Morrigan 0 Posted January 2 #1 Share Posted January 2 (edited) Earning a Living: Forager Morrígan groaned as she rolled over in her bed, trying to pull the blanket up over her head in an attempt to shut out the world. The caws of Phantom had pulled her from her slumber, and although Morrígan had promised to change her habits she wanted nothing more than to return to her short sleep. At least I was able to recreate the shop into something more…comfortable. It was the one blessing that Morrígan had found in the store’s existence; the ability to create a small living apartment in its rear. It had once contained a storage room, and Morrígan was certain that at some point she would likely have to return the room to its original intended use. For now, however, it was serving to provide her a measure of peace and rest that the inn simply hadn’t been able to offer. ’I’m up, I’m up…you know the bag is on the sewing table, you can grab it yourself…’ Morrígan groaned as she pushed herself up from the small cot. Though it lacked the comfort of a true bed, the peace and solidarity that received from the back room more than made up for the lack of comfort. She did, however, voice her complaint as it came to mind – the lack of wakefulness causing the normal presentation that she upheld, and the filter within, to falter for only a moment. ’I will have to, at some point, get a nicer bed for this area…I doubt we’ll be buying an actual house anytime soon.’ The bathroom was barely functional, the shower – if it could be called that – having been adjusted from the sink line that had already been installed into the room. Modifications had come at a cost, and Morrígan knew that right now she didn’t have the funds required to recreate the room into something more fitting to her status. Reluctantly she’d chosen to accept the room as it was, knowing that in time she could make the adjustments required if she only suffered slightly and for a short period. ’I will definitely be fixing this at some point though.’ She shivered slightly as the lukewarm water hit her, the hot water line inferior to her needs. Still, it was her own, and there was a small measure of pride in the ownership. Morrígan realised for the first time how little she had actually owned herself in life, and a new wave of pride – and something else – washed over her as she smiled. ’Maybe…maybe this isn’t so bad after all…’ Statblock Hide contents Notes [Theme] Morrígan | Lv. 9 | P. 0 | HP [180/180] | EN [36/36] | ACC [3] | DMG [11] | EVA [0] | MIT [6] | Thorns [18] | Paralyse Tier 1 | Tier 1 Equipment Halberd [Polearm | Tier 1] Enhancement: Accuracy [2 Slot] Enhancement: Damage [1 Slot] Breastplate [Light Armour| Tier 1] Enhancement: Mitigation [1 Slot] Raven Shield [Shield | Tier 1] Enhancement: Paralyse [1 Slot] Enhancement: Thorns [2 Slots] Dark Cloak [Vanity | Tier 0] Enhancement: Nil [0 Slots] Battle-Ready Inventory Starter Healer Potions {5} [Potion | Tierless | Heals 50 HP] Spyglass {2} [Search Post Dungeon/Familiar/Field Boss reduced by 5] Zackariah's Special Draught [Potion | Tierless | HP Recovery I] Big Bertha Braciole (5) [Snack | Tier 1 | Rare Vitality Consumable] Skills Hide contents Utility Skills N/A Combat Skills Polearm [Rank: 5. Morrigan 0 Posted January 2 Author #2 Share Posted January 2 ’Today we’re going to complete the foraging profession quest. It’s similar to the tailor quest, but I think we’ll be in for a bit of longer experience. Everything I’ve heard about it states that it requires the actual searching for materials, which means we can’t shortcut and loot every creature in sight.’ She sipped from the teacup before her, the small breakfast of eggs, toast and bacon sitting to the side slightly as she savoured the tea. ’It would seem that we’re required to meet with the foraging master first, and then we’ll be tasked with finding a…demonic shard. An item that we’ll be coached in locating, I would assume. It looks like the NPC for this quest is located out in the fields on the first floor, which means we’ll have to head down there and explore a bit.’ Phantom gave a soft caw, eyeing the bread on the plate. Morrígan gave a partial movement of her hand, and the raven grasped one of the slices gently, before pulling back into a seated position on the chair that Morrígan had left open for the raven. Morrígan placed the cup down, focusing on eating as she thought about everything she’d heard regarding the quest. It had been one of the more popular ones, alongside the various other starter quests – a companion for the professions that everyone took, and a measure to provide some ease in finding the materials one needed for crafting, if they didn’t feel safe combating creatures for their loot. Half an hour later, Morrígan was leaving the small café behind and making her way towards the teleporter pad. She’d made a habit of attending the twenty-seventh floor for her meals, enjoying the general atmosphere and calmer undertones that seemed to hover over it, in comparison to the livelier areas of Aincrad. She gave a simple nod to the few others she passed, sparse as they were. It was still early in the morning, meaning that most players were either asleep, out hunting already, or attending to some other need before beginning their day in earnest. A fact that was satisfactory to Morrígan, giving her the space away from bustle and noise as she strode to her destination. ’It’s truly peaceful here. If I ever end up purchasing a home, perhaps this would be a good location to look.’ She cocked her head as she walked, realising how normal that idea had sounded to her. She’d been stuck in the game for a long time, and now she’d begun to accept, to some degree, the normalcy of certain factors that would make her life more bearable. She knew she hadn’t given up escaping by any means, but she also was well aware that sometimes one needed to accept their situation, while awaiting the opportunity to make change. ’One way or another, I’m living this life. I might as well enjoy my time here as best as I can. There’s no point in suffering through solidarity, when the cause allows comfort.’
Morrigan 0 Posted January 2 Author #3 Share Posted January 2 The world returned to normality as Morrígan reappeared on the first floor’s teleporter pad. She still hadn’t gotten entirely used to the feeling that transitioning between floors left. It was instantaneous, painless, and yet it somehow left her feeling disoriented upon completion; as if her mind was still trying to connect her to the new reality before her. It was an oddness that caused nothing more than some mental discomfort, and yet Morrígan knew that if there was the option of traversing between floors in a quick manner, she might consider it. ’Time to head into the field and find this foraging master, Phantom.’ The raven took to the skies immediately, spreading her wings and pushing upwards above the roofs of the nearby buildings. Morrígan was aware that a single word from her would bring the raven careening back to the ground, but the distance still left her feeling disconnected. She’d become comfortable with the nearness of her companion, and as much as she knew that Phantom enjoyed stretching her wings, she was still getting acclimated to the idea that the bird would return. Moving through the town’s streets were easy enough. The few players who had remained on the first floor generally weren’t out this early in the morning – although they remained busier than those of Ronbaru had been, in part due to the various NPCs that traversed them. Still, Morrígan wandered relatively unhindered on her way towards the gates, before passing through them with a small wave and a smile towards the NPC guards that remained on duty and vigilant against any threats or trouble that might arise before them. Flowing winds met her as she stepped beyond the gates, a soft breeze that bore itself over the fields and rustled her hair gently before abating. She could see Phantom spiraling above her, lazily gliding on the winds that must have been stronger higher up, allowing the raven to leisurely keep pace with the player. Right, now to find a camp that contains a woman who has mastered the basics of foraging and gathering materials. This shouldn’t be too hard. Morrígan had purchased the general location information from a broker the night before, with warnings that the system might have moved the camp ever so slightly – meaning that even with the marker data she had obtained, she might still have some general searching to do once she reached the location. She gave one final glance upwards, confirming Phantom’s continued shadowing, before making her way off into the horizon. At least it’s nice today. Not too warm, not too cold…almost perfect for a stroll through the wilds.
Morrigan 0 Posted January 2 Author #4 Share Posted January 2 Camp was certainly an impassioned way of describing the scene that Morrígan had found tucked towards a small outcropping of rocks and hills. A single carriage sat nestled beside a firepit that had clearly been alight until recently, smoke still drifting from the burning embers that remained. A rickety chair sat between carriage and pit, a woman seated within its arms that could only be described as druidic in appearance. Long blonde hair covered a calm face that stared into the fire without worry or any real attentiveness towards the world around her. It confirmed to Morrígan that the person before her was an NPC, the aloof attitude common among those awaiting the arrival of some external force to initiate their purpose and existence. Morrígan strode across the open ground and waved to get the NPC’s attention, the person before her seemingly sparking to life the moment she was close enough to be noticed. ’Oh, hello. It appears you’ve managed to find my camp.’ The woman gave a soft wave towards the area around her, as if trying to make something more of the scenery than it truly was. There was a measure of pride in her voice, although Morrígan couldn’t quite determine what could possibly have caused such an emotion. ’I’m assuming you’re here for me to find and forage some materials for you…’ There was a change to the tone, and Morrígan swore for a moment that the woman was annoyed at the idea. Shaking her head, Morrígan gave a small curtsy before speaking. ’In contrast, actually, I was hoping that you could provide some guidance and knowledge to find the various items and parts for crafting myself. I’ve recently started my own business, and I’m going to require the materials to continue creating and outputting items for sales.’ Morrígan kept her voice level and professional, using a tactic of control that she had learnt years ago during her formal learning growing up. ’Oh? That’s uncommon. Most people who find me simply want to purchase things from me, very few want to complete the work themselves.’ Although the words carried what should’ve been a tone of shock, the woman’s voice was neutral in tone, as if describing nothing more interesting than the dirt beneath her. ’I supposed I can help you, assuming you’re interested in learning.’
Morrigan 0 Posted January 2 Author #5 Share Posted January 2 Morrígan was quickly swept up into a lesson on the various forms and techniques used for gathering a variety of natural substances that could be used in the various crafts and creations she had planned. The woman, whose name Morrígan had learnt part way into her lesson, had inquired about her plans and desires, focusing the lessons more appropriately towards what Morrígan would need, rather than a general overview. Morrígan kept her focus enraptured upon each and every word, movement and description that Giovanna gave, her interest piqued only enough to keep her aware of the information she would need in order to succeed in the quest, as well as in future endeavours. Once the lessons had been completed, Giovanna had dismissed Morrígan to travel the fields on her own, explaining the need to locate what was known as a demonic shard – an item that was considered rare, difficult to find, and the forefront of confirmation of one’s ability to forage materials and rare pieces. Giovanna had impressed upon Morrígan not to return from her search until such time as she had found the demonic shard, as she couldn’t complete the training without it. Determined to do just that, Morrígan had left the camp behind, giving it one last look before moving off into the field to apply the information she had been taught only moments before. Her mind still raced with all the tips, tricks and other tidbits she’d been intoned with, trying to figure out how best to begin. She knew one thing for sure, she would need some distance between herself and the camp – it was more than likely that Giovanna had already cleared away most of the area, meaning that Morrígan would have to travel some distance before she felt ready to actually begin her search in earnest. Above her, Phantom circled on the winds, the raven’s eyes keeping an eye out for any creatures that could be dangerous to Morrígan and herself. It was with a half-heart that Morrígan wished that the raven could assist with the search for the materials, but a part of her also relished in the chance to prove herself – to find it using nothing but the skills taught to her, and her own capabilities. Perhaps it was foolish, but she felt that there would be more pride in being able to do it herself, rather than relying upon another to do so for her.
Morrigan 0 Posted January 3 Author #6 Share Posted January 3 (edited) Morrígan glanced down at the compass that had been provided to her, noticing as it shifted slightly to the right. She adjusted her path in accordance, knowing that she needed to follow it as exact as she could. The item had been provided by Giovanna, and although she had been informed that it would lead her towards the demonic shard itself, Morrígan wasn’t so trusting as to think that it would land her right on top of the thing that she needed to find. She doubted, in fact, that it would do anything more than provide her a path towards a general area; one which would then require her to put the skills she had learnt from the woman to the test in order to prove herself ready and capable. ’Still, having this at all is a benefit. It would be more painful, more trying, if I was simply required to wander until I found something. I should look at all blessings equally, and without disdain.’ Lessons imparted in her long ago resurfaced, and Morrígan began to wonder if that’s all she was – words taught to be repeated, to provide her with a mirage of excellence and completion. ’Problem for another time. Focus on the search.’ Her eyes scanned the general area, considering the fields flowing before her even as she tried to make sense of everything the druidic woman had told her. The information had flowed quickly, and although Morrígan had attempted to keep up with all of it, she wasn’t sure whether she had missed anything. One cannot know what is unknown to them. She rolled her eyes, shaking her head and laughing slightly in response to the wisdom – if it could be called that – which had populated within her mind. She couldn’t deny that it was, in a sense, correct – not that it helped her situation in the slightest at the current moment. - ID239699 | LD: 13 | CD: 10 | <<Shard Search>> | Results: Failure. Morrigan 0 Posted January 3 Author #7 Share Posted January 3 (edited) She’d fallen into her thoughts more than her search, and with a shake of her head Morrígan forced herself back into the reality around her. She’d come to a stop – thankfully – as she’d tried to remember everything that she’d been taught about foraging, and the shards specifically. It hadn’t helped her in the moment to find anything of value, though, and although her eyes had been roaming the area, she came to realise she hadn’t actually seen anything of the areas that she had passed over and by. A heavy sigh, and she had turned back to retrace her steps and search through the grounds once more. Every so often she had glanced up, making sure that Phantom was still within sight, before continuing to push through the grasses in a desperate, determined search pattern. Not that anything came to fruition from it, and as Morrígan came to a stop close to where she’d originally noticed her detoured mind, her empty hands confirmed only that she hadn’t accidentally missed anything along her walk. ’Well, we’re just getting started. Everyone did mention that this quest would take some time, so it would seem I’m in for a long day after all.’ Somehow her expectations, and the reality of the situation, weren’t quite lining up. She knew, deep within her mind, that she had hoped to quickly locate the item in question and be done with the quest – a fact which was quickly shattering around her as the task’s true difficulty came to life in a way that Morrígan couldn’t question, ignore or try and deceive herself with. ’This is going to be less than enjoyable, by the end of it. I can already feel that, desolation.’ Resigned to her task, she pushed aside the negative feelings, trying to focus on the positive spin on everything. She had come to learn the difficult task of foraging, a task which would’ve been ludicrous to teach if it were simple for any individual to complete. ’I’m just going to have to put all my effort into it. Once I find the shard, then I’ll be done, and I can go forth knowing that I’ve gained the skills required to handle gathering as a profession. The ends will justify the means, in this instance.’ - ID239700 | LD: 20 | CD: 10 | <<Shard Search>> | Results: Success! [Shard Located!] Edited January 3 by Morrigan
Morrigan 0 Posted January 3 Author #8 Share Posted January 3 Her foot had stumbled into something as she’d continued walking along, a feeling that would have resembled pain in the real world, which quickly subsided as the system’s neutralisers kicked in. Morrígan glanced down, almost laughing as she realised that the compass was spinning in a hectic circle as it seemed to become possessed by an inane nature beyond Morrígan’s understanding or vision. Mere seconds later, Phantom had landed among the rocks before her, a shadow against the glossy black that stood out from the green and brown that surrounded the area. ’The shards.’ The rocks shared a simple visual aspect to the description that the druidic woman had provided, and Morrígan quickly began searching for a miniature, loose version of them that she would be able to collect. It didn’t take her long to find what she was looking for, and with a steady hand she lifted up the shard to eye it more fully in the sunlight. She was surprised at how quickly she’d found the item in question, although she knew better than to question the good luck bestowed upon her. Instead, she simply stored away the item, smiling at Phantom as she stood up straight once more. ’I guess we should return to Giovanna and get this completed. Then we are free for the remainder of the day!’ Her voice had carried a measure of excitement at the prospect – both at how quickly they’d be done, as well as to the fact that she would be able to do just about anything she wanted with the remainder of the day light. Plans were already racing through her mind as she turned and began to retrace her steps back towards the encampment that she had left behind not long ago. I wonder if Giovanna will be surprised to see me so soon? I doubt this was the fastest anyone has completed the quest, but perhaps it’s among the records? The thought carried her step a measure lighter, and she felt herself skipping back with an excitement that hadn’t been there prior to her success.
Morrigan 0 Posted January 3 Author #9 Share Posted January 3 (edited) Returning compass and proof of her find had been far less eventful than Morrígan could’ve expected. The druidic woman seemed impressed, at first, before taking time to explain that she needed to continue practicing and achieving greatness with her newfound skill. The monologue was, as one would expect, a bit dry considering its generality and clear preparedness prior to its provision. Still, Morrígan had waited politely as the NPC spoke, her hands clasped in front of her to keep from interrupting the words that were falling on ears that became deafer as the seconds ticked by. Once she had been freed from the finality of the quest, and the confirmation of completion had appeared, Morrígan had made her departure with politeness as expected of one of her station and status. She retraced her steps once more, this time back towards the Town of Beginnings as she continued to revel in her own excitement at having completed the quest. She had numerous plans for the remainder of her day, and she found herself trying to agree upon them with Phantom as they walked back, the raven hovering a mere half metre above her. ’There’s a number of shops and other areas that I want to check if we have time. Some basics that are only really found on the first floor, and considering how little we come back here now, it’s worth making the detour.’ Phantom cawed again in response, the repetitive noise confirming that the idea was being argued once more. The various ones that she’d presented thus far had been turned down by the raven – even the one where she’d suggested an early lunch, something she had never expected the raven to argue. What is it she’s looking for me to say? It’s almost like she doesn’t want to return yet. Almost as though the thought struck something important, Morrígan glanced up with sudden understanding. Phantom didn’t want to return to the settlement yet; it would mean having to refrain from the freedom of flight that she was enjoying at the moment. Grinning in sudden clarity, Morrígan offered up a new idea. ’Alternatively, we could spend a bit more time out here practicing the collection of materials and things we can use for the store, if that’s more aligned with what we want to do today?’ The caw of excitement that echoed on the air told Morrígan that she’d guessed right. The raven wasn’t ready to return yet, and was looking for any excuse to keep them out longer; to enjoy the air and currents that carried it upon its wings. She made a mental note to keep that in mind for future outings and days; Phantom needed to stretch her own wings as much as she could, and it was Morrígan’s responsibility to provide that opportunity as much as she could. ’Alright. Let’s do that then, I could use the practice if nothing else.’ She turned off the road she’d been following, heading into the fields and slowing her walk as her eyes shifted between sky and flowing grasses, looking for anything that could be useful or interesting as a piece of her few crafted items. Morrigan 0 Posted January 3 Author #10 Share Posted January 3 (edited) The very first attempt to find something useful turned out to be a great success, and Morrígan smiled to herself as she realised that Phantom may have been correct in her desire to remain beyond the walls for a time. Morrígan knew that she could use all the extra materials she could find, even if the real reason behind Phantom’s desires and request was simply to remain free a bit longer. Morrígan was well aware that she should, at the very least, take advantage of the opportunity and find as much as she could in order to prepare for the future. It may be beneficial to work on fighting things as well. Everyone always says you can find more from looting creatures, than you can from digging in the dirt. And it’s not like I’m going to obtain anything special after just completing the quest. I can save the foraging for later, where it’s too dangerous to fight anything. She knew it would be pushing her luck, but most of the creatures in this area were well within her capabilities – and she could easily retreat if things became too dangerous. Biting her lip, she glanced around to find a collection of groups, varying from boars, wolves and wasps that floated through the fields without any real purpose or care towards the world around them. ’Let’s focus on fighting some things, then.’ She said the words aloud, loud enough so that Phantom would be able to hear them. She hoped that it would remove any concern or surprise for the raven should it suddenly notice Morrígan engaged with the nearby creatures. Taking a moment to adjust her gear, she turned on the spot and headed for a nearby group of boars that had appeared from beneath the tall grasses, figuring that the beasts would be the easiest things to face. The four sauntered along their pre-determined path, oblivious of her existence for the time being. It was only once she had crossed into their field of awareness that they suddenly turned, cautious of her even as she brought her halberd around into a stance that was obviously meant for battle. Morrigan 0 Posted January 3 Author #11 Share Posted January 3 (edited) The boars came at her individually, each one rushing forwards only after the one beside it had moved. Morrígan braced herself, letting the halberd fall into an angled position as she prepared to meet the group of them. The sudden appeared of blade before tusk didn’t seem to phase the charging creature’s at all, and Morrígan carefully shifted with each impact as the boars impaled themselves against her spear tip. The force of their arrival caused her to slide backwards with each brutal meeting, although she was proud to state that she never faltered in her stance. Once the final creature had exploded into shards, she found herself alone – each one defeated almost too easily, compared to how she had handled them in the past. She shook her head, as much in disbelief of the way that they seemed to throw themselves to their deaths, as to how easy it had been to face them and bring them down. And look at everything I obtained from it. Yeah, it’s no wonder this is the preferred method find obtaining materials and items. Morrígan glanced over the list – it was, admittedly small in size, but it was a sign of her hard work. That, and it was far more than she would’ve found through simple gathering. Looking up, she spotted another nearby group of boars, and after a quick look over herself she decided that it was more than plausible to face them as well. I need to take some risks in order to gain anything, and it seems like these are easy enough to bring down. I should be okay here. Having convinced herself, she moved through the long grasses to put herself into a better position to face the next group. They noticed her approach sooner than the others had, turning and eyeing her with caution in their eyes. Stepping up, she brought the halberd down once more, preparing to repeat the process in the hopes that it would work just as it had last time, tensing slightly as she saw the first of the boars begin to move. - Combat Morrígan | Lv. 9 | P. 0 | HP [180/180] | EN [4/36] | ACC [3] | DMG [11] | EVA [0] | MIT [6] | Thorns [18] | Paralyse | -15 EN Boar 5 | HP: 0/108 | DMG: 36 Boar 6 | HP: 0/108 | DMG: 36 Boar 7 | HP: 108/108 | DMG: 36 Boar 8 | HP: 0/108 | DMG: 36 ID239714 | BD: 5+3 = 8 | <<AoE-I vs. Boar 5>> | Hit: [11x11] = 121 damage | Boar 5 destroyed. Morrigan 0 Posted January 3 Author #12 Share Posted January 3 (edited) Three of the four boars slammed into the tip of the halberd, their bodies dissecting themselves as they sheared apart against the point and axe blade that awaited their arrival. Through pure luck, or a last minute decision to spare itself the easy death that met the companions, one of the boars veered off to the side at the last second – avoiding Morrígan and her halberd entirely, before sliding to a stop a small distance behind her and turning to orient itself. She turned to face the thing, bringing the shield up even as it tried to charge her, slamming it into the thing’s face and driving it off course once more. Both of them took a breath to step back and realign themselves, knowing that they couldn’t rush towards their opponent without a plan of action – at least, Morrígan assumed that’s what the boar was doing as it seemed to side step and eye her in a similar manner to her own movements and actions. Do they have the intellect to do something like that? I’d like to think as much, but perhaps they truly are simplistic beasts that have no understanding of battle tactics and considerations. Mayhaps they really are just rushing forwards to their deaths, in the hopes of catching a player off guard. She wasn’t sure either way, but as she eyed the thing, she knew that she had the advantage when it came to the fight. She could at the very least plan, and react to the thing’s movements in a way that gave her a step ahead of the creature. All it had to its attack was pure, bestial rage and aggression – dangerous, for certain, but easily overcome if one was careful and planned their movements well. A quick glance up towards her monitors warned her of the danger, however, as she realised that she didn’t have the energy she’d need to make another strong attack against the boar – she’d have to take time to recover, time that could put her in the disadvantage if she wasn’t careful. Nothing for it. I need the energy back. Deciding to take the risk, she quickly opened a small satchel on her belt, producing the braciole and consuming it in a manner that would’ve entirely disappointed her parents if they’d seen the action. She could only hope that the action would somehow put the boar off, and give her a chance to avoid any charge it might try and make. - Combat Morrígan | Lv. 9 | P. 0 | HP [180/180] | EN [9/36] | ACC [3] | DMG [11] | EVA [0] | MIT [6] | Thorns [18] | Paralyse |+5 EN Boar 7 | HP: 108/108 | DMG: 36 Morrígan consumes one (1) Big Bertha Braciole. +4 EN ID239721 | MOB: 4 | Miss. Morrigan 0 Posted January 4 Author #13 Share Posted January 4 (edited) She’d been lucky, the boar seemed hesitant as she pulled the item from her pouch, waiting until she had finished it before it seemed to move forward with a sluggish movement. Morrígan easily stepped aside as it fumbled past her; less of a charge and more of a stumbling run that left it careening into the distance and away from her entirely. It had been enough to allow her to adjust herself, however, and as she brought the halberd down, she considered her options – glancing around quickly to make sure that no other creatures had decided to attempt to join the companion that had clearly fallen into danger and ill-suited for the fight it faced now. A quick glance up at her display confirmed that she was still short of the energy required to bring down the boar. Reaching back towards the pack, she made her decision quickly and pulled out another of the braciole, hoping that the boar would still be unable to connect with her. No point trying to strike it to death over time…better off to take a single hit now, and recover later. It’s not like these things hit very hard – so I can take a tumble or two before I need to be worried… She glanced upwards, confirming that Phantom was still watching overhead, before consuming the item and pushing herself into motion all at the same time. She hoped that continuing to move, even as she consumed the braciole, would make her a harder target to hit. She just needed another moment, and then she should be able to bring the thing down – if she was careful, that was. It’s all about planning, and I have this…well, maybe not the best plan, but manageable. Focus on movement, and keep going. You’re almost ready. - Combat Morrígan | Lv. 9 | P. 0 | HP [180/180] | EN [14/36] | ACC [3] | DMG [11] | EVA [0] | MIT [6] | Thorns [18] | Paralyse |+5 EN Boar 7 | HP: 108/108 | DMG: 36 Morrígan consumes one (1) Big Bertha Braciole. +4 EN ID239730 | MOB: 4 | Miss. Morrigan 0 Posted January 4 Author #14 Share Posted January 4 (edited) Morrígan almost couldn’t believe her luck as the boar sailed passed her once more. It had charged the moment she’d pulled the item from her pouch, but despite its repeated attempts and her distraction at trying to finish the item and gain the surge in energy, she’d remained untouched thus far. It’s definitely angry about that, though. She shifted on her feet again, sliding to the side as the boar rushed passed her and into the grasses beyond, disappearing except for the telltale sign of bent and broken flora following its path. Alright, energy is back. I should be able to end this thing now. She brought her halberd back around, wondering where the oversized pig had disappeared to, worrying for the slightest of moments that it had disengaged itself entirely and retreated from the fight to live another day. Her worry was for naught, however, as the creature erupted from the grass and charged towards her once more – causing Morrígan to jump slightly at its sudden resurgence. She stepped aside once more, unable to bring her halberd down and around to impale the wild pig, and unwilling to give up a simple hit to the creature. Instead, she brought herself back and around, levelling the halberd once more and watching as the wild pig took a wide circle to face her once more. It kept its momentum going, clearly hoping to overwhelm her through pure speed and weight alone – a tactic that might have worked if Morrígan had been armed with a smaller weapon. If I can catch it on the tip of the halberd, it’ll be completely impaled and over instantly. I just need to not miss. She tightened her grip a miniscule amount, feeling the pressure in the moment as she prepared for the thing to collide with her – an odd calmness coming over her as she faced danger and pain coming directly at her. - Combat Morrígan | Lv. 9 | P. 0 | HP [180/180] | EN [3/36] | ACC [3] | DMG [11] | EVA [0] | MIT [6] | Thorns [18] | Paralyse |+1 EN |-11 EN Boar 7 | HP: 0/108 | DMG: 36 ID239734 | BD: 3+3 = 6 | <<ST-I vs. Boar 7>> | Hit: [12x11] = 132 damage | Boar 7 destroyed. Morrigan 0 Posted January 4 Author #15 Share Posted January 4 (edited) It worked almost too perfectly, the creature slamming into the tip of her halberd without a care for its own safety or the injuries it was about to receive. The impact slammed into Morrígan’s frame, and she had to step back to avoid being completely thrown by the power of it all. The halberd hovered for a moment, the weight of the boar bearing it down, before the creature erupted into shards and disappeared from existence forever; or at least until it respawned somewhere else in the world. Morrígan let out a sigh as the fight came to an end, her loot stored away and the danger gone – or at least contained, for the moment. Her eyes glanced around, confirming that nothing else had approached while she’d been preoccupied with the charging bull, and a quick glance above confirmed to her that Phantom still hovered over the area taking lazy circles. Content that she was safe for the moment, she moved over towards a collection of rock outcroppings, eyeing a nearby collection of shiny pieces that could be useful on her designs. I’m really doing this, then? I’ve managed to open a shop, complete a collection of quests…why has it taken this long? She knew why it had taken her so long to do, and yet the question couldn’t be avoided. She’d been set in her ways, determined to fight against the system that contained her – that acted, in so many ways, like what she was trying to escape before she’d even come here. It hadn’t helped her in the slightest; in fact, she was certain it had hindered her advancement far more than it had done anything for her. Sometimes you need to accept your fate, and flow with the river, in order to escape the waterfall. She had no idea where the words had come from, but she smiled anyways as the truth behind it was obvious to her. Even if she wasn’t happy with the idea of diving into the game fully, accepting that this was her world now, it would do her no good to fight against it and try to avoid it. Her best bet at beating it, was using its own devices against it. Alright, fine. From now on, we’ll do that together. She glanced up again, spying Phantom circling closer to the ground, as if drawn by Morrígan’s own thoughts. - Post Action: Gathering ID239736 | LD: 5 | <<Gathering>> | Result: Failure Spoiler Loot ID239710 | LD: 8 | CD: 10 | Result: 864 (324+216+216+108) col, Rare Trinket (1) ID239711 | LD: 11 | CD: 2 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Trinket (1) ID239712 | LD: 6 | CD: 8 | Result: 864 (324+216+216+108) col, Rare Trinket (1) ID239713 | LD: 17 | CD: 4 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Consumable (1), Rare Weapon (1) ID239718 | LD: 12 | CD: 3 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Trinket (1) ID239719 | LD: 4 | CD: 3 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials ID239720 | LD: 12 | CD: 5 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Weapon (1), Uncommon Consumable (1) ID239735 | LD: 19 | CD: 11 | Result: 756 (324+432) col, 4 materials, Perfect Weapon (1) Loot Total 5,184 col 14 materials Uncommon Consumable (1) | ID239720 Rare Consumable (1) | ID239712 Rare Trinket (3) | ID239710, 239711, 239718 Rare Weapon (2) | ID239713, 239720 Perfect Weapon (1) | ID239735 Edited January 4 by Morrigan
Morrigan 0 Posted January 4 Author #16 Share Posted January 4 (edited) She tossed away the glittering rock as it began to crumble in her hand; the thing useless to her once its integrity – or lack thereof – had been confirmed. Still, she knew there could be more to be found in the area, and she began scouring with her eyes and hands while she considered everything that lay ahead for the pair of them. She had no doubt that their journey was only just starting, and as Phantom landed among the rock cropping, Morrígan couldn’t resist sharing her ideas with the companion who had joined her on her adventure. ’I think it’ll be important for us to focus on a couple of things, including getting the shop up and running fully. Which means I need to start planning and designing…and gathering all the items, materials and resources I need in order to create items for sale. Then there’s the advertising side of it all. We’ll need to plan that out as well, and consider how we’re going to get the word of our business to the world.’ Morrígan had turned to Phantom as she spoke, although her eyes didn’t quite lay upon the raven itself, instead focusing into the distance as she thought about all the things that needed to be done. Phantom, in credit to her own intellect, provided a cawing response only when it was clear one was required, remaining silent and observant otherwise. ’We’ll also need to consider how to handle business hours in tandem and correlation with personal hours; I’ll still need to be doing quests, events, and everything else that this world’s consistent push forward requires. Mayhaps…’ She let the word hover over the air as she thought about when most of the player run shops were active. To her own frustrations, however, she wasn’t able to pinpoint any specific point of day that one could attend a shop – instead, it seemed scattered and dependant entirely upon the individual owner’s needs and requirements; a fact that had bothered Morrígan on more than one occasion when she had attempted to go shopping previously. ’…we may need to consider hiring someone to watch over the shop when we’re not available. Although how I would go about doing that, well…I’m not entirely sure yet, but that’s a problem for later on. Once we have a few other minor pieces sorted away and secured.’ - Post Action: Gathering ID239742 | LD: 6 | <<Gathering>> | Result: Failure Spoiler Loot ID239710 | LD: 8 | CD: 10 | Result: 864 (324+216+216+108) col, Rare Trinket (1) ID239711 | LD: 11 | CD: 2 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Trinket (1) ID239712 | LD: 6 | CD: 8 | Result: 864 (324+216+216+108) col, Rare Trinket (1) ID239713 | LD: 17 | CD: 4 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Consumable (1), Rare Weapon (1) ID239718 | LD: 12 | CD: 3 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Trinket (1) ID239719 | LD: 4 | CD: 3 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials ID239720 | LD: 12 | CD: 5 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Weapon (1), Uncommon Consumable (1) ID239735 | LD: 19 | CD: 11 | Result: 756 (324+432) col, 4 materials, Perfect Weapon (1) Loot Total 5,184 col 14 materials Uncommon Consumable (1) | ID239720 Rare Consumable (1) | ID239712 Rare Trinket (3) | ID239710, 239711, 239718 Rare Weapon (2) | ID239713, 239720 Perfect Weapon (1) | ID239735 Edited January 4 by Morrigan
Morrigan 0 Posted January 4 Author #17 Share Posted January 4 (edited) The wind had picked up slightly, just enough to cause the grasses to bow gently as it passed over and through them. The sunshine continued to beat down from above – artificial, and yet familiar upon her skin as Morrígan leaned her head back and looked into the sky above. There was a small degree of enjoyment in the current conditions, even if it wasn’t real in the normal sense. It’s real in the moment, and that’s all that matters…right? She was sure that was the case, now that she’d begun to change her attitude towards everything. What little doubt she had began to wash away as her eyes moved across the open skies, wondering why it had taken her this long to adjust to her new world. ’For now, I think we should do a bit more searching for anything useful, and then maybe head back towards the town, and home. I say we pick up something to eat along the way too. Are you having any specific cravings for dinner tonight?’ The sound of Phantom’s excited cawing cut against the soft blowing wind, and Morrígan found herself smiling as the raven bounced atop one of the rocks, its wings opening and closing as if it was trying to mime something out. ’Alright, we’ll take a look on the way back and figure it out, sound good?’ Determined not to waste the time she had left now, she turned back to the area around her, figuring she could find at least some useful rocks among the pile that stretched out before her for a metre or so. They were beautiful in a way, and she knew that if she inlaid them into certain pieces of clothing, they would likely sell well – their glittering foundation reminding her of some of the more sparkly dresses she had worn in the real world. If I grind them up and incorporate them into the fabrics themselves, I may even be able to stencil in designs which are imbued by the glittering… Smiling at the idea, she noted it away for later usage, if she could find anything that would work for what she had in mind. - Post Action: Gathering ID239744 | LD: 2 | <<Gathering>> | Result: Failure Spoiler Loot ID239710 | LD: 8 | CD: 10 | Result: 864 (324+216+216+108) col, Rare Trinket (1) ID239711 | LD: 11 | CD: 2 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Trinket (1) ID239712 | LD: 6 | CD: 8 | Result: 864 (324+216+216+108) col, Rare Trinket (1) ID239713 | LD: 17 | CD: 4 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Consumable (1), Rare Weapon (1) ID239718 | LD: 12 | CD: 3 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Trinket (1) ID239719 | LD: 4 | CD: 3 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials ID239720 | LD: 12 | CD: 5 | Result: 540 (324+216) col, 2 materials, Rare Weapon (1), Uncommon Consumable (1) ID239735 | LD: 19 | CD: 11 | Result: 756 (324+432) col, 4 materials, Perfect Weapon (1) Loot Total 5,184 col 14 materials Uncommon Consumable (1) | ID239720 Rare Consumable (1) | ID239712 Rare Trinket (3) | ID239710, 239711, 239718 Rare Weapon (2) | ID239713, 239720 Perfect Weapon (1) | ID239735 Edited January 4 by Morrigan
Morrigan 0 Posted January 4 Author #18 Share Posted January 4 (edited) The few pieces that she had found disintegrated the moment that she picked them up, and Morrígan found herself sighing on more than one occasion as she wondered if the effort was worth what she was getting from it all. So far, she’d come away empty handed from the rock cropping, and she was feeling a small measure of frustration at the activity. Pushing herself up from the crouch she had rolled into during her search, Morrígan stretched her muscles in the hopes that alleviating some of the stress on them would help clear away the emotions that had been bubbling up inside her. She was still determined to find something useful within the glittering pile, even if it was nothing more than a miniscule of dust that remained behind. Although an entire rock the size of Phantom would be much more beneficial. I could break it down, and still have enough for numerous pieces of clothing to put on display. I just need to find it. Although she wanted nothing more than to return to town, she knew it would be absolutely fruitless, and bother her even more, if she left without putting all of her effort into the search. Sighing at her own compulsive behaviours, she returned to the rock outcropping for one final search of the area, hoping that something, anything, would appear before her and give her the freedom she desired from the task at hand. - Post Action: Gathering ID239745 | LD: 15 | <<Gathering>> | Result: Success! Morrigan 0 Posted January 4 Author #19 Share Posted January 4 The smile erupted across her face as she lifted the rock. It wasn’t quite the size of the raven, but it was far larger than Morrígan had expected to find in reality – at least double the size of her fist, and likely enough to be broken down for multiple uses if she was careful about it. She turned towards Phantom with the piece, showing it off so her companion could see it in its entirety, the black stone shining as the light hit it and reflected off the surface, sparkling with an eye-catching effect that wasn’t blinding or overbearing in appearance. ’Ha! I knew I could find one if I just kept trying. Although its likely not enough to make many pieces from it, it should do everything I have planned.’ She grinned as the raven cocked her head and cawed once, as if asking what Morrígan’s plan was. Excited to share the idea, she moved towards the raven and knelt down, drawing in the sand as she spoke, the items coming to life before her eyes as she planned out the pieces intricately. ’Well, we can do a couple of t-shirts and longer sleeved shirts – blouses, turtlenecks, sweatshirts, and the likes – which can have displayed imagery and decorative features upon them. This rock can be broken down into dust, which can be used to outline the designs; give it a real border that shimmers and shines. Not too overpowering on the eyes, and just enough to make the whole thing appear entirely striking to those who are seeing it.’ Although the images were manifesting in Morrígan’s mind without issue, she couldn’t help but wonder if Phantom understood her explanation. She doubted that the raven had ever seen some of the wares that Morrígan remembered from the real world, but if her ideas and concepts were confusing to the raven in any way, the bird remained silent on the topic. ’The hardest part is going to be breaking this thing down without absolutely destroying it, although I think I may have an idea for that. Hopefully it works, otherwise all of this searching will have been for nothing.’

A single, final glance at the rock outcropping to confirm that she hadn’t missed anything obvious, and Morrígan turned to make her way back towards the Town of Beginnings. She’d accomplished a lot during the day; more than she had expected to complete, if she were being entirely candid with herself, and she knew that it would be good to return before she over did it. ’Hey, what do you think of finding some falafel on the way in?’ Morrígan had seen a small stand on the way out, the image of it just popping back into her mind as she considered their dinner for the eve. Phantom let loose a small caw of agreement, her wings flapping in excitement at the idea of the food; a sign that was enough to make the decision for Morrígan as she followed the roadway back towards the safety of the walls, and their new home. ’Works for me. Although we’re getting a few orders – you keep stealing mine, so you’re getting your own this time. Which means keep your beak out of my food!’ If Phantom could have laughed, Morrígan was sure she would have. Instead, the bird cawed in a manner that reminded the ginger of a laugh, in a way. It was odd, awkward, and yet entirely fit the bird in a way that was absolutely perfect. Shaking her head, she focused on the town in the distance, wondering what other adventures awaited the two of them. Surprises for the days to come. There will be many of them, but I think we’re slowly becoming more and more ready to face them. Sure, we’re not anywhere near the top players and those who have had a head start on this world, but we’re making our way now and we aren’t going to stop here. Perhaps we’ll blunder, falter and fail; but we’ll rise again just like the historic Phoenix in its bed of flames. The image in her mind brought another smile to her face. Perhaps it was ludicrous to surmise herself to such a majestic being, but Morrígan found it was the most appropriate correlation for her current situation. She waved towards the guards as she passed through the gates, absentminded and unaware of their lack of response – and entirely uncaring. She had plans for her future mulling in her mind, and no measure of ignorance of her presence was going to bring her down from the internal high she was feeling; everything was turning around in her favour now, and she was going to take the world by storm and thunder, whether it was ready or not. - Thread Summary Word Count: 7,692 EXP: 7,692/10x1x1 = 769 [Progression] + 300 [Quest] = 1,069 EXP Col: 400 [Progression] + 5,184 [ Loot] = 5,584 col 15 materials Demonic Shard (1) Uncommon Consumable (1) | ID239720 Rare Consumable (1) | ID239712 Rare Trinket (3) | ID239710, 239711, 239718 Rare Weapon (2) | ID239713, 239720 Perfect Weapon (1) | ID239735 Edited January 4 by Morrigan
