"Maybe it's just me, but I feel like we should be moderately concerned by the completely random appearance of twelve, masked, scantily clad ladies grinding it around a ritual circle in an abandoned amusement park after dark."

Foyle smirked, preferring to keep his eyes to the horizon in search of other possible threats.  Freyd was left to deal with this one.  Jeeves, on the other hand, was more concerned by the elaborate mandala laid out between them on the ground and practically radiating unpleasant fortunes.  The trio had made their way from the main festival grounds in the centre of Ronbaru, following a lead fostered by the various strings collected on their recent floor-wide delivery loop. When braided in a certain pattern, Freyd noticed that they became bound and created a new item, complete with fresh description and evoking a certain pull that had led them in this direction.

The dancers ignored them as they approach, save one whose featureless mask concealed her appearance surprisingly well.  She seemed drawn to the thing in Freyd's hand, as if the 'Veena' as the system called it, unlocked approval for her interactions.

“My Lord hath been expecting thou,” the voice came, though it lacked for all inflection and in fact, sounded androgynous. “He hath waited far too long.”

"He also hath really weird taste in ambiance, but who am I to judge?  Who is this Lord of yours, and please don't say 'Abdullah'?  This area's way off limits for that idiot."

Unmoved by the jest, she clapped and bade the dancers shift their steps to clear a path into the circle.

"Right.  Sure.  We'll just step into the discount pentagram, then, shall we?  What could go wrong?  Gear up, guys.  This is where things will go sideways."

Summary:

The evening culminated in a writhing flame of gold and red, dancing to a faint rhythm through the staging grounds. This zone had been carved out and forgotten, it seemed, for all other times of year; but in this moment, it was sacrosanct. Starlight dimmed overhead as the heat of lantern light swallowed the world, a tempestuous wind flirting with fire rather than dousing it. The faceless dancers twisted and entwined, but never seemed to look your way. Their minds were elsewhere, their attention already bought and paid for by another.

One woman, however, though similarly faceless, holds out both hands, cupped. She expected something from someone, though she lacked the voice to say who. Though this fairground was intended to be for those who stood victorious, those who sought wisdom, and those who would finally be free, it shared another purpose.

As you place the Veena in her waiting grasp, her fingers grasp at it with familiarity. The space where her eyes should have been ignited, deep, golden flame burning through the darkness. Etched there now were striking, even beautiful features that did not exist moments before.

Outline: 

To begin <<Ravana’s Reprise>> quest, players must assemble a Veena with the four different strings obtainable from the event quest <<Purusartha>>. This will take one player’s post action in the thread. This assembly may occur alongside the use of consumables. The strings will be consumed and removed from the player once this occurs.

Next, players must locate the Crimson Fairgrounds, a secret location within Aincrad that exists in light of the Diwali celebrations, discoverable on any floor. The Crimson Fairgrounds will be found on an LD10+ with modifiers. Once the location has been found, the party may engage <<Demon King Ravana>> in combat.

<<Demon King Ravana>>
An ancient evil now unfettered and unchained, yet merely a glimpse of its former glory. Cocky, stern and unstable, Demon King Ravana wields a demonic fire and multiple blades, carried by multiple disembodied arms that sprout from his back.

HP: 1400/1400 | MIT: 75 | DMG: 150 | ACC: 2

Abilities:

OF MANY ARMS | On his turn, <<Demon King Ravana>> ignores hate values, and will attack all players in the party by rolling against them individually. 

TENFOLD ROAR | On a CD9+, <<Demon King Ravana>> applies [TEMPERED] to all players in the party. [TEMPERED] is a debuff that lasts for 2 turns and applies the following: -1 EVA, -2 ACC.

WARLORD | On a critical hit, <<Demon King Ravana>> applies both [BLEED: 24 DMG/2 turns] and [BURN: 28 DMG/2 turns] to his target. Ravana gains Phase on successful attacks against targets suffering from BLEED. Ravana also restores health equal to the amount of damage suffered by the party from BURN.

LIGHT OVER DARKNESS | <<Demon King Ravana>> may only fall below 1 HP if it suffers from a source of burn damage (Burn, Flame Thorns, Flame Aura, Hellstorm, TECH-G).

TIER LOCK | For the duration of the fight, all of the participants’ stats that scale with Tier are calculated as though they’re Tier 2. [DMG/MIT/BLEED enhancements etc.] This skill only locks downward. Those at Tier 1 will still have T1 stats.

In true Shades of the Gemini user fashion, Wulfrin seemed to materialize out of the shadows of the quickly setting sun. Having the shadows cling to his form was something he was still adjusting to, but Wulfrin couldn't deny that the ability had come in handy more times than he had expected it to. He had spotted Freyd asking questions around the festival and the thought of some sinister plot brewing had piqued his interest.

"I wouldn't be so sure," Wulfrin scoffed at The Whisper's denial that their common foe couldn't have a hand in the plot. "While it is unlikely that he would show his face up here, the event could have unforeseen things take place, and I for one don't like removing pieces from the board."

Wulfrin eyed the cultists up and down. He wasn't too keen on the whole dark rituals vibe being presented, it was a stark contrast to the jovial festival he had stepped away from not too long ago. At the same time however, he knew something like this was an inevitability. These sort of things almost seemed attracted to the two.

"So Master of Shadows?" Wulfrin chuckled. "We doing this blind, or do you know something I don't?"

"Oh, we're going in blind," Jeeves responded bluntly, leading up the concealed arm crossbow Wulfrin had made according to his designs.  His eyes never even looked up from his prep.  "I'm sure you've figured out by now that his plans are more like illusions of a plan, or the reassuring promise of a future plan, rather than any actual specifics."

Freyd just smirked in silent agreement and amused by Jeeves' obtuse willingness to call out his boss' bluff.  At least he had the sense to do it in the privacy of their group.  A more open forum would have been a different story.

"Evidence today, and based on our recent rounds of the floor, suggest a connection to some malfeasant entity.  This place is rife with an undercurrent of discord that must stem from somewhere.  The locals have no apparent major religion or strong cultural affiliation, so I'd wager on a cult and minor demonic power.  Ren could probably tell you which, just based on how many statues and tablets he kept studying."  Jeeves' tactical assessment aside, he was far less interested in trivia.  What mattered to him was how they could leverage their options to best effect.

"Our friend is correct," Foyle added, their elder pointing out several symbols woven into the mandala towards which they were being ushered.  "Ren and I saw these markings in Lichten, and drew some unwelcome attention while doing so.  I had to usher our academic companion towards safer quarters before the knives came out."  Grunting gruffly at the memory, the scout warily scrutinized the dancers still gyrating all about them before drawing and nocking his bow.  "I'd wager on a fight waiting for us on the other side."

Their masked hostess gave nothing away, favouring the less engaging demeanor of Aincrad's dumber or more stubborn NPCs.  It was a common lack of reaction for those rarely engaging with players, or who'd never been used since the game originally came online.

"Does your master have a name, woman?  Or does he lack the courtesy to properly introduce himself."

She hissed through clenched teeth, clearly unwilling to suffer the slight.

"You enter the realm of Ravana, fool.  Pray he makes your suffering brief for such insolence."

"Right.  So, I'd call that a confirmation," Foyle replied, standing ready for battle.  The name itself meant nothing to him.

Stepping into the strange, ominous circle, Freyd found their surroundings suddenly swirling.  Everything turned a deeper, nastier, creepier shade of red as if every element had been completely marinated in blood.

"Someone needs to talk to their decorator... and the health department.  This can't possibly pass muster.  Hey!  Ravana?  Lilith wants her decor back!"  Nodding to the others to follow, the demon's herald had unwittingly given them an edge.  "Not sure if we're supposed to wander aimlessly around here for a bit, but we already got what we needed. Dude's this way, about five hundred yard out." 

An appreciative wink was sent Foyle's way, the elder having prodded the NPC at just the right time and just the right way.  Not quite good-cop/bad-cop, but just as effective, when used right.

"Alright.  I'm guessing we're in for the fight you all predicted, so let's play this by the numbers.  Wulfrin goes in first and disables, if bad-ass makes a move.  You two go in next and flank him, taking out any adds he might have.  I'll seal the deal in whatever way makes anything still standing mostly mad a me.  Sound like a plan?"

"So the usual then," Wulfrin chuckled as he prepared for battle. He turned to address the other somewhat familiar faces as well. "Foyle and Jeeves right? I'll admit I've only had brief interactions with you two, but I'm glad to see you're still mulling around Aincrad. How's Firm Anima treating you?"

Wulfrin's blade did not help the already spooky cult vibe as Icingdeath's trademark frosty aura clung to the ground as the group pressed onward. Freyd, the newly reformed tank, was naturally at the tip of their four man sword as they trudged towards what looked like some twisted version of the Diwali fairgrounds. Wulfrin was on his six, ready to pivot around at a moments notice. His small phoenix familiar soared overhead providing a birds eye view. Before long Freyd stopped and began to discuss a gameplan.

"That's my shole schtick," Wulfrin commented on his role during the upcoming combat. "I even came with a little more spice this adventure." He pulled from his neck a small necklace that had a crimson orb that seemed to churn like a roaring fire. "A gift from the first round of Cerberus. I'm not just packing the powers of Ice but Fire too."

Wulfrin spotted their demonic target just off in the distance. The key feature, about a dozen spectral arms that carried a weapon each. Wulfrin's best guess was that this "Demon King Ravana" was going to be swinging AoEs. Wulfrin's grip tightened on his weapon as the group approached. Once in range, he surged forward, his blade glowing crimson with is Phoenix Talon sword art, one of his more popular openings. The art connected precisely as planned leaving their demonic fried stunned and open for follow up attacks. For just that little extra distraction, Wulfrin signaled for Solaris to move in. The phoenix began to circle the king's head, clawing and pecking at Ravana's eyes.

"The way is clear gentleman," Wulfrin announced as he readied for his next attack. "Light 'em up."

"Oh, yes, erm..."

"Wulfrin," Freyd chimed in, filling in the awkwardly obvious fumble.

"I know," Foyle retorted, albeit free of harshness.  "I was just trying to recall when we'd last met.  It was the mountaintop near Urbus, along with that other fellow.  The martial arts training mission."  Eyes scanning Wulfrin's paradoxically imbued blade, he stared at its wondrously.  "Amazing, isn't it?  What this world renders possible?  Hmmmf.  Makes me wonder what I might do with this trifling trinket, when the time comes."

Icingdeath led the charge and to excellent effect, breaking the newly found demon-king's mojo before it could be wielded against them.  Scrambling to follow his pace, Foyle pull his bowstring back, pausing only to rip off one band of fletching from the readied arrow before letting it fly.  Arcing high and wide to the left, the missile spun and wheeled back towards its intended target, striking it just clear of Wulfrin's passing.  A trick shot, to be sure, but one born of growing confidence and talent that marked Foyle as a warrior worthy of respect, especially compared to his foray against the afore-mentioned boulder.

Their foe immobilized and further hampered by Foyle's arcing shot, Jeeves stepped forth to take aim.  Launching from the complex, miniature mechanism concealed beneath his sleeve, a tiny glowing capsule flew towards his target and exploded upon impact, unleashing small shrapnel-like shards.  Metal fragments burst forths, shredding the Demon-King's extra limbs to pieces, severely inhibiting their function and range of motion.  Satisfied that his initial shot was good, Jeeves rolled right an into cover behind some disused further where he began to reload.

"Kick his ass, Captain.  Just make sure that you get his attention while doing it!"  It was a rare thing for him to call anyone other than his sister by that title, and said something for the regard in which he held the man.  Jeeves didn't impress easily, yet readily dismissed outright.  It took a lot to change his poor opinions once set.  And, so far, Ravana, wasn't scoring all that well.

In the wake of three concussive waves rocking Ravana's grand moment, Freyd sought not to disappoint.  Stepping from one shadow to another, he reappeared to the mob's left and sliced down hard.  Screeching tore open the silence of Bizarro Ronburu as Samae'l Pride opened its maw and bit down, hard.  Black void within the blade carved its way through the mob's digital flesh like a vacuum, consuming every congealed dust bunny compressed into the demon's ridiculous-looking overstuffed outfit.  A stitch on its left side gave out, billowing like a dessicated fart could that the weapon conveniently devoured.  Eyes burning at his own embarrassment, Ravana struggled to recover from their overwhelming assault, will fighting against system-imposed constraints.

"Aww...boys.  I think we made the wee demon lad mad.  Nicely done, all of you."

He was also short about two thirds of his health in a span shorter than flame's lifespan outside of Snowfrost.  This demon wasn't long for his world.
