile state of the panicked girl. The last thing she wanted was to exacerbate the situation, to add another layer of confusion and fear.
