[PP-F10] Pillage the Pillagers <<Bandit Camp>>

Recommended Posts

Just another day in the death game and Kyoto, wearing his new gear that Ren created for him, was on another adventure with Freyd. After joining Firm Anima, Kyoto has put on the challenge to join up with Freyd to help around the guild. The only thing is... He's needing to get through the level grinding.

Stepping off the teleport platform Kyoto looked around to see if he can spot Freyd. With the plated samurai sticking out like a sore thumb, it shouldn't be to hard for Kyoto to spot him. But the one thing he was surprise about this hell hold of a world is... there's tons of players here.

Walking toward the inn, Kyoto would sit at one of the stools in the main settlement of Yōgan Village. Waiting to see if Freyd would be around this area.

"Maybe it would of been easier if we just private message each other when we want to meet up instead of just expecting the other to fine the party."

He said to himself.

"So he's been giving you trouble again?  I can't say that I'm surprised.  It's been quite a while, and old grudges have a habit of popping up again like some inevitable plague, or a birthday."  How else was one supposed to explain a respawning nemesis to an NPC?  Freyd found that providing them with a plausible explanation tended to make the AI more cooperative, like it appreciated the cues.  "I'm sure we can help each other out again, Kirk.  My associate and I," he added, pointing toward Kyoto, "will be quite happy to deal with your bandit problem, in return for the usual fee."

The two men shook hands, Kirk's shoulders visibly relieved of some invisible burden as he turned to give his fellow miners the good news.  Freyd took the opportunity to close the distance to where Kyoto stood, a dusting of ash and soot having already accumulated on the Whisper's pauldrons.  Tracking was such a useful and underestimated skill, especially when it came to maintaining an illusion of punctuality.

"Ready to beat up some bad guys?  This one's a good old-fashioned romp.  Oscar taught me how to leap like a superhero in this quest, if I recall."  The grin shining from his captain's face might have belonged on a Cheshire cat.

Sitting on the stool waiting for Freyd to show up Kyoto would sit there and think to himself. Remembering the day he came into this world to all the tragic things that's happen since he's been here. Between old guilds to old friends. Things just doesn't seem to change. The only difference is this is a new chapter in his story and this time he's hoping this one will end up in a good ending.

Listening to a familiar voice talk to him he turn his head looking at Freyd. The little joke he got from his comment was almost funny enough for him to chuckle. He gives his captain a nod before getting up off the stool. With his new attire the white haired boy turn into what would be a more cyberpunk style gear. Something that gives off the wrong vibe to people but still shows that he's still there mentally.

"I'm always ready to go beat up a bunch of bandits. Where are we heading?"

Kyoto's tone was different. More serious and less lost and confused. Seems like joining the guild changed his view of things and some would say it's for the best interested that he did. His goal is to liberate theses people and that's what he'll do.

Nod returned, Freyd raises a single eyebrow to take in his companion's new duds.

"Suits you."  Delivered deadpan, Kyoto couldn't tell if the captain was joking or not - which was probably the point.  Freyd had a mildly annoying habit of messing with people to let them guess his intentions.  Handy tool for a spymaster.  Not great for social interactions.  And likely also a hardwired part of his personality that wouldn't soon or easily be shaken off.

"The bandits haven't gone far.  Without a steady source of supplies, they survive by raiding the mining camps."  A general wave of his hand pointed them in an easterly direction.  "Just follow the flow of magma.  Shit burns downhill, or something."

Once they were clear of the mines, he could speak more plainly.

"The bandits have a boss.  I can't even remember his name, if I ever knew it, but he's just a bigger version of the same.  Thing is, we'll need to wade through multiple waves of his minions to convince him to appear.  Two dozen or so, if I recall.  Our best bet would be to find one of their base camps and go to own.  Kinda like that one."

Before Kyoto could blink, Freyd has stepped through his own shadow and reappeared in the midst of the enemy camp.  A single booted stomp alerted the sentries to action, all of them standing, just in time to meet the Whisper's arcing black blade, literally losing their heads.
